Repeatable Systems or Death!

One of the things Clay talks about in the BOOM Business coaching Playbook is that you have to create repeatable systems so that you can create time freedom. Whether it is signing for UPS packages or answering the phone, there should be a system for everything. The hardest part about the owner of business creating repeatable systems is the time it takes upfront. Although it is a very large investment into yourself and your business, I have seen as a business coach over and over again the benefits. The business owner must take the time to create the systems and hire employees to complete the systems.

 

It is always going to be worth it to do the hard things first and knock out the systems now.

 

Should I write a system for phone calls? Yes. When to take out the trash? Yes. Quality control? Yes. Everything should be so documented that a 3rd grader could pick up the checklist and do it. When is the best time to start creating these systems? Now is! If you create systems before you even have employees or an employee to perform the checklist, you have time to use it yourself and perfect it. You want to have the script before you even need it

Systems are used in every area of the business and in every step of the sales process. If you look, listen, and even smell (yes smell) closely when you walk into successful businesses, you can tell they have a system. For instance, let’s say you walked into an open door, that is being held open by an employee, and are greeted with a bright “Welcome and My Pleasure!”. You then smell a wonderful aroma, hear positive instrumental music above the head, and see clean tables, you’re probably at Chick-fil-A. Every one of those senses you experienced was 100% intentionally set up for you to experience. The founder of Chick-fil-A spent the vast majority of his life building that experience and system. He didn’t create it overnight but it sure did pay off. The Chick-fil-A system was built and is now unforced in every single location. They use the “Carrot and Stick” method with the location owners. You set the rules in place and have rewards and punishments when you don’t follow the rules.

The best place to start writing your business coach processes is at the beginning of your workflow. That will be the action taken to gather leads. Start there and work from left to right to build out your workflow. I find that when you don’t build systems, you get stuck for years and sometimes decades in your business. I always bring it back to the fact that the business exists to serve you not you to serve the business. It is always going to be worth it to do the hard things first and knock out the systems now. When you are ready to hire someone new, you will have a position ready and tasks lined up for them to do. Follow up with them daily and weekly and begin to enjoy using your newly found time freedom to achieve your life goals!
