What was your routine and ritual like after every game? Would you watch almost every game over or certain games? All of them. Every game you’d watch? Every game. The whole game? The whole game. No way. So it started with me when I was a, when Phil Jackson’s, his first year here with the Lakers, one of the assistant coaches, his name was Tex Winter, and I call him Yoda. I mean he was like 82 when he got here. Wow. And he was responsible for teaching me the triangle offense. How old were you then? I was 21. So, three years, four years in the league? Yeah, so about my fourth year in the league. And so, I go up to his room, and this is when, there were no iPads or anything like that, so when you’re on the road, you have to call down to the front desk and have to bring up the TV, with the whole, you know, the rolly thing and the VHS and the cassette tape, you pop it in. And I thought we were going to watch what we call touches. So, watch all your touches when you have the ball, all the decisions you make, good ones and bad. No, we’re watching the start of the game to the end of the game. And not like the TV feed, we’re watching the in-arena feed. The layup line, the timeouts. Yeah, rewinding, stopping, fast forward, rewinding, slow motion, every little thing, every game of that season with the 82 year old Yoda. Oh my gosh. Who is as brutally honest as you can get. What did that teach you that season? Taught me to look at detail. I look at things that they’re smallest. Look at body language, look at the energy between players, our team and the other team. Look at the tactics, look at the overall strategy and look at how tactically things are manifesting themselves. And because I watch so much film, then it gave me the ability to see game in real time as if I was watching film. Where I can see, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, because a lot of times the game starts moving really fast. But if you train yourself to watch hours and hours of film, the game’s not moving that fast anymore. You can really recognize who’s doing what and why. Then you can position guys in the right places in real time. Seeing it before it happens. Yes. Yeah. You know, in football, we’d watch it once a week, game, film, but not after every game. It was only one game a week. You got to do like three a week sometimes. Yeah, you got to go. I know Tom Brady is obsessive over game film as well. Watching his show that came out, Tom, was a time was all about him just in there studying. Even months after the game, he’s studying to prepare. It’s just like he’s obsessive. And that’s one of the keys, you think. It’s like if you’re not watching film, whether it be as a speaker on stage or a performer and a musician, if you’re not watching yourself back. You gotta learn man. I mean Beyonce’s the same thing. Really? After a performance she’s immediately on her laptop re-watching the performance. No way. Yes, seeing how to do things better. What could we have done differently? Right? I mean it’s just it’s an obsessiveness that comes along with it. You want things to be as perfect as they can be. Clay Clark is here somewhere. Where’s my buddy Clay? Clay is the greatest. I met his goats today, I met his dogs, I met his chickens, I saw his compound. He’s like the greatest guy. I ran from his goats, his chickens, his dogs. So this guy’s like the greatest marketer you’ve ever seen, right? His entire life, Clay Clark, his entire life is marketing. 4,000% from February to February. Now I can better that. Okay, Clay, I don’t think you know this. I don’t think you know this. I’m pinching myself and if I cry, forgive me. In the last two and a half days. So and the phone’s blowing up. Everything’s just blowing up blowing. You’re right. It is like a rocket ship. So we’re pinching ourselves actually. I learned at the Academy in Kings Point in New York. Octa nonverba. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Thrive Nation, it is a very special occasion. We are on the other side of yet another successful Thrive Time Show conference. We had a two-day conference. We just finished day two yesterday. And Jason, you got a chance to spend some time with some of the conference attendees. I did. Give the listeners out there some of the highlight attendees that we had, some of the great guests we have that own and run businesses throughout these great United States. Just give us a little bit of a highlight. Oh, man, we had so many. So Ryan Wells and his wonderful wife Erin came through representing for Flow Real Estate Photography. That’s right. They’re doing fantastic. They really helped a lot of business owners. I was talking to some of the newbies, newer people to either the program or first attendees to the conference, and they took a lot away from the things that Ryan had to say. That’s flowphotos.com. That’s Aaron and Ryan Wells. Who else was attending the conference? It was very… We had so many great people, but who else stands out to you as a guest that attended, who’s implementing and having some success. Oh man, so my personal nutrition and strength coach, Placid Ajoku, the second with Bill Phoenix Strong out of Roswell, Georgia. He showed up, showed the entire, you had everybody on their feet, he was showing them how to stretch, how to, you know, get limber, talked about exercise, really talked about the importance of having a routine, but also how his implementation has helped his business. He was a rock star. And there’s, let’s think of just one more, we had so many great guests, but think of one more guest that was attending the conference that’s having some massive success that was an inspiration to everybody out there. I would say it was really cool getting to see one of my newer clients, Money Insights, come up and speak because they’re newer to the program, but they have executed like everything that you say will take 90 days, they got done in like 30, 35, and they were able to kind of go up, teach the good people how they could really help a lot of the business owners in that building. They took a lot away from that, so they’re very, very thankful. So if you’re listening to today’s show, what I hope to give you during today’s show is five practical moves that you can use on a daily basis that will help you to achieve massive amounts of success. And some of you might have heard similar shows, but I think what’s going to make it different as I’m going to try to explain this within the context of organizing a conference because I think people don’t see the details that go into organizing a conference. There’s a lot Let’s go with step one. Okay Everybody out there has to get up every single day and Take at least one hour I would recommend an hour some people say a half hour But I would say at least an hour per day and plan your day one hour before you see Anybody else now when the four of us get together on Sunday mornings to record, I would say 99% of the time I’ve been up for two or three hours previous to seeing you guys because I’m planning the day, planning the outline, getting ready for the show. But there are some times where we have a late night Saturday engagement, and if I don’t get that hour or two to plan my day before the day starts, you could feel like overwhelmed almost you say late night Saturday engagement Hmm. Well, it would be like let me give example. We went to the Cardinal Club with dr. Zellner I want to say like a month ago. Mm-hmm and I go to bed I mean I like last night we watched this Bible movie this Bible show about the life of Solomon We watched that we go to we go in the hot tub. I go to bed at 9 When we went out to dinner at the Cardinal Club last night, right? Yeah, and typically I’m like you. Now that I get up early, it’s great because it’s a blessing if I get to bed by 9.30 because I get just enough sleep. I didn’t get home until like 10. I was just like, whoa. Crazy late. But I have to say, good conversation. But overall, the meal, 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10. The Cardinal Club, great meal. We tried the tomahawk. I took the bone home for my dog. She’s going to love that. Again, the website is cardinalclubtulsa.com. Cardinalclubtulsa.com. I’ve been there now two times. And each time, the food’s been great. It’s been a great experience. Cardinalclubtulsa.com. If you’re looking for a nice place to take your wife or husband out for dinner, it’s a great place. But we get back to this. You’ve got to take an hour to plan your day. Dr. Breck, you’re a busy chiropractor. Yes, sir. And on a typical day, how many patients might you see on a busy Monday? On a busy day we’re gonna be like in the 80s maybe even hit the 90s. 80 patients. What time do you see your first patient? We start seeing patients at 9. So if you could just take 90 seconds or so and walk us through how you organize those first 60 to 90 minutes of your day. Mm-hmm. While you’re doing that, I’m going to fix my keyboard USB cable. Thank you. Well, and my day starts much earlier than 9 o’clock. And so I actually start the day at around 4.30 in the morning. And so I spend a little quiet time, some scripture reading, some praying, some meditation. And then I’ll spend some time at the gym and get my workout in, get the blood pumping, get going. But what I’ve found is that my meditime, so the planning out of my day, tends to work better when I actually do it the night before. I’m naturally a night owl, but I know when I say I get up at 4.30 in the morning, it’s like, you’re a night owl. Yeah, my brain is naturally awake. My neurons are firing at their best. It tends to be at night. And so I’ll actually do my planning for the next day the night before. And that way I know before I even go to bed what’s going to happen first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and 6th. I’ve got an order, I’ve got an agenda, I have priorities set. But a lot of things are routine. So the quiet time with the Lord is routine. It’s a daily habit of mine. The gym is a daily habit. And then I help get the family ready and we do breakfast and we get kids to school and kind of that rat race part of the day that I think a lot of people start with. And so when you say you probably feel overwhelmed, I think that’s one of it is if you hit the alarm five times and then you’ve got to immediately jump into this rush, rush, rush, get the kids to school, get myself to work, then you you do kind of start already overwhelmed instead of having, in my case, what I consider a much more peaceful start to the day. But yeah, so I get to the office before everybody else and then I’ll get some notes done, I’ll get some different things while it’s quiet. I find that that’s a great time to get some things checked off the list quickly. But that’s another key factor is having that checklist. So knowing what needs to get done definitely has helped me because I was one who didn’t used to use checklists and it has made a huge difference. And I still feel like I’m not getting enough done, that there’s more I could be doing. And so I’m still a student in this. But yeah, there’s a ton of stuff that happens before I start seeing that first patient at 9 o’clock. But once I do, then I’m right where my feet are. I am present-time conscious and totally focused with each patient in that moment. So let’s make sure we get this idea. Whether you choose to stay up late and do it or get up early and do it, you’ve got to take that hour or half hour per day to plan your day. It just has to happen. It has to happen. Today, it’s Sunday at 6.20 in the morning. There are things that have to happen today. And Sunday, my wife and I view that as our Sabbath, our refocus day, our time with family. But we do things. I mean, we do go to church at 8.45. We’ll leave to go to Guts Church. But I have a book I’m still editing through, the Mastermind Manuscripts. My daughter is 16. I want to schedule time to teach her how to drive. She’s got the permit, but she needs more hands-on. We’ve got to get groceries for the week. We have five kids. If we don’t get the groceries for the week on Sunday, then the week is weird. Yes, it is. We’ve got to get a lot of stuff done. My son and I have to go out. We picked out a basketball goal for the new building, we’re putting in a three-on-three court there. We’re going out and picking out what basketballs we’re going to have, and we’ve just got a lot of decor decisions we have to make for the new facility. And I’m saying is, man, you can really have a productive day, you can really have an abundantly, exceedingly great day, or you can have a day where you just get overwhelmed and you drift. And so we go back to yesterday, we have a conference. A lot of the attendees start showing up at six. Now the conference starts at 7am. So for that, I still get up my normal routine about three, but what’s really awesome, step two here, is I have a checklist for what matters and what’s my routine. And I want to get Nathan’s take on this because you clean carpets, but when you take the time to make that system for cleaning carpets. That system for adjusting back the spines, sort of spinal alignment there, Dr. Breck. Or those systems, Jason, for launching websites. Once we have a system, we can fall back on our preparation and then we can have more mentally present conversations. True. We can have more engagement with the guests at the conference. We can talk to the customers when we’re cleaning their carpets. We can have a fuller conversation with your patients. Jason, you can work with your clients. You can be mentally present because you already have the system. So let’s get into these checklists here. Nathan, the checklist you have that makes your company complete carpet work would include what? We’ve got everything from the beginning to the end of the job. There’s going to be something on there. And we use checklists as a tell you what to do and then check off what you did. You can use them as a check do or do check but either way you need to know all the way up to even as simple as greet the customer remember their name. It’s amazing how if you know the name of the person you’re walking up to how much more connection you’re gonna have just immediately with somebody. I actually did for a local customer for McGill’s, he’s the owner of it he said he’s tried to get his waiters and waitress said if you go back and just look at the name on the credit card as they give it to you, if you come back and just mention their name as you hand them a credit card you’ll make five percent more tips. It’s true. He said it’s amazing how just that human connection, so we put that into our checklist all the way to the end of the close where we ask them for a Google review, that’s on the checklist so that if you get out in the van you look down the checklist you go, oh no, one of these isn’t checked. You know what you do? You just go back and you finish it. That’s why you remind people. Wait, so you put it on the checklist to remind people to do it? This is big, though. And so that it gets done. So that it gets