If you want to do anything worthwhile in life, you’ve got to be hungry. It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared. The goal of this show is to help you soar. Alright Thrive Nation, welcome back to the Thrive Time Show on your radio. Imagine what it would be like to be raised in a family where your father goes to prison, and your mother raises you as a single mom Imagine what it would be like to then have the dream to play professional basketball but to grow to the height the maximum height as a high school senior of five foot three and despite your small stature you have a massive heart you’re absolutely committed to your craft your mom believes in you and And imagine what it would feel like to then be recruited by Wake Forest, where you play basketball from 1983 to 1987. Imagine what it would feel like to be drafted 12th overall in the NBA draft when you are, in fact, the shortest player in the history of the National Basketball Association. My friends, if you’ve ever felt like you are fighting against the wind, you’re fighting against the momentum, you feel like the odds are against you. You feel like you’re the underdog. You are absolutely going to love this interview with my friend and our guest, Tyrone Curtis Muggsy Bogues. Muggsy Bogues played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He played 10 seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. He also played with the Washington Bullets, the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors. I’m just telling this guy after retiring from the NBA has devoted his entire life to mentoring up people who and coaching people who think it’s not possible to do well in the game of life. This interview is filled with a lot of great dialogue and I just am super excited for you to meet the myth, the legend, the man, the guru, Tyrone Curtis Muggsy Bogues. With any further ado, our exclusive interview with Tyrone Muggsy Bogues. Hello, Muggsy. Hey, how’s it going? Well I am honored to talk to you, man. I remember cheering for when it was you and Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson and the Hornets. I just, I am amazed at your career. You played in the NBA for over a decade and yet you were the the shortest man in the NBA with probably the biggest heart. So I want to ask you, did you actually believe that you would play in the NBA when you were playing in high school? Well it was a dream. You know I had dreamt of that one day possibly, but at that time you know you were just thinking about getting to the next level. And the next level was college and you know proving stages, trying to break down the barriers. But it was always a dream. Well, you know, I’d read, and again, you don’t know how much is true what you find on the Internet, but I’d read that you were raised by a single mom and that she basically had a big impact on your life. And for a lot of listeners out there, we deal with mostly entrepreneurs who listen to our show who own businesses and they’re fighting against the odds to become successful. What role did your mom have in your life in terms of inspiring you or encouraging you that you could do it? Oh, well, she was the most impactful person in my life. She was my hero, which you alluded to, being a single mom. Most of my adult life, I’m on my younger life, younger days, I just witnessed her go back to school once my pops got put in prison uh… ever for kids not want to be you know put away fair she felt like you know she when she dropped out of school and and and and let me that she felt the main they go back there together dvd at the palm uh… so she can get a job in and the you know and provide for a family and you know bob and so young and with now that and and i remember you know with the chairman and all that, and seeing how your mother was determined to do well, I mean to do better for her family. It just inspired me to make sure that I did well, you know, the environment that I came from. And you can easily get influenced and get caught up and get into some negative things, but the positive influence that I witnessed by my mom is, you know, it was just amazing not even thinking to go that route. Now I had read that when you played in high school at Dunbar, three of your teammates went on to play in the NBA as well. And I’ve also read that you were kind of known as the leader in a lot of the basketball teams that you played on. Did you believe that three of your teammates would go on to play in the NBA? Were you kind of like the leader of the team in high school as well as the NBA? Well, yeah, we had a great high school crew back then. You know, we all grew up together. You know, we all pretty much grew up in different neighborhoods, but probably a two-mile radius with one another. We competed. Reggie and I grew up in the same project. So David and the other Reggie Laws may rest in peace. That was always, you know, someone we always competed against and we were just fortunate and blessed to go to the same high school and created one that, as they say, one of the best high schools that’s ever been assembled. That was orchestrated by Mr. Robert Bob Wade. But it was, you know, we always felt that these guys had big, you know, aspirations, big ambitions of doing something beyond college and high school. Their dream was to make it to the NBA. History was made when three of us were able to go in the same draft in 1987, which already had a former teammate that was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers prior to that. It’s a great testament of each one of us, our character, our determination to make it through the adversity that we were faced with growing up. Well, since you’ve retired, it seems as though you’ve focused a lot of your attention on mentoring kids and coaching kids and really being the mentor that a lot of people don’t have. Why are you so passionate about coaching and mentoring today? Why is that something you’ve decided to spend so much of your time doing? Well, I think that’s, you know, that was the God gift that, you know, He instilled in me, you know, and having that heart and that understanding, you know, how to pass it forward. And being able to do the things that I was able to do throughout my career, and now having, you know, these youngsters that’s coming through, that information is always the key. And you know, and they, you know, they asked him for it. So you know, for me to be, you know, to just be able to tell them and see, you know, my testimony and hear my testimony and witness and seeing the things that I’m all about, you know, gives them encouragement and gives them some hope that, you know, they can be who they want to be. You know, seeing a guy my size, doing the things that I did at the size that I am, that anything is possible. So, you know, that’s just a gift that God has instilled in me, that trying to make sure that, you know, our youth has that understanding, because you’ve got to know your history before you, you know, before you know the future. You know, my partner here, Dr. Zellner, is joining us here on the call. I’ve got to ask about it. I’ve got Muggsy on the line here. Sure, yeah. I mean, we just finished up two Game 7s, and we’re getting ready for a finals yet again of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. What would you think of this of the two series Maxie? Oh I mean it is a blessing to be you know watching these two teams continue to go at each other. I mean no one probably last week believed that any one of them will make it and especially team playing game seven on the road. I know facing two teams