Get ready to enter the Thrivetime Show! Get ready to enter the Thrive Time Show! And the good look has a father of five. That’s what I’m about. So if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi. It’s C and Z up on your radio. And now three, two, one, here we go. We started from the bottom, now we’re good. We started from the bottom, now we’re good. All right, ladies and gentlemen, have you ever thought about wanting to have a vacation home or a yacht or a nice car or time freedom or financial freedom? Or maybe you haven’t, but if you’re out there today and you want to escape the wage cage, and maybe you own your own wage cage, maybe you have a business that just doesn’t make profit. On today’s show, we’re really going to get into this idea of life design, and I’m going to give everybody some homework there. So I want everybody to get a sheet of paper, maybe an Etch-A-Sketch, maybe a pen and paper, perhaps maybe a ketchup packet, and you just sort of just squirt it everywhere. And so how to write you, maybe a chisel, write this down. What are your goals for your faith, your family, your finances, your fitness, your friendship, and your fun? Let’s go to the F7, your faith, your family, your finances, your fitness, your friendship, and your fun. Now this just in, if you don’t set goals for any of those areas, and none of us are perfect, then you’re gonna drift. So if you don’t have goals for your family, it’s gonna drift. You don’t have goals for your faith, it’s gonna drift. You have goals for your fitness, it’s gonna drift. So as an example, tonight, it’s December 4th and I’m recording this. I’m not sure when you’re gonna hear this. At 6 p.m. I’m gonna leave this office and I’m gonna go pick up my daughter and I’m gonna take my daughter on a dad-daughter date. Why? Because I have four daughters and that’s what I do on Mondays. I take my daughter on a dad-daughter date. Why? Because it’s in my schedule. And what gets scheduled gets done. And what doesn’t get scheduled does not get done. So we’re here, we’re joined today with an entrepreneur today, who in my opinion, and I don’t know the whole story, but he’s had a lot of success in the world of business, and he’s achieved a lot of his goals. Is he perfect? No. Is he saying he’s perfect? No. But this is a guy who’s achieved a lot of goals, and he’s taken that bucket list, and he’s knocked out a lot of those items one day at a time, because this is a man who has a plan. And without any further ado, Peter Taunton, welcome onto the Thrive Time Show. How are you, sir? I’m good. How are you doing, Clay? I’m fired up to tap into your wisdom about this today. And before we do, I know that you don’t like to hop on our show and talk about your bio, but for the people that don’t know your bio, just briefly give us kind of a 60 second look into the brains that you’ve built, and then I will begin interrogating you, sir. Yeah, look, so I’ve had some amazing success in my life, to your point earlier, but I think it’s important to know where I came from. I came from nothing. I came from a very small town, went to school in a two-room schoolhouse, and had an opportunity, got my first break when I was 22 years old to turn around a failing business. And that was my window of opportunity. I didn’t know it at the time. I didn’t know that that was going to be my springboard into launching some global brands and getting me to where I am today. And to what you said earlier in your introduction, you bring up some very valid points, Clay, about balance. And all of those things are balanced in one’s life. Look, I’ve had balance. I’ve balanced in my success. I have balance with my family, my faith, my friends, and then time for myself. But look, you know what? We can dig in as deep as you want to go, but in life, it’s hard work, it’s sacrifice, it’s commitment, it’s all those things. And I’ve done all of those things in my 35, 40 years of business, and it never stops. You adjust things along the way, but the grind never stops. And I say the grind in an endearing way, because I kinda like the grind. And I think those of us who get up every day with purpose and with a schedule to your point. I love your quote. I’m going to use it. I’ll steal it from you. If I don’t schedule it, I don’t do it. Hey, look, I’m all about to-do lists and prioritization and things that matter. Taking your daughters out every Monday, that matters. That’s why you get it done. Now, I’m going to pull this up, and I want everyone to really look at this and merit it on this, and then judge me. Look at my schedule and say, oh, you’re not balanced, you’re not doing it right. It’s okay, I’m just putting my schedule up here for you. So here we go, this is my schedule. So this morning I woke up, my alarm went off at 3.15, got up, I like to go to bed at nine, wake up at three, I love to sleep six hours. Somebody else says you need more, you need less, whatever. So then worked out at four, then from four, guess what I did, took a shower, headed over to the office, got here. My first client was at 6 a.m. Now folks, I live a commute that takes me, this is pretty wild, it takes me about 90 seconds to get to the office from my house. So it’s about a 90 second commute. So I’m over here at the office about 5.05, 5.10, 7 o’clock I was working with my, what I call coaches or you might call them consultants, people on my payroll making sure that they’re following the systems. I always do that meeting 7 a.m. Then at 8 a.m. I had an elephant in the room manager meeting for our staff. We have a haircut chain. 