So many different times in my life, I’ve played with broken or hurt things, broken foot, broken leg, broken hand, broken arm, broken sternum, broken collarbone. I could keep going if I just thought more about bones. Why, man? Because I loved it. I loved playing the game. I was passionate about it. One of the reasons I even get encouraged at seeing all of you here, you know why I get encouraged by that is because you could be anywhere doing a lot of different things, but you chose to be here Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show But this show does in a world filled with endless opportunities Why would two men who have built 13 multi-million dollar businesses? five hours per day to teach you the best practice business systems and moves that you can use. Because they believe in you and they have a lot of time on their hands. This started from the bottom, now they’re here. It’s the Thrive Time Show starring the former U.S. Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Clay Clark, and the entrepreneur trapped inside an optometrist’s body. Dr. Robert Zurnack. Two men, eight kids, co-created by two different women. Thirteen multi-million dollar businesses. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, and I’ll show you how to get here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here to climb Started from the bottom, now we’re at the top Teaching people systems to get what we got Colton Dixon’s on the hoops, I break down the books She’s bringing some wisdom and the good looks As the father of five, that’s why I’m alive So if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi It’s the C and T up on your radio And now 3, 2, 1, here we go! We started from the bottom, now we’re here to climb Started from the bottom, let me show you how to get here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Started from the bottom, let me show you how to get here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. Now we’re here. Rachel, thank you for letting me harass you in your cabin of glory. How are you? Nice to see you, Clay. Hey, good to see you. Well, today we’re going to be talking about your story and how you’ve overcome setbacks, adversities, and challenges. But before I do that, I want to give the Thrivers worldwide, potentially on other planets who are tuning in here, I want to give them kind of a little bit of bio, a quick bio about who you are and why I think you’re super qualified to talk about this subject here. So, you’re the founder of handmadecharlotte.com. You’ve been a consultant for Pottery Barn and Disney’s online family publications. You have designed collections for anthropology and other leading brands. You have a vast knowledge of glamping, which we’ll probably get into later. Your award-winning craft supplies are flying off the shelves and can be found in all major big box craft retail stores, including Walmart, Michael’s Stores, Jo-Ann’s Store, and Hobby Lobby. You live on a farm, you’re self-employed, you homeschool five kids, you are happily married to a man whom you met at a bar and married within 24 hours. Grill. Grill, where food was served. Your site has been featured in Martha Stewart, Living Better, Homes and Gardens, HGTV, Huffington Post, Business Insider, and you’re here right now. So I’m gonna ask you this before we get… Clay, I got another one last night. I just got an email that we got a mention in the Wall Street Journal yesterday. Boom! Was it about just people who are awesome? It was about one of the ads that we created for Land’s End. This just in, I need to update my bio. It was a mention, but nonetheless a mention. Well, can you tell me real quick about what Handmade Charlotte does or what, you know, for people who don’t know, what does Handmade Charlotte do? Handmade Charlotte creates experiences for families every day. OK. And so if I’m going on that website right now, what kind of things can I find? You’re going to find little fairy huts that you can make with your kids, and you’re going to find hot dog holders, and all kinds of fun stuff to do. pool noodle swords, transformer cakes, gorillas, dressed up gorillas, painting buses, things like that. I love that this is your job. You’ve tricked the universe into paying you to do what you love, which I love. Pay me to make macaroni necklaces. That’s pretty awesome. Now here’s the thing. Today we are talking about setbacks, adversities, and challenges. And I know that the Thrivers watching this and people who are aspiring entrepreneurs around the planet, what we discover quickly when we start a business is that bad stuff happens. Napoleon Hill, who’s my favorite success author, he wrote, every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it a seed of an equal or equivalent benefit. Rachel, obviously, you’ve been able to experience a tremendous amount of success, but can you give me an ample example of some adversity that you’ve dealt with while building this business? So Clay, I guess it happened before we started Handmade Charlotte. My husband’s a serial entrepreneur, and I guess his second, or maybe his first business that he launched, our second child died 13 years ago. And so we kind of went into a tailspin for about three years there and I guess You know that definitely shaped what we do today as far as we wanted, you know You know to homeschool and you know I don’t know if that didn’t happen that we would have done that and had five kids and So that’s that was definitely a hardship that we how did you feel as you were going through that time? I mean, was it just