done. So you don’t have to remember it. We’ve listened to so many people on this over the years at conferences. I met many of them this weekend, and they said, hey, just adding, getting a review from every customer, patient, client, every time has changed my life. Just adding it to the checklist. Right. Now, what I’m trying to give you guys today is five proven routines or systems you can fall back on that are going to dramatically increase your income. So let’s go back to the conference. Jason, I am very intentional about how we run those conferences, and you do a very good job of helping me. But if you can cut to the screen just so you can see real quick here. If you look at the screen, you can see the reviews from the conference there. Hopefully, it pulls up for you. If it doesn’t… I got Breck. That’s a great view. Not pulling up. Okay. All right. Go, Breck. Go. Review. All right. Okay. But if you look at the reviews from the… If it’s not going to work, just email founder and we’ll have… I mean, Andrew might have to reset it or fix it or something. But we have great reviews from the conference because we ask every time. Right. And so a guy named Mr. Glenn gave us a review. I appreciate that. Dwight Womack wrote, learned a lot. Can’t wait to put the words into action. Dwight’s a great guy. I talked to him after the conference. Solid human being. Brian Quiles gave us five stars. Clayton James Design wrote, big help. Thanks, Clay. Carly Sullivan says, I came to Clay Clark’s business conferences to learn more about starting a nonprofit organization. He and his team exceeded my expectations. I’m super excited to implement these tools. Thank you for having me Justin Carnahan writes entertaining more importantly educational not a feel-good fluff BS Conference true Janelle writes they have so much knowledge and passion for helping businesses grow I’m excited to learn to keep learning from them Timothy Scott Scott writes a great way to get a fantastic Clear-cut plan to move your business to the next stage. Jeff Davis writes, I’ve been self-employed for 23 years. In the Thrive Time Show, Clay Clark is the best business building coaching that I’ve ever experienced. Their help just over the past three months has saved us thousands and set us on a course of success that is repeatable and scalable. Tenderfoot Village writes, amazing company, amazing people, high energy environment. These people are changing lives. I’m so impressed with their knowledge and willingness they have to share the exact steps to take your businesses to be successful. Coaching is phenomenal and the conference is a wealth of information and a high energy motivating environment. Shauna Stevens writes, sitting at the business coach workshop will blow your mind. Great speakers, great information. Learned more yesterday and today than years in college. Energy in this place is incredible. And so we keep getting these reviews. Well, if we keep scrolling down, eventually we’re going to run into the people that haven’t attended the conference that leave bad reviews. So we keep scrolling down. I’m scrolling down right now. I got to find it. While you’re scrolling, there’s over almost 30 ones that say less than a day ago, which means that at the conference you did what? Because this doesn’t happen. You don’t have to intentionally ask people for reviews. Now this is interesting. I’ll find it here. Okay. So we’ve got somebody says, just heard you on CNN. You owe it to everybody, anyone, where you get your stats from after throwing around percentages out to public venues. Okay. Never worked with her before. I would say you’re also phenomenal at referencing any kind of data stat number that you put out there, or it’s coming straight from the business owner themselves who are the ones sharing the stat. There we go. I was on CNN. I did share the stats, and this person did not pay attention. Therefore- Well, if you want to have a conversation, that’s where you go to reviews so that you can have this dialogue to get- No, that’s not where you normally get it. And then this lady, Kylie, she actually came to a job interview for Shaw Homes at our place. Now, again, I don’t own Shaw Homes. Jason, Shaw Homes hosts their job interviews at our place. Yeah, I sat in on not the last one, but the one before that. And this lady shows up super duper late for the job interview, doesn’t get the job, so she writes, this place was sketchy, went into an interview, and it ended up being a public seminar. Okay. Margo writes, went to the interview for the Shaw Sales Home. It wasn’t. Okay, but again, these are people who didn’t get hired. Are these people having strokes when they’re writing these? Now, one of my… Michelle’s also. Lauren Rocket, one of my favorites. This is the person who worked for a video company I had years ago and then bailed out last minute, and now she emerges a month ago to leave a bad review. I’ve seen this person and or heard of this person in, I believe, more than a decade. I was going to say a decade. And the hipster leaves us a bad review. That’s great. And then it’s just amazing how you get bad reviews by default. And if you’re not intentional about asking for the reviews, you don’t get them. Nope. Let’s go back to the conference. Jason, the conference, we start that thing at 7. Straight up. And I have a printed agenda. Yes, you do. Everything we’re going to cover. And then if you have any questions in between sessions, you can ask We put the questions on the whiteboard. Mm-hmm, but we went through a lot of stuff We did a lot of material and people will tell me in between the breaks. Hey, hey, can we talk? Can I pick your brain? and the reason why I say I put on the whiteboard is Everybody there matters and I want to get all the questions answered and you don’t leave day two until that’s done We don’t but so many people say oh my gosh This conference was my favorite or the one you just did was my favorite. Well, it’s because we answered the most of their questions. See, once people have been to a conference, they start to realize, you guys really do answer my questions. So usually the second conference people go to, they say it’s my favorite, because it’s the one where we answered all their questions. The first time, they kind of sit back a little bit, and they’re like, I don’t know where these questions are coming from. But I want to make sure we’re getting this, okay? So principle number one, you’ve got to take an hour per day to plan your day. Every day. And I think it’s easy to skip that. Every day? Every day. You know, Jason, I think it’s easy that when we get busy, when we need the routine the most as we’re growing our business, like you mentioned, Flow Photography’s growing their business. Shout outs to Flow Photography. Placid Joku II, he’s growing his business, Built Phoenix Strong, that’s exciting. Money Insights growing their business. Lake Martin Mini Mall. Oh, shout out to Jason growing his business It could be easier you would think to skip the planning as you grow, but actually that’s when you need the planning the most Jason, please explain this idea because again, I think people think oh once I become successful Then I’ll start planning or they think I’m so busy once I’m less busy. Then I’ll start planning. Well, just to break down, because you said one thing, it’s extremely easy to skip that step. And as we were wrapping up yesterday, you kind of went like rapid fire things that people need to do in order to make sure that they are staying successful and growing. And you had asked, you were giving away all this Trump swag that Anthony was selling, and you said for the chance to win any one of these awesome items, hat, flag, shirt, whatever, can you guys answer this next question? Why is it so impossible to plan when we get busy? I’m trying to think of the way you phrased it, but you said something about how when you get so busy, why is it almost impossible in order to get anything else done? And there was like this weird, ominous silence. And before, everyone’s like call and response, and they’re very interactive at this conference, it was great, it wasn’t like crickets. But when you said that, they kind of just kind of, they froze, and at first I thought everybody was scared to answer, and then I realized they didn’t understand the answer to the question because they were currently going through this and so I just I’m I like to interject not because I want attention but I hate when things are quiet so I said because people don’t plan their time and you said what so well the reason why people get so busy and can’t find time to do things is they don’t sit down and schedule what their time is going to be the second that you implement a calendar you now know how many hours you have within a day to get things done that’s why Brett can see 80 patients, still rock a checklist, still get home and enjoy family time because he starts his day, what, 4.30, and knows what he’s doing every single step. But the second that you wake up and just go, oh man, got to go, you get out that door, you get 10,000 action items, you get 1,700 burning fires, and now you don’t have that time to plan. You are just reacting to everything. Every day we got to plan our day. We just have to every single day break. Well, and I think of it like the old, you know, fable about the woodcutter. You know, he spends the time sharpening the axe versus just going about it with the dull blade. You get so much more done, even if you, you know, it doesn’t have to take so long. I mean, you get to where maybe, you know, part of that hour is that meta time. It’s used in various ways, but the day-to-day, like the creation of my checklist doesn’t take an hour. That’s a portion of it, and then there’s other aspects of that time that are being used. And so if I’m really pressed that day, yeah, I might shrink it down that day. You know, the planning out may be a 30-minute process, but it’s always gonna be worthwhile because I’m gonna get more accomplished by having spent that time doing the stuff that actually helps get the other stuff done. So it’s like the enzyme in the reaction. It’s the catalyst. It’s the fuel that makes the other things able to be done. Otherwise, you actually accomplish far less in the day. So backing up and planning it out, it’s like trying to take a road trip without any kind of map, without any forethought. And it’s like all of a sudden, on the trip, you run into, hey, the car needs oil and the tires are flat and we’re headed the wrong direction and all these other problems that could have all been avoided and they were all time wasters. Instead, you had the map, you changed the oil ahead of time, you got the tires checked and you fueled up and you were ready to go and now you’re well on your way down the road headed to your proper destination. And it’s like you just saved yourself all that time by spending a few minutes of forethought. Now yesterday, I believe my daughters, plural, spent the night at your house? It is. Isn’t that right, Nathan? You know, and a unique thing, last night, trying to get them to go to bed, they are the most rowdy bunch. They just, it’s like they stay up all night. I tried giving them a lullaby. I tried giving them more milk. There’s Scarlett and Leia over there, or was it Angelina there? And Angelina. She had three over there? And I found the secret message. Oh, you had three kids at your house. I didn’t realize. Yeah, I’ve got about half your family. There’ll be a hostile negotiation later at the end of the show. I walked in, I found my copy of the boom book. I opened that up and started to read. They were out in like five minutes. Nice. Now, here’s the deal. I want to make sure we get this in the context of the conference. So we have this conference. We finished the conference. I committed my wife I’d be home at four, so at four o’clock I’m home. We were going to go. We had a list of things to do. We had to buy a garden hose for grandma because we just planted all these new trees. We had to get the garden hose. And my wife wanted to make sure we dropped off clothes over at your house for the kids. Actually, they were so nice, we decided to let them stay the night. Nice. And then we wanted to make sure that my son got his hair cut. And there’s just things on the list. We already made that list before the conference. And after the conference, a lot of people were like, hey, dude, if you want to grab a bite to eat, we’d love to hang out. And I would love to, but I had committed to other things. And again, I just want to make sure we get this. I think people think, man, that conference was awesome. But they don’t realize I am heavily dependent upon, step one, planning my day every day. So I’d already planned the day before the conference began. Step two, I have a checklist for everything. And again, we have TV screens that have to work. We have a playlist that has to work. The audio has to work. There’s video clips I want to play. Everything has been meticulously organized over time, and it’s because I don’t want to have to think about it. Right. But that’s why it comes off so well and so professional, is because you’ve stopped and you’ve thought through all the processes, the sights, the sounds, the feels. There it is. The whole thing has been thought through. It’s not haphazard, because I’ve been to those situations where it was one person’s job or it was done by committee and it never got done. Then you’re like, well, why aren’t the mics working? Why is the sound terrible? Why aren’t the slides popping up? Any number. There’s not enough chairs. Nobody’s controlling the AC and it’s too hot, it’s too cold. All kinds of problems can happen. I had yesterday a client that had an emergency. They needed some issues with. That’s why I only work with 160 clients. I want to be available when I promise I’m going to be available. And this client had an emergency problem. Well, because we had the systems in place, I told Clay Stairs, I’m going to have you lead this session, and then I’ll be back, but I need you to lead this session. It’s a 15-minute session. You lead that session. I’ll put out this burning fire. And he goes, OK. But because we have it in the boom book, it’s all documented, he’s able to lead through the system because we cover the same material. It works. You can trust your team. You’ve got great people around you. I’m going to verify. Clay isn’t just blowing smoke here. I’ve sent him texts in the past and almost instantly I’ve gotten a call back at times when he’s available to help me to process through something. This isn’t just hyperbole. This is really something he does on a daily basis and he really is committed to his clients. Now next move, okay? This is a big one. You want to innovate in a disciplined way. Innovate in a disciplined way. Now I’m going to give you a fun thing we’re working on right now. I’m excited. I want to see if it makes sense to you guys, because if it doesn’t make sense to you, it’s okay. We have 100 people that attend the