9 a.m. we basically met with all of our team members. It’s an all-staff meeting. There’s close to 100 staff members that are at that at 10 o’clock. I met with one of my longtime clients there called Highwayman Signs. Wonderful people. They just broke the million-dollar mark for the first time here. Very excited for their business there. Then I met with Papa Gallo’s. This is a pizzeria. They’ve been able to increase the business by eightfold. Then I met with Jennifer Johnson there and her husband Jared with their company called Platinum Pest. Had a great meeting there. And then over here at 12 o’clock, I just did an interview. One o’clock to my left, Aaron Antus, who’s one of Oklahoma’s largest home builders. He’s meeting with our web team. I meet with Tom Renz, an attorney, and then Josh Spurl, a Canadian accountant client. And then here we are at 2. You look at my day and you go, okay, okay. And it’s just funny, it’s in here twice, but it says, Clay takes Leah on dad-daughter date and nothing can stop what’s coming. It’s just sort of my joke because it’s not gonna be stopped. It’s going to happen. And the workplace, Peter, there’s always gonna be one more burning fire, but nothing can stop us going on the dad-daughter date. I really wanna get your thoughts on that. When somebody buys a business from you, specifically they reach out and they buy a Nautical Bowls franchise from you, you’re focused on time freedom and financial freedom. I know that’s the focus that you have on the franchisees. Could you maybe explain how it is that if somebody buys the franchise from you, you’re focused on time freedom and financial freedom? How is that possible? Oh look, I mean the financial freedom to me is when you’re reaping the rewards of your hard work. So before I get into anyone buying a franchise, I try to prepare them for battle, if you will, and not that work or getting into business is always a battle, but I think if you set everyone up for the expectation that it takes grit, it takes commitment and all these wonderful things, accolades that come with it. Look, I think when you prepare them to go to battle, you’ve got them in the right headspace. So from my space, from my position, I talk to them about what it means to own a business, the responsibility and accountability that comes with it, they’re in the right headspace. And then I teach them the secret sauce. What does it take to get into this business? Aside from just the financial commitment, what does it take for you to run this business successfully? All the things that you talk about, Clay, your dream 100 and all these things. Owning a business, the one thing that you’ve got to understand is if you’re not the one in there doing the business, if you’re not the one driving the business, then there’s a high probability that the business is not going to thrive and succeed. Now, financial freedom, schedule freedom, that comes when your business is doing well and you’re able to step away and take time away and spend more time with your family or upgrade your homes or upgrade your vacations, do all those things. But that’s the fruits of hard work. That’s the fruits of success. And none of it comes easy. Now what I find is that, again, what gets scheduled, what gets done. So whatever gets scheduled, gets done. What gets scheduled, gets done. And what I find, what doesn’t get scheduled, does not get done. So I’m going to show people my schedule for the week and someone can judge me, okay? Thursday and Friday, it’s like, wow, there’s nothing in that schedule. Well, I’ve got a couple of things I need to do that day, but there’s very little on that schedule for Thursday and Friday. And the reason why is because I have a workshop, a business workshop, a two-day interactive business workshop. And I tell people being present is a present. And so people say, what? I’m saying being present is a present. So I can’t be at the workshop taking phone calls, hopping on coaching calls, trying to be two places at once. And I want to tell you a lot of people try to do that. They’ve bought into the lie of the multitasking thing. So from December 7th and 8th, I’m going to be there both days with a bunch of workshop attendees focused on growing their business. We have two tickets left. If anybody wants to get those tickets, you just go to thrivetimeshow.com. You have two final tickets. In the background of this picture, it might be kind of hard to see, but we’ve got a wonderful group of attendees that come to these events. You know, Peter, I capped the attendance at 200 people because I want everybody to feel like they can ask questions during each session and nobody gets left behind. You know, so if we’re doing a session on bookkeeping or accounting or online reputation or online ads, I don’t want anybody to feel like we forgot about them. And so we open it up for Q&A. But I think that’s one of the things that people compliment to me all the time, Peter, and I’m sure they do it to you too. People say, for the whole two days I was with you, like you were focused on me. And I say, well, because I put it in my schedule. I scheduled that. So I’d love to get your thoughts on being present, because I think a lot of people, they are trying to do a lot of things at one time, and their theory is, I’m not going to block out time for things. I’m just going to try to work on it as time becomes available, but then that time never comes available. Yeah, you know, I deal with a lot of clients, as I’m sure you do, that one of the first things we do is we evaluate how efficient and effective they are with their time. And I do it, for me, an exercise I do is I tell them all the things that are, what are the material items that you think are in your day that you’ve got to get done? And then we start paring those away because what I find is many of those things are not the big movers, are not the material things that are going to move the ball. So I clear some of those things away and focus on the big movers, the things that move the needle, that drive the success of the business, drive the relationships, drive the human capital, whatever’s possible. So look, it’s working smart. So for me, I step away, I look for balance. I wanna make sure that the time that I’m using, I’m using it effectively. You use scheduling. Coincidentally, so do I. You know what? Scheduling holds me accountable to a timeframe and it allows me to work more and more efficiently because I know I’ve got an hour to get this done so I can’t lollygag. The punchline here, Clay, if you’re trying to do three, four things at once, people say, oh, Peter, I’m a phenomenal multitasker. The reality of it is, most of those people that are doing three, four things at once, if they take a step back and they’re being honest with themselves, they’re really not doing any of them very well. So my recommendation to all those people out there that think that way is, look, let’s focus on one or two things. That’s a lot of time for it, so we can be in the game, so we can be, to your point, your guests that come to your workshops, they feel like they have your ear. And that’s a testament to you. Why? Because you make a point to be heard. You make a point to connect with people. I say it all the time. How do you wanna show up every day? And to your point, you’re