Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show. But this show does. In a world filled with endless opportunities, why would two men who have built 13 multi-million dollar businesses altruistically invest five hours per day to teach you the best practice business systems and moves that you can use? Because they believe in you. And they have a lot of time on their hands. This started from the bottom, now they’re here. It’s the Thrive Time Show, starring the former U.S. Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Clay Clark, and the entrepreneur trapped inside an optometrist’s body, Dr. Robert Zilner. 8 kids co-created by 2 different women. 13 multi-million dollar businesses. We started from the bottom, now we here. We started from the bottom and we’ll show you how to get here. Started from the bottom, now we here. We started from the bottom, now we here. We took flight, started from the bottom, and now we’re at the top. Teaching you the systems to get what we got. Colton Dixon’s on the hooks, I break down the books. Steve’s bringing some wisdom and the good looks As a father of five, that’s why I’m alive, so if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi It’s the C and T, up on your radio, and now 3, 2, 1, here we go! We started from the bottom, now we here We started from the bottom and we’ll show you how to get here We started from the bottom, now we here We started from the bottom, now we here We started from the bottom, now we here Every kid, every person has the ability to put one foot in front of the other. So like if you’re saying, okay, I’m going to climb Mount Everest, you’re at the bottom of the mountain and you look up and you’re going, I’m not going to climb Mount Everest, right? But if you break it down into sections, you just one foot in front of the other, one step at a time, next thing you know you’re at the top of the mountain. It’s just a matter of what’s important to you. And what’s important to you. For whatever reason, I didn’t feel good about myself if I wasn’t doing everything I could to be the best version of myself. If I felt like I left anything on the table, it would eat away at me. I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror. The Mamba mentality simply means trying to be the best version of yourself. That’s what the mentality means. It means every day you’re trying to become better. And it’s a constant quest. It’s an infinite quest. So starting at the age of two, when I first started playing the game and on and on and on. I always ask questions. I always try to get better every single day, learn more. You know, a lot of things I learned by being, just being around the game. And so by the age of six, I was already strategizing versus other six year olds. I just constantly looked for things to learn from and, um, you know, very observant. Everything I’ve learned from the game of basketball, I’ve carried it over into life. You know, like basketball has helped me be a better person, a better friend. Well, because there’s life lessons that are within the game, like communication, like unselfishness, like attention to detail and empathy and compassion. Like all those things are in the game. And as an athlete, if we are aware of those things, it helps us become better human beings. If your job is to try to be the best basketball player you can be, to do that, you have to practice, you have to train. You want to train as much as you can as often as you can. So if you get up at 10 in the morning, train at 12, train for two hours, 12 to 2. You have to let your body recover, so you eat, recover, whatever. You get back out, you train, start training again at 6. Train from 6 to 8. And now you go home, you shower, you eat dinner, you go to bed, you wake up, you do it again, right? Those are two sessions. Now imagine you wake up at 3, you train at 4, you go 4 to 6, come home, breakfast, relax, so so, la la la la. Now you’re back at it again, 9 to 11, right? You relax and now all of a sudden you’re back at it again, 2 to 4, and now you’re back at it again, you know, 7 to 9. Look how much more training I have done by simply starting at 4, right? And so now you do that and as the years go on, the separation that you have with your competitors and your peers just grows larger and larger and larger and larger and larger. And by year five or six, it doesn’t matter what kind of work they do in the summer, they’re never going to catch up because they’re five years behind. So it makes sense to get up and start your day early because you can get more work in. If I start earlier, I can train more hours. And I know the other guys aren’t doing it because I know what their training schedule is. So I know if I do this consistently over time, the gap’s just gonna widen and widen and widen and widen and widen, and they won’t be able to get that back. So to me, it was just common sense. I’m like thinking, how can I get an advantage? Oh, start earlier. Yeah, let’s do that. It’s just a matter of what’s important to you. And what’s important to you, for whatever reason, I didn’t feel good about myself if I wasn’t doing everything I could to be the best version of myself. If I felt like I left anything on the table, it would eat away at me. I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror. So the reason why I can retire now and be completely comfortable about it because I know that I’ve done everything I could to be the best basketball player I could be. And so you can’t leave any stone unturned. You can’t shortchange yourself. You’re not cheating anybody but yourself. I mean, you’re tired. You’re literally this far away from the line. Why would you not go that extra to touch the line? So if I let him get away with that, all of a sudden he starts maybe to cheat something over here, not give his best over here, not give his best over here. And as years go on, he’s not going to reach his full potential because he’s been taking these little shortcuts that just add up, add up, add up, add up, add up, and you can’t let that happen. Our job as teachers, as mentors, as inspirers, it’s our responsibility to hold them accountable to those things. Whatever you’re doing at that moment is what you’re doing at that moment. You know, it’s like that’s where the obsessiveness is having no attention to detail for this action that you are performing at the time you’re performing it. And if you can have that kind of focus, you can’t help but to have a certain level of obsession or attention to detail. To be unyielding, like you’re always going after it, always going after it, always going after it. And if there’s a challenge that ensues, oh good, I want to see how I stack up to that. So you go after it, you go after it. It’s fun, it’s like you get a chance to compete against opponents and you get a chance to see where you stack up against them. It’s like, I want to see. Maybe I’m not good enough today. If that, that’s fine. I’ll be good enough the next time I see you, though. You know, and you get a chance to always measure yourself. And it’s just fun to do that. So I guess that’s where relentlessness comes from. Whatever moments occur, good, bad, or indifferent, I can use those moments to propel me forward, use those as fuel to help me be a better player. Well, losing to the Celtics in the finals in 2008, I mean, that was tough. It was brutal. That night in the hotel room after we lost, just thinking to myself, I may never win another championship. Like, I might have just, like, this is it. It’s too hard to get back here. Maybe it’s not in the cards to win another one. And so, I go through that night of being mad, and then the next morning I wake up and I start thinking, nah, I gotta fix this. So where did it go wrong? Why did we lose? All right, we weren’t tough enough. Okay, we weren’t tough enough. Whose responsibility is that to make the team tough? It’s mine. So now I have to start figuring out how I’m gonna lead this team differently so that make sure that when we get to the finals the next time we are tough and ready for this challenge. And that’s how you bounce back from those moments. It was hard man, because the Achilles injury is the worst injury for an athlete. It’s like the worst, it’s like the kiss of death. And when I ruptured my Achilles, I knew what happened. I knew the severity of the injury and I didn’t know if I was gonna come back from it. Like this is it, like my career could be over right now. But what I did is, I went home and I was just really angry. And I was angry. I was mad. I was angry. I worked so hard for us to get to the playoffs and to have a chance to win another championship and then this happened. So I had a lot of anger. And then from the anger, then I was sad. And then you start feeling bad for yourself. And then you say, all right, OK, I’m done being a baby. OK, what am I going to do now? Because I can’t sit here and give up that’s not an option So now what it’s a process you look at process. What am I gonna do? What can I control surgery? We’ll do the surgery come out of the surgery recover From there physical therapy. Okay physical therapy piece by piece by piece by piece by piece start running back on the court And so I broke things down into sections and said, okay, I’m gonna focus on resting right now and this is it. I’m gonna focus on moving my toes and then walking and then so you look at every challenge at every step and that’s how you’re able to be resilient and come back from these things. Every kid, every person has the ability to put one foot in front of the other, right? So like if you’re saying okay I’m gonna climb Mount Everest, you’re at the bottom of the mountain and you look up and you’re going, I’m not going to climb Mount Everest. Right? But if you break it down into sections and you just one foot in front of the other, one step at a time, next thing you know, you’re at the top of the mountain. I came back from the Achilles and I was fine. And then the next year I fractured my knee, right? It’s like, here we go again. Come back from that next year, tear my shoulder. Here we go again. Right? But if I looked at those things in totality, it’d be depressing. But if I look at it as just the facts, this is, this is, it happened. Can’t do anything about it, it happened. Now what are you going to do? One step at a time. As time goes on, I’m sitting there, 78 years old, and I’m going to be wondering if I could have come back from this injury. I don’t want to wonder, I want to find out. I want to see if the critics are out there saying he’s done he’ll never come back well maybe you’re right maybe you’re not but let’s find out I think the greatest fear that we face is ourselves actually you know I think it’s uh it’s not anything that’s external or anything that’s superficial I think the greatest fear you face is yourself me because you know we all have dreams and it’s very scary sometimes to accept the dream that you have and it’s scarier still to say, okay, I want that. It’s scary because you’re afraid that if you put your heart and soul into it and you fail, then how are you going to feel about yourself? Right. So being fearless means putting yourself out there and going for it. No matter what, go for it. Not for anybody else, but for yourself. Dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in, right? So like everybody’s box is different. My box was to be extremely ambitious within the sport of basketball. Your box, it’s different than mine, right? Every kid here has their own box, but it doesn’t mean that your box isn’t as beautiful as mine, right? Everybody has their own. It’s your job to