like, did it derail you guys completely? Completely derailed. Like, I don’t know. Like, I always try to explain it to people that if you’ve ever had, like, hit your head, like if you’ve been skateboarding or, like, I don’t know, on a bike, biking or something, and you’ve hit your head without a helmet, like, really hard, like, so hard, like, it’s like skull crushing like it was just it literally Blew our minds. Did you feel like you wouldn’t get out of that tailspin at some point? Um, it was so wild because it was so unexpected that We just I think we both went into shock for a little bit there and We crawled out of it. I mean, we had a lot of people surrounding us with love and we had our firstborn Isabella. So, and then about a year and a half later, I got pregnant with Jonah. So, it was definitely tough, but I think it definitely shaped what we do today and how we raise our children and how we interact with people and how we cope with things that aren’t so great. So like, nothing’s that bad. So like if we have like a minor thing happen through the day, like the frosting of the cupcake for some project that we’re working on, it like, it melted. Well, that’s like really minor. Like compared to like the whole scheme of things. So I think as an entrepreneur one thing I found is that there’s this really bad stuff that happens and really awesome stuff that happens because you’re putting yourself out there where you have these extreme highs and extreme lows but I don’t like when our son was born blind when you experienced that low low or one of my good friends passed away and just you experience that low and It certainly gives you that perspective there What would you say to any thriver who’s watching this right now? Who’s maybe going through that funk right now like they literally right now are going through that sort of just Horrible situation. What would you say to encourage? this is kind of stinky, but Cs Lewis, I mean, I would say it stinks and time heals. I mean, that is definitely true. And C.S. Lewis wrote a great book when he lost his wife. And I highly recommend that. So I guess I would say, you know, just push through, take time, it’s okay to take time, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be really mad. There’s those different stages of grief. I guess time is the best band-aid for that, and it’s the only thing that stinks. I think as a thriver, if you’re somebody who’s going to go out there and build a successful business, I think the one thing that defines people that really thrive in life and business is we have to get up, we just have to keep going, even though it doesn’t feel good. I think we just have to keep going. Would you agree with that? You just got to keep going. Definitely. So my daughter died, and then last year, right in the middle of my career’s booming, and we just won, one of our products was named in the top 20 most innovative products for the entire craft and hobby industry. Boom. Extreme high. Yeah, extreme high. And I just sold, we found out that Walmart was gonna buy our products, which is a big, big deal. And Michaels, and I just like, you know, had been sharing my products with about 2,000 people. And then I got a call that my dad was probably gonna be dying the next couple of days. So I was sort of on call and I flew straight from that show and my dad ended up dying. And then two days after the day my dad died, Pottery Barn called me and I wasn’t good. I was so bizarre. And I’m on the phone an hour after my dad died in front of my eyes. And I’m talking to Pottery Barn about a deal. But I can’t just say my dad. I mean, it was like so I’m talking to Pottery Barn about a deal, but I can’t just say my dad. I mean it was like so crazy and then two days after that I was flown to the Michaels headquarters and The and Michaels was like, where’s your energy? Like what’s going on? Like, where are you and I was like Like I just I didn’t want to I was just like I was like, well my dad died like two days ago and I you know thinking back I I just kept to my schedule and I just felt like this is what I do. And I should have, I mean, give yourself some time for sure. I mean, things will pop up like that. And I know if you’ve looked at other careers and things like that, that you’re always gonna see, like some, it’s life. And so things like that are gonna happen. But give yourself time. You don’t have to hop on a plane for an opportunity a day later. Like, I regret doing that. Well, one thing, and I appreciate you sharing that story, is that being entrepreneurs, people, when we have success, I know people look at you and they say, wow, it must be easy. I mean, you must just, it’s just, things just happen for you. And I don’t think they realize maybe how hard you work or some of the stuff we go through. But if you’re an entrepreneur, you’re going to deal with life. You’re going to have issues. You’re going to have the same problems that whether you’re… Don’t think we’re immune to that. I don’t want you to think that Rachel’s immune to that. I want to ask you another question, which I know could really put you out there, but I’m going to ask anyway. Have you ever, early on in your career, or have you ever made just a mind-bogglingly dumb decision? All the time, Clay, geez. I mean, I don’t know, like, that I was like, I have just completely ruined my company. You know, I don’t think I’ve done anything that devastating yet. I mean, I’ve definitely made comments that I wasn’t super excited that I made at the end of a conversation, and I think that you always want to keep a few