showing up for your daughter tonight. Why? You scheduled it, okay? So how do you show up with your family, your employees, your friends? How do you show up for yourself? You know, equally as important on your schedule, you gotta have some me time. Where’s the clay time? Where you just got some time for you to decompress and do the things that you like to do. I don’t see golfing. I know you work out first thing in the morning, but I don’t see golfing or some of the things that really bring you joy where you can fully decompress. Because that’s important too. And I’m not arguing with you. I think one of the things that I find for people is everybody out there, we have different things that we like to do. So everyone has things you like to do. And everyone, you’ve got to figure out what that is you like to do. So for me specifically, working with clients and helping them grow is like basketball. I used to play basketball at the time, I love basketball. But it’s sort of like, I don’t know, it’s like adult basketball has become growing businesses. I enjoy that. You know, my wife and I, when we wrap up my day, you know, we enjoy, we’re kind of sick freaks, but we like to watch documentaries about what’s going on. That’s what we like to do, you know. And we’ve got sort of a life that we’ve designed, that I’m not saying it’s perfect, but we’re pretty intentional about the faith and the family and finances and these sorts of things. And so I just encourage everybody out there to do that, though, because if you’re not intentional about the scheduling time for your faith, your family, your finances, your fitness, your friendship, your fun. So one of my good friends, his name’s Pastor Steve Ciaccolani, and he’s coming to preach and teach in Tulsa this week. And it’s going to be Pastor Steve at this Wednesday at a church. And I want to go to that. Well, if I want to go see him speak, how am I going to go see him speak if I also have other things I’m supposed to be doing? So now I’ve got to pull up my calendar, Peter, and I’ve got to go, wait a minute, if I’m going to go see him speak at 630, then I can’t do this. Wait a minute, Kash Patel, I love Kash. I’m going to interview Kash at 630, so I can’t go to Kash. So what do I have to do? So what time does he speak? Well, praise and worship ends around 7.30, and the church service starts at 7.45, so I’ve got to start to ask myself, you know, can I move an interview? Can I go to the—these are the questions that don’t occur to you unless you have a schedule. Let me get your thoughts on this. If somebody owns a Nautical Bowls franchise, what time do they have to open their store every day, sir? Look, it varies. And that’s one of the beautiful things about our concept is the management typically shows up about 15, 20 minutes before the store operating hours. So most of our stores open at eight or nine in the morning. So they’re showing up 15 minutes prior to that. It’s a very simple, not technical business. And most of them are closing at eight or nine o’clock at night. In there, they’ve got one full-time employee, 10 to 15 part-timers. Some people work more hours and less hours. It all depends what they’re looking for, right? What some people, like yourself, Clay, you love doing what you do. And some people love the interaction with people and going to work doesn’t feel like work. And God bless those people. I feel the same way doing what I do. I love it. I call it a hobby. It’s a hobby that I really enjoy. I enjoy helping people find their way to the promised land of financial freedom. I love doing it. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping people accumulate wealth. And then not only that, help them take the training wheels off of life and really live a full life of balance and all the things that they’re looking for. And every one of us have the tools in the toolbox, but we just don’t use them. We don’t know what to pull out, what tool when, and that’s what life experience is all about, learning from others. Now, with the Nautical Bowls franchise, getting into the brass tacks of that vehicle in particular, if I were to go today and I would say, I want to go buy a, let’s say buy a Suburban, okay? And I’m going to say a Suburban 2024, Suburban. I look it up, I go onto the various websites that have Suburbans, they sell Suburbans, and I’m gonna look around here and someone’s gonna go, wow, there’s a more efficient way to find it, but let’s just say it’s $65,000. All right, so I’m gonna go then get an auto, it’s an auto loan calculator. So I’m gonna go get an auto loan calculator and I’m gonna say, I’m gonna go spend $65,000 on this automotive vehicle I got here and I’m going to do a 60 months deal. I’m doing 60 months and I’m going to just calculate. I look at it and I go, what’s my monthly payment going to be? What’s my total monthly payment going to be? That’s kind of how I would look at buying a franchise, as you’d say, what’s it going to cost you to buy that thing? And then unlike suburban, with a suburban, very few people want to pay you every month more than the suburban costs you to thank you for owning it. But if you could convince your friends to say, hey, friends, if you’ll pay me $100 each and you have 30 friends and they’re paying you $3,000 a month for you to drive a suburban because they like it so much, but they can’t drive it. You can convince your friends to do that. That’s an interesting way to live, if you can convince your friends to pay you to drive the Suburban, to drive that vehicle. Well, that’s kind of like a nautical bulls, how it works though. You buy a nautical bulls and your friends and your community, they gather around you to celebrate the business. They’re excited about it. They love the product. They love the experience. So, that’s how that works and you want to make sure you’re bringing in more money than that monthly payment. So, how much does it cost to buy a nautical bulls franchise there chief? The cash to get into the business it’s a hundred thousand. We have financing available. Got it. You have to come to the party with a hundred thousand cash. You come to a party with a hundred thousand cash, the bank will stand behind you. There’s some minor qualifications. You need to have a net worth of two hundred fifty thousand or more and that’s you and your partners. If you have a net worth of a hundred grand and your two partners each have a hundred thousand dollar net worth, you