Yes, yes, yes and yes! Thrivetime Nation on today’s show we are interviewing the standup comedian and XM Radio talk show host, Jennifer Fulwiler! Jennifer, welcome onto The Thrivetime Show…how are you ma’am?!
I know that you are seriously building some momentum with your career…but I would like to ask you about what your life was like growing up?
Jen, take me back to your high school prom or high school dances, what is your favorite old school jam or hit song?
Jen, I have heard you say that you listen to hip hop music while driving your kids around. What are a few of your favorite artists or songs?
Jennifer, typically there aren’t many comedians who drive minivans and who have six kids…when did you decide that you wanted to pursue standup comedy and why?
It was out of the blue. I have always loved humor. I thought I should try to stand up and the next night, I went to an open night.
I bombed the first night and every night for months.
I have made a spreadsheet with all of my jokes on it. I recorded every set and especially when I bombed, I would watch the film.
I realized that you can’t do it completely on your own. You have to have other people to bounce things off of.
I understand that you self-produced a comedy tour…I would love to hear about how you made this happen?
When did you first feel like you were truly beginning to gain traction with your career?
I didn’t know until I sold out my tour. My fans had never seen any of my stand up but they bought tickets.
I used my personal credit card and hoped my fans showed up. They bought tickets and I saw that this may have traction.
What is your religion?
I was raised atheist but have been converted into catholicism.
How did you go about becoming a XM radio talk show host?
I wouldn’t have written this book if I didn’t have to. This forced me to write something that brought value to people.
This is not a humor first book. This is a funny book that is meant to change your life.
Why should we buy the book?
It is going to encourage you to share your blue flame so you can have a full life and help others have a full life.
Jen, in your book you share about what you’ve learned about following your passions…I would love to hear just one example from the book about what you’ve learned from following your passion?
Jen, you and I both share the belief that people should build a life they love…how have you been able to continue pursuing your passion while also incorporating your love for your family?
How often do you bring your kids to your shows and what kind of feedback do they give you?
Jen, I heard that your dad passed away very unexpectedly and that he helped out a TON with your kids…how did losing your dad impact you?
Jen, how has comedy impacted your family?
Jen, what is your process like for writing your comedy?
How would you describe your approach to comedy?
Who are your comedic inspirations if you have any?