things, like, you know, you don’t have to share everything. Have you ever made a decision that was a, can you think back, like about maybe a mistake that you made where you were able to learn from that? Because I feel like there’s a lot of thrivers. I meet people at conferences all the time, because I speak all the time. People always come up and they’ll go, hey, I started this, you know, one guy came up. He says I started this used car business and I was selling cars These are going great. I really didn’t get as much as insurance as I needed Linda blues in the whole thing Okay, I guess I mean, I’m like sitting there going. I don’t know. We’re amazing. I so I I’m Very trust like I I trust people. Yeah until you prove. Otherwise, I give respect to everyone unless proven that they don’t deserve it and I unless proven that they don’t deserve it. I one time did not get a contract signed and I did three months of work and even though, and I could not, it never happens, it’s never happened before. I’m a kind of an operate on a handshake kind You got one of those punches in the face? Well, I was shocked, actually. And so I, but we have so much work behind it that I just, I kept on. But like now I have contracts in place before I even open my mouth. I mean, I like, I don’t even, I don’t even hesitate. It’s like, here you go. But you learn from that. I mean, you learn. I totally learn from that. And it’s like, you know what? Even if you think you have this amazing relationship and it’s only happened once, and that just always be super professional. I felt like I handled that really well and I had some great advice from some of my mentors and my husband handled it beautifully and you know he coached me through it and I wanted him to be on the phone with me and he’s like you can handle this and so yeah I definitely learned that and I don’t start work without a contract. I love it I love so you’ve learned from that. Definitely. I think a lot of people watching this who are maybe they’re kind of those reluctant entrepreneurs if you’re watching this and you’re somebody who’s always wanting to start a business and now you’re like I’m gonna just log on and see if it’s for me that kind of thing I think one of the things I hear a lot is people don’t start because they’re afraid to fail. Just absolutely afraid to fail, where they have these huge amounts of fear in their mind about, okay, this could happen, and that could happen, and this could happen. I’m curious for you, on a daily basis, because you deal with countless amounts of adversity, I mean, you deal with constant rejections, people saying no, deals that don’t happen. How do you keep yourself moving forward on a positive level? You know, you’re all about positivity and your positive aura. How do you stay positive on a daily basis when things are falling apart around you? I mean, give us a story. Give us kind of a story of like how you, you know, something bad happens, but you stay positive. How do you do it? You know, I, you know, I guess, you know, learning, you know, from my daughter and knowing that really nothing is that big of a deal. All my kids are healthy, I’ve got a good marriage, I’ve got a beautiful home that I live in that I’m grateful, lucky enough to have that opportunity. So I’ll wake up and we have literally 10 projects due that day and then I might have an event, a live event that I have to set up and like the helium tank didn’t show up. Oh, the helium tank. And the face painter decided not to show up. Yeah, and then like maybe I just spilled, my kid just wanted to give me a hug to say good luck and goodbye and like maybe dumped an entire like, you know, just, yeah, maybe a plate of spaghetti on me. And so, and then I jump in the car and like there’s no gas because I pulled it in without gas and like everything seems to be going, and there’s like little macaronis flying around my head and stars and then, but I just kind of keep in focus and like, you know, it’s okay, you know what? No helium, guess what we’ll do? We just like onto the next thing, you know what, we’ll blow them up by hand. Like next one, next one, next one, next one. Like, okay, there’s no cake. Let’s do Oreos. Like, fine. And it always works out. And sometimes it’ll drive my husband a little crazy because he’s like, honey, this is like a gigantic problem. And you were like, totally fine. Like, I am totally fine. It always works out. Every time that I DJed, you know, weddings, there would always be some drama. The bride would change her song last minute, the father of the bride is not on speaking terms with the daughter for some reason, someone’s upset, someone can’t find a power cord. And I got used to just living under that stress, maybe, and that’s what kind of got me to a point where I was no longer super stressed. Do you ever talk to yourself out loud to encourage yourself? Do you ever just say, I mean, do you ever do it? Because I do it all the time. Do you do this? I don’t know. Sometimes, I guess for my tennis playing, I definitely like, come on. Yes. Come on. Definitely. I guess I do do that. I don’t think about it consciously, but I definitely think that just staying in the second, staying in that very moment is super important. You’re okay right now. You’re okay right now. And even, and I say this over and over and over again, even if it literally falls apart and it doesn’t work out, it still works out. It’s okay. So if your whole party, nobody comes to your party, it still works out. So even if it doesn’t work out, it’s still fine. So right now, it’s just because this