conference, okay? What I want to do is I want to do a $50 buy-in, okay, which is going to generate a pot of, again, Jason, we’re doing the math, follow with me here. We got $5,000 pot. Everybody got that? Yep. So, the way it’s going to work here, you got a $5,000 pot, but again, the buy-in is $100, okay? Okay. Or, sorry, $50, but there’s 100 guests, all right? And we’re going to be building a paintball course behind our newest venue. Right. So, after day one, Jason, tell me if this makes sense to you, okay? So you do a 50-hour buy-in and you’re in teams of three, three or four, probably four, okay? Because people travel as a couple, okay? So then what you do, Jason, is you go into this tournament and we start right after the conference. So it’s like… Yes, when people’s emotions are like, their energy levels are so high. Yeah, so it’s like 3.30 p.m. we’re hitting the court, like 4 p.m. we’re going, okay? And you’re playing paintball, but it’s the winner, you have a team of four wins, okay? The winner gets to keep the pot. I like it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Though I’d suggest day two, otherwise there’s going to be a lot of really sore people on day two in the morning. They’re going to come in and be like, oh. Now Saturday, the next day, I’m putting in the three on three basketball court. Same thing, $50 pot. You play, but it’s a three-on-three thing but you put in the money and the team with the three-person team yeah but I think in three on three a lot of times you do a four-person team we’ll work it out there Jason Breck now where you’re on my team but then they get to keep the pot what do you think about this Jason I think it’s great because I mean one people love to get involved if there’s something to win so like you know we do the TV giveaway because people get excited like oh I have the chance to win I mean it came down to it yesterday, you guys picked, what, four potential winners, and then they did rock, paper, scissors, and it was epic, because they’re like, I’m playing for something. And so with this, because we work with entrepreneurs, businesses, you always say this, a contact sport, now we literally have two contact sports that people can, you know, work that entrepreneurial mindset into, and what’s cool is everybody always compares systems, and oh, I do it this way, my checklists are this way, I optimize like this, and so they’re always trying to one-up each other. Let’s put that skill to the test somewhere else. I think it’s going to go over great. So the December conference is when I plan to unveil this. And we’ve got a lot of work to do in the meantime to get it done. I just went out and I bought, I don’t know if you guys follow basketball goals, but I go into Dick’s and I knew when I walked into Dick’s a dream was being achieved. Because I go into Dick’s and I said, excuse me, by the way, I’m not wearing a mask. I said, excuse me, where are the basketball goals? So they could hear you. Yeah. And so she says, they’re over here. So I walk over that way. And realizing a childhood dream of having a 72-inch glass, tempered glass. Is that what makes it NBA regulation? Because I’m looking them up and I don’t know the difference. Okay. Okay, yeah type in gorilla 72 inch. Mm-hmm 72 inch gorilla And it’s just a basketball goal to break away rim Yeah, break away rim and what’s what makes it different is the actual glass Nathan I can show it to you here. This is The actual glass it’s the ball reacts differently when he does the hits the glass You’ve got way more bank shots face. So it feels like you’re playing college or high school. It’s high quality Mm-hmm. The rim itself has some give to it. And then we’re going to get the NBA. I don’t want the freaking new commissioner, Silver. I don’t want his signature on the ball. I want David Stern on the ball. So I had to modify the building, because in the new building, Jason, you can’t actually in the new building, it’s not possible. You can drive a car in and out of the new building. So in order to get the basketball goal up there, we’re going to have to put the basketball goal and attach it with add more steel framing for the basketball goal to work. It’s a big thing. But I go in there to buy this and these young guys who are working there, because you know the guys who work at Dixie usually like sports. Sure. They’re going, dude, are you getting the actual tempered glass NBA goal? I go, yes I am. They’re like, oh, sick, bro. And it was like, we were all- It’s not something that just leaves the shelf every day. I mean, this is a big purchase. This is a big deal. Nobody gets this. For the viewing audience at home who’s listening, normally you get this small kind of dome-shaped, kind of like an arch. Fiberglass or, yeah. Small little- Particle board. Yeah, it’s like a little clamshell of a basketball. This is the full, big, strong, rectangular one you’ll see in like an NBA game. This is beautiful. I wish that the big screen would work, so maybe you guys have to huddle around as I show you over here. Steve Kurindzian’s first look at… I’m going to pull up a video of the new place here, so you guys can see it. Boomtown. Just to give you a little context here. This is the building. It’s going to say… There we go. Boomtown right there. There’s Steve. That’s going to be the future paintball course over there. Okay, and I want you guys to see it. I’m so sorry that the screen doesn’t work over there, but who cares. This is Steve. This is the building that’s going to say Boomtown right there. Just like Society Burgers right there. Boomtown right there. There’s Steve. That’s going to be the future paintball course. Steve Current and the Mortgage Guys giving us a tour. He’s leading the tour, but he’s never been in the building before, which is great. Okay, so we’re going in there. You’ve got to go down and under. Thank you, Steve. He’s giving me a tip about going down and under. Okay so right here this is where the goal is going in. We had to change the framing of the building so it can support the weight. And then here’s the NBA it’s gonna be the three-point line right here. Oh sick. What was that Breck? Yeah there’s a roll-up door over here. So this is a ability to go outside. That’s the conference room, box of rocks. Kind of moving around. Okay here we go. So these will be roll-up doors that go out. They’ll be outdoor kitchen, koi pond, fire pit, the whole deal. And now we’re moving out to the paintball course. Let me just, we’re walking out here through the paintball course. That’s Tim Redman’s office. Here we go, we’re walking out. Walking out, headed towards the paintball course. Pergola, koi pond, outdoor. Here we go, making our way out. Here we go, yeah. Jason, you don’t have to help me come up with crazy stuff. I got rocks and boulders we can hide behind. I’m going to put in like hay bales and whatever it’s going to be. I guess those old huge wire spools. Yeah, it’s going to be game changing. I’m going to love this place. Oh, shakababa. Big 40. Here we go. So you walk back here, and this guy used to quarry out rocks and stuff. So it’s surrounded by trees on all sides. Let’s get further in. Here is the future paintball course right now. Look, that is the actual burn pile right now for this week. We’re just taking all the trees we have to tear down when we’re building things, and we’re burning them there. Oh, shakababa. They’re massive. OK, so you guys can kind of see the deal. But the idea is, I want to do the bonfire, too. And Jason, I’m thinking. That’s what I was just about to say. Yeah, you’ve got to make that bonfire an event, because that’s going to be epic. I mean, that’s a huge pile of wood. But I think it changes the conference entirely. It does. When it’s 7 o’clock on Friday, there’s a bonfire, you’re meeting entrepreneurs. I mean, the whole relationship doesn’t change. Nobody’s going to want to leave. Doesn’t it change? Yeah. I mean, even now. One of the things about it, so like I had a lot of newer clients come to this, and like they had already bought into the system. They loved the fact that they got to meet you. They’re working through their path with me and they’re feeling a connection because we’re intentional. They feel like somebody cares about them. Then they come here and they’re like, the connections here are even better. It’s like a family. Like Placid, he’s been to, I think, two conferences now. I hope he keeps coming to them because he added so much value to so many people. He really did. We were doing a training on how to train your people and I had him come up and I had he and Ryan with Flow Photography. And Ryan was trying to explain at Flow Photography you can’t teach somebody how to do photography by handing them a handbook. You use a checklist but they got to do hands on much like with carpet cleaning. And he was able to do a warm up and teach people how he teaches people to get in shape. It’s phenomenal. You know I want to put one thing and it’s probably already on your list, but if it’s not, it should be on here because everybody… No, it’s going to be on. Brainstorm it out, baby. Everybody that mentions this, everyone you’ve had on this show mentions one thing. Breck does it. Jason does it. I do it in the carpet cleaning is that you need to plan out your day. You need to set down all the stuff you need to do, and then you need to go out there and do some physical activity to free up the brain fog, to get the blood pumping. The best ideas I’ve had while I’m in the middle of a large carpet cleaning. Nothing else to do, just sitting there going, and all of a sudden, boom, idea comes. Not when I’m trying to force the idea. I’ve already put a plan in place, I’ve already scheduled my day, now I’m doing some physical exercise to get the blood pumping. And all of a sudden, the ideas you had before. So I think the end of the conference is going to be awesome because now they’ve sat all day, they’ve brought all this information in, now they’ll physically do something and the information can then settle in. Now they can have those epiphanies that you can’t get while you just think about something. You have to go do something. We’re trying to avoid getting shot with a paintball. Yeah. I just feel, and you guys correct me if I’m wrong here, and I’d like to get your feedback on this because this is something I’ve been working through last night, again this morning. I spent a couple of hours this morning already kind of working through this. But I feel like you come to the conference on Friday and you go, man, love it. You’re kind of looking for something to do. So if at 4 o’clock we do the paintball, the buy-in of $50 and you can win $5,000. Split amongst your team, everyone’s going home with $1,300 apiece. You just pay for your trip and the conference. Isn’t that cool? Yeah. So I like that deal. I like the bonfire at 7. I think that’s a move. Throwing out ideas, you guys can throw out better ideas. Because especially after the conference, when the, quote unquote, the pressure’s off, you’ve attended, you’ve had your finale, but yet you still have people that, like you said, they want more, they wanna hang, they wanna do. And so you’ve got an opportunity, you’re creating an environment for these entrepreneurs to continue to connect with one another, to break down ideas, to share, to collaborate. And so I can see, yeah, people hanging out around the bonfire, people looking over the koi pond, just having conversations with other entrepreneurs that allows certain synergies to happen. I I do have one idea throw it out No, no, this is good. We can look at I want you we’re getting this principle I don’t lose the idea to make sure we’re getting this idea. You have to innovate in a disciplined way So when you’re through when you’re filling the room with with ideas I look at a brainstorming is like you have a room and you can fit so many helium balloons in the room You just fill it up fill it up and then you pop your way out of the room. You pop the bad ideas or the ideas that aren’t implementable out, but you need a lot of ideas. So you’ve got to have the freedom to present ideas, and those ideas should solve problems for your ideal and likely buyers. So as we’re thinking, what we’re doing right now, Thrive Nation, on this show, you’re hearing it happen, is we’re taking what is already the world’s highest rated small business workshop, and we’re going to the next level. There are things that we’ve wanted to do that you have suggested over the years. Many of you suggested it’d be so cool if we could do this after the conference, if we could do that after the conference. And we’re going to do it, but as we fill the room full of ideas, we then have to document the plan and add this to the master agenda. Otherwise it doesn’t get done. Otherwise it doesn’t get done. Otherwise it’s a good idea, poorly executed, so Jason what’s your idea? So the whole idea is to make it inclusive for all of our guests, give them something to do. However, I do think we should have one like excluding rule, like put up some and I will commission the person to make the sign, but I think we need to have a big sign next to the bonfire that’s not flammable that says no acoustic guitars slash Skyler’s because there’s nothing like a bonfire that attracts a guy named Skyler who can play four chords and we’re gonna have to hear Wonderwall over and over and the clients don’t need to be subjected to that. Wonderwall? Yeah. Wait a second. I love this. I love what you’re doing. I’m just I’m trying to keep it where like I don’t want Breck to be alienated because this we’re trying to have a conversation and the guys just like… I love Wonderwall. Yeah but I don’t want to hear it for two hours straight. Come on. I worked really hard to get this is what can happen at Jason’s campfire events here. Here we go. I remember this song. I haven’t thought of this song in forever, dude. Yeah, wait, wait, you’re singing the song. How do you know all of the lyrics? Today’s gonna be the day that they’re gonna do. Everybody now! I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now. Now all of a sudden the whole mood shifts. I think you have to hold your nose while singing. The water’s on the street and the fire in your eyes is down. Oh the bass. Oh my gosh. And you know. Oh great, now it’s going to be at the conference for sure. Now listen, this is what’s going to happen next. After you do that, you’re like, hey man, that’s cool man. Because it’s like, uh huh. Because once you’re done, it’s hard to follow it up. So what you do is… Well then he goes directly into Santeria by Sublime. So to come back… No, no, so one second. You just said an offensive thing. No, listen, I know a lot about awkward campfire singing because I did a lot of youth group as a kid what happens is people do not do sublime you said what song? Santeria. Because it has too much upbeat what happens is it get gradually it’s a more and more introspective yeah and pretty soon people are doing more than words mm-hmm and then someone’s like true