try to perfect it and make it as beautiful of a canvas as you can make it and if you have done that then you have lived a successful life you have lived with Mamba mentality right so it doesn’t mean you have to go out here and do all of these crazy things I’ll have to be like this person that person no what are you comfortable being what it is that what is it that you want to do with your life and once you have that then you try to live it to the best of your ability my vision of what my goal is changed drastically as I got older it’s like as a kid I said I want to be the best ever right and now you go through your life and everything you do is try to be the best ever be the best ever be the best ever. As you get older you start understanding that those things are very superficial things and everybody has a different opinion about it no matter what you do I can win 20 championships there’s always an opinion on who’s the best everybody has different opinions and so I started really kind of understanding maybe that’s not the important thing. Maybe the important thing is how do we as a team grow? How do I help my teammates be better? So that was the first change for me. And then as I got older still, it became more about how are you inspiring others to find themselves? That is the ultimate championship. So how do you use your passion and use that to inspire somebody else to create their passion, and then how can they pass that on to the next person? That is true success. All right, Thrive Nation, on today’s show, we’re gonna record today’s show for my son, and if anybody else watches, that’s a bonus. My son is 16 years old, and he’s very good at drumming. He loves drumming, he’s very good at drumming. If I had to be objective about it, if a 10 is a professional drummer, somebody who’s at the top of their game and a one is a startup. He’s probably an eight and a half right now. He’s really good at audio visual. He’s kind of finding his footing. You know, he’s 16 years old. He’s finding his footing. And, you know, we got this balance of faith, family, finance, fitness, friendship, fun. There’s a lot going on here. And because you can’t really have good education that comes from your parents. I thought what I could do is ask Peter Taunton, a guy who’s grown multiple franchises, who’s sold thousands of locations of his franchises, a guy who built, or who’s building nautical bowls, a guy who built nine-round boxing, a guy who introduced snap fitness, and a guy who’s had a lot of success in the areas of finance and fitness, and a lot of success. I want to really tap into his wisdom today about how to lock into that mindset of super success. If anybody outside of my 16-year-old son listens to this show, great, but this show specifically is for my son, Aubrey Napoleon Hill Clark. And with that being said, Peter Totten, welcome onto The Thrive Time Show. How are you, sir? My man, I’m doing great. Good to be here, as always. Well, I’m really excited to just tap into your wisdom. You know, my son, he’s 16 years old. A lot of people that listen to this show are in their 20s, they’re in their 30s, they’re all different age range, but they’re kind of a spot where they’ve been having some success and they move on to a new idea. Having some success, moving on to a new idea. I wanted just to tap into your mindset. What advice would you give a 16-year-old who’s having success in multiple areas and they’re kind of looking to find their lane, trying to build that traction? What would you say to a 16-year-old that’s trying a lot of different things and trying to find their lane. You know what, the people that I know who really thrive in what they’re doing, it starts with passion. Okay, take your, let’s just stick with your son as an example. He’s 16 years old, he’s at a, if a 10 is a professional drummer, he’s an 8 1⁄2, he’s 16. I’ll tell you what, he’s not an 8 1⁄2 at 16 unless he absolutely loves it. Okay I don’t care if it’s drums I don’t care if it’s business I don’t care if it’s if it’s a drive to make money and you’re ambitious it’s not a bad thing if money motivates you but I tell you what the bottom line is you’ve got to have that ambition you’ve got to have the passion because it takes drive it takes commitment it takes dedication in whatever it is that you choose. So for those of you out there who want to win, it’s going to start with finding something that you love because it’s really hard to get in there and commit to the level you need to if you’re not passionate about it. Eventually, you lose interest, you lose steam, and you’re off chasing something else. Now, the next question I want to get into, you’re 16 years old, if we can go back and think about it, you’re talking to a 16-year-old, and obviously, you’re slightly over 16 years old now, but you’re talking to a 16 year old or maybe even someone in their 20s, but specifically to my son, there’s so many opportunities if you’re an entrepreneur. And if you’re not careful, every opportunity seems like the only opportunity or the most important opportunity. I remember specifically when I was a young guy, I got offered, I got pitched to run sound for the Bixby Blues and Barbecue Festival and The guy who pitched it to me. He was a banker. His name is Sean. Sean said to me still friend of mine He said clay if you do this event, it could really help get your name out there. And I said, well, what’s it? What’s required? He said I just some sound some audio some visual Well after you know further investigation, it looked like I needed to buy about $50,000 of equipment. I needed to have my guys work three days outside at a barbeque festival. I needed to buy every kind of adapter possible. I needed to school my team in live music. And there was so much that I needed to do to be ready for that event that looking back at it, I probably should have passed on that event because it didn’t make any money. It wasn’t really a great use of my time. You know, and then as I got older, into my 30s and 40s, I started becoming better at saying no to certain things. So I’m not trying to kill ideas here, but what do you say, because you built your first success with Snap Fitness, now you’ve built nautical bowls, you’ve also built nine-round boxing, and a lot of people would look at your career and they would go, oh, well, Peter Taunton, man, that guy hops on a new idea every day, but you’ve had to say no to grow at a certain point. So let me get your kind of your rules for what you say yes to, what you say no to, if you’re giving advice to a 16 year old. Well with Snap Fitness it was, I knew that I had something. I piloted it. I built a couple of stores and the stores performed at a very high level. And then, and from there I went into the mode of how do I replicate it? How do I create systems and processes in order to scale and you know what my mind works in such a way where it was easy for me to create that roadmap on how to build these things on an aggressive scale and I was successful in doing that. I have systems and processes in place where one year I built I opened 367 health clubs in one year. So look that’s a testament to hiring great people as well because you can’t do it by yourself. But at the end of the day, find something that works. And here’s the other thing too, a lot of times people, they get something that’s working and then they watch a little too much TV or they watch too much Instagram and people are saying, okay, well you got this going, now go do something else and here’s what you do. Pretty soon, you got four things going and you got cash flow coming in all these different directions. Hey look I understand that and fundamentally that sounds great, but there’s too many times there’s too much road carnage of people. They switch gears thinking that they’re going to keep the first ball in the air, they’re going to focus on ball number two and looking at ball number three. Pretty soon everything’s on the ground okay, because what’s happened they can’t be three places at once, they don’t hire the right human capital that’s going to keep the business running and thriving. Not just keeping the doors open but thriving. So scaling a business is hard in its own right, scaling personal interests across a multiple of platforms is darn near impossible Clay. Honestly it’s darn near impossible to do it well and those that do it well, they’ve made a lot of money and they’ve got the necessary cash to keep feeding it and to hire the right human capital to keep the ball in the air. That’s the truth. Because there’s no luck involved. It’s hard work and good people. Now, if you go back to your high school, and I’m not looking for names, I’m just wanting to throw out this idea rhetorically to everybody listening, and I want to ask you specifically. You go back to high school, I go back to my high school, we go back to college, wherever it was when you were back in the day. And I think about the people that I knew in high school and college back in the day. And so many of them said, someday I’m gonna do this. Someday I’m gonna do that. Someday I’m gonna do this. And as I went back to my 10 year reunion, virtually none of them had done it. And people were almost shocked that I locked onto that idea of building my first company, DJConnection.com, and I didn’t stop. I just locked on to that idea for a decade. And people were going, you’re still a DJ? You built a DJ company? Wow, because so many people idea hopped, and I think if you’re not careful, you idea hop, and I think if you’re not careful, you, if you try to get other people to share your vision, a lot of times, people don’t share that vision over a long period of time. So I look at the group photos of a DJ connection over the years, I find that I’m in every group photo but the cast of characters around me often changes. Can you talk about that? I mean, just when you launch out on the path of entrepreneurship, sometimes it can be kind of a lonely road. It’s a lonely road. And I think setting off and you know, it’s an interesting question. I was consulting with a guy the other day, and I don’t mean to get into it, but he was trying to create a beverage company. And the beverage place that he was going into, he was very, very passionate about it, and he was very, very knowledgeable about it, okay? But he’s in a space that’s already competitive. He’s late to the game. And after working with him for an hour or two, I said to him, look, one thing that’s going to be very important I want you to do I want you to promise yourself I want you to put aside put a number in your head on this is all you’re going to put into it okay. I don’t care if it’s a hundred thousand half a million dollars a million dollars whatever that number is but have that threshold of what it’s going to be because what I’m afraid of for you is it’s one of these projects it’s one of these pet projects that you spend way too much time, way too much money and it never gets off the ground. And I’ll tell you what, what gets in people’s way is ego and pride, Clay. They don’t want to be a failure, they don’t want to be a quitter and I tell them it’s got nothing to do with that. You are already a winner because you took the leap. Most people just sit around and talk about being an entrepreneur, but they never make the jump. You made the jump, and here’s the lesson that you’ll learn. Even when you have a great idea, it’s hard work, a little luck, and a lot of grit. When it doesn’t work, you know what? You get up, you dust yourself off, you learn, and you press forward. When you go into business, as you know, Clay, you’re involved in a lot of