is what happens in my office. I feel like I’m being attacked by ninjas. Bad things are happening all day. You know, sometimes it just happens. And I feel like I’m like fighting off the issues one at a time. Like, come on, bring on something else. Let’s go. Right. You know, sometimes it happens. Is there anything you would say to the entrepreneur right now who’s watching this who maybe, as far as a practical level, like, you know, if they’re in the office right now, something bad happens. The Internet went out. They couldn’t get the call. Are you a fan of just dealing with one item at a time, staying in that moment? I think this is a thing, like when I’m conveying, I think this is a really big tip because those things are happening all the time. And I used to, like I lost my phone, like I can’t get on the phone with the person, I’ve missed a call or something like that. I will never, ever, ever apologize. I’m not going to tell them about my drama. I’m never going to I’m always going to be positive and Put a spin. I’m never gonna say I’m sorry. I’m just gonna say hey, can you make it tomorrow? I’m really excited about that Like I’m never going to like because I don’t want the brand that I’m working with Yeah to like be involved in this like super drama that’s like Helping because that can be amplified and every time you talk to something you could literally potentially tell them that like, yeah, and today actually a nest of hornets came into the studio. Like you know what I mean? And potentially we saw a snake and we had to do it. Like you can turn any way a nest of hornets actually rare. I never tell them, even if I’m sitting there like, you know, my entire basement’s flooded and I’m sitting up to my knees in water, I’m still like on the phone and I, I’m like, I don’t say a word. I’m like, everything is amazing right now. I’m talking to you and things are great. Okay, well here’s where I’m going to deal with now. A lot of people say, okay, Rachel, I’ve Googled you, I’ve looked up stuff about you, I’ve seen all these successes, I just saw you in the Wall Street Journal. Little name drop for me. I’m trying to update that bio, but we just saw you in the Wall Street Journal, I saw your products in Walmart. It’s got to be luck. You just have luck. And so, but our main man, one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, he says, I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it. Have you been able to, how have you been able to create your own luck in your career by just working hard? I’ve seen, I mean, I hear of you doing it, but can you explain to the thrivers how you’ve kind of created your own luck just by working hard. Well, working hard, and I think that like, you know, my husband would say we don’t believe in luck. But I would say, you know, I think it’s kind of awesome, you know. But you know, thinking about how creating your own luck, I think that’s a great question. I would say that like, you know, always staying positive and always making sure that the customer is always right and bending over backwards for that and really making, doing favors. I do a lot of favors. I really believe in helping, supporting our community and independent publishers. I love if anybody emails me, like literally anybody emails me, I try to get back and I try to follow them on all their social channels. If they’ve asked me a question, I like to give, like, you know, I really try to give them the best advice I can and help them in any way. And even if that’s a social share, or, you know, they’ve come out with a new book, and I feel like because I have been, you know, helped out, you know, the other influencers in our business, that when I have a product or project they Always help me out, too and I think that’s been we always say that we are the trendsetters that the influencers share and And I think that’s because of those relationships and really really loving everybody in my community and knowing that you know what? You know the other influencers and and publishers and indie publishing that they that we’re all working together. I mean, there’s always enough to go around. So I feel like it’s better. And you know what, I believe if I don’t get it and I’ve introduced you to five people and I just literally gave my job to somebody else, then I should be doing something else. I wasn’t the best person for the job. So I will 100% make recommendations. And sometimes I have in the past not gotten the work and it went to somebody else that I made the introduction. That’s completely fine with me, but you know what? The next time that person that got that job or that recommendation, they will always think of me. Boom. Right. I want to repeat these because you had five really good ones I thought is, one, you’re always staying positive. Two, is you’re saying the customer is always right. Right. Three, you’re always doing these favors for people. Right. Four, is you’re helping in your community. And five, is you’re following people on those social channels there. And the reason why I want to hammer those five is because I see a lot of entrepreneurs who I meet. Example, I met this guy, he’s an air conditioning guy years ago. And he was a jerk. You know what I mean? He came up to me at a conference and he’s like, the economy is terrible and it’s easy for you to say. And he’s just that guy and you realize like he’s emitting negativity and Who’d wants to work with that guy? Oh and because he’s not staying positive. He’s not assuming the customers, right? He’s not doing favors He’s not helping the community. He’s not