I just got a divorce. Good riddance by Green Day. And then people that don’t know each other are making out in the woods that’s what happens every time. If you’re going to Green Day you’re going to Basket Case obviously. Back to you there. Do you have the time? Unbelievable. On a positive side, to combat the hemp, barefoot, Birkenstock guitar player is that you need to have a DJ at the bonfire. We’ve got to have a DJ. You need a full-on DJ set up around the bonfire to keep the energy high. True. I’ll work through this. Do you have the time? I’ll work through this. Listen to me whine. So you have point, but again, the conference is over Friday at four. We’re all in agreement. Paintball makes sense. Yep. Okay. Well, and I want to put one thing, sorry, while we’re throwing spaghetti soup into ideas, there needs to be something, because I can tell you, there are women who do attend the conference and they come and they glean a lot of great information for their awesome businesses and I’m going to tell you, my wife being one of them would probably not sign up for paintball. It’s okay. Now, they may watch me get hit by paintball, so that may be like, you know, where you… She may pay extra. She may pay extra to watch me get hit by paintballs. Well, no, half the fun of this is watching other people get shot. Like a firing squad. I mean, a lot of this is just watching other people. It’s like blood support. That’s an idea. You could just line them up, like, point blank and let the spout shoot the other. We’ll do like that guy at the fair, the dunk tank, where he’s just like, hey, hey, you in the stupid hat. You throw balls at him until he falls in the water. I’ll be that guy. You can shoot me. Okay, so an actual thing here. Sorry, one last thing. Sorry to interrupt you. Go for it. One thing we actually did on my honeymoon, we went to Hawaii. And on the north side, on the Hilo side of Hawaii, we went up there to see one of the – they’ve got some of the biggest cattle ranches on the big island of Hawaii. I just love it. I’ve been back many times. We’re up there and they have a large rodeo, a full-on rodeo. And at the end, they have a chance to win $5,000. So we got $5,000 on the thing. You know what you need to do? Six men get into the pen and they let a bull out. You’ve got a hula hoop on the ground. You’ve got to keep one foot in that hula hoop with a live bull in the arena. You’ve got the bull vest on. And so the first person to leave their hula hoop, this is an actual thing. I’ve seen this, but it was like people sitting at a card table. This is an actual thing. Whoever’s last standing or sitting at a card table. So that bull turns and looks at you. The trick is if you don’t move, he won’t go for you. But you start moving, he sees the motion and you see guys just running and jumping and trying to get out of the pen fast. As the last guy with his foot still in the hula hoop, he gets the $5,000. I’m going to tell you, somebody to get the $5,000, it wasn’t me. I was out of that. As soon as that bull was let into the ring, I was like, no, I’m out. I’m out. I was trying to look brave for my team. I get horned by a bull, and I’m not leaving a good review. Yeah. Hey, you stepped into that ring, man. So a safe version of that could be let everyone who wants to, like five or 10 guys, and then everyone else gets a paint gun and the first person to leave the firing squad is the winner. Or Steve Carrington in a bull suit. He’ll horn you. That sounds really weird. I went to a new place right there. I feel like I kind of went to Hawaii with that. That was impressive. Okay, so now we continue. We continue. So again, what we got to do is we got to have an event though. We got to be intentional and I’m making sure this applies to everybody listening. You have to think about this. So if we do the paintball, we need 10 guns if we’re going to play 4-on-4. This is true. And we need the paintballs needed for this. Then you need… Jason, walk us through. You’ve done paintballing much more than I have. What else do we need? You’ve got to have masks, otherwise we’re going to have lawsuits on our hands. 10 masks. What else do you have? You have to have the CO2 tanks. Okay, CO2 tanks. You have to have backup CO2 to fill the tanks. Backup CO2. You have to have the paintball ammo. Okay. Like thousands of rounds. Lots, yeah. Yep. You’re going to have to have some form of bandana or tape to mark what team is what. Okay, so bandana, oh, so you have to have like red bandana? Yeah. And then blue bandana. When we went to play, they just used like white duct tape, and of course I went in the tank top, so they wrapped duct tape around my arm. That was fun to get off. Oh, yeah. Let’s see, what else? We’ve got masks, we’ve got CO2, we’ve got markers. Now, are these going to be just single-shot guns? Are they going to allow automatic? Are they going to allow semi-automatic? Are they going to allow the 500 hopper? Everyone will have the same gun. Everyone will have the same gun. You’ve got to have a boundary line, you know, kind of a perimeter. That’s a good point, boundary lines, okay. Now, what type of games are we playing? Are we playing full-on just domination, or are we going to do capture the flag, or are we going to do where you have to hold your place? Like everyone has to attack and get in the building, you’ve got to protect the building. I want to do, it’s like it’s two teams of four. And the last person. Crash man stand. Death match. Death match. You call it death match? Yeah. Okay, I didn’t know that’s what you call it. Oh man, back in the Call of Duty days, that’s elusive. Paintball death match style. Okay, great. So that’s the deal. Okay. And then after that, we got the whole bonfire thing going. Now I’ve talked to the Master Machine guys, they talked about doing the meat smokers, which is great. I think everyone likes meat. It takes the pressure off of having to cook anything. We can get that done. They do the bean bag toss thing. Cornhole? Cornhole, yeah. And I feel like that’s like a bonfire-y kind of thing to do. And it’s easy to do, and it’s not super stressful, and I just feel like it’s a move. If you’re going to have cornhole, you need to also have horseshoes. Have a horseshoe set up with a stake out there. Guys are just… It’s the most frustrating game to play. Horseshoes? Yeah, if you get it, I mean not the plastic ones. See, that’s the thing. I feel like cornhole is this generation’s horseshoes. Yeah. Oh, you gotta bring out the real. And they’re not metal, and so there’s less damage done when they misfire. Solid metal. Oh, solid damage. Do you have to choose one of the others at cornhole or? I don’t think you have to. No. No, you gotta do it. I’d say do both, but. Well, because the thing is, you want everybody kind of in the same area. Yeah. You know what I mean? You get two separate. I’m sick of cornhole. Okay now and then and then at 830 American badass trivia it’s like What president got shot and then continued giving his speech that kind of stuff, you know I mean like that kind of stuff our business tool. We’re gonna work through that I think we wrap up around 930, you know that kind of thing. That’s fair. It’s like a pretty good agenda I think it’s a great I would vote 9 just because getting entrepreneurs to stop at a certain point, that’s probably 9.30 to 10 before they really wrapped it up. You got to give them an early, it’s like the first call. Okay. I’m adjusting this right now. So four o’clock we start the death match paintball. We, bonfire maybe starts at six. I mean, that’s the move, but it’s going to get dark. Maybe we go, okay, I’m working through it. But anyway, so we’ll work through the details, but then now Saturday, Saturday, three on three basketball. Yeah. I feel like that’s a move. That’s definitely a move. Okay, so three on three basketball, so we’ve got that going on. Now the conference ends at three. But they’ve got to know about it ahead of time, so they bring their sneakers. Now if you’ve got three on three basketball, there’s going to be some of the guys who are no longer athletically able, but they still play basketball. So there’s got to be like an also… Like watching the donkey basketball. The thing that all the kids love when you go to do a basketball camp is they all want to do knockout. They all want to be up there, three point or a free throw line knockout where you’re just sitting there, who could be the last guy still standing that doesn’t get knocked out? They got at least one knockout tournament. Now do you, most people, I feel like, Jason, you talked to the attendees. I feel like most people are going home Saturday night. Like leaving to go back to wherever they came from. Yeah, or are they going back Sunday? What are you feeling? So for all of my clients, all of them said they were leaving either early Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon. So they’re here Friday, Saturday night looking for something to do. So Saturday night we need to go strong with other things. So you’re suggesting knockout? What is this game you speak of? You know, where you line up on the free throw line, somebody’s right behind you with the ball ready to, if you miss your shot, then if they make theirs first, then you’re out. So the guy behind you can make your shot before you get yours in, you’re out. And if you can make yours in, then you go behind him and try to get him out. What are other things that people do, what are kind of other events we could do? If you guys have been to a camp, a family camp, some retreat where you go, that was cool, what else? Is there anything else that’s great? If we do a cornhole one day, maybe we do horseshoes the next day. I was just wondering if there’s like a vista point where you can see from the land, you know, where… And rappel? Well, or even just, you know, like you can see downtown Tulsa or there’s like a great view where, you know, people can just kind of chill, relax, like I said, kind of percolate on ideas. I don’t know, I haven’t been to the land, but I don’t know if there’s any higher elevation that allows you to kind of, you know, look out. Not currently. Okay. Not currently. Okay, not currently. No We have a big pond though. Mm-hmm a big pond so it could be like fire pit pond Hangout area. Yeah, maybe do fire pit pause where the horseshoes are at maybe so you do like fire pit pond horseshoes more grilling Yeah, yeah, cuz if you’re if you’re gonna go over by the pond, you’ve got a great lookout right there It’d be a great place to set up horseshoe So in that way people or the bonfire actually because there’s a lot of gravel and contain the fire but I mean either either way you slice it that’s a Well, yeah, the events are gonna work as long as there’s a medical release properly signed One thing that’s just just crap loads of fun is axe throwing you being serious. Oh, yeah Will oh that is that is a that is a genuine thing to do that is fun All you need to do is paint a target on some board and then once it’s destroyed, it’s so cheap to do also, because you can go to Home Depot to get these supplies. Hell, you can go to like an antique store to get just axes to throw. Did you say Antifa store? Yeah. Well, I mean, they throw things at Antifa. That’s true. I’m sure they can hook us up. They’re more of a baseball bat style. I know a guy who, we could practice brick throwing. We’re already setting fires, I mean, come on. So is axe throwing a thing? Oh yeah. Are you serious? That was one of the things we did for my bachelor party. There is a place in Broken Arrow that’s sadly no longer there, but they did I Wish We Could Do Go-Karts. I mean, if you want to, I could try and figure out how we can do half paintball course, half go-kart. That’d be great. That’s wishful thinking. But axe throwing is lucrative. There’s a place in Jinx. There’s a place in Broken Arrow. There’s a place downtown Tulsa. If people show up, drink beer, and just throw axes at a board, and they have a blast. We did this for our New Year’s Eve activity at Gotwood in Jinx. It was fun. Great name of a business. Great name of a business. What are other things? Let’s see. Because I think fire pit at seven makes a lot of sense. So at seven you’re in the fire pit, and you’ve got the grilling going on. We can’t forget the grilling. So you’re at the fire pit. You’re at the… Are we thinking like hasty bake? We’re thinking master machines smoking stuff. We are all a bunch of dudes, so there’s a lot of testosterone in most of these ideas, which is great. So what you’re saying is we need to do life-size beer pong. Have you seen that? That is life-size. Life-size. You get trash cans and you paint them to look like solo cups and then you just shoot like a deflated basketball and it’s a drinking game. Oh. Well, I was going to say, Clay should bring in his mother-in-law because she’s got some great ideas that would be great for the more not-so-testosterone-fueled members of the Thrive Nation that will be coming. They’re listening to this, they’re going, that does sound aggressive and full contact. Is there something that’s a little bit more soothing? And she’s got some great massaging ideas that there may be a section for the… Are you trying to say we should get a back rub chanter on the bonfire? Well, not for the guy. Are you wearing rope sandals? Listen, I just see there’s the testosterone side of it, jumping in. We’re going to need to leave our brothers with more estrogen that have the females in the group that are saying, hey, what can… Whoa! I’m not going to say that everyone… We have counterparts, they’re called ladies. There are ladies, and there are some that are just a little bit more slow. They’re just a little bit more relaxed, they’re a little bit more… Did you just say they’re slow because they’re women, Nathan? That took a turn for the worse. Just a second, when you are digging a hole, stop digging. You need a rope, not a shovel. Again, what we’re doing today is we are teaching everybody out there the supreme routine to make every day count. OK? So step one, you’ve got to invest one hour per day to plan your day. That’s true. That’s great. Two, you’ve got to create a checklist of repeatable tasks. But three, when you want to improve the business, so this week at Elephant in the Room, we have a deal where if you buy a membership, you also get any one of my books that you want. True. And I think that’s a great idea. Will it work? Will it not? We don’t know. I’ve heard good feedback so far, but we’ll measure. We always define what we think is going to work. Someone should write this down. The rhythm of entrepreneurship is define, act, measure, refine. You define what you think is going to work. You act, then you measure the results, and then you refine. Step three, we’ve got to innovate in a disciplined way. We’ve got to make sure it’s not just random ideas we’re throwing out to the universe. We’ve got to take the time. It’s just nothing is worse than attending a poorly executed Anything yeah true. I just I just You ever been