different things, and you have had huge success in your life but not all deals on not all deals weigh the same and eventually you get to a place where you start weight measuring how much time are you committing to this business and what is your ROI and if your ROI is not based on cash but it’s based on pleasure and joy that it brings you that’s that there’s currency in that too okay but there’s too many times I see people chasing these unicorns and they wake up one day and they’re 40 and the rear view mirror, they’ve got 20 years of chasing unicorns and they have very little show for it. I don’t want that to be any of your listeners. Now, you know, you talk about success, you talk about faith, family, finance, fitness, friendship fund, and our conference we’re having here this Friday, a client’s gonna show up here, you’ll love this guy. His name is Charles Kola. And I’m gonna try to bake that into your brain because you have a great memory, but I’m going to bake it in your brain. I’m assuming I’m a poor communicator. Charles Kola is his name. And Charles Kola has been a client of mine for a long time. And he is jacked. This guy, Charles Kola, there he is. He’s captain fitness. He’s big into fitness. He runs big box gyms. And he’s a guy who, man, he prioritizes fitness. And man, he prioritizes entrepreneurship and he’s got seven locations and perhaps he needs a great connection to somebody like you, but he’s locked onto fitness. He’s locked onto entrepreneurship and he’s locked onto marriage. And I’m not saying he’s not doing well in other areas. I’m just bragging on the guy. I know he’s locked onto fitness. He’s locked onto family and he’s locked onto finances. That’s what he’s locked onto. What would you say to somebody out there, to a young guy, 16 years old, whatever, talking about fitness, locking on to fitness and family, because again, I’m not judging anybody who’s watching this. People watching this can judge me, that’s fine. What I’m saying is we all have areas that we succeed in. We all have areas where we’re more dedicated in, we’re more committed in, but talk about your personal desire to, or your personal decision to lock on to fitness. For me, now keep in mind, when I got started in that space clay it was almost 40 years ago think about that okay almost 40 okay I’m 62 and I’m telling you it’s that was a great time to be in fitness because everybody was still figuring it out okay it was back in the day of Schwinn Airdynes and Universal Gyms it was just right on the cut there was no digital displays in exercise equipment that dates me but that’s where I got into the bit into the game. So for me it was the perfect timing if somebody came to me and they said Peter I want to own a gym I would tell them you know what let’s get into a franchise them but I’m also going to tell them look how much money do you want to make because it’s a tough living I’m not kidding you Clay and I’m hard on fitness today because there’s more that barely break even and lose money than actually make money. It’s a true statement okay, it’s hard work. So I want to make sure that I catch people early on that I don’t have them blow their life savings getting into a the gym business thinking they’re going to make this huge money. It’s a very very competitive space but there are some concepts out there that win but you just got to be careful. I mean I’m so conservative in that space I think there’s so many other places out there where you could probably put your money and have a little bit less risk. It’s not going to be as fun as the fitness space but it’s going to be more stable and secure easier on your sanity. So that’s a much longer discussion Clay. I don’t want to put a white blank on people’s fitness dreams. Well, I don’t want to prepare them for it, though. And let’s shift gears on the fitness thing for a second. You personally are into fitness. Throw the business aside. You’re into fitness. That’s what you’re into. You got it again as an entrepreneur. And I’m just telling everybody out there, there was a time in my life where, man, all I cared about was growing my business. And people look at me and they go, dude, are you okay? Have you been to sleep? And I go, no, actually I haven’t been to sleep. You know, cause I was just crying. I’m not kidding. My wife, when I first met her, she’s like, have you been to sleep? I’m like, no, I’m locked in, let’s go. You know, and I, and I just was on fire. And then, and then, and then it became where like fitness and finances were the only two things I cared about. So people were like, dude, you’re jacked. Dude, have you been to sleep? No, just work out, go to work, go to work, work out, go to work. You can get where you, it’s important to put on blinders and block out time, but I want to talk about your decision to block out time for your fitness. Like your personal working out. Talk about that, blocking out time for your fitness. Well, I think every day starts with what serves you well. And for me, it happens to be getting that workout. I don’t leave my master bedroom in the morning without my workout clothes on okay because I know myself I know myself that if I don’t have my gear on and I start getting into other things and then I tell myself okay I’m gonna do it this afternoon okay I’ve got all day to work on myself I talk myself out of it okay because I’ll negotiate with myself I’ll convince myself not to do it so discipline I start my day in a winning way it starts with accountability I get up I get my workout out of the way and then I and then I hit my day. And that’s my lifestyle. Exercising and trying to eat healthy, balance, and exercising. I don’t have to kill myself every day, but it’s a consistent habit of mine that I’ve honestly been doing for 50 years. I’ve been doing it since I’ve been 12 years old. Now I’m gonna pull up a clip here that to me is sort of a microcosm of my life as a young entrepreneur. And maybe you can agree with this, or maybe this resonates with you, maybe not, but there’s a character named Clark Griswold and the Christmas Vacation movie series, where he would build up in his mind, this idea that he’d have the ultimate family vacation. And inevitably the goals that he would set in his mind and the expectations he had in his mind would never quite be met by reality. So let me hit play here, folks. Beautiful. God. Where do you think you’re going? Nobody’s leaving. Nobody’s walking out on this fun old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no, we’re all in this together. This is a full-blown four-alarm holiday emergency here. We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking K. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse. You’re goofy. Don’t piss me off, Art. Clark! It’s over. Not according to Santa’s watch, it isn’t. Now come on, son. Stay out of this, Dad. Clark, I think it’s best if everyone just goes home before things get worse. Worse? It didn’t get any worse. Take a look around you, Ellen. We’re at the threshold of hell. Now, again, just to put a little meat on that bone there, you know, I remember my wife would say to me, how many weddings do we have this weekend that we’re going to provide entertainment for? Back then I ran DJConnection.com, and I would say 114. She’d say, you have 114 weddings coming up next week? I go, yeah. She’s like, how did you pull that off? I’m like, well, we got, you know, 60 on Saturday, got 40 on Friday, you know, got another 20 on Sunday. She goes, well, who’s gonna, honey, do you have enough DJs? I’m like, oh yeah. She’s like, well, what if something goes wrong? Oh, I got it taken care of. And I built up in my mind this ultimate, that I typed it out and I role-played it and I checked the boxes and it was, I mean, but I would just work through it. Now, the problem is, you know, when you’re doing 120 weddings and if you have a 99% success rate, which by the way, we tried to shoot for a 98, 99%, which means after the wedding, we would call the bride and ask her how happy she was with the wedding on a scale of one to 10. If she gave us a 10, the DJ got a bonus. If the DJ didn’t get a 10, they didn’t get a bonus. That was our system. And so the bride knew we would be calling, the DJ knew we’d be calling, we were obsessed with quality. But still, when you jack up one wedding, you feel awful if you have a soul. So I remember I’d call up every weekend it would happen, every weekend for 10 years there, Peter, I would call the brides, hey, so I’m gonna ask you, how happy were you with the wedding on a scale of one to 10? The bride would say, a four. I’m like, four, on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest, how happy were you? And she’d say, a four. And I go, a four? What happened? She goes, well, after your DJ got there an hour late, he proceeded to mispronounce my name and played the wrong song for my first dance. And I’m going, uh, anything that he did well, no. And I’m going, ooh. And so I offered a money back guarantee and even though we did 120 weddings, that one wedding that would jack up, it would sting. And then she would leave a review on the knot.com and that’s the only one I would remember as the one that was jacked up. And then my wife would say, where are you going? I said, to my closet. And I would literally go to my closet and sleep in my closet on Sunday night and then emerge on Monday and do it again. But it was like, I mean, for a decade I would do my best and somehow he would fail to meet my expectation and it would just drive me crazy and I would implode and then I would reload on Monday. And that was kind of my thing, is I would implode, go hide in the closet for 24 hours, come back. I mean, every Sunday night my wife was like, you’re going to the closet again, aren’t you? Might have to. Yeah, I just that was kind of my thing. And I and again, it was like, build it up, not meet expectations. But over time, I’ve developed kind of a numbness or I don’t know what it is, the stamina or the fortitude. I wanna get your thoughts on this idea of an entrepreneur building up big ideas in our minds and maybe not quite hitting the goal. Well, look, I mean, sometimes you spray yourself a little thin. I mean, personally, 114 weddings in a weekend, I personally don’t know how you could do 20, right? Because that’s, that’s, you know, you can’t be 20 places at lunch, which means you got to have 19 people. Assuming you do one, you got to have 19 other people that can deliver with the same enthusiasm and passion as you. That in its own right is a risk, okay? So look, it’s, I’m all about, it’s, you know, scale and controlled scale, okay, and trajectory. And then assessing how much capital do you need to hire the right people with the right skill set, because you just don’t want to hire anyone who can fog a mirror. They’ve got to have the profile that what you’re looking for. You know what I mean? You’ve got to have the mini-me’s. You’ve got to hire the mini-clays who are going to deliver the passion, they’re going to show up the bar is set high. That’s the key. And you’ve got to pay those people well, otherwise you don’t get the winners. I’ve never heard it explained that way. Wow. I’ve heard you don’t want to hire anybody with a pulse, but I’ve never heard anybody that can fog a mirror. That’s impressive. Now, folks, if you’re out there today and you can fog a mirror, I’m glad you’re tuning in. Now, what I want you to do right now, folks, I want you to go to nauticalbowls.com and I want you to work off the assessment that you’re saying, I’m not passionate about drumming like my son. I’m not passionate about audio visual like my