following people on social channels He’s not creating his own luck there But I also want to get back to the work part of it a little bit here, too how many hours would you estimate that you have personally invested in writing or marketing, you know, doing some type of work for a handmade Charlotte before you ever made a dime. Oh, three years, five years. I mean, I would consider every single thing that I did before from pouring my first candle to, you know, 17 years ago, up until all of that knowledge I gained through those craft fairs and opening galleries and working with artists and, you know, having like little shows and home shows and all of those things definitely let up and I didn’t make a nickel. And then when we opened Handmade Charlotte, we literally, handmadecharlotte.com didn’t make money for three years. I mean, Handmade Charlotte, we were monetizing working for other sites, but we did not place one ad and weren’t monetizing Handmade Charlotte at all until we built a platform that we felt and were approached by agencies. Three years. Yeah, three years. The reason why I’m asking this. Now we immediately when we open handed me so I’m like I had the collection now we’re we’re different from some independent publishers because immediately we had products. Yeah. And so the product side and then all of the services side. So reason why I ask that though is that because like one of our Thrive mentors Clifton Talbert, this guy started the bank who was not allowed to go into banks because he grew up during the time of segregation and was African-American. That guy, Clifton, he ended up launching the StairMaster. That was his big aha, big arrival on the marketplace was he helped introduce the StairMaster into the marketplace. But he marketed his thing for like three years before he ever got a hit. And you hear entrepreneurs all the time, they’re like, well, what I did is I worked hard for about three years, sowing seeds, and then bam, I got my harvest. And I think that’s really important that if you’re watching this that you realize that We want to implement these principles, but we’re so in seeds We don’t we shouldn’t expect to unless it’s some weird non-organic seed I mean you shouldn’t expect to sell it in for it to just to produce and that’s why you have to pass for it like Getting in it to really actually like for me like My business is built on like just pure love of what I was doing. And so I feel like I always went, and it was easy for me to work hard and keep late hours and sometimes setting proposals all the way up into like 4 o’clock in the morning, catching up because I had the five kids and homeschooling. Because I loved it so much and not making money at certain points, but I just loved it. So I think that’s what was like a driving factor for me. You know Albert Einstein, that one German born dude, he was the theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity and he’s one of the two pillars of the modern physics. Basically a smart dude, okay, and he says that great spirits have always encountered violent, violent opposition from mediocre minds. I’m going to repeat that one more time because that quote just blows my mind. Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. Has this kind of proven true in your career as you’ve brought up ideas? Have you dealt with some opposition as you’ve had some big ideas? I am not afraid to launch a new idea and I think that’s definitely been one of our strongest points. I will come up with some maniac idea at one o’clock in the morning. My husband actually told me about four years ago that I wasn’t, like he didn’t want me like sending emails past midnight. Because I was like, I would think like, oh my gosh, I’m gonna start the Rachel Club and email every single Rachel like on the internet and like let’s start a Rachel Club or like ridiculous things and so, and then as my business, as a sort of relating to business, because I’m a power user, because I’m on the internet constantly, because I am independent and was my own marketing team and my own HR and all of those, my own amplifier, that in the very beginning, that I had to come up with extremely creative, and I am very creative, so come up with extremely creative ways to amplify. And because the internet is so new and all of these native ads and conversational marketing and aggregating content and all of those things are so incredibly important that I would just come out with the… I felt like they were common-sense ideas but people I would often see people look at me and huge big boardrooms with people and just like this. And I would look at, like after a meeting, this particular meeting at Uplight Enterprises, I looked at the creative team later and I took them out, I was like, you guys are my people. What, like, what were you even talking about? And so I definitely, will definitely present ideas that I know that are not safe. They are not safe ideas. And so I definitely think that it’s definitely propelled me and for movers and shakers and Pioneers and true entrepreneurs and people that want to change the world. I think that’s why they’re interested in me Okay, and so you’re when you have the negativity from naysayers. You just kind of let it bounce off you You don’t worry about it too much. I don’t you know sometimes like every once in a while I’m like, oh was that like two knots? I mean I I just said that I was literally going to grab the horn of a unicorn and I want the unicorn to drag me through fields of rainbows. Like, should I have said that? Like, was that a little too much? Like, am