to like a bad party somebody who clearly they just had the idea to have a party But they did not think well we need refreshments. We need food We need something for people to do that It’s just people sitting there, and this is not even having chairs to sit on exactly This is not a dig at anybody who loves me. This is just a dig in general. I really, really, really cannot stand it when people throw me a birthday party because it’s always whack. Every time. Any time I’ve ever had a party that I’ve liked, I’ve organized every aspect of it and it’s been fine. Dr. Z does the same thing. I just can’t handle a lame party because it’s just weak. I’ve had… I came over here and watched a football game last season and it was great. I mean there were people, there was food in one area, there were people that were at the, you know, wanting to watch the game, others who wanted to mingle. They weren’t in front of the people trying to watch the game. The only people that I wanted to be there were there. All great people, all great fathers. All random relatives. It was great. Now, point four, you’ve got to use a day pump. You have to use a day planner. You have to use a day planner. I’m not going to beat you over the head with what specific brand. I’m saying print it out. Please print it out. Please don’t tell me that you didn’t print it out because I have yet to have a successful client that does not print out or have some sort of schedule. The doctors I work with have a schedule. They go, they might have an assistant that says, coming up at 9, you see this person. At 10, you’re seeing this person. At 11, you’re seeing this person. Absolutely. A complete carpet. I know you have a schedule of when you’re going, where you’re going, but if you just are in your head, man, it all falls apart. Well, we even take it to the next level. We print one out for each of our employees. Come on now. We put on there what they’re going to do, what’s at the job, what’s on the time. Because sometimes you’re really eyeing on digital technology, guess what’s going to happen the moment you need to go to your next job? Your internet’s going to go out. And you’re not going to be able to pull that app up on your phone. If you don’t have a physical copy to be able to quickly look at, or if you’re driving and you can’t pull your phone out, you need something that you need. So even, this helps our employees too by giving them their whole day, all 12 hours broken down by two hour chunks exactly what’s going to be involved in each of those jobs. We do a three-minute meeting on the schedule every morning. But do you guys see the irony of not having… so to Clay’s point, using the day planner, whether it be printing out your calendar, using the like getting one of those like the everyday like to-do list binders you can buy at like Target or whatever, it’s like half calendar, half journal. The irony of planning your day for an hour and then not printing it out and taking it with you, you just wasted an hour. You woke up, got a lot of stuff done as far as implementation goes for planning your day and then now you get to work and you’re like, you get to the action step. Yeah, don’t do it. Yeah, that’s like using your trip metaphor from earlier, that’s like planning a long distance trip and not getting gas. You’re like, well, crap. Or you fill the gas up, you just left it at home. Yeah, exactly. It’s victory every day. We’ve got to make sure that you win every day. Consistency, absolutely. And if you win every day, and you do that for a year… You’ve won. Right. So right now, John and I are pushing two more books across the finish line. One of the books, I don’t have the working title, is How to Not Win Friends and How to Not Influence Anybody. I can’t wait for that one. That is pretty good. But I mean, I’m wrapping that up, but simultaneously we’re doing this show, and you say, how do you do that? But then we’re also pushing out mastermind manuscript, and you say, how do you do that? It’s by having a routine. So again, step one, invest one hour per day to plan your day. We got that? Step two, create a checklist of all the repeatable tasks you do over and over. Step three, innovate in a disciplined way. It is okay to have big ideas and dreams. You can think outside of the structure, but write that crap down. Because we’ve already discussed, I’ve learned a lot today from Jason. I asked, what is all the stuff we need for paintball? I didn’t know it was called death match style, that’s cool. I didn’t know that we needed red bandanas and blue bandanas. I didn’t know we needed boundary lines from Dr. Breck. I just knew, I’ve done paintballing before and it’s kind of fun. It’s also fun to watch people get shot at at their expense if you’re not playing. And what I’m trying to do, and I want to make sure the listeners get this, I’m trying to design an experience for the people that like our program. So like Randy Antrikan likes our program for the same reason that Lauren Rocket left me a bad review on Google, because she can’t do it. She’s sensitive. I think Antrikan would be an animal on the paintball. He will be. I have to be on his team. I’m saying this about Lauren Rocket by name because she decided to mention me by name on a Google review and she worked for me like 12 years ago. I’m just saying, Lauren, I haven’t talked to you in 12 years. I remember you being a pretty good videographer. I remember you couldn’t take the heat, so you peaced out. So now you leave a review 12 months later. So if you came to a conference and you’re like, I don’t want to get shot, I don’t want you coming. Right. Because I know who my ideal and likely buyer is. Think about our clients. Think about who they are. Top clients. You mentioned who? I mentioned so, like Martin Minimo. Placid. Placid. These are people that don’t take sick days. Yep. Kevin with Multi Clean. Let’s see who else is there. Stephanie Pipkin with Black River, is it Black River Falls? Of course, Randy Antrikan, Steven Hall with Mod Scenes. They’re kind of all the same person. Oh, they are. Every single one of them, they plan their day, they’re super intentional, they show up, they’re very goal-focused. And they would be irritated if there wasn’t something to do next. Yes. They would be like, what are we doing? So I have to do, and we’re going to get more detailed here, but Nathan threw out the idea of doing the horseshoes. I like that, but I can’t be like, okay guys, we’re going to grill, at 8 we’re going to do axe throwing, at 9 we’re going to do go-karts. Whatever we’re going to do, they have to know that. Now again, step 4 though, you’ve got to have a day planner. You’ve got to have a day planner. All you do. And now step 5, you have to have a to-do list. A to-do list. Jason, there’s a wonderful young lady at the conference, she says, Clay, you need to listen to this song called Beautiful Eulogy, Release Me From The Snare. Or as Clay Stares would say, Release Me From The Snakes. No, she said that. I’m going to listen to it right now, because I said I was going to. It could be a song that I don’t like. It could be a song I do like. But you know what I’m going to do? Well, we’re about to find out. Yeah, because I said I would listen to it. So I’m going to cue it up here. No pressure. We’re going to watch your reactions. Here we go. I have my YouTube channel. It’s got a normal play. It starts off. It’s a good start. It’s got the nature scene to go with us here. Here we go. Okay, it’s got nature. It appears to be well shot. 294,000 views. It’s rain at this point, I believe. I don’t have proof. It could be urination. Let me see here. Wait for the camera. Definitely, that’s a stream. My mic is on. Okay, here we go. Now, there’s still a lot of b-roll here a lot of detail shots of a forest Here we go You know, I might like this group or I might not I don’t know it’s what happens I’ll give you my immediate reaction This has got some speed to the rhythm I did not cover my iniquity. There’s nowhere to hide from your own seeing eyes. You know everything, I can’t tell you a lie. You know my own heart much better than I. You know when I sleep and you know when I rise. You know all the thoughts that go through my mind. From morning to night, every moment of pride. I acknowledge my sin to you and I did not cover my iniquity. You know what I’ve done, you know what I do. So I open my mouth and confess it to you. And you’re making me new, it’s your spirit at work. Think of me as sin, so I know where to turn and I know where to run. Run to your own, still be cleansed of my sin by the blood of your son. Hey, I acknowledge my sin. I know I can’t kill it with a knife or a gun. It must be crucified on the cross for your son. Then I can know that it’s finished and done. Then I can know that I’m truly forgiven. And get to the business of living for you. And it’s not for my glory, but only for you. And it speaks of your mercy and love and your truth. Give me the faith to believe what you say. And the trust in your word when I’m tempted astray. And to patiently wait for the day you return. I know hope will pass away, while I’m still here you hear my prayer. Please wash my sins away, oh lord release me from this snare. I know hope will pass away, while I’m still here you hear my prayer. Please wash my sins away, oh lord release me from this snare. Oh God, my sin is great, there’s no escaping it. I hate my sin but I still partake in it. I become known to the touch from feeling it. I’ve learned the art and skill of concealing it. I might pretend to keep my composure, hoping never to disclose the truth that it exposes. I might pretend to keep my composure, hoping never to disclose the truth that it exposes. I might pretend to keep my composure, hoping never to disclose the truth that it exposes. I’ve learned the art and skill of concealing it I might pretend to keep my composure, hoping never to disclose the truth that it exposes And even though nobody around me knows it, God, you notice it when I’m alone, it shows it I do a good job doing good deeds, look the right door cause I say the right things Trusting your word in what’s best for me, but it seems that I still live in disbelief I’ll begin to better understand confession when I understand the weight of my sin And it’s affected how it’s a direct reflection of my selfishness And recognize your correct assessment I don’t have to hide behind my own pride, tear myself up from the guilt inside My take is this, I think their lyrics make sense, I need a melody, that’s what I need, I need a melody. So I would say, Flo, I’m gonna give it a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of their lyrical content, I gotta have a melody and if I have a melody though I’m down if I can’t have a melody I can’t do it And I that’s just the universal rule that I have I will say that’s not what I was expecting at all really a lot more Like a prayer like a chance like listening to Romans 7 and 8 it’s a lot of truth in that Yeah, I mean just you know I mean, it’s there’s a lot of content truth in what they’re saying But yeah, I get what you’re saying as well clay. Let me cue up a song that I can do and then maybe that way if I get another song recommendation. Because you know when you recommend a food for somebody there’s always a chance that they’re not going to like the food. You like spicy right? Well let’s do I like this. This is what I like. This would be, I might have to do some editing, but this is Mike Posner one take done with Sammy Mills and here we go let me cue it up here. This is one take. It has to have a melody for me if it doesn’t have a melody I can’t do it and I appreciate the recommendation. This is all one take by the way it’s called We Own It. Not to be played with because it can get dangerous. Mike Posner’s on the piano. This moment we own it. Now I just feel like I’m gonna win. Hold me Westside, that’s my game. Beneath the beautiful, that’s my pain. You trying to get dope, but I just am. I was born with it, did a tour with it. I’ve been blessed I done went shore to shore with it Now I’m trying to help a couple kids do more with it Got some tracks on the wall and I’m still dope I’m just trying to show the people that it’s still hope You buy an album and we stir up a meal, bro The label’s like, that’s gonna cost you a meal, bro No fear, God told me to And mama don’t believe in that, but I know it’s true We came to spread a little love, that’s what we’re gonna do. Found the famous in the house, that’s the only crew. One side, everything rides on two. Night, even if I got three stripes. I like hip-hop and R&B. So it’s hip-hop and R&B, I can do that all day. That’s what I can do. That’s the kind of music I can handle. From the A, B, C, D, and how you connect to it? Mike Posner is highly underrated. No, he’s great. He’s just not trying to write pop songs. That’s the deal. That’s great. I agree. The thing, there’s a lot more development, there’s a lot more complexity. I mean, from one comparison to the other. I mean, it’s like one is a simple wine, say from Oklahoma, where you just don’t get that complexity, you don’t get the full body. I appreciate the sentiment. Of a California wine. I appreciate the sentiment. I agree with what you said. I appreciate the sentiment, but I want to make sure we’re getting these five ideas. I want to make sure we go back to these. If we have a show and you leave the show saying, what was that show about? That’s a bad show. That’s a bad show. That’s a bad show. So let’s talk about it again. These are five moves you can use to create the super routine. It’s the supreme routine to make every day count. So one, invest one hour per day in planning your day. Breck does it at night. I do it in the morning. Either way, just get it done. Point two, create a checklist with repeatable stuff. Complete carpet. I mean, if you did not have a checklist for every job, it’d be hell. The jobs wouldn’t get done. It’d just be crazy. We’d get called back on every job. And we’ve all had somebody show up for a speech or an event or something without a plan, without a checklist. It’s almost unbearable. Point three, innovate in a disciplined way. It’s okay to fail, but you’ve got to scale you got to come with what you believe to be a good idea And then you have to execute the idea. Will you have universal acceptance of the ideas? No, well everybody be on the same page. No, that’s why for our playlist in the office people suggest a song Yeah, I’d say one at 20 yeah makes it on the list. I keep saying we need to add two pox How do you want it and somehow it doesn’t end up on the playlist. Do you really suggest that? Yeah. Do you really? That’s such a good song. If you play that, you’re going to have to put some edits on there. I know I would. I know. It’s so good, though. You can’t hear that song. Do you need to put edits on there or just need to edit it? I don’t like to dance, but every time you hear that song, it just makes you want to move. Tupac is the man. Okay. We continue. We move on. We move on. Now, so