  1. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “You either pay now or pay later with just about every decision you make about where and how you spend your time.” – Lee Cockerell (Partner and the former Executive Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts who once managed 40,000 employees, 1 million customers per week while being an incredible father and husband)
  2. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “The quality of your life is directly affected by how and where you spend your time.” – Lee Cockerell (Partner and the former Executive Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts who once managed 40,000 employees, 1 million customers per week while being an incredible father and husband)
  3. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.” – Steve Jobs (Co-founder of Apple and the former CEO of PIXAR)
  4. ACTION ITEM – Write down specific goals for the following areas:
    1. FAITH goals
    2. FAMILY goals
    3. FINANCES goals
    4. FITNESS goals
    5. FRIENDSHIP goals
    6. FUN goals
  5. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “Cognitive capacity and overall brainpower are significantly reduced when your smartphone is within glancing distance—even if it’s turned off and face down—according to a recent study.” – Are Smartphones Making Us Stupid? – Psychology Today
  6. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “In June 2016, another study reported that the typical smartphone owner typically gets interrupted / interacts with his or her phone an average of 85 times per day.” – Are Smartphones Making Us Stupid? – Psychology Today
  7. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – “You must set digital boundaries to win. The smartphone is the biggest distraction, productivity killer, intelligence reducer and stresser standing in the way of success for 90% of the clients that I have worked with in route to helping them achieve success. It’s hard to write a business plan, to update your proforma or to make sales calls when you are on Facebook or Twitter responding to a push notification or reactively responding to the text messages of everyone who has ever been in your life. Set digital boundaries and you will win.” – Clay Clark
  8. NOTABLE QUOTABLE – We need to re-create boundaries. When you carry a digital gadget that creates a virtual link to the office, you need to create a virtual boundary that didn’t exist before.” – Daniel Goleman (The psychologist and New York Times best-selling author of Emotional Intelligence)
  9. ACTION ITEM – Write down specific times in your schedule for the achievement of the following items (this would mean that your phone would be off while you mentally and physically engaged in these activities)
    1. FAITH goals
    2. FAMILY goals
    3. FINANCES goals
    4. FITNESS goals
    5. FRIENDSHIP goals
    6. FUN goals
  10. ACTION ITEM – Make a list of the things you will now begin saying no to.
  11. ACTION ITEM – Turn your phone off when you are not intentionally using your phone to call people (80% of the day).

Welcome back to the thrive time show have a business business coach question. Email is today and info at thrivetime, show.Com nation. Welcome back to the thrive time show on your radio. My name is clay clark and the business coach team and I were talking about designing your ideal. F6 life, designing your ideal lifestyle now this is. This is big, because if you don’t do this, what’s going to happen, is you’re going to find yourself with all the money in the world and not enough time to enjoy it or you’ll. Have things put on your schedule that you don’t want to do speak now, make more money. You feel the sense of obligation to do them so I’m, going to read you a bunch of notable coils from really really wise people, successful business people and I like the shop to give us, quick editorial on each one of these, so I’m going to go to the notable quotable. This is the first one from lee cockrellpeter pay now or pay later with just about every decision you make about where and how you spend your time. Does the guy I used to manage 40,000 employees as executive vice president of walt disney world resorts hit 1 million customers per week? He was in charge of, but he talked about this. He said his number one roll with being a husband being a husband and a father, but yet he was managing 40,000 employees in a million customers a week. So don’t talk to me about why it’s important to put the things that matter in your life into your actual calendar, actually scheduled. Well, i. Think it’s actually lee cockerell. It continues to talk about this concept of everything is a trade-off right. Everything is a trade-off, so you got to have your schedule. You better have your calendar and then you got to know that if you’re going to add something to it, you have to take something off first. Otherwise your calendar just going to become insane and i, can have time for anything that matters in your life.By. How and where you spend your time by how how where you spend your time.