I going crazy or is that just being too silly? And now, no, it’s not. Because the person that gets that and knows what I’m talking about and gets my space traveling spiel and all of that. I think that, I think they get it and they are super into it and they want more. Well, I wanna ask, this is the final question I have for you about this dealing with adversity and overcoming some of the challenges you’ve had in your career and you know, kind of helping entrepreneurs get that right mindset. You’re a mother of five, you homeschool these five, which I don’t know if anybody here homeschools. My wife and I homeschool five. That’s a fascinating activity. There’s a lot of stuff that you deal with. It’s a great experience, but there’s a lot of stuff you deal with. It’s a lot of work. And so you’re homeschooling five. You have the business. You have all this. What are some activities that you do on a daily basis to stay positive? What do you do on a daily basis? What’s kind of your thing you do to get the mojo going? What’s your daily? You know, Clay, I’m a pretty positive person to begin with. And I’m definitely positive in the morning. I wake up, and I’m pretty positive from the second I wake up. I’m naturally that way. So it’s not too hard. Towards the end of the day, it’s a little tougher for me. 6 or 7 o’clock, 8 o’clock, it’s a little tougher for me to put all that together without having a little blow up and things. But typically, I feel like just really focusing on routine is always good. I wake up and know exactly what I’m gonna be doing that day and I think that’s important of taking any anxiety of what the day is gonna be and preparation, but knowing my weakness and that I am a sort of fly by the seat of my pants, off the cuff kind of gal, that I know that. So there’s no reason for me to get upset if or stressed out if something isn’t prepared. So I know myself, so I’m not gonna get upset at my weaknesses, like there’s no reason to like so I I feel like I always put a positive spin on everything We do what one of these that amazes me And then I really appreciate about you is that you definitely are a free spirit You know that you own that you don’t apologize for it, but yet you’re still disciplined enough to make that routine right to You know do your time management, and you know you’re to plan out your day So you do you make your routine you have a routine you do you have a time management plan, and then you’re willing to prepare. I mean, you can’t just send a proposal to somebody where you just, you know, draw a picture of a unicorn on it and send it off. I mean, you gotta do some things. And so I had something that all the Thrivers can do. If you’re watching this and you feel stressed and overwhelmed and maybe a bad thing happened, and so now we’ve quit making a routine, and then another bad thing happened, and now we’ve quit managing our time, and now another bad thing happened, now we’re not preparing, and now because we’re not doing those things, more bad stuff happens. It can kind of derail quickly. Well, if all of the bad things are happening, I mean, I think you just like, I mean, depending how bad the things are, like, I mean, if you’re having like deaths in the family or like your husband just lost his job and you’re feeling all the stress to like get this thing together and launch it and things like that. I mean, take a couple days and like cancel your phone calls and like, and get to a piece of paper and just kind of like, it’s okay not to take phone calls and write just like make a game plan, get centered, be still, and and then move on to those tasks because you will be in much better shape to handle those things if you can just, you’re still not gonna get anything done, you’re just gonna be frantically, but you’re still gonna, the anxiety level is going to even get higher. I’m not gonna let you out of this this interview without saying this. I think that you are a naturally positive person, but I think it’s because you have chosen to be so long it’s become habit. Because I know that I grew up in a situation where I was a little bit negative, and I had an uncle that just said, you’re going to choose to be positive until it became a habit. You know what I mean? Like you can slip into a bad habit of eating bad things or doing bad things or thinking bad things, or you can choose to be in a habit that’s a good habit. And I love that you choose to do it. I don’t think you realize how habitual it’s become for you, but it’s a real, it’s a positive energy you put off. And I think that’s awesome. And so if you’re watching this and you’re going, well, I’m just negative, that’s because you’ve put together a series of- Turn that crown upside down. People love, people love positive energy and they will literally, they’re drawn to you, but people are also drawn to negative energy but for a negative in a negative way so as we wrap up here I want to point out I also am drawn to Rachel here this is a drawing I did just a second ago hey thank you for being here I appreciate you you are a great American awesome thank you JT you know what time it is? 410. JT, you’re in the process of building a super successful company. Did you start out with a million dollars in the bank account? No, I did not. Nope, did not get any loans, nothing like that. Did not get an inheritance from parents or anything like that. I had to work for it. And I am super grateful I came to a business conference. That’s actually how I met you, met Peter Taunton. I met all these people. So if you’re out there today and you want