point three, innovate in a disciplined way. Point four, though, you’ve got to make sure, folks, you’ve got to use a day planner every day. Use a day planner every day. And point five, use a to-do list. And as a bonus pro tip, go to the Cardinal Club. I don’t make a commission for pitching this place, but the food was so great. It was. Both times. You loved it, didn’t you? Yeah, I was mind-blown. I mean, you’ve never steered me wrong as far as a referral has gone, a recommendation. It was better than I expected. And you know food. I do. I mean, you’re a culinary guy. I don’t recommend a lot of places to eat, but that place did a great job. It’s Brahms or nothing really the J. Did you meet a Travis up there? I did. Yeah, he came over introduced himself. He’s a sharp guy. I tell you cut yourself just looking at him That’s how sharp are you? That’s right. Okay, we’re gonna wrap up today’s show with a boom anything you want to add there? No Yeah Before you do the reason you want to do all five of these steps the reason this is so vastly Important especially the entrepreneur out there is that if you don’t plan your day somebody else will and And so you need to make sure that what’s happening that day, something’s going to happen. And it’s either going to be what you have defined for your day, so you can have an amazing, awesome day, or it’s going to be what other people are going to make you do. You’re going to have the God of minutes. You’re going to have everything else. And if it’s not on your schedule, it doesn’t get done. So make sure you’ve planned your day so that nobody else will plan it for you. Folks, I’m excited to be here with you each and every day. Many of you have asked me, how come you guys don’t sell commercials or advertisements? It’s because I want to be able to say whatever we need to say. I don’t want to feel like I have to push a vendor that I wouldn’t recommend. Yesterday, somebody came up to me and said, do you recommend this particular attorney? Do you recommend this particular accountant? I said on the stage, and James was right there. I said, just because James is here doesn’t mean I recommend him or I don’t. You said I recommend that you get two or three quotes, or you talk to two or three people. I’ve been trying to pitch him on advertising my new one-hour millennial survival kit, and he just won’t put it on the show. I don’t understand. It’s a genuine kit, just how you can keep a millennial for just one more hour at your workplace. It’s just a brilliant idea. I’m sure people will be willing to pay lots of money to… He shakes his head like it’s a terrible idea. I don’t understand. We’re throwing away a fortune. All right, now, folks, without any further ado, let’s end the show with a boom. Three, two, one, boom. Boom. Stop what you’re doing and think about this for a second. What would happen if your company was suddenly able to generate exponentially more quality sales leads? That would be incredible. What would happen if your company came up at the top or near the top of the Google search engine results. Well, I would just feel overwhelmed with all that business. How many thousands of dollars in lost sales or millions of dollars in lost sales are you missing out on simply because your potential customers can’t find you when they go online to search for the products and services that you offer? Thank you This is your year to thrive Success you will find Today is your day And now is your time. Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. Proverbs 10 4. I’m here to tell you, you can do it if you can just motivate yourself. 12 Damascus had to cut off a few, so on the day D, you and I could rendezvous. A misshapen tree that I had to prune, I had to make cuts to be here daily at noon. So like a tidal wave, a knowledge monsoon, I could rain on the parade for those who doubt and you Are you the next Rockefeller or the next guru? Or the next Dr. King who’s changing the rules? What was in your way would you run right through? Like a running back, force the one that’s up to you I remember my days back in the door room Toon to the gloom like the temple of doom Overwhelmed with the doubts that try to consume My hope for the future that I could pursue But from the mountain top now I can conclude That you have what it takes if you want the view to win This is your year to thrive Success you will find Today is your day And now is your time If you’re here to thrive Success you will find Today is your day And now is your time This moment is profound cause you’re above the ground Your road might have been rough but what you got now is now We’re here to pick you up and to even show you how But you gotta be resourceful with that old pow pow Started from the bottom but I worked my way up Cause by 4am I always been prayed up Rise and grind now’s your time don’t give that up You gotta get it don’t quit it till your seeds grow up See it see it it’s your year to thrive Success you will find. Today is your day, and now is your time. If you’re here to thrive, success you will find. Today is your day, and now is your time. We all have a wish and we all want to win, But we cannot begin without self-discipline. If you fall on your face, put yourself up again, I taught yourself to close, not fail with a friend When the storms get rough and they scatter and leave You only deal it with yourself and what you believe We believe in you, but not as much as God does If you’re going through hell, he’s got nothing but love Apply what you’ve learned, increase what you’ve earned And in due time, have money to burn Apply what you’ve learned, increase what you’ve earned And in due time you got money to burn So apply what you’ve learned, increase what you’ve earned In due time you got money to burn With this big ol’ miracle, I’d like to shout down the doubters Kill the weeds that be killing your dream flowers Empower you to devour All the obstacles that make your sweet dreams flower As for me, I used to stut stut stutter But now I’m on the microphone smooth like butter If I can do it, I know you can too, but you must stick to it like postage do And while Merton’s on the chorus, singing what he sings, I encourage you to dream big dreams Tonight, today is your day, today’s your day, and now is your time, it’s your time This is your time. Today is your day, and now is your time. Today is your day, and now is your time. I realize I can’t sing like that, but I can talk and play the woodblock. Okay, if you guys need me I’ll just be over… Sir, what is your name and what is your wife’s name? My name is Kenny Sutherland. This is my wife, Danielle. Okay, and how long have you guys been clients approximately? About eight months. And you’re here today to talk about, I believe, your growth. What has been your growth in the last eight months? 261 percent. Oh, wow. Now, I know that 99 percent of that 261 percent growth is accredited to her. Yeah, absolutely. But what do you do? What’s your role in the business versus what’s his role in the business? I do all things HR, so anything that applies to having employees, that’s what I do. She’s the people person. The people person. And sir, what’s the name of your website one more time so people can verify you’re real? Yes, highwaymansigns.com. Highwaymansigns.com. And how did you originally hear about us, sir? Through one of our clients, Co-op Fitness. Alright, well I know you have a date night planned tonight, but thank you for joining us and you guys, sir, you smell terrific. Love that beard. Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show. But this show does. Two men. Eight kids. Co-created by two different women. Thirteen multi-million dollar businesses. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Thriving Time Show. Now, 4, 2, 1, here we go! We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, and we’ll show you how to get here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Thrive Nation, so many of you have small businesses or aspirations to have a small business. And unfortunately, we can only work with about 160 of you at a time and that is because I have a staff of 47 employees and you might say well, why don’t you have 400 employees for my business consulting business? I only want to have 47 employees because I want to know all of the employees. I want to meet everybody I want to feel more like a football team than like a small city, you know I want to feel like a football team I want to know everybody’s name all the members of our team are great folks. And I want to know the customers. I want to know the clients that we work with, because when we work with a client, the client is kind of a walking billboard for us, so to speak, and meaning that if a client’s doing well, then maybe we’re doing a good job. And if a client’s not doing well, then maybe we’re not doing a good job. So last year, our average client grew by 104%. That was the average number. But these two clients here, they’re growing, they have grown their business by, and I don’t want to exaggerate, but I believe you’re up 261% in profit year over year. Kenny, is that an accurate number? Yeah, I think so. Okay, so Kenny, tell the listeners out there, what’s your first and last name? And then introduce us to your wife. Sure. My name is Kenny Sutherland, and this is my wife, Danielle. Now Danielle, how are you spelling Danielle? D-A-N-I-E-L-L-E. That sounds fair. Now what is the roles that you two have as a couple running the business? So I obviously operate the day-to-day, all the different things that go in the shop. We do, obviously, we’re a signage company. Up until recently, I did all the graphic designing. I even headed up most of the installations and everything. I now handle all of our HR. I do all of our group interviews every week. Anything that is related to our employees is what I do, making sure that they are healthy, they are thriving, and in turn our business is thriving. So what are the services that your company offers there, Kenny? And tell us, what’s your website? H-I-G-H-W-A-Y-M-A-N-S-I-G-N-S dot com. Highwaymansigns.com? Yes, sir. And what all do you guys do? We do everything that pertains to signage. We do lighted signs, channel letters, we do metal signage, we do decals, business cards, vehicle wraps, everything you can think of. Wall wraps. For our listeners, because we have in a typical week, we have well over a million listeners. If people are listening right now and they want to hire you for an auto wrap for their company, can you do that or do you service just to the Tulsa or Oklahoma area? We’ve done everywhere, pretty much everything that anybody asks for. We’ve done everywhere from Topeka, Kansas all the way down to Arlington, Texas, over in Arkansas and Joplin, Missouri. So anywhere we can go, we can mail, we’ll do it. So fire off, Danielle, if you can, just what are all the services that you guys provide? Just so the listeners out there who are visiting highwaymansigns.com, again, it’s highwaymansigns.com, so they can get kind of a mental picture of all that you can provide for them. Yeah, of course. So actually, if you go to our website, we have all of our services listed on there, and it’s really cool, because we have a ton of pictures associated with it, so you can actually get a visual of the products that we provide. So some of the bigger items that we do, and some are smaller, is yard signs. We do a lot of yard signs. A lot of people need yard signs. Banners, we do tons of banners. Like Kenny was saying, we do wall wraps. We do vehicle wraps. If you ever want a really good way to put your business on blast, a vehicle wrap really is one of the best. You do wall wraps? Yes, sir. Really? Yep. We have one actually in our daughter’s bedroom. Really? How big can these be? As big as you can make them. You know one of our clients, Kola Fitness. Yeah. So like behind me in our building, it says boom. You could do something like that? Yeah, absolutely. OK, yeah, because we’re moving tomorrow. I don’t know if you guys know. We’re moving into our new building tomorrow. I did not know that. Yeah. We’ve been here for seven years, and we’re just now moving here. So we finished building the building, but we’re moving everything. So tomorrow all this stuff’s moving. It feels a little bit like you’re in the Death Star from the third Star Wars where it looks like it might not work, but it does. We’re moving everything around right now. So now you guys, how did you originally hear about us there, Kenny? Through that same client, Co-Law Fitness, and we saw the growth he was getting and we were like, I want a part of that. Did you guys go to church with Charles? Or how did you meet Charles Cola Cola Fitness calm? I just met him through he came to us for some It started with little car decals, and he just said hey We’re doing some you know we weren’t we’re expanding and we want to change up our look and I wanted to know what we could do for him, and we basically started we gave him a new logo and Basically everything that he has now It started as a business partnership and we’ve grown to be friends over the years. Wow, okay. So you guys are growing the business and I want the listeners to, I don’t want to go over every single thing that we’ve done with you guys, but it started with a 13 point assessment. So we met in our office. So we met, I want to say about maybe 10 months ago, nine months ago? January, no, December. It was December. Yeah. December. Okay. So we met in December and we’re now in August. So we met and then we after we met we made a plan And we agreed that you guys would implement the plan and we would help you and you guys are now up by 261% in profit What all do you do in the business on a daily basis, Daniel? Like as far as like what a lead comes in when someone fills out the form when they go to highwaymansigns.com When do you interact with the customer? So I interact with the customers on a day-to-day basis. Even though I do HR, I make sure that my face is well known to all of our customers. I try to set an example for all of our employees on how we want our customers to be treated from the start of the product to the finish. So I do also help with training. We’ve got some new people that we just hired and myself and our regional manager have been doing some one-on-one training with our employees, and then also just making sure that our customers are 100% satisfied. If there’s ever an issue with a product or a service that we’re providing, whether it be timeline or anything at all, I insert myself and make sure that the customer knows that I’m gonna take care of them, and that at the end of the day, they’re gonna get what they came in for. So what are the areas of the business that you feel like you’ve improved the most? I’ll start with Kenny, and I’ll go to Danielle here. What part? Because again, I know for me, this is something that I, it’s very easy for me to understand this, but I think sometimes people, I don’t know if it’s pride or I don’t know what it is. But I just know for me, when