son. Maybe you’re just passionate about going to the beach, going to the lake, hanging out with your wife, hanging out with your kids, watching movies, watching the NFL, anything other than just what your current career is. And if you’re saying, I am looking for a way to create time freedom and financial freedom. I know of no better way to do that than by buying a franchise that’s been proven to work. Peter, I’m not trying to paint you into a corner here, but how many nauticalbulls.com franchises do you have open now? Now, you know, I think we’re in the 70s. We have so every weekend we have stores that are doing their opening. So I I think we’re at 71, 72. We should be close to 80 by the end of July. So remember, yeah. Sorry to cut you off there. How many franchises have you opened of Snap Fitness? My other brand, Snap Fitness, Fitness On Demand and Nine Round, those three brands collectively are over 4,000 locations in 28 countries. So it’s a lot. Over 4,000 locations. Over 4,000 in 28 countries across those three brands. So you know what you’re talking about. I mean, you’ve got the systems in place. My final two questions I’d have for you about this brand in particular is who qualifies to buy a Nautical Bowls franchise? Who qualifies in terms of who’s a good fit? And then how do people financially qualify to buy a Nautical Bowls franchise.com? And that’s a beautiful question and look for anyone is an entrepreneur here’s what I find appealing this is why I got into nautical bowls number one my background was in the health and wellness space to me the acai bowl space it’s a health it’s a health food it’s a meal replacement it’s plant-based dairy free gluten free soy free made with organic all-natural ingredients so look that’s in the wheelhouse of people in general who are looking to make a pivot into eating a more healthier and living a more active lifestyle so that part of it I love it good food product check the box. The atmosphere of the business you know what great music surfboards great vibe you walk into the place you can’t help but put a smile on your face. The training is excellent the business model works and so and you don’t have to break the bank, you can get into this business with a hundred thousand cash and we’ll finance the balance for you as long as you’ve got a net worth of two hundred fifty thousand or more. So it’s an affordable business to get in there, I don’t want to come off as saying that or with you thinking that a hundred thousand is not a lot of money. Look, I grew up poor, a hundred thousand dollars, it is a lot of money, but it’s just not a lot of money to get into a business of this caliber. So I love the ease of the business. I love that it’s an affordable business to get into. And more importantly, it’s not a restaurant. There’s no cooktops. There’s no exhaust. It’s a very, I would say it’s a lemonade stand on steroids. I went to a small private liberal arts college and got a degree in business, and I didn’t learn anything like they’re teaching here. I didn’t learn linear workflows. I learned stuff that I’m not using, and I haven’t been using for the last nine years. So what they’re teaching here is actually way better than what I got at business school. And I went what was actually ranked as a very good business school. The linear workflow, the linear workflow for us in getting everything out on paper and documented is really important. We have workflows that are kind of all over the place. So having linear workflow and seeing that mapped out on multiple different boards. It’s pretty awesome. That’s really helpful for me. The atmosphere here is awesome. I definitely just stared at the walls figuring out how to make my facility look like this place. This place rocks. It’s invigorating. The walls are super, it’s just very cool. The atmosphere is cool. The people are nice. It’s a pretty cool place to be. Very good learning atmosphere. They’re pretty friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. I attended a conference a couple months back, and it was really the best business conference I’ve ever attended. At the workshop I learned a lot about time management, really prioritizing what’s the most important. The biggest takeaways are you want to take a step-by-step approach to your business. Whether it’s marketing, what are those three marketing tools that you want to use, to human resources. Some of the most successful people and successful businesses in this town, their owners were here today because they wanted to know more from Clay and I found that to be kind of fascinating. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned is diligence. That businesses don’t change overnight. It takes time and effort and you’ve got to go through the ups and downs of getting it to where you want to go. He actually gives you the road map out. I was stuck, didn’t know what to do and he gave me the road map out step by step. We’ve set up systems in the business that make my life much easier, allow me some time freedom. Here you can ask any question you want, they guarantee it will be answered. This conference motivates me and also gives me a lot of knowledge and tools. It’s up to you to do it. Everybody can do these things, there’s stuff that everybody knows, but if you don’t do it, nobody else is going to do it for you. I can see the marketing working. It’s just an approach that makes sense. Probably the most notable thing is just the income increase that we’ve had. Everyone’s super fun and super motivating. I’ve been here before, but I’m back again because it motivates me. Your competition’s going to come eventually or try to pick up these tactics. So you better, if you don’t, somebody else will. I’m Rachel with Tip Talk K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Talk K9. I’m Clay. I’m Vanessa. And I’m Clay. And I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys, we appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. This is where we used to live two years ago. This is our old team and by team I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing and this is our new team. We went from four to 14, and I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past, and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome, but Ryan is a really great salesman, so we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts, and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place, we’ve gone from one to 10 locations in only a year. In October 2016, we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd, we’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month, and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship, and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business that we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you, thank you, thank you, times a thousand. So we really just want to thank you, Clay, and thank you, Vanessa, for everything you’ve done, everything you’ve helped us with. We love you guys. If you decide to not attend the ThriveCon workshop, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. The atmosphere of Clay’s office is very lively. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk through the door and it really got me and my team very excited. If you decide not to come you’re missing out on an opportunity to grow your business, bottom line. I love the environment. I love the way that Clay presents and teaches. It’s a way that not only allows me to comprehend what’s going on, but he explains it in a way to where it just makes sense. The SEO optimization, branding, marketing, I’ve learned more in the last two days than I have the entire four years of college. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned, marketing is key, marketing is everything. Making sure that you’re branded accurately and clearly. How to grow a business using Google reviews and then just how to optimize our name through our website also. Helpful with a lot of marketing, search engine optimization, helping us really rank high in Google. I Googled. The biggest thing I needed to learn was how to build my foundation, how to systemize everything and optimize everything, build my SEO. How to become more organized, more efficient. How to make sure the business is really there to serve me, as opposed to me constantly being there for the business. New ways of advertising my business, as well as recruiting new employees. Group interviews, number one. Before we felt like we were held hostage by our employees. Group interviews has completely eliminated that because you’re able to really find the people that would really be the best fit. Hands-on, how to hire people, how to deal with human resources, a lot about marketing, and overall just how to structure the business, how it works for me, and also then how that can translate into working better for my clients. The most valuable thing I’ve learned here is time management. I like the one hour of doing your business. It’s real critical if I’m going to grow and change. Play really teaches you how to navigate through those things and not only find freedom, but find a purpose in your business and find the purposes for all those other people that directly affect your business as well. Everybody. Everybody. Everyone needs to attend the conference because you get an opportunity to see that it’s real. Hey, Flyover family, come join us June the 27th and 28th, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before politics and the great reset came into Clay’s life, he had the number one rated Apple podcast and he interviewed people like Anthony Robbins, Seth Godin, the top authors, the top business minds in the world. At this specific event, there was an interesting cast of characters that come from gangs to American Idol. Some of the guests that are going to be there, Michael Levine, Colton Dixon, Peter Taunton, John Lee Dumas, Mondo De La Viga. And Tim Sebo, they’re there to share what they’ve done and their breakthroughs and what their story is. And then Clay lays his map of business success, calls the path for every person to follow. Hey guys, Luke Erickson here with the Thrive Time Show. As you can see behind me, we’ve got all kinds of energy going on. People are starting to show up for the conference and it is hot in this place. We’ve got drill guns over here, we’ve got people playing the drums, we’ve got a fire breather, and man, people are so excited as they come in. The conference has kicked off. This house is packed. We’ve got Steve Baring, Tim Buechler, and the concepts up there, talking about what is possible when you just implement, you implement, you do the improvements. It’s so exciting. People are going crazy. Michael Levine, writer of many, many PR books, the man who represented people like Michael One of the greatest branding experts alive today is here at our conference talking to entrepreneurs. We just wrapped up day one. It was incredible. We had some remarkable speakers, Michael Levine, we just finished with a lady named Jill Donovan who owns a company called Rustic Cuff, talking about the power of the Dream 100. I cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds. Hey guys, Luke Erickson with the Thrive Time Show here with you. It is day two and the energy is high. People are so excited to be showing up. The team is ready. Come on, let’s see what it’s like to go on in for day two. Follow me. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. I’ll tell you what, people are so excited to be here for day two. It is gonna be incredible. Cannot wait to see what today has in store. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Right now, here at the conference, we’ve broken into groups going over search engine optimization. I know for most of us, myself included, if you hear that term, you go, what is that? What does that mean? That’s too techy for me. Well, our experts are breaking it down for people so that you can clearly understand how to come up top in Google. It’s doable. It’s possible. Now we’re in the middle of a break and what we like to do is we like to give you as much tangible and relevant information from about the start of the hour for 45 minutes. Then we take approximately a 15 minute break to allow people to connect with other entrepreneurs around them. Bathroom break and also use this time to just really digest all of the good information that you’re receiving the whole time. Right behind me we’ve got Bob with his grill gun melting an ice sculpture. It is awesome. The ice sculpture represents our life, right? It’s here for a time, but we all need to have the sense of urgency to implement the things that we’re learning so that we can make the most of the time that we have. We are outside, you can see a line behind me. What’s going on is that we partner with different companies to help them implement the proven systems over and over and over again. And one of those companies is Master Machine. And so what we like to do is partner with these companies to also help them give samples to other people as they come to the conference and truly get their name out. I just wanted to recap some of the amazing things that have happened today. We’ve had entrepreneurs like Paul Hood with GoodCBA’s, we’ve had Jill Donovan and Michael Levine come up and just impart so much wisdom and knowledge. We’ve got an incredible giveaway for one of our teamies. Hey there Thrive Nation, one of the things that we love most about our business conferences is that we want every entrepreneur to leave with their questions answered. So what we do is we let them put the questions up on the board here so that they can ask their specific questions and Clay will not end the conference until every question is answered. Mine is Clay Clark answering all the different questions that on force have brought to the conference. Whenever someone comes here and starts to hear this information, especially for the first time, it just brings about so much anticipation of wanting to actually implement the proven systems and processes. And so Clay always wants to make sure that he answers all of the questions so that they are the most set up for the best to be able to go home and start implementing. If you have any questions, email us at info at Thrivetimeshare.com. Hello, I’m Wes Carter. I’m one of the shareholders at Winters and King. My favorite thing that Thrive has helped me accomplish here in our firm is thinking a little bit outside the box. They do SEO, they do printing, they help us with a lot of things that as attorneys we probably wouldn’t normally think of that help us market our services to our clients. One of the things I love about working with Thrive is that they make it enjoyable to actually do work with them. It’s not dry, it’s usually fun, but it’s always very enjoyable and practical. They give me things and ideas that I can put into place. It’s not just some theoretical spiel that they give me. We get practical steps that we work on together to do my job better. So me personally, I would easily recommend Thrive 15 services to my friends, my families. I recommend them to my clients. I think they do a good job. They’re passionate. They care about their clients, and I think it’s actually a valuable service they provide to people that are in the business world. My name is Jeff Thomas. I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia. It’s all about getting to the grindstone. It is about putting the… It’s one thing to have a specific vision or a dream, but knowledge without application is isn’t knowledge at all. It’s a, that’s nothing. Really funny, the atmosphere is very lively. Everybody that is working for Clay is very upbeat and not tired, not sluggish, not complaining, not whining. They don’t have anything to do with those types of characteristics. It’s all about getting to the grind and having fun while you do it. I haven’t actually been to any conferences in the past, but what I will say from what I’ve seen on YouTube and what from other friends have told me is this isn’t like a motivational kind of thing such as you know, hoo-hoo, rah-rah, it gets you motivated, but it’s like practical steps that if you do take them, which most people aren’t willing to do, then you will grow and you will achieve the specific things that you want. Well, for one thing, I will say that this isn’t necessarily for everyone. So if you’re not willing to work, this isn’t for you. But I would say that if you are willing to work and you know you’re just getting started, but you have actually taken a step in that direction, then this will actually help you grow further exponentially than you could ever imagine. My name is Taylor Hall. I’m the general manager of the Tulsa Oilers professional hockey team. You know, our goal every night here at the BOK Center is to try to fill the seats with lots of people and create an exciting environment so when somebody comes to a game, they want to come back. Working with Clay and the staff at Thrive, they’ve really helped us in many, many ways. Website and graphic design and video production and a lot of things that go along. A lot of businesses, including ours, doesn’t have a staff or a full-time videographer or graphic designer. But the biggest thing that we noticed was the needle mover. More sales, more attendance, more successes in business. We had a record year last season working with Clay for the first time. Our average attendance is higher than it’s ever been. So there’s a lot of really cool things that we did and they worked. That’s the nice thing about working with Clay and the team over there. It’s just not one person, you get the entire team. If you need video design and editing and production, they’ve got that. If you need graphic design, if you need some coaching, your salespeople and call scripts, PR, they offer all that. Clay was instrumental in helping, guiding us, and getting us on the right track so that, you know, we could, you know, really, you know, raise the bar and become ultra successful. So it’s been an amazing experience for us. My name is Kaitlin. I own a tumbling gym called Justice Tumbling Company, as we call them. Working with Clay is so helpful, being diligent with everything and making sure we execute our goals and really make things happen. It’s fun, it’s tight, it really gets you energized and going and just makes you really want to work. To get the momentum going, to really just like get that buzz, to really give you the energy to get up and make it happen. I’m Bob Healy. I’m in the charcoal drilling industry and the name of my business is GrillBlazer. How will I apply what I’ve learned so far into my business? I’m actually a client of the Tri15 and I learned so much from what I’m learning at this conference and from my regular weekly attendance that it’s helping me establish the business and get it off the ground. Clay’s presentation style is just blatant disregard for what anybody wants. He just has fun, it’s him, everything that you see is authentically Clay. It’s a great deal of fun. Everybody enjoys it. They know when you walk in they think they’re coming into a carnival, and frankly they are. It’s just great fun. There’s not another conference like it. You just don’t go to a carnival atmosphere and learn what to do here at a thrive conference. It’s great. The reason people should attend at least one of these conferences is because it’s common sense. And everybody’s fed on the entire line about the way you should run a business, but until you actually experience running a business, which is, candidly, what you learn here, how to run a business, you don’t know what you’re doing. My name is Tyler Hastings and this is my wife, Rachel, and our company is Delricht Research out of New Orleans. During our time working with Thrive, we’ve had numerous successes. When we first started, we were working with one physician, we had one research site, and we were seeing on average, you know, between 10 and 15 patients a week. Since working with Thrive in the last 18 months, we now have four research sites. We work with over five physicians and on average we’re now seeing over 60 patients per week. Recently we’ve been the top enroller worldwide in seven studies, which is just incredible considering where we were two years ago, 18 months ago. Thrive really differs from the other conferences that we’ve been to and the other kind of programs that we’ve been through because they actually really practice what they preach and they implement the same systems and the processes that they teach you about and they give you real life examples that really work for them and show you with the training how to implement that yourself. For example, Tyler and I actually got the opportunity to come out to Tulsa and we’re fortunate enough that the Thrive team took us out to some of the businesses that they own and we really got to see in real life, real time, some of the systems and processes and it was just incredible. A real life example of some of the businesses and the things that they’re implementing. Having a coach is important to us. They act as not only an accountability factor, but they’re someone we can talk to on a daily basis as we go through the problems of running a business that inevitably come up. They always understand what we’re going through and they’re always there to help us or guide us through the problems that we experience. The best part of our experience working with Thrive has just been seeing our relationship grow. So at each step as our business grows, you know, they have something else to provide us with. They’ve got the resources, whether it be marketing, graphic design, website development, or even in accounting practices, maybe we need a new insurance policy. If they have someone they can connect us with or if they have the direct resource we need to speak with for any of the problems we face. If someone is thinking about signing up for the coaching program, I would highly recommend that they call in for a free 30-minute coaching session and see exactly what the team can do for you. Just speak with someone and let them know what you’re going through. And I think you’ll find that, you know, regardless of what you need, there’s someone there that can help you. Clay’s presentation style is very real and raw. Like, it just gets real down to the bone of it and the real purpose of it. There’s no, like, fluffy vagueness about it, you know? So, he really gets to the point. I’m always reminded about how important it is to be intentional and to really pay attention to how you schedule your time and really honor it. Because whatever schedule gets done, that’s what he said from Lee Copperl. So, just constantly hearing that and getting reminded helps me to reinforce that in my own life. It always helps to get an outside perspective, and especially from a guy that’s grown so many multi-million dollar businesses, it doesn’t hurt. My name is Nick Guajardo. I heard about the Thrive Time Show workshop through Andy Mathren. He is my… Andy Mathren and Larry Montgomery, they’re my bosses at Restore Home Health. So I work with a home health company called Restore Home Health. And my role is pretty much to bring in business. So I was hoping to learn kind of the