to come to our workshop, again, you just got to go to thrivetimeshow.com. You might say, well, who’s speaking? And so it’s going to be packed. Who? You! You’re going to come! Who? You! I’m talking to you. You can get your tickets right now at Thrivetimeshow.com. And again, you can name your price. We tell people it’s $250 or whatever price you can afford. And we do have some select VIP tickets, which gives you an access to meet some of the speakers and those sorts of things. Hello, I’m Michael Levine and I’m talking to you right now from the center of Hollywood, California, where I have represented over the last 35 years, 58 Academy Award winners, 34 Grammy Award winners, 43 New York Times bestsellers. I’ve represented a lot of major stars and I’ve worked with a lot of major companies. And I think I’ve learned a few things about what makes them work and what makes them not work. Now, why would a man living in Hollywood, California, in the beautiful sunny weather of LA, come to Tulsa? Because last year I did it and it was damn exciting. Clay Clark has put together an exceptional presentation. Really life changing. And I’m looking forward to seeing you then. I’m Michael Levine, I’ll see you in Tulsa. Thrive Time Show two day interactive business workshops are the world’s highest rated and most reviewed business workshops. Because we teach you what you need to know to grow. You can learn the proven 13 point business system that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to fix your conversion rate. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two-day, 15-hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re going to leave energized, motivated, but you’re also going to leave empowered. The reason why I built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur I always wish that I had this, and because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter bunny, but inside of it, it was a hollow nothingness. And I wanted the knowledge, and they’re like, oh, but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop, we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get rich quick, walk on hot coals product. It’s literally we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. I encourage you to not believe what I’m saying, but I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say, are they successful because they’re geniuses or are they successful because they have a proven system? When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s going to be the best business workshop ever and we’re going to give you your money back if you don’t loan it. We’ve built this facility for you and we’re excited to see you. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person two-day interactive Thrive Time Show business workshop? Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money, so if you’re out there today and you want to attend our in-person, two-day, interactive business workshop, all you gotta do is go to Thrivetimeshow.com to request those tickets. And if you can’t afford $250, we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable for you. I learned at the Academy, at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Harvard Kiyosaki University Radio Show. Today I’m broadcasting from Phoenix, Arizona, not Scottsdale, Arizona. They’re close, but they’re completely different worlds. And I have a special guest today. The definition of intelligence is if you agree with me, you’re intelligent. And so this gentleman is very intelligent. I’ve done this show before also, but very seldom do you find somebody who lines up on all counts as a Mr. Clay Clark. He’s a friend of a good friend, Eric Trump. But we’re also talking about money, bricks, and how screwed up the world can get in a few and a half hour. So Clay Clark is a very intelligent man, and there’s so many ways we could take this thing. But I thought, since you and Eric are close, Trump, what were you saying about what Donald, who is my age, and I can say or cannot say? Well, first of all, I have to honor you, sir. I want to show you what I did to one of your books here. There’s a guy named Jeremy Thorne, who was my boss at the time. I was 19 years old, working at Faith Highway. I had a job at Applebee’s, Target, and DirecTV. And he said, have you read this book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad? And I said, no. And my father, may he rest in peace, he didn’t know these financial principles. So I started reading all of your books and really devouring your books. And I went from being an employee to self-employed to the business owner, to the investor. And I owe a lot of that to you. And I just wanted to take a moment to tell you, thank you so much for allowing me to achieve success. And I’ll tell you all about Eric Trump, but I just wanna tell you, thank you, sir, for changing my life. Well, not only that, Clay, thank you, but you’ve become an influencer. You know, more than anything else, you’ve evolved into an influencer where your word has more and more power. So that’s why I congratulate you on becoming. Because as you know, there’s a lot of fake influencers out there, or bad influencers. Yeah. Anyway, I’m glad you and I agree so much, and thanks for reading my books. Yeah. That’s the greatest thrill for me today. Not thrill, but recognition is when people, young men especially, come up and say, I read your book, changed my life, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, I’m doing this. I learned at the Academy, King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Whoa!