qualify. You come to the party with $100,000 cash, the bank will finance $150,000 to $250,000 for you, which is more than enough to get your store open, you’re off to the races. So we make it easy for you to get into the business. And don’t take that the wrong way. I know that $100,000 is a lot of money, but it is not a lot of money when you think about it in the context of owning a business like this. This is a simple business. It’s a very relevant business. It’s the hottest category within the restaurant space. Healthy fast casual. Acai Bowl concepts is the number one concept within the space. And no one out there is growing faster than we are. And again, I’m just taking notes here. You have to have $100,000 of cash to buy a Nautical Bowls franchise. You have to have a net worth of $250,000 to buy a Nautical Bowls franchise. And then once someone fills out the form, your team’s going to call them and see if they’re a good fit and guide them down the path. Shifting gears, back to goals. When did you buy your first boat? My first boat? Well, I was in my 40s. I was in my 40s. So it was at a time in my life when I could finally afford one, to be honest with you. So you got the boat. And with the boat, I’m not asking for the details of the boat necessarily, but I’m saying, is it a boat that you bring people on? Do you boat by yourself? Is it a lake boat, ocean boat? What kind of boat? That first boat I had was a lake boat. It was a lake boat and yeah, you could put 10, 15 people on it. It was a very nice boat in my world at that time. I was proud to own it. It’s just like when you buy your first car. When you buy your first car, you’re proud of yourself, of the accomplishment, because it’s one of those bucket list things. And it’s always so rewarding when you get a chance to check a box in the bucket list. And that was one for me at that time. Now, did you name the boat, anything specific? Did you have a name in place? No, no, okay. This boat. And did you park the boat at your own property? Did you have like a lake house where you parked the boat? I did. Okay. And how often do you boat now? Like you’re looking back because you’re now, I mean, you’ve done a lot. So you’re, you know, you’ve obviously sowed the seeds. How often do you like to go boating now? I probably take, well, now it’s, you know, I play at a different level than I did back then. So now I take my boat out once a week and I’ll take anywhere from, you know, 15 to 25 people out on it. I was just out this past weekend. I take it out just about every Saturday. So now you’re boating off in Florida. Do you go pretty deep into the water, or do you kind of keep it kind of close to shore? How far do you go out? Well, look, I’ve got a captain and a crew. So, I mean, we go as far out as we want to. You have a captain and a crew. OK, so you go out there. So now, would it be classified as a yacht now, or do you still call it a boat? No, it’s a yacht. I still call it a boat. Do you ever spend the night in the yacht? I do. Yeah. Sometimes. I’ll get a little ocean reef a couple of weeks ago, stay for the weekend. Do you get nauseous out there? I don’t because you know what nowadays I would because I don’t like all that motion moving around but this is a pretty good size boat and then also they have stabilizers on them now. So they understand the boating business. They understand that there’s people like me that don’t like to bounce around. So as an upgrade on nice yachts, you can buy these stabilizers that keep the boat steady. And what reef did you go to? Called Ocean Reef. I’m going to pull it up here, Ocean Reef. And so you went to Ocean Reef. And are you scuba diving? And for people that haven’t been to Ocean Reef, this is in Florida, correct? And you know what, it’s a resort type area with hotel accommodations and golf courses and you know, a self-contained island. It’s beautiful. So you pull into Ocean Reef and walk us through the idea of voting on Ocean Reef. Do you have to call ahead? Do you just show up? I mean, people, what’s the protocol here? Yeah, you know what, for us, you call because we had a slip waiting for us. So you schedule that. It takes about an hour and a half from Miami to get down there by boat. Then you just pull in, you tie into your slip, and then you’re off to the races. They have all kinds of beautiful restaurants there, golf courses, swimming pools. It’s a very, very relaxing place and a fun place to hang out. I went down there with my fiance and her three kids. It was great. What time did you leave to get to there? What time do you get on? What time are you leaving to get on the boat? What time are you? We left Friday morning at about nine in the morning, rolled in about 1030, and then we left Sunday around lunchtime. After lunch, we hopped on, cruised back to Miami. It’s great. So this is, this is, this is the right place? Is this the right place? Am I looking at it here? You got it. Okay. So you pull in and you, you park in like a harbor. Are there other boats or are you like the only boat that’s there? No, no. There’s lots of boats that are there. It’s a great setup. It’s a great way to get away from Miami, something different. That was my first time there. They sell memberships as well if you want to do that. It’s kind of a membership-based resort area. Did you stay in a hotel or did you stay on the boat? I stayed, but we stayed on the boat. Are you wearing flip-flops the whole time? Are you wearing flip-flops the whole time? Yeah, it’s pretty chill. You’d like it, Clay. You’d like it. Okay, now did you go golf? Did you golf? I would have. I brought my clubs with, but it rained. So, you know, I didn’t want to. The day that I was going to golf, it rained, and then I didn’t want to golf the next day because we didn’t get a chance to do everything we wanted to do. You know, golf is a half a day experience, so I foregone the golf on that trip. And you’re not steering your own boat? I mean, there’s somebody else driving the boat? Yeah, yeah. It’s a larger boat. It’s a larger boat and it’s, you know, I’d rather have a captain driving it so I can, you know, just relax. Do you ever, do you get to yell out any commands? I mean, what kind of a, what’s the relationship like? Are you going, guys, we’re going to go to the right here? No. No? No. These guys are very skilled. You know, if I’m chirping anything, it’s maybe, maybe I’m chirping to one of the stews to bring, you