I went to college at Oklahoma State University, I went to St. Cloud State, then I went to Oral Roberts University, I went to OSU. People say, why did you go to different colleges? I wasn’t interested in a degree, I was interested in learning how to do things. So I found the guy in my class who was best at Photoshop. I said to the guy, hey guy, can I pay you to teach me Photoshop? And he goes, sure. And he taught me Photoshop, thus saving myself years or months or whatever that is of guesswork. And so I pay accountants to help me with accounting. I pay lawyers to help me with the legal bills. I paid PR consultants to teach me how to do interviews or media. I’ve paid people to help me write books. But a lot of times entrepreneurs just kind of wing it and run through the minefield of life, kind of learning through trial and error. But now that you’ve worked with us, I hope that you learn some things quicker and faster. And what are some of the things that you’ve learned and actually implemented this year so far, Kenny? Oh gosh, I want to say one of the biggest things, well, the hardest thing for me was getting everything out of my head and on paper so we could actually like train people better because for a long time it was just like you said trial and error and I had all the knowledge in my head and so it was like training somebody I literally could not take my foot off the gas enough to get people to learn it so they literally had to just run next to me to learn it and now we’ve gotten everything on paper we’ve we’ve been able to uh you know like to the scripts and stuff like that actually kind of get everything out of this noggin and on paper so people can see that and actually be like, okay, train people faster. And we’ve hired, gosh, we’ve hired more people and interviewed way more people than we have. Now let’s talk about the interview thing. I mean this, I’m not being disrespectful or difficult or insane, but whenever I need to hire people, I’ve never had a struggle finding good people. So my process is, you know, we do ads every week on LinkedIn. And indeed, I put out a new commercial today. I’ll show it to you guys. I don’t have a commercial tomorrow. It’s like a two minute like, but I’ll put these out. It takes me like 15 minutes to make. I’ll play the audio. No people watching or can’t see it. But I put this out today. Let me see if I can get it here. OK, here we go. So my this is what my ad my ad says. This is my Facebook post today. It says, are you not a Marxist, godless communist, live in Tulsa, don’t want to wear a mask, don’t want to have to take the shot, I’m hiring now, earn up to $27 per hour, apply today by texting 851-0102. Note, Governor Sitt is not eligible to work here, we only want job candidates that live their values. Let me hit play. Hi, my name is Clay Clark and I am now hiring. I’m looking for great people like you. We have a job right now, we have two jobs open right now, where if your mind works and you try hard, you can make an average of about $22 to $25 an hour. And the only things I’m looking for is people that are diligent, hardworking, great energy. And you can’t be a communist, you can’t be a Marxist, you can’t be a member of Antifa. I need somebody who’s going to come to work, who loves this country, who loves the Lord, who wants to do a great job. And I put out this commercial and then I give out my phone number in it, you know. And so here we are today and I’ve got 238 people that have texted in looking for a job. And then, you know, that’s how I do it. And then I don’t interview people one on one. I never would do that. I bring them all in a group and every Wednesday night for my life at 530, anybody who wants a job, I interview them all simultaneously. And it’s crazy what you can learn, because when you tell somebody the interview’s at 5.30, like this one who just walked by, she’s the best. She just moved here from Florida. Great, great lady, I met her at a conference, her name’s Katie, with K-A-D-I. And she said, hey, I’d like the opportunity to work with you. Well, if she comes in, and we say the interview is gonna be at 5.30, and she shows up at 5.30, that’s like only, I mean, what are you guys finding maybe half the candidates show up anywhere close to on time we locked the door yeah yeah we locked the door so the interviews start at 5 p.m. exactly yeah at 5 p.m. that door is locked what percentage of people are there on time a third two thirds if they show up if they show what percentage of the people that say they want to be there actually show oh okay honestly it’s it’s it’s been a whirlwind of different stuff. 30%. Sometimes I’ll have two out of 15 show up. Got it. Sometimes I’ll have 16 out of 30 show up. Okay. And then, so when the interview starts, do you interview them, Danielle? Yeah, that’s me and our regional manager. We do that together. And so, and then the interview during the process, how does that process work? What do you say? How does it go? So we actually shadowed one of Colaw’s group interviews to kind of get an idea of how they do it and how we should implement ours so when they come in the first thing that we do is we have them fill out a Just a about me form and I’ve kind of tweaked it a little bit to really fit what it is that I’m looking for And an employee one of my biggest things really is what position did you apply for? If they don’t know what position they applied for they’re not a good candidate so So really what we do is we just, we show our now hiring video, sometimes I’ll show them our about us video. Up until five o’clock sometimes I’ll show some of the videos that we have of work that we’ve done so that they have something in the background if they finish their paper early and they wanna go ahead and just kind of dive into some of the stuff that we do. I do ask questions during the group interview too. And one of my favorite things to ask them is tell me something unique about yourself because that’s really when the personality start to come out and it’s really cool to see how people react. And so you’ve we’ve worked with you but you guys have implemented this I want people to make sure people understand this idea if you’re listening right now okay listen folks tonight’s my late night because we have cheerleading tonight and so cheerleading is kind of like my party night because when my kids do cheer, my wife and I have agreed that’s when I can stay late and work on stuff. So I’m working on stuff tonight. I’m excited about it. I want to talk to Justin James. He’s a shoemaker in I think North Carolina or something. Who makes shoes in America, pays Americans to make shoes. What? Yeah, he doesn’t use slave labor to make his shoes. What? Yeah, great. So he wants to become a client. I love this guy. And then we’ve got a Maga Hulk. You’ve seen Maga Hulk? You guys haven’t seen Maga Hulk? No. Oh my gosh, look at this guy. I love this guy. This guy. This is Maga Hulk. Oh, man. And he is a pro patriot slash bodybuilder guy. He’s huge. No, he’s crazy. Look at this. He’s just a man. And so this guy, I’ll be talking to him tonight. And I like it. I mean, there’s so many people that reach out that want to become clients. I don’t want to convince people to do the homework. I want to like work with people that actually are willing to put in the work and that’s what makes it such a joy to work with you guys is because our team’s always bragging on you. You mean you guys implemented the hiring, training and retaining processes to find good people. The online reputation management, a lot of times clients it’s new to them to manage their reputation but I’ve noticed you guys have been very intentional of asking your real customers for real reviews after you do a real service for them Kenny how much does that help your business? Oh? Tremendously we get a lot more we get a lot more Google you know calls like people to just search for us on Google or not even so for us to search for signs on Google and You know having all those new reviews help a lot And then we get a lot of out-of-state calls too because of it. And you guys, as far as the online advertisement, do we manage those ads for you? Do we turn them on? Are you doing online ads right now? And we track those and manage those with you? Okay, and I just know for me, man, when I was building my first DJ company, my first wedding business, my first entertainment company, DJConnection.com, I had to launch my own ads. And you put your ads up there, and there’s all these questions, like what zip code, what address, and are you advertising to men or women, and what age, and pretty soon I’m like in a black hole. I’m like I don’t know, maybe ClickFunnels work, man. I don’t know, man. And then, you know, because you start to see Tai Lopez videos and you start to click funnels, and all of a sudden you’re going, I don’t know. And then you run your ads, if you’re not careful, this is what I did when I was first starting out. You run your ads and you don’t really know how much you’re going to spend because it’s kind of weird how it works. Next thing you know, you get a multiple thousand dollar bill and you go, oh, shunda. So does that help having somebody helping you run your ads? Absolutely. I used to wear me out, bro. It’s been something of a, almost a nightmare for me because I’ve been wanting to get a website off the ground for so many years and I’ve tried, I built my own one myself and I’ve paid other people to build one and how to promote it and ads and I didn’t know any of it and all that and people just like I literally paid somebody a few thousand dollars to build a website and they got half of it done and then was asking for content and I’m like I don’t know what that means you know like I don’t know what SEO is I don’t know any of that stuff and we’ve learned we’ve learned all those things and where do you guys live what part of America do you live in we live in Skytook Oklahoma just a little bit north of Tulsa. And do you guys have any kids? Yes, we’ve got an 18-month-old. Wow, okay. And my wife’s a child. Oh boy. Thank you, Lord. Oh boy. Now, okay, so we have five kids. So we love the kids. What’s kind of your… And I’m not saying I’m a super person. I’m just… Because the business exists to serve the owner. That’s why I’m excited about helping you guys. Because I met you guys, I’m like, these are really cool people. And so I like to help really cool people because I know that God’s put dreams and visions in your life and things that he’s called you to do. And I think that the business exists to help you guys achieve those goals. Is there something kind of exciting that you’re working towards? Have you as a couple kind of thought about like where you want to take the business? And I’m not asking for specific details that you don’t feel comfortable sharing, but I’m just saying, is there something you guys are kind of excited about in the near future? Maybe an expansion or a new building or a new hire or a new truck or a new… what are you guys working on? Oh absolutely. We’ve got a list of goals because we’re really big into actually writing our goals down. You know, we can go… gosh, I mean as far as like yeah with the business growth… So you write your goals down? Yes, and it’s on our fridge so that we can see it every day. How long have you guys been married? Almost three years. Three years? How did you guys meet? We met at church. At church. What kind of church you guys go to? Non-denominational. Right now we’re going to church on the move. Does it matter to you, I’m just curious, because for me I can’t work with clients that don’t serve the same God as me because I think there’s only one God and I don’t want to help the bad guys, you know, especially when you know the bad guys agenda. Does that matter to you at all? Do you care about these things? Does it matter knowing that we have the same world views or do you not care about that? It matters to me. Also, I try to treat everyone like I would want to be treated. Jesus came here. He didn’t come to the well. He came to the sick. There he goes. That’s kind of how I look. If somebody comes in that’s a customer, it doesn’t exactly agree with my world views as long as… You want to love everybody like Christ love. Exactly. Okay. Okay. Treat everybody with respect. Just like, okay, so now I’m gonna ask you a question. It’s probably gonna paint you into a corner. I’ll give you time to think about it. Okay. Managing people, a lot of clients say as they grow, managing people is the hardest part. And I’m not saying it’s because all employees are difficult. I’m just saying, the personalities, the hours, a lot of women today are working women, a lot of men, you know, are sharing dad duties slash working, schedules are more complex. Is that, is managing people a difficult, what’s the most difficult aspect of running your company? 