Something that stuck with me this week when discussing the best business coach path with the Thrive business coaches is the emotional dependency that some of their clients retain. This is important to bring to light because at all levels of your adult life you will be required to make difficult split-second decisions that have a major impact on your business and relationships. Leading with your emotions is a recipe for disaster and will lead to regret as well as lack of execution. Your associates and friends will ultimately pin that to your “character file”. However, It would not hurt you to have a bit of emotion when choosing a new pair of shoes, cooking a steak to perfection, or putting a surgical edge on your blade. It has to feel right, to be right. When growing your business, your feelings on action items are NOT a direct factor to the action needed to be completed to achieve results. Your business is like a high-end sushi restaurant needing the sharpest and most durable knives possible. Do not let your internal emotional chef use a plastic butter knife.
CHIPS IN YOUR BLADE
Cooking is an intense ritual that puts my emotional intelligence to the test. I always prepare my recipe by first gathering my ingredients, account for the utensils needed, and most importantly, sharpen my knives. A knife is required to be razor-sharp to perform well enough to make the meal as intended. I’m sure the majority of you reading this have made the mistake of attempting to cut something with a dull knife, leading to subpar results that not only frustrate you but throw off the dish as well. Similar to having your employees in your business work on growing your business without checklists, to-do lists, and calendars. A checklist will easily remind them of the things needed to accomplish a task or job in a specific way to obtain the required result. Whether it is as simple of a task as cleaning the coffee maker or as complicated of a process as surgery described in The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande. Treat the best business coach systems in your business like chips in a dull blade that needs refinement to perfect the edge of your business. Checklists, To-do lists, and Calendars are the figurative whetstone that is necessary to increase the opportunity for your employees to be sharper. Do not let them grind for you the wrong way. Show them the correct methods and moves to get the job done from the beginning to the end of the day.
FINISHED EDGE
Once you begin to enjoy the benefits of the business systems you work hard to keep in place in order to accomplish your F6 goals. Be sure to maintain the edge of your business and personnel by auditing your best business coach team’s Key Performance Indicators to measure results and track the growth of your business. To truly be an optimal human that wants/needs to impact many others in a positive way whether it is a product or service. Checklists, To-do lists, and Calendars are a foundation for that success. Remember to keep your blades sharp and your kitchen clean.