know, bring me a margarita or something. It’s pretty easy. Do you feel like you’re the cabin director, you’re the cruise director? What’s your title on the boat? You have a captain and a crew. What’s your title on the boat? Well, you know what? Given that I sign everyone’s check, I get a fair amount of respect when I’m on the boat. I do realize that. Have you named this boat or is this a name-free boat? I did. This boat is called San Pedro, St. Peter. Okay, San Pedro. Are you Catholic? I’m not, but I grew up Methodist. Okay, St. Peter. Okay, okay. So, again, folks, the reason why I’m drilling down into this is because, you know, we talk about business and getting serious about business and blocking out time and all that, but we also got to focus on having a blasty blast and enjoying our lives. And so, for people out there that don’t know, you know, our business workshop that we do this weekend, we have an insane Christmas party by most people’s standards. I mean, we’ve got mariachis greeting people at six in the morning. We’ve got a pig roast thing going on. We’ve got helicopter rides and all this stuff. And people show up for a business workshop and they’re like, this was awesome. This was fun. I had a great time. Well, you don’t, business doesn’t have to be boring and fun doesn’t have to be mindless and things that get you in trouble. You can actually have fun while running a business or vice. You know, it’s possible. And I would tell you this, folks, if you’re going to have a business that’s fun to own, a business that’s exciting to own a business that’s on trend, a business that actually helps your clients become healthier. As opposed to a business that helps your clients to not feel healthy. I mean, I encourage you to check out nauticalbowls.com. nauticalbowls.com. Peter, I’m going to give you the final word here. You can talk about boating, you can talk about nautical bowls, whatever you want. You have the final word there, sir. I just say, look, getting into a business, getting into nautical bowls or whatever business you’re thinking about, I mean, make sure that it brings you joy. Not all businesses need to be a grind. I particularly like nautical bowls because of the simplicity of it. Not a lot of moving parts. We’ve taken all the guesswork out of it for you. We have financing available for you. A handful of employees, one full-time, 10 to 15 part-timers. I think the simpler the business, you know, I always say getting into business, number one, is the product relevant? We can check that box. Number two, is it affordable? We can check that box. In addition to that, we have financing available. Do I think that the product has legs? Do I think that a product that’s plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, organic, or all-natural ingredients, do I think that that mindset, do I always think people are going to gravitate to those healthy eating habits? I personally, I do. I don’t think that’s ever going to go out of vogue. People like to be active, they like to eat right, make good choices, and they like to thrive. So I think that this product has the ingredients to make that happen for you. But you know, every business, it is some work, you know, you got to lean into it. You got to set it up, you got to work hard, get it moving, get good people around you, and then you can start enjoying the fruits of your labor. Folks, simplicity scales, complexity fails. Remember that, folks. Simplicity scales, complexity fails. And if you’re out there today and you’re looking for a business that’s going to do so well that potentially you can become a boating companion of Peter Taunton. I encourage you go to nauticalbowls.com. It’s nauticalbowls.com. Peter Taunton, I really do appreciate you, sir. We’ll talk to you next week. You’re the best. Take care, Clay. Take care, boss. Bye. Well, Thrive Nation, we here at the Thrive Time Show, what we do is we help businesses grow their business owners to grow their businesses. The purpose is to create time freedom and financial freedom. And we’ve had a long time client that we’ve worked with, and this is sort of like our exit interview because he’s actually exited the business. And so he’s at the other end of the rainbow or he got to the top of the mountain or he hit his big goal. And I’m honored to call him a friend and a long time client. Tim Whaley, welcome on to the Thrive Time Show. How are you, sir? I’m doing outstanding, Clay. Thank you for having me on. Can you tell everybody, how did you first hear about what we do in terms of business coaching? I first heard of you through your podcast, actually. So I started listening, was very intrigued. Actually, you had built and sold businesses in the industry that I was in. So it seemed like a natural fit to inquire about coaching. Yeah. And once we connected and you did your, I’m not sure if it was an onboarding interview or it was more of a you were going to determine whether or not we were a good fit. I think that was it. But once we did that, I was hooked and was really hoping that you would take me on as a client, which you did. Now before I met you, I mean, you’d been in business for a long time and one would say you’re probably the dominant resource or one of the top providers in your industry before we even met. Could you tell the listeners how implementing the Dream 100 system impacted your business growth? Oh my gosh. So within just a few short years, it doubled our revenue, plain and simple. So Dream 100 was by far the secret sauce for our success and really the reason why I was able to exit my business ahead of schedule. So just a brilliant program, makes total sense. As a company, it’s one of the few marketing slash advertising outlets that you have total control over. It’s not like you’re on Facebook, which owns Facebook or Google, which owns Google, but I mean, you own the system you make it work and great things happen. Now with the Dream 100 you have to identify the vendors that you want to refer you or the prospects that you want to refer. You have to identify the ideal and likely buyers that you want to refer you and then you have to reach out to them consistently. And you guys have done a phenomenal job at doing that. What were a couple of things. One, you just really have to find the right fit. You have to find the right employee or employees. Because really, when you’re going out there, you need somebody who’s obviously great at building