So let me make sure you understand this termination, because I care so much I want to be personal. I want to make sure I’m real and make sure I’m offended with you. So here we go on saturday I went to h-e-b recorded a podcast podcast here saturday at 5:30 in the morning at 5:30 till about 7:30, then I got into the, and I drove all the way to downtown tulsa to go to watch a cheerleading event, because it was in my schedule right so I watch my three daughters, performance, cheerleading event in the performingi left, because it’s not on my schedule to watch the other people perform all day, because it’s not something that I feel called to do, and my wife agrees with me. So I was able to leave the house getting back fast forward. To my time, then I came back to tulsa, came back to tulsa back to the man cave back to the to the thrive. What kind of studio away from the studio the man cave studios at business coach camp clark in chicken, palace, yeah and I got out my book. I got my book a little notepad from a journal. I took that with me and my daughter, havana she’s 13. We went to all three elephant in the room:men’s grooming lounge doors because I wanted to because I had it in my schedule because I wanted to. Why are you saying it like that? I must say it that way. People will remember why you need to put these things into your schedulecan. My father and I write down the things that I want to improve. Three stores in my sched kaizen. Then after I did that I came back to my house and I proceeded to read cover-to-cover a book that is a fabulous book at the back of a start. It’s on my desk. This I just finished reading this book and I read it years ago, but I wanted to finish it. It’s the it’s the startup book. It’s got, the the the startup play who’s, the author of that things started going through its startup playbook with david a kidder which I cool, as he interviews like a reid hoffman and elon musk, the founder of honest tea and only sara blakely, and so I wanted to finish reading that and then tab it up so that for the show notes, I can make it easier to access some of the words of wisdom from that.

But it’s fully tab. It’s fully tabon the schedule to go to walgreens to get the things. I need and I know for a fact. A few days before that you had me put hey, grab my to do list and put plastic or book tabs on there. Soon, as I went to atwoods with my wife after that, and we had a great time at atwoods walking around looking for things like they could sell us and we’ve decided to order 15, silkie chickens that are being delivered to my house. 15 silkie chickens are kind of like a cat when you see them tickets, yet so I can check in before i. Believe you show me a picture. Silkie chickens are like divas and they are just there all about hanging out with you and they want anything. What we want you to pet him. We bought those the silkie chickens and then after we bought the silkie chickens, then we did. We came back to the house and then we went to the church and my son was dj. My son was dj at christian chapel. He wouldn’t watch them, beat you twice then after we did that after we did that, then we did. We went out to andolini’s on our date, which we do because my wife and I get to goweekly basis and we design our week scheduled until we designed the new org chart for elephant in the room, and then I hung out with my kids a little bit and I finished reading the book and I went to bed around way too late, because I should have finished the whole book and then I set my alarm for 5:30 and got up and have full business coach command over my schedule to the things I didn’t do now.

Steve jobs like to talk about that steve jobs has people think focus means saying yes to the thing you got to focus on:that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good idea is that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually is proud of the things we have it done, as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things. This is steve jobs, the co-founder of apple and the former ceo of pixar. To reason why I was able to achieve my goals for my faith, my family, my finances, my fitness, my friend took my phone. Your coach can help you do this. It’s because I did not respond to a single text. Message cuz, my phoneand I did not respond to a single social media message because my phone was off and nobody came to my house. Cuz I have a gate in front of it, and so I was completely uninterrupted. It’s on the show notes will put a note here but jumping in june of 2016. A study reported that the typical smartphone owner typically gets interrupted 85 times per day, and they came to the conclusion that your smartphone now reduces your cognitive processing skills to the level that most people who have a smartphone on during the day now can only process wife in a 3rd grade level. That’s something else. Does that blow your mind on the article? It’s called all your smartphone to making us stupid. Cuz are smartphones, making us stupid, psychology today daniel goleman, the psychologist. He says we need to recreate digital boundaries.

When you carry a digital gadget that creates a virtual link to the office, you need to create a virtual boundary that didn’t exist before number one get out your schedule and schedule in time for your faith, your family, your finances, your fitness, your friendship and your phone number to make a list of the things that you will begin to say no to and I would humbly suggest that tv and smartphones are the top two things that the biggest time-wasters they are there are there are just do it then turn your phone off 80% of the day, if you’re, not intentionally using your phone to make calls I am power you to not be reactive and shop. That’s how you livin at 6. Like my man, it’s it’s all about implementation. The ideas are not that complicated, but it’s about being steady and diligent with those ideas you turn your phone off. 80% of the dayactually yesterday was off of a hundred percent of the day and so I turn my phone off, probably more than that, but I would encourage. You drive nation to turn your phone’s off unless it on, for specific reason, do not very active and live that f6 life now
