As a business coach, I have learned a lot from Clay and Jonathan. From search engine optimization, and Google canonical compliance, to how to sell stuff and manage a team, and so many more things in between. However, none of these things would have made a difference in my life or my family’s life unless I actually took action and implemented that knowledge into my life. I think of it this way, Imagine you go to a gas station to fill up your car with gasoline. This gas that you are putting in your car has the potential to power your car and take you anywhere that you want to go. However, you can not simply just pump the gas then sit in your car expecting it to move you to your next destination. You have to take some action and take your keys and put them into the ignition and then turn the car on. Just like knowledge has the power to take us anywhere and bring us great success but we can’t just consume the information and then sit around waiting for it to change your life. You have to actually take action.
None of these things would have made a difference in my life or my family’s life unless I actually took action and implemented that knowledge into my life.
This was a big topic of discussion up here at the Thrive business coach offices this week. Clay talked to the business coaches about how education is simply entertainment without implementation. Which is so true, if you don’t plan on using the things that you learn, then why learn them? So many people have access to, or already have, the information they need to be successful yet they choose not too. Why? Could it be that they are waiting for it to actually just happen to them? Which, by the way, will never happen. Clay told us that he often tells some of his business coaching clients that inspiration is your reward. Boom, Read that again! Inspiration comes AFTER you start. If you are sitting around waiting for that wave of sustainable inspiration to come to you, it will not. Inspiration and continual motivation only come after you take action. You can read all the books on the subject, listen to all the podcasts, but nothing will change until you do. There will always be a reason to hold off taking action or putting your plan into place. But remember to earn more time and money you have to invest the time and money that you currently have. Just like to buy a house, my husband and I had to work extra hours and be diligent about saving our money. You will never run out of excuses if that is what you are looking for. So just get started now. Create your schedule, plan out each hour with the action items that will help you reach your goals. Use the knowledge that you have gained to make your decisions. Then just keep going, keep going when people are offended or tell you that you are crazy or have gotten mean. Your inspiration and motivation will follow your action and action is what brings success.