relationships. And that’s a lot of different people. But what I found is you also just need a hunter killer. So it’s not necessarily somebody who’s very personable and great with people, but somebody with those qualities but also just has a, like I said, a hunter-killer, just wants to, has a drive to bring business in. And you find that person and they just make it happen. And we were fortunate enough to find a couple great employees who were just very good at that. And now that you have sold the business you’re gonna stay on as an advisor to make sure that the brand is successful and that sort of thing. What does it feel like to be on the other side of the rainbow or to be at the top of the mountain or to be on the other side of selling a business that you started so many years ago? Well Clay it’s only been six weeks so obviously mixed feelings there but if I had to put it into one word, I would have to say freedom. Okay. Yeah. So it feels pretty darn good. And my wife and I are very excited. And obviously we’re still, you know, we’re still helping the new ownership transition and whatnot. So there’s stuff we’re doing and stuff to be done. But overall it’s, you know, when you’ve been hitting it hard for 33 years, and then all of a sudden you don’t have to, it feels pretty darn good, not gonna lie. Now, Robert Kiyosaki, you know, the best-selling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, I recently interviewed him and he had me on his show and it’s been kind of fun to connect with this guy who wrote the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series, and it’s just fun to connect with him. And he’s been talking borderline obsessively on his show recently about it’s not what people say, it’s what they do. You need to watch what people do, not what they say. I think a big thing about having a business coach or a personal trainer if you’re into fitness is if you’re into fitness, you need to have a nutritional plan, you need to have a workout plan, and then you need someone to hold you accountable. If you’re a business owner, you need to have a business plan, you need to have weekly actions that you need to implement, and then you need to have some accountability. How has having a business consultant or a coach to guide you down the path, how has that impacted you? Tremendously. So there’s a running joke between my wife and I. I will often say I’m the most consistently inconsistent person you wanna meet. So historically I’ve been the guy who starts this, goes for a little while, and then you know, sees a, you know, I’m like a squirrel, right? I see the next great thing and I’ll go after that for a while and so I’m an artist, right? I’m a photographer first and you know, business guy second I guess. So you have helped corral my artist brain. And having the weekly accountability calls and the action plan has definitely helped me stay focused on what needs to be focused on. So yeah, it’s been life changing. Nothing short of life changing. Now I wanna pull up something real quick and get your thoughts on this because you and I have worked together, I think for about, what, three years? Or is it, how long did we work together there before you exited the business, do you know? We started in 2019. So 2019, okay, so we’ve worked together for quite a while there. And so 2019, wow, so that’s almost five years, four and a half years or so. But if we do a search for carpet cleaning quotes, I’ve worked with one particular brand for 14 years, I think almost 15 now, and they have 271,000 Google reviews. So for 14 consecutive years, I’ve been talking to the same ownership about, you have to gather objective Google reviews from your ideal and likely buyers. You have to get reviews. You know, after you clean the carpet, you have to gather video reviews and Google reviews. And we talk about it every week, and it’s just like, it’s like bamboo. I keep coming back every week. I just, you can’t kill it. I come back every week talking about the reviews and in a world now where people go online to look stuff up, this has been a powerful tool for oxyfresh.com. It’s grown from a handful of locations now to 500 plus locations. How has gathering objective Google reviews and video reviews impacted your sales process? Well, I feel like it’s a one-two punch clay. So dream 100 and the reviews work hand in hand So the majority of our business comes from the dream 100 But you know, that’s one referral source. So our couples Will be referred by you know venues, but they want to check us out So they’re going to go online and look for our reviews. So, you know, not only do you have to have a ton of reviews, but you have to have a ton of five-star reviews. And so, the referrals plus the social proof on Google brings them in. Final questions I have for you, then I’ll be done harassing you here, is, you know, you now have got all the systems, the scripts, the website, the ads that work, the Dream 100 system going. And so to give people some clarity, you now have a turnkey marketing system in place. I mean, you have a Dream 100 system that works, you now have an online advertising program that works, you now have a sales process that works. It’s all documented, it’s all systemized for the new owner. So what would you say for anybody out there that is maybe thinking about coming to one of our in-person workshops or scheduling a free 13-point assessment with myself or a member of our team. What would you say to somebody who’s kind of on the fence about maybe coming to a workshop or scheduling a free 13 point assessment? Get off this fence. Just get off the fence. Bottom line, you know, you’ve helped make my company sellable, right? So those systems is exactly what made our company attractive to the buyer. They were looking for a company that was highly successful that they could then take and scale. And our business qualified because of what we’ve done over the last five years. And so yeah, I would never, I would not hesitate. I’ve told anybody who’s ever, you know, asked me about my coaching relationship with you and your organization, I said, I wouldn’t hesitate. Never in a million years. You have literally changed my life as a result of what you’ve taught me. You know, you’ve got to come to Tulsa one of these days here. So I know you guys are gonna enjoy your retirement or whatever it is you’re doing. But at some point, if you ever get the bug and you ever start a new thing or