sales process on top of just kind of the responsibilities and help understand what it looks like on the SEO side and Just kind of an all-around what it looks like to own a business because that’s something I want to do in the future for sure How I would describe the atmosphere here at thrive is high energy Great professionalism great people. It’s just it’s a place you definitely want to visit the app plays delivery style humorous professional Hilarious just he does it. I haven’t seen someone do it better So he does this great job most valuable thing I’ve learned so far a lot of it has been extremely valuable So but one one thing that was really stuck out to me is the s learning the SEO stuff I mean that is I think things you don’t Really even think about and then you hear it and you think you know it but you don’t know it. So I feel like that was the most valuable. Well they’re missing out on just coming down to just basic applications to be a business owner. I mean I feel like it’s like an absolute necessity you know to come here and learn the ins and outs and maybe come here once or twice if they you know take good notes that kind of thing. Why, to just, it’s the experience here and what you can learn, like absolutely. So, marketing and SEO seemed like something that would be very scary, but then, in the way that Clay and his team described it, became very clear and concise, and something that’s very accessible to any business owner. I’ve learned a lot about marketing at this conference, and a lot about business management and HR, really everything, the key components of anybody’s business, they’re going to give you the best tools to be successful at it. So most workshops or conferences can be really boring, really one note, or they just seem so theatrical that it’s a joke, and it’s not even giving you the tools that you need, or that you came there for. But here, it’s still high energy, it’s still fun, everything’s to the point, but it’s very professional. And yeah, you’re missing out on easy steps to use in your business that are very accessible and very clear. My name is Abigail McCarter. The best thing I’ve learned so far is definitely, like, organization, schedule-wise, always keeping a to-do list, keeping your calendar organized. I’m kind of all over the place, so that’s always good to know. So Clay’s presentation style and the atmosphere is electric. It’s so energetic, it’s so fun. Clay’s hilarious but also knows a ton so it’s just really great all around. This conference is much different than any other conference I’ve gone to. Again because it’s fun. Like a lot of other conferences, it’s really quiet, really cold, and you just kind of get bored. But this one, you’re always engaged. You’re always learning something. And the staff is amazing. They’re always super helpful. So it’s just been really great. My name’s Clint Howard. We’re a personal training and fitness training facility. Oh, wow. I’m learning a ton. Like this morning so far has been search engine optimization. So really just the importance of being at the top of Google, how Google works, and why it’s so important to go out and get video reviews and testimonials and getting Google reviews. And so all those things we can take back and really apply that like immediately. So it’s really cool to see not only how to do it, but really the relevance and importance of it in your long-term strategy of your business. Now, it’s amazing, actually, the way in this morning and yesterday, how his video was being used, and how he’s using it, and how he’s using it in his business, and how he’s using it in his business. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. And I think it’s really cool to see that. long term strategy. It’s amazing, actually the way in this morning and yesterday I was videoing as I was walking in the front entrance and actually me I go to a lot of seminars, I go to a lot of conferences, massive ones. I’ve been doing that since I was like 22 years old, so gosh almost 20 years now. And this is by far the most entertaining, not only the content, the content is amazing, But Clay and you guys do a great job of mixing in entertainment where it’s fun, it’s fresh, it’s lively, you never get bored. And I heard a study one time that the reason that children learn so much quicker is because it’s fun, learning is fun. And so obviously Clay is a nail-batter. It’s very fun to be here and keeps you awake, keeps you energized. So I’m having a blast. Yeah, I think any business owner or someone that wants to own a business or considering owning and starting a business should definitely come. I know that I was referred here by friends of mine and clients of mine and I’ve referred other people. Again, just to understand what it takes to make a business successful, to have a good time, obviously, like I was just saying, have fun, and network. There’s a lot of people here you can learn from and there’s a lot of breaks you can talk to other people. So I think this is a must attend for anybody that owns a business or that wants to start a business. My name is Jamie Fagel. I’m with Jameson Fine Cabinetry. I heard about the conference through Andrew. He’s the coach that I deal with here at The Thrive. The most valuable piece I found, even working with Andrew, but it’s been solidified when it came here, was you’ve got to actually do the things that they’re telling you. With no action, you’re not going to get anything from it. I would highly recommend this to almost anybody in business today. I have recommended it to some of my other business partners. It’s phenomenal. It’s really something that if you want to start a business, the old way of doing things is gone. This is what you got to do. It’s the only way it will work. Hey, this is Charles and Amber Kola. We’re the owners of Kola Fitness. The way we’re able to do that is working with Clay for the last three years. has really readjusted our thinking and taught us that our business is here to serve us. And by doing that we’re able to live the lifestyle we want and take off on a random vacation last minute. We had totally planned on being at the conference. So wish we could be there and meet all of you. We know you’re having a great time. Yes, Clay in the last three years has helped us build all the necessary systems, checklists, workflows, task lists, time blocks, audits that are always running and the right capable lieutenants to keep track of all that so that you too can get time freedom, financial freedom. And that’s what we have done and Clay has helped us do. We’ve got multiple companies in multiple states and they’re all doing very well, getting ready to go to more locations in this next year. And Co-op Fitness has a really big future. We’re teaming up with a couple other groups and we should scale the company here shortly. Hopefully we’ll open like 50 locations in the next 10 years. So, but yeah, we’re on the way. We’re gonna probably more than double our company, maybe triple our company in the next eight to nine months. And it’s just awesome. God is working in our business and we’re making Jesus and changing lives. We’re a strong Christian company that focuses on making Jesus famous and changing lives in the fitness field. And this is Charles and Amber Cola. Thank you Thrive. Hit your action items. We love you guys. We wish we were there Bye I’ll be able to apply a lot of the things that we learned, we put into place, and now we’re doing the next level of refining the processes for just a different concept, and so it’s getting better and better. Things that were just big processes before, we have the foundation laid, and now we’re able to make it better and better, and I’m hearing different things now that we’ve implemented things, and so we can just make it even better, implementing it in our own business. Clay’s presentation in the atmosphere is very exciting and fun. It keeps you awake. It makes it interesting. You have a lot of information, but if it’s not gonna be entertaining, your brain is gonna tune it out. But Clay makes it just entertaining enough that you retain what you learn. Lots of rhyming and catchy things so that you remember stuff. What makes this conference different than other workshops or conferences that I’ve been to is that there’s a lot of people here in my same situation. We’re all, most of us are pretty small businesses wanting to improve and we want real life information and something that will work and that’s attainable and not just some crazy magic formula, but actual action items that we can implement in our business and actually see a difference. Everyone should attend a Thrive Type business conference, whether you’re a business owner or not. A, if you’re a business owner, it has practical applications that you can apply to so many different parts of your business. And then you need to come back for more, so that you can keep doing more of the wonderful things that you learn. But secondly, I am also a mom of three kids, and a lot of the concepts can actually be applied to home, like getting routines and getting, setting systems at home has just seriously made a huge difference in my life at home. So I’ve been able to improve our business, but I’ve also been able to improve things at home. And so that’s why everyone should come, no matter what your station is in life. My name is Nolan Q. I’m originally from San Francisco, California. The industry that I’m in is financial services. I’ve learned a ton so far, but what I can best apply from this conference is the opportunity, that hunger to go out there and make a big difference in my industry. Clay’s presentation style is amazing. He’s got an endless amount of energy. It’s contagious. And yeah, by being here, I really do want to go back and be able to face all the adversity that the industry has. Yeah, this conference, the thing that makes it different is that it’s special because it has a unique set of individuals that all share that same energy. I think he typed it as dragon energy, but yeah, that’s… Everyone should come to multiple, but their first would be very special. Yeah, you’re welcome with a lot of enthusiasm. That’ll last for a long time. My name is Gabriela Cruz. Our business is PCS Electric. My husband’s the owner, but I’m involved with that, and so we’re an electric company. Well, here at the conference, they talk a lot about consistency. And so just staying consistent with different things in the business and I feel like applying that to our business model will really help us grow. The atmosphere is very positive, uplifting, and it’s very fun and energetic. And so it gets you pumped and it gets you excited and it encourages you to do big things. I probably how real they are. They tell you up front what you need to do and what’s like a no-go. And so conferences are, they kind of trigger code things, so I like how real they are. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. I think it’s a great way to get people excited about what you’re doing. and what’s like a no-go. And some conferences are, they kind of sugarcoat things, so I like how real they are here. I think it’ll definitely, if you want your business to grow, I think this would be a great, a great experience. And then not only that, it’ll encourage you and inform you on so many things you don’t think about on a daily basis. Hey, I’m Ryan Wimpey. I’m originally from Tulsa, born and raised here. I’ve definitely learned a lot about life design and making sure the business serves you. The linear workflow, the linear workflow for us in getting everything out on paper and documented is really important. We have workflows that are kind of all over the place, so having linear workflow and seeing that mapped out on multiple different boards is pretty awesome. That’s really helpful for me. The atmosphere here is awesome. I definitely just stared at the walls figuring out how to make my facility look like this place. This place rocks. It’s invigorating, the walls are super, it’s just very cool. The atmosphere’s cool, the people are nice, it’s a pretty cool place to be. Very good learning atmosphere. I literally wanna model it and steal everything that’s here at this facility, and basically create it just on our business side. Play is hilarious. I literally laughed so hard that I started having tears yesterday. And we’ve been learning a lot, which, you know, we’ve been sitting here, we’ve been learning a lot, and so the humor definitely helps. It breaks it up. But the content is awesome, off the charts, and it’s very interactive. You can raise your hand. It’s not like you’re just listening to the professor speak, you know. The wizard teaches, but the wizard interacts and he takes questions, so that’s awesome. If you’re not attending the conference, you’re missing about three quarters to half of your life. You’re definitely – it’s probably worth a couple thousand dollars. So you’re missing the thought process of someone that’s already started like nine profitable businesses. So not only is it a lot of good information, but just getting in the thought process of Clay Clark or Dr. Zellner or any of the other coaches, getting in the thought process of how they’re starting all these businesses, to me, just that is priceless. That’s money. Well, we’re definitely not getting upsold here. My wife and I have attended conferences where it was great information and then they upsold us like half the conference. I don’t want to bang my head into a wall and she’s banging her head into the chair in front of her. Like it’s good information but we’re like oh my gosh I want to strangle you shut up and go with the presentation that we paid for and that’s not here. There’s no up sales or anything so that’s awesome. I hate that. It makes me angry so glad that’s not happening. So the cost of this conference is quite a bit cheaper than business college. I went to a small private liberal arts college and got a degree in business and I didn’t learn anything like they’re teaching here. I didn’t learn linear workflows. I learned stuff that I’m not using and I haven’t been using for the last nine years. So what they’re teaching here is actually way better than what I got at business school. And I went what was actually ranked as a very good business school. I would definitely recommend that people would check out the Thrive 15 conference. The information that you’re going to get is just very very beneficial and the mindset that you’re going to get that you’re going to leave with is just absolutely worth the price of a little bit of money and a few days worth of your time. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys. We appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. Right? This is where we used to live. Here’s the house. This is our old neighborhood. See? It’s nice, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing and this is our old team. And by team I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing. And this is our new team. We went from four to 14. And I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past. And they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome, but Ryan is a really great salesman, so we didn’t need that. So we really just wanna thank you, Clay, and thank you, Vanessa, for everything you’ve done, everything you’ve helped us with. We love you guys. Hello, my name is Charles Colaw with Colaw Fitness. Today I want to tell you a little bit about Clay Clark and how I know Clay Clark. Clay Clark has been my business coach since 2017. He’s helped us grow from two locations to now six locations. We’re planning to do seven locations in seven years and then franchise, and Clay’s done a great job of helping us navigate anything that has to do with like running the business building the systems the checklist the workflows the audits how to how to Navigate lease agreements how to buy property How to work with brokers and builders this guy is just amazing. He’s Keith this kind of guy is working every single industry He’s written books with like Lee Crocker. Oh head of Disney with the 40,000 cast members. He’s friends with like Mike Lindell He does reawaken America tours where he does these tours all across the country where 10,000 or more people show up to some of these tours on the day-to-day. He does anywhere from about 160 companies. He’s at the top. He has a team of business coaches, videographers, and graphic designers, and web developers, and they run 160 companies every single week. Think of this guy with a team of business coaches running 160 companies. In the weekly, he’s running 160 companies. Every 6-8 weeks he’s doing Reawaken America tours. Every 6-8 weeks he’s also doing business conferences where 200 people show up and he teaches people a 13 step proven system that he’s done and worked with billionaires, helping them grow their companies. I’ve seen guys from start-ups go from start-up to being multi-millionaires, teaching people how to get time freedom and financial freedom through the system. Critical thinking, document creation, making it, putting it into, organizing everything in their head to building it into a franchisable, scalable business. Like one of his businesses has like 500 franchises. That’s just one of the companies or brands that he works with. So amazing guy Elon Musk, kind of like smart guy. He kind of comes off sometimes as socially awkward, but he’s so brilliant and he’s taught me so much. When I say that, Clay is like, he doesn’t care what people think when you’re talking to him. He cares about where you’re going in your life and where he can get you to go. That’s what I like him most about him. He’s like a good coach. A coach isn’t just making you feel good all the time. A coach is actually helping you get to the best you. Clay has been an amazing business coach. Through the course of that we became friends. My most impressive thing was when I was shadowing him one time, we went into a business deal and listened to it. I got to shadow and listen to it. When we walked out, I knew that he could make millions on the deal and they were super excited about working with him. He told me, he’s like, I’m not going to touch it, I’m going to turn it down because he knew it was going to harm the common good of people in the long run. The guy’s integrity just really wowed me. It brought tears to my eyes to see that this guy, his highest desire was to do what’s right. And anyways, just an amazing man. So anyways, impacted me a lot. He’s helped navigate. Anytime I’ve gotten nervous or worried about how to run the company or navigating competition and an economy that’s, like I remember we got closed down for three months. He helped us navigate on how to stay open, how to how to get back open, how to just survive through all the COVID shutdowns, lockdowns, because our clubs were all closed for three months and you have $350,000 of bills you’ve got to pay and we have no accounts receivable. He helped us navigate that and of course we were conservative enough that we could afford to to take that on for a period of time. But he was a great man. I’m very impressed with him. So Clay, thank you for everything you’re doing. And I encourage you, if you haven’t worked with Clay, work with Clay. He’s gonna help magnify you. And there’s nobody I have ever met that has the ability to work as hard as he does. He probably sleeps four, maybe six hours a day, and literally the rest of the time he’s working. And he can outwork everybody in the room every single day. And he loves it so anyways this is Charles Kola with Kola Fitness. Thank You Clay and anybody out there that’s wanting to work with Clay it’s a great great opportunity to ever work with him so you guys have a blessed one this is Charles Kola we’ll see you guys bye bye. Hi I’m Aaron Antis with Shaw Homes. I first heard about Clay through a mortgage lender here in town who had told me what a great job he had been doing for them. And I actually noticed he was driving a Lamborghini all of a sudden, so I was willing to listen. In my career, I’ve sold a little over $800 million in real estate. So honestly, I thought I kind of knew everything about marketing and homes. And then I met Clay and my perception of what I knew and what I could do definitely changed. After doing $800 million in sales over a 15 year career, I really thought I knew what I was doing. I’ve been managing a large team of sales people for the last 10 years here with Shaw Homes. And, I mean, we’ve been a company that’s been in business for 35 years. We’ve become one of the largest builders in the Tulsa area and that was without Clay. So when I came to know Clay, I really thought, man, there’s not much more I need to know, but I’m willing to listen. The interesting thing is our internet leads from our website has actually in a four-month period of time has gone from somewhere around 10 to 15 leads in a month to 180 internet leads in a month. Just from the few things that he’s shown us how to implement that I honestly probably never would have come up with on my own. So I got a lot of good things to say about the system that Clay put in place with us and it’s just been an incredible experience. I am very glad that we met and had the opportunity to work with Clay. So the interaction with the team and with Clay on a weekly basis is honestly very enlightening. One of the things that I love about Clay’s perspective on things is that he doesn’t come from my industry. He’s not somebody who’s in the home building industry. I’ve listened to all the experts in my field. Our company has paid for me to go to seminars, international builder shows, all kinds of places where I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the experts in my industry. But the thing that I’ve found working with Clay is that he comes from such a broad spectrum of working with so many different types of businesses that he has a perspective that’s difficult for me to gain because I get so entrenched in what I do, I’m not paying attention to what other leading industry experts are doing. And Clay really brings that perspective for me. It is very valuable time every week when I get that hour with him. From my perspective, the reason that any business owner who’s thinking about hooking up with Thrive needs to definitely consider it, is because the results that we’ve gotten in a very short period of time are honestly monumental. It has really exceeded my wildest expectation of what he might be able to do. I came in skeptical because I’m very pragmatic. And as I’ve gone through the process over just a few months, I’ve realized it’s probably one of the best moves we’ve ever made. I think a lot of people probably feel like they don’t need a business or marketing consultant because they maybe are a little bit prideful and like to think they know everything. I know that’s how I felt coming in. I mean, we’re a big company that’s definitely one of the largest in town, and so we kind of felt like we knew what we were doing. And I think for a lot of people, they let their ego get in the way of listening to somebody that might have a better or different perspective than theirs. I would just really encourage you, if you’re thinking about working with Clay, I mean, the