Having worked at the Thrivetime show for over 3 years and now as a business coach, I have been advised to read many great books. This week, I read a book that was suggested by Clay Clark called Rich Habits – The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals by Thomas C. Corley, CPA. In this book, Thomas gives stories and examples, proven principles, and facts. He breaks down how and why you should have great daily habits and follow them daily. Thomas also explains that you should also list out your bad habits and aim to eliminate them. This is something I had never thought to do. I had always set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals and actionable “good habits”, I just never thought to do the opposite. When you write out your bad habits in a “to-do list” fashion, you can keep them top of mind and make it your daily goal to cross them off of your bad habits “to-do list”.
As a business coach, I have to adopt the mindset of “do it now”.
Another thing I have learned this week is that I have to stay on top of my fitness and health in order to keep up my good health and energy throughout the day. As a business coach, we are constantly in motion from meeting to meeting. There are very few times you can stop and eat a healthy meal. I have found that you can eat healthy alternatives in liquid form and still be as productive as ever while keeping up your energy. Having good health also means that you have to get enough sleep. I have found that, as a business coach, I need to wake up at 3:00 AM but I also need a healthy amount of sleep. In order to do that, I go to sleep at 9:00 PM every night and this allows me to get a healthy 6 hours of sleep every night.
As entrepreneurs, we have so many things flying around all at the same time. So many burning fires pop up here and there and it can be difficult to get everything done in one day. As a business coach, I have to adopt the mindset of “do it now”. If I have a free second between meetings or have a business coach client out of town, I have learned to never waste those valuable minutes to handle burning fires, action items, and to make follow up phone calls. It is so important to commit yourself to accomplishing your daily tasks every single day and not falling asleep before you do.