you ever in the Tulsa area, I really want to see you guys. You have my cell phone number, we can talk whenever. But I just want to tell you, it’s been an honor working with you, and it’s been so exciting to help you hit your goals. And I know you’ve worked 30 plus years to go on this dream vacation lifestyle that you’ve built. What would you say to anybody out there that has a business, and they feel, my final question for you, they feel overwhelmed by all the systems they have to build, and they’re not at the top of the mountain. They haven’t sold the business yet. It isn’t systemized, and all they see is perpetual chaos, what would you say to that person? Just take the next step, right? Every journey begins with the next step, and that next step should definitely be contacting you guys. If they just do that, the rest will take care of itself. You make sure of that, so. Tim, it’s an honor serving you again. I appreciate you very much, and don’t be a stranger there, sir. You got it. Thank you. Take care, Chief. Bye. Bye. The Thrive Time Show two-day interactive business workshops are the world’s highest rated and most reviewed business workshops because we teach you what you need to know to grow. You can learn the proven 13-point business systems that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to fix your conversion rate. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two-day, 15-hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems, so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re going to leave energized, motivated, but you’re also going to leave empowered. The reason why I built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur, I always wish that I had this. And because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter bunny, but inside of it, it was a hollow nothingness. And I wanted the knowledge, and they’re like, oh, but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop, we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get rich quick, walk on hot coals product. It’s literally, we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. I encourage you to not believe what I’m saying, but I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say, are they successful because they’re geniuses? Or are they successful because they have a proven system? When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s going to be the best business workshop ever. We wouldn’t give you your money back if you don’t love it. We’ve built this facility for you, and we’re excited to see it. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person, two-day interactive Thrive Time Show business workshop? Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money, so if you’re out there today and you want to attend our in-person, two-day interactive business workshop, all you got to do is go to thrivetimeshow.com to request those tickets. And if you can’t afford $250, we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable for you. The number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411% over last year. We are Jared and Jennifer Johnson. We own Platinum Pest and Lawn and are located in Owasso, Oklahoma. And we have been working with Thrive for business coaching for almost a year now. Yeah. So what we want to do is we want to share some wins with you guys that we’ve had by working with Thrive. First of all, we’re on the top page of Google now, okay? I just want to let you know what type of accomplishment this is. Our competition, Orkin, Terminex, they’re both $1.3 billion companies. They both have 2,000 to 3,000 pages of content attached to their website. So to basically go from virtually nonexistent on Google to up on the top page is really saying something. But it’s come by being diligent to the systems that Thrive has. By being consistent and diligent on doing podcasts and staying on top of those podcasts to really help with getting up on what they’re listing and ranking there with Google. And also we’ve been trying to get Google reviews, you know asking our customers for reviews and now we’re the highest rated and most reviewed Pest and Lawn Company in the Tulsa area. And that’s really helped with our conversion rate. And the number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411% over last year. Wait, say that again. How much are we up? 411%. Okay. So 411% we’re up with our new customers. Amazing. Right. So not only do we have more customers calling in, we’re able to close those deals at a much higher rate than we were before. Right now, our closing rate is about 85%, and that’s largely due to, first of all, like our Google reviews that we’ve gotten. People really see that our customers are happy, but also we have a script that we follow. And so when customers call in, they get all the information that they need. That script has been refined time and time again. It wasn’t a one and done deal. It was a system that we followed with Thrive in the refining process. And that has obviously, the 411% shows that that system works. Yeah. So here’s a big one for you. So last week alone, our booking percentage was 91%. We actually booked more deals and more new customers last year than we did the first five months. Or I’m sorry, we booked more deals last week than we did the first five months of last year from before we worked with Thrive. So again, we booked more deals last week than the first five months of last year. It’s incredible, but the reason why we have that success is by implementing the systems that Thrive has taught us and helped us out with. Some of those systems that we’ve implemented are group interviews. That way we’ve really been able to come up with a really great team. We’ve created and implemented checklists that when everything gets done and it gets done right, it creates accountability. We’re able to make sure that everything gets done properly both out in the field and also in our office. And also doing the podcast like Jared had mentioned that has really, really contributed to our success. But that, like I said, the diligence and consistency in doing those in that system has really, really been a big blessing in our lives, and also, you know, it’s really shown that we’ve gotten a success from following those systems. So before working with Thrive, we were basically stuck. Really no new growth with our business. And we were in a rut, and we didn’t know what was gonna- The last three