thing is, it’s month to month. Go give it a try and see what happens. I think in the 35-year history of Shaw Homes, this is probably the best thing that’s happened to us. And I know if you give them a shot, I think you’ll feel the same way. I know for me, the thing I would have missed out on if I didn’t work with Clay is I would have missed out on literally an 1800% increase in our internet leads. Going from 10 a month to 180 a month, that would have been a huge financial decision to just decide not to give it a shot. I would absolutely recommend Clay Clark to anybody who’s thinking about working with somebody in marketing. I would skip over anybody else you were thinking about, and I would go straight to Clay and his team. I guarantee you’re not going to regret it, because we sure haven’t. My name is Danielle Sprick and I am the founder of D. Sprick Realty Group here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After being a stay-at-home mom for 12 years and my three kids started school and they were in school full-time, I was at a crossroads and trying to decide what do I want to do. My degree and my background is in education, but after being a mom and staying home and all of that, I just didn’t have a passion for it like I once did. My husband suggested real estate. He’s a home builder, so real estate and home building go hand in hand, and we just rolled with it. building relationships, but one thing that was really difficult for me was the business side of things, the processes and the advertising and marketing. I knew that I did not have what I needed to make that what it should be. So I reached out to Clay at that time, and he and his team have been extremely instrumental and helping us build our brand, help market our business, our agents, the homes that we represent. Everything that we do is a direct line from Clay and his team and all that they’ve done for us. We launched our brokerage, our real estate brokerage, eight months ago. And in that time, we’ve gone from myself and one other agent to just this week we signed on our 16th agent. We have been blessed with the fact that we right now have just over 10 million in pending transactions. Three years ago I never would have even imagined that I would be in this role that I’m in today building a business having 16 agents. But I have to give credit where credit’s due. And Clay and his team and the business coaching that they’ve offered us has been huge. It’s been instrumental in what we’re doing. Don’t ever limit your vision. When you dream big, big things happen. I started a business because I couldn’t work for anyone else. I do things my way. I do what I think is in the best interest of the patient. I don’t answer to insurance companies. I don’t answer to large corporate organizations. I answer to my patient, and that’s it. My thought when I opened my clinic was I can do this all myself. I don’t need additional outside help in many ways. I mean, I went to medical school. I can figure this out. But it was a very, very steep learning curve. Within the first six months of opening my clinic, I had a $63,000 embezzlement. I lost multiple employees. Clay helped us weather the storm of some of the things that are just a lot of people experience especially in the medical world. He was instrumental in helping with the specific written business plan. He’s been instrumental in hiring good quality employees using the processes that he outlines for getting in good talent which is extremely difficult. He helped me in securing the business loans. He helped me with web development and search engine optimization. We’ve been able to really keep a steady stream of clients coming in because they found us on the web. With everything that I encountered, everything that I experienced, I quickly learned it is worth every penny to have someone in your team that can walk you through and even avoid some of the pitfalls that are almost invariable in starting your own business. I’m not going to be talking about what is possible when you just implement it. When you implement it, when you do the improvements, it’s so exciting. People are going crazy. Now Michael LeVine, writer of many, many PR books, the man who represented people like Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, George Bush, is standing behind me speaking to people here in our conference talking about branding. One of the greatest branding experts alive today is here at our conference talking to entrepreneurs. We just wrapped up day one. It was incredible. We had some remarkable speakers. Michael Levine. We just finished with a lady named Jill Donovan who owns a company called Rustic Cuff talking about the power of the Dream 100. I cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds. Come on in! Welcome to the 5×0 Special Edition! All-Stars! That’s right, you can’t miss it! Come on in! Hey guys, Luke Erickson with the Thrive Time Show here with you. It is day 2 and the energy is high. People are so excited to be showing up. The team is ready. Come on, let’s see what it’s like to go on in for day two. I’ll tell you what, people are so excited to be here for day two. It is going to be incredible. Cannot wait to see what today has in store. Right behind me we’ve got Bob with his drill gun melting an ice sculpture. It is awesome. The ice sculpture represents our life, right? It’s here for a time, but we all need to have the sense of urgency to implement the things that we’re learning so that we can make the most of the time that we have. We are outside. You can see a line behind me. What’s going on is that we partner with different companies to help them implement the proven systems over and over and over again and one of those companies is Master Machine and so what we like to do is partner with these companies to also help them give samples to other people as they come to the conference and truly get their name out. I just wanted to recap some of the amazing things that have happened today. We’ve had entrepreneurs like Paul Hood with Hood CPAs. We’ve had Jill Donovan and Michael Levine come up. It just imparts so much wisdom and knowledge. We’ve got an incredible giveaway for one of our teamies. Hey there Thrive Nation. One of the things that we love most about our business conferences is that we want every entrepreneur to leave with their questions answered. So what we do is we let them put the questions up on the board here so that they can ask their specific questions and Clay will not end the conference until every question is answered. Behind this, Clay Kilar is answering all the different questions that entrepreneurs have brought to the conference. Whenever someone comes here and starts to hear this information, especially for the first time, it just brings about so much anticipation of wanting to actually implement the proven systems and processes. And so Clay always wants to make sure that he answers all of those questions so that they’re the most set up for success to be able to go home and start implementing. If you have any questions, email us at info at thrivetimeshow.com. We have come to the end of the 2019 Christmas conference. It was incredible. These entrepreneurs have gotten so many tangible things that they can go and they can implement. Check us out for more information at thrive timeshow.com. And as we always like to do, we want to end with a boom. Three, two, one. Boom. Once I saw what they were doing, I knew I had to get here at the conference. This is probably the best conference or seminar I’ve ever been to in over 30 years of business. You’re not bored. You’re awake, alive the whole time. It’s not pushy. They don’t try to sell you a bunch of things. I was looking to learn how to just get control of my life, my schedule, and just really implementing it and sticking with the program. It’s really lively, they’re pretty friendly, helpful, very welcoming. I attended a conference a couple months back and it was really the best business conference I’ve ever attended. At the workshop I learned a lot about time management, really prioritizing what’s the most important. The biggest takeaways are you want to take a step-by-step approach to your business. Whether it’s marketing, you know, what are those three marketing tools that you want to use, to human resources. Some of the most successful people and successful businesses in this town, their owners were here today because they wanted to know more from Clay, and I found that to be kind of fascinating. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned is diligence, that businesses don’t change overnight. It takes time and effort, and you’ve got to go through the ups and downs of getting it to where you want to go. He actually gives you the road map out. I was stuck, didn’t know what to do, and he gave me the road map out step by step. We’ve set up systems in the business that make my life much easier, allow me some time freedom. Here you can ask any question you want, they guarantee it’ll be answered. This conference motivates me and also gives me a lot of knowledge and tools. It’s up to you to do it. Everybody can do these things. There’s stuff that everybody knows, but if you don’t do it, nobody else is going to do it for you. I can see the marketing world came. It’s just an approach that makes sense. Probably the most notable thing is just the income increase that we’ve had. Everyone’s super fun and super motivating. I’ve been here before, but I’m back again because it motivates me. Your competition’s gonna come eventually or try to pick up this tag team. So you better, if you don’t, somebody else will. If you decide to not attend the ThriveCon workshop, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. The atmosphere at Clay’s office is very lively. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk through the door. And it really got me and my team very excited. If you decide not to come, you’re missing out on an opportunity to grow your business, bottom line. Love the environment. I love the way that Clay presents and teaches. It’s a way that not only allows me to comprehend what’s going on, but he explains it in a way to where it just makes sense. The SEO optimization, branding, marketing. I’ve learned more in the last two days than I have the entire four years of college. The biggest thing I needed to learn was how to build my foundation, how to systemize everything and optimize everything, build my SEO. How to become more organized, more efficient. How to make sure the business is really there to serve me as opposed to me constantly being there for the business. New ways of advertising my business as well as recruiting new employees. Group interviews number one. Before we felt like we were held hostage by our employees. Group interviews has completely eliminated that because you’re able to really find the people that would really be the best fit. Hands-on how to hire people, how to deal with human resources, a lot about marketing and overall just how to structure the business, how it works for me and also then how that can translate into working better for my clients. The most valuable thing I’ve learned here is time management. I like the one hour of doing your business. It’s real critical if I’m going to grow and change. Play really teaches you how to navigate through those things and not only find freedom, but find your purpose in your business and find the purposes for all those other people that directly affect your business as well. Everybody. Everybody. Everybody. Everyone needs to attend the conference because you get an opportunity to see that it’s real.