100%, it’s managing people. Yeah. Managing people. One of the things that has been hard is like implementing the systems has been great. Getting our people to follow all the steps has been tough. A lot of them have been with us for four or five years and so trying to get that through their head, hey, we’re doing things a little bit differently now, has been kind of a big hurdle. But we’ve made strides. I’m hearing your team is doing a great job. And I, again, comparatively speaking, because we work with a lot of different companies, and so I see clients that have a team that’s not willing to do anything at all, and some that take a while to learn. It sounds like your team is up to the challenge. Yeah. Yeah. And now, as far as growth goes, do you want to open up multiple locations or what’s the vision for the brand? I Are my main goal I want to get a online store going I want to be the the Vista print of signs like I want to get an online store They come in they put in there They can put in their own Graphics that they want or we can our team can design something for them and we can we can ship out vehicle wraps we can ship out any yard signs or decals or whatever they’re asking for or if they want to start franchises and they need a solid, dependable sign company to do all of their stuff, we can travel with them and travel all across the country and do all of their stores. Now for people out there that have not worked with our program before, I mean just tonight I was interviewed on a show that is somewhat going viral. So we’re getting just bombarded with probably one person, I don’t know, every 10 minutes reaching out for help. And I always try to tell people like, please don’t reach out to me if you’re actually not wanting to implement anything. You know, we’re not like a emotional support organization. We’re a business consulting business. But who do you think would be a good fit for what we do and who would not be a good fit just for anybody? You’ve been in the program for a while now. Yeah, I Would say anybody who is open to change open to jam you definitely definitely Have to be flexible with that if you’re not then it’s not a good option for you If you’re very much stuck in your ways, but if you’re wanting to see an active change not just in your business, but in your life, you’re definitely a good fit. Is your schedule, Danielle, getting different now? Is it improving your personal schedule? Yeah, yeah it is. Is it really? Yeah, so I’ve actually changed my schedule quite a bit since really coming on board. When I first started with you guys, I was actually working three jobs at the time. Three jobs? I believe you were working in the medical field. I was, yes. Were you? I was working at a dental office in Tulsa. I also worked for a church and then I also worked for our business. And so our business unfortunately started to become on the back burner and that’s when I recognized just seeing all of the things that we were implementing that I was more needed in our family business. And so that’s really where I’m at. Do you remember the day that you retired from your other job? So from the church I only worked with them temporarily. It was very short term, and that was back in the end of January. And then as far as the dental office, I worked with them up until the middle of May. So you you told me and I remember this and maybe I’m misquoting, so correct me if I’m wrong. You actually really enjoyed that job. The dental office? Like you’re right. Didn’t you enjoy it? I mean, it was something you wanted to you like doing that. Oh, yeah. No, I absolutely one thousand percent loved that job, loved the people I worked with. It was really hard to step away from that emotionally, but I understood where my priorities lie. And just seeing the growth that our business was going through, it helped me even more. What’s it like having your wife back? It’s kind of like dating your wife all the time now, right? Was that exciting? It’s been an interesting road. You know, some days it’s harder than others, but I think, you know, on a whole it’s been good. And it’s been important to me, too, to see her be a part of it, too, because I ran the business. We’ve been, either this year or next year, it depends who you ask, we’ve been open for 20 years. Wow. And so it’s family business, my parents started it and I took over in 2009. So I’ve been, obviously this has been a huge part of my life for a long time and you know, we’ve been together for just a few years now and so her coming in, she was like, okay, I want to be a part of this. You know, and that’s just really cool to me. And then as far as the 13 point assessment, a lot of times people are like, ah, 13 point assessment. I’m going to get roped into one of these multi-level programs that are going to keep me in some sort of retention cell. It’s going to be like one of those timeshare things and I’ll be stuck there for four hours. I mean, have you guys been on a timeshare tour? Oh my God. Have you been? Yeah. Twice. Really? My wife thought it would be cool to get a free lunch on our honeymoon. Hey, hey, listen, listen. You listen here. We got a free stay somewhere. Listen to this. I want your wife to know this. Because I’m going to one-up your wife. It doesn’t matter what your wife has done. She will leave here looking like an all-star. That’s what I’ve done. We went to Vegas and I grew up with no money and I’ve always thought like you know if you spend less money, you maybe can keep more money. That’s just a theory I’ve had. If you spend less, you keep more. And so we just got married and you guys were how long have you guys been married when you did your timeshare tour? Well, it was on our honeymoon. So, okay. Yeah, our honeymoon was our first date. Yeah, and let me tell you, and you come at it from a sense of purity because your wife, someone says, hey, would you like a free, was it a free trip or what did they offer you? A free hotel, was it a free meal? Free, what was it? It was a free stay at another hotel, which we did use. But I’m just saying, I wanna make sure we get this. It starts off, hey, listen here, buddy, I’m gonna educate you on how you get sucked into a timeshare. So I’m going down to Vegas and they said, hey, you know, sir, would you like to go to a free show? You know, I’m walking around. My wife’s getting ready to get up early. Would you like to take your wife to a free show or do it? Is this on the ring? You know, I’m going, well, yes, I would. And they go, well, we’ve got me listed off. It’s like boys to men and concert or, yeah, it’s Britney Spears or it’s all the all the predictable people. And I’m going, I would like to take my wife to a show. And would you like to do a great deal dinner? There’s a cuisine. There’s this. And all you have to do is take a one hour tour. That was the pitch. Was that for you, one hour pitch? Yeah. And I’m going, dude, we just got married. One hour pitch, you promise me? I said, I’m telling you, going into it, I’m not gonna buy anything. And he goes, oh yeah, for sure. So then they show up on some shuttle bus and they take us out to like Tantawene or someplace where Yoda lives. You know, we’re on the island of Endor or somewhere where Yoda lives. We’re going Dagobah, Dagobah. We end up in this resort, but it’s kind of off the path. Is that what they did to you? Yeah, they definitely corner you. And then they’re there, and they start saying to my wife, they go, sir, well, they said, ma’am, do you like this trip? And it’s like, nice, everything’s nice. And she’s like, oh, I do. Well, for as little as, you know, it’s like $400 a month, what if you could come here whenever you want? And that seems like a, you know, that would be great. And they go, well, let’s just see what you qualify for. Next thing you know, they got paperwork out for us to sign. Did that happen to you? And then I’m like a naturally aggressive dude. So that’s very good or bad, depending upon how you situation. You know, so I’m like, Hey, I definitely don’t want to sign up. I appreciate you. As I mentioned, I’m just here for free stuff. And he goes like, so you mean you took my whole day with no intention of actually buying anything. So you wasted my time. I thought you were you know, I thought you know, right So you’ve spent my whole mean if you weren’t gonna do is gonna come in for free stuff I mean, why don’t you just say something cuz I wouldn’t have spent my time. He’s trying to make me feel bad Yeah, I’m like they do that to you. Oh, yeah. Yeah. There’s like three or four moves. They do and I go well Hey, I don’t know that you think I don’t remember telling him I’d know that you think that I care but I don’t care Yeah, so furthermore I I’ll probably come back tomorrow for another free thing, because I’m never going to buy that, because that’s what you offered. And this guy starts getting into the whole, like, well, let me talk to your wife. And he cornered my wife. Did they do that to you? Oh, yeah, they did that to us. And they preyed on the emotion thing. And my wife starts to do the, like, because she cares, my wife’s a nice person. And somehow he convinced her that, like, he wouldn’t be able to feed his family, and that we were wasting his time. Oh, man, it was dirty. But my wife almost said yes just to get out of it. I tried getting up a few times. That was difficult. She went to the bathroom during it and they got me by myself and was like, hey, if it’s your wife, you can just go and sign everything right now. Dude, listen to this. This is where it gets crazy. Oh my God. So after we had a horrible experience, my wife leaves in tears. Oh gosh. You know what I did? I signed up again. Because I was like, I’m gonna go, and this time I’m gonna win, and my wife’s not gonna cry, and my wife’s like, so next day, she’s like, what are you doing today? And I’m like, I’m doing the timeshare again, you can stay here, I’m gonna dominate that timeshare guy. And she’s like, you gotta be kidding me. No, so that’s what I did. So anyway, that, so no matter what your wife did by signing up for a timeshare, I just want you to know, it comes from a pure place, she was trying to do the right thing, I was just trying to get even at that point. Anyway, you guys are absolutely great. I encourage everybody out there, if you want to put a wrap on your wall in your building, maybe you’re looking to auto wrap your business, your vehicle, your truck, go to highwaymansigns.com. You can see all the services that they provide. It’s Highwaymansigns.com. Auto wraps. They do LED displays. How big? As big as you want. Let’s talk about it. Most of our customers do smaller ones. They’ll do 2x8s, 4x4s, 4x8s. What does that cost right there? What’s a 4×4 cost roughly? Double sided is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of around $18,000. $18,000? Whoa! Shaka-baba! And you guys do lighted signs, you do non-lighted signs. You’re good people. You love the Lord. You check all the boxes. I’m excited for you. Now again, and then for anybody out there, just to get this on the record, you were up 261% of profit? Yes. Well, amen. Congratulations to you guys. I’m excited for you guys. Oh, it’s a date night. Yeah. So we might as well. OK, well, avoid the timeshares. This time of year, they tend to be high pressure. So thank you guys so much for joining us. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had a lot of success early, I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had a lot of success of late, I don’t know what the thing is, but I just don’t want to work with people that won’t implement the proven system. I want to work with people that are sufficiently motivated, just like that last couple you just saw. I mean, these are great Americans, they’re hardworking people, and they reached out and they said, can you show us what to do? And I said, sure, and I showed them what to do, and they diligently implemented the systems. And that’s why Kenny and Danielle are having epic success. Hello, I’m Michael Levine, and I’m talking to you right now from the center of Hollywood, California, where I have represented over the last 35 years 58 Academy Award winners, 34 Grammy Award winners, 43 New York Times bestsellers. I’ve represented a lot of major stars and I’ve worked with a lot of major companies and I think I’ve learned a few things about what makes them work and what makes them not work. Now, why would a man living in Hollywood, California in the beautiful sunny weather of LA come to Tulsa? Because last year I did it and it was damn exciting. Clay Clark has put together an exceptional presentation. Really life changing and I’m looking forward to seeing you then. I’m Michael Levine. I’ll see you in Tulsa. Thrivetime Show two day interactive business workshops are the world’s highest rated and most reviewed business workshops because we teach you what you need to know to grow. You can learn the proven 13 point business system that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to fix your conversion rate. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two day, 15 hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems, so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re gonna leave energized, motivated, but you’re also gonna leave empowered. The reason why I built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur, I always wish that I had this. And because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter bunny, but inside of it, it was a hollow nothingness. And I wanted the knowledge, and they’re like, oh, but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop, we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get-rich-quick, walk-on-hot-coals product. It’s literally we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. I encourage you to not believe what I’m saying, but I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say, are they successful because they’re geniuses or are they successful because they have a proven system? When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s gonna be the best business workshop ever and we’re gonna give you your money back if you don’t love it. We built this facility for you and we’re excited to see it. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person two-day interactive Thrive Time Show business workshop? Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money so if you’re out there today if you want to attend our in-person today interactive business workshop all you gotta do is go to thrive timeshow dot com request those tickets and if you can afford to earn fifty dollars we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable i learned at the academy kinks point new york octagon verba watch what a person does not what they say. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Harvard Kiyosaki, The Rich Dad Radio Show. Today I’m broadcasting from Phoenix, Arizona, not Scottsdale, Arizona. They’re close, but they’re completely different worlds. And I have a special guest today. Definition of intelligence is if you agree with me, you’re intelligent. And so this gentleman is very intelligent. I’ve done his show before also, but very seldom do you find somebody who lines up on all counts. And so Mr. Clay Clark is a friend of a good friend, Eric Trump. But we’re also talking about money, bricks, and how screwed up the world can get in a few and a half hours. So Clay Clark is a very intelligent man, and there’s so many ways we could take this thing But I thought since you and Eric are close Trump What were you saying about what Trump can’t what Donald who’s my age and I can say or cannot say what? First of all I have to honor you sir. I want to show you what I did to one of your books here There’s a name of Jeremy Thorne who was my boss at the time. I was 19 years old, working at Faith Highway. I had a job at Applebee’s, Target, and DirecTV, and he said, have you read this book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad? And I said, no. And my father, may he rest in peace, he didn’t know these financial principles. So I started reading all of your books and really devouring your books, and I went from being an employee to self-employed to the business owner to the investor, and I owe a lot of that to you. And I just wanted to take a moment to tell you, thank you so much for allowing me to achieve success. I’ll tell you all about Eric Trump. I just want to tell you thank you, sir, for changing my life. Not only that, Clay, thank you, but you’ve become an influencer. More than anything else, you’ve evolved into an influencer where your word has more and more power. That’s why I congratulate you on becoming. As you know, there’s a lot of fake influencers out there, or bad influencers. Yeah. Anyway, I’m glad you and I agree so much and thanks for reading my books. Yeah. That’s the greatest thrill for me today. Not thrill, but recognition is when people, young men especially, come up and say, I read your book, changed my life, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, I’m doing this. I learned at the Academy, Kings Point in New York, I learned at the Academy, Kings Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say.