years, our customer base had pretty much stayed the same. We weren’t shrinking, but we weren’t really growing either. Yeah, and so we didn’t really know where to go, what to do, how to get out of this rut that we’re in. But Thrive helped us with that. They implemented those systems, they taught us those systems, they taught us the knowledge that we needed in order to succeed. Now it’s been a grind, absolutely it’s been a grind this last year. But we’re getting those fruits from that hard work and the diligent effort that we’re able to put into it. So again, we were in a rut, Thrive helped us get out of that rut. And if you’re thinking about working with Thrive, quit thinking about it and just do it. Do the action and you’ll get the results. It will take hard work and discipline, but that’s what it’s gonna take in order to really succeed. So, and we just wanna give a big shout out to Thrive, a big thank you out there to Thrive. We wouldn’t be where we’re at now without their help. Hi, I’m Dr. Mark Moore. I’m a pediatric dentist. Through our new digital marketing plan, we have seen a marked increase in the number of new patients that we’re seeing every month, year over year. One month, for example, we went from 110 new patients the previous year to over 180 new patients in the same month. And overall, our average is running about 40% to 42% increase month over month, year over year. The group of people required to implement our new digital marketing plan is immense, starting with a business coach, videographers, photographers, web designers. Back when I graduated dental school in 1985, nobody advertised. that was ethically allowed in everybody’s eyes was mouth-to-mouth marketing. By choosing to use the services, you’re choosing to use a proven turnkey marketing and coaching system that will grow your practice and get you the results that you’re looking for. I went to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry from 1983 to 1985. Hello, my name is Charles Colaw with Colaw Fitness. Today I want to tell you a little bit about Clay Clark and how I know Clay Clark. Clay Clark has been my business coach since 2017. He’s helped us grow from two locations to now six locations. We’re planning to do seven locations in seven years and then franchise. And Clay has done a great job of helping us navigate anything that has to do with like running the business, building the systems, the checklists, the workflows, the audits, how to navigate lease agreements, how to buy property, how to work with brokers and builders. This guy is just amazing. This kind of guy has worked in every single industry. He’s written books with Lee Crockrell, head of Disney, with the 40,000 cast members. He’s friends with Mike Lindell. He does Reawaken America tours where he does these tours all across the country where 10,000 or more people show up to some of these tours on the day-to-day. He does anywhere from about 160 companies. He’s at the top. He has a team of business coaches, videographers, and graphic designers and web developers, and they run 160 companies every single week. So think of this guy with a team of business coaches running 160 companies. So in the weekly he’s running 160 companies. Every 6-8 weeks he’s doing Reawaken America tours. Every 6-8 weeks he’s also doing business conferences where 200 people show up and he teaches people a 13 step proven system that he’s done and worked with billionaires helping them grow their companies. I’ve seen guys from start-ups go from start-up to being multi-millionaires teaching people how to get time freedom and financial freedom through the system. Critical thinking, document creation, making it, putting it into, organizing everything in their head to building it into a franchisable, scalable business. Like one of his businesses has like 500 franchises. That’s just one of the companies or brands that he works with, so amazing guy. Elon Musk, kind of like smart guy. He kind of comes off sometimes as socially awkward, but he’s so brilliant and he’s taught me so much. When I say that, Clay is like, he doesn’t care what people think when you’re talking to him. He cares about where you’re going in your life and where he can get you to go. And that’s what I like him most about him. He’s like a good coach. A coach isn’t just making you feel good all the time. A coach is actually helping you get to the best you. And Clay has been an amazing business coach. Through the course of that, we became friends. I was really most impressed with him is when I was shadowing him one time. We went into a business deal and listened to it. I got to shadow and listen to it. When we walked out I knew that he could make millions on the deal and they were super excited about working with him. He told me, he’s like, I’m not going to touch it. I’m going to turn it down because he knew it was going to harm the common good of people in the long run. The guy’s integrity just really wowed me. It brought tears to my eyes to see that this guy, his highest desire was to do what’s right. Anyways, just an amazing man. Anyways, impacted me a lot. He’s helped navigate. Anytime I’ve gotten nervous or worried about how to run the company or navigating competition and an economy that’s like, I remember we got closed down for three months. He helped us navigate on how to stay open, how to get back open, how to just survive through all the COVID shutdowns, lockdowns. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9, and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys, we appreciate you, and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. Right, this is where we used to live a few years ago. This is our old neighborhood. See, it’s nice, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing, and this is our old team. And by team, I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing and this is our new team. We went from four to fourteen and I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome, but Ryan is a really great salesman. So we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts, and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place, we’ve gone from one to 10 locations in only a year. In October 2016, we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd, we’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business that we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you, thank you, thank you, times a thousand.