that was playing pretty good, but you know, it is, you know, they’re always the better team prevails and go to go to state. It’s, you know, they had four star players and all of them showed up. And that’s what allowed them to, you know, get over that hump against Houston. And then LeBron was able to do what he does. And he had a little help, a little support in the cast, and was able to unthrow the younger, you know, inexperienced Boston Celtic. So it’s great to be witness this type of, you know, battle between, it reminds you of the Lakers and the Celtics going at each other back in the day. Now in your prime, you had to go one-on-one with LeBron or say Kevin Durant. Which one do you beat down more? Ah, which one you beat down more Well, I tell you they keep both different specimens, you know It is you got a seven footer now Instead he played with his back towards the basket facing the basket beyond it beyond the three-point line And then you know LeBron case, you know, he’s out there dribbling the basketball, handling it just like Magic did, with a locomotive who has so much ability to put the ball in the basket as well as make guys run them better. So it’s great to see these guys doing what they do. Yeah, it really is. It’s fun and it’ll be a fun Finals again. I want to ask you a quick question here, and that is, what is the one trait that you saw? You were around a lot of professional athletes, and that’s a, that’s a, you know, there’s a lot of guys that start off that want to be professional athletes, right? You go to high school and everybody wants to be a professional athlete. You go to college. You go to the draft. I mean, guys get drafted and not everybody makes it. What’s the one trait or the most apparent trait that you saw in the men that made it to the NBA that kind of set them apart from the other guys that didn’t make it? Well, it’s the focus. focus, you know, is to focus and understand and, you know, what is all, you know, details is the key, you know, every little detail means just something. And some of the guys don’t, you know, and also it could be a little luck as well, but situation creates itself. And you, how you deal with that situation also, you know, allow that person or that player to separate themselves You know be all everybody has this skill set You know it’s always the mindset that separates you allow you to you know to overcome the you know the obvious now Mugsy I know we only have you for a few minutes I want to ask you this for all the listeners out there all the kids out there listening all the people out there that want To achieve great things with their career What’s the one bit of advice that you would give to all of our listeners out there who are trying to succeed against all odds? What’s the coaching moment you could give everybody? All hundred thousand people are listening at one time. They’re all downloading this podcast. What would be the encouragement you would give them? Well, for one, you’ve got to believe in yourself. You know, that’s where it starts. You know, if you don’t have the confidence within, you know, it’s very hard to spread and very hard for you to go out there and achieve the ultimate goal. And that’s for one. And then for two, you can’t be afraid to fail. Failure is part of success. By going through it, understanding what it takes to overcome that failure. And again, you’ve got to love yourself. You’ve got to have that foundation, you know, the foundation, because you gotta have so many people try to discount you or discredit you or just tell you who you ain’t and who you can’t be, you know, and by you having that understanding that I can choose and I can be whatever and I’m the only one in control of my destiny, you know, I can be whatever I want to be. And basically going out and doing it, you know, and that’s as simple as it is, you know, because there’s so many people that’s afraid to be successful. I don’t understand it. And it all starts with that belief in yourself. And by having that true mindset, you’ve got to have that mindset that put it out in the atmosphere that you can do and be whoever you want to be. If it wasn’t for that, for me, I wouldn’t be here talking to you today. All right, Thrive Nation, now to catch the rest of our exclusive interview with Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in the history of the NBA, you can go to thrivetimeshow.com, where I interview Muggsy Bogues and ask him, how do you establish yourself as a leader, and how do you command and demand the respect of other people in the NBA when you are 5’3″, and you’re going against guys like Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan and Alonzo Mourning and all these guys you’re playing with and against who are significantly taller than you. How do you command the respect of your peers? To hear the rest of the exclusive interview, go to Thrivetimeshow.com. You can click on the podcast button and you can find it there. On today’s show, we have a guest, two guests, Jared and Jennifer, that have actually gone through the Thrive Time Show coaching program to grow their business by, what was it, we said 338 percent in the last 12 months. Is that right? That’s correct, yep. And so, I can just say this, and I’m not saying this just because you’re here. I talk about this a lot in our coaches’ meeting. You guys are diligent doers. The Delrick group we work with out of New Orleans, those guys are diligent doers. Diligent doers are people that… Diligence means a steady application of effort. So is it easy? No. Are there struggles? Yes. But a diligent doer just applies consistent effort. It’d kind of be like chopping down an oak tree with like maybe an axe. You just keep hitting it and hitting it and hitting it. It takes a long time but eventually that thing will fall and I think that’s a trait you’re gonna find. You’re gonna find that with most successful entrepreneurs, not most, all successful entrepreneurs. There’s that diligence. There’s that steady application of effort. So I want to ask you, Jared, from your perspective, since Marshall’s been working with you and coaching with you, what’s been the hardest part about the action items that he’s asked you to do? What have been the parts where you said, gosh, honestly, that’s been the hardest part? I mean, or the hardest parts? Yeah. Yeah, well, actually, what I would say is scheduling the time to get it done, right? So when we first started working with Thrive, I was working more in the business. I realized I needed to work more on the business. And so since, as we’ve been having success, I’ve been able to transition to being able to work more on the business. But whenever I was first starting, it was really hard because I still had that mindset of working in the business, of constantly doing work there inside the business. So it was hard to schedule that time to work on the action items that Marshall would assign to us. But also on top of that, there’s always things that would come up. You know, we have three kids, you know, kids would get sick, employees would get sick, things always happen or they always seem to happen. But the other thing is really accepting those excuses, right? Because when you accept those excuses or you accept your own excuses, we all sometimes make excuses to kind of help us feel better about ourselves, to help us feel better about not doing a certain item. You know, we have an excuse. We have a justification with that. But by not accepting those excuses and just making sure that you’re going to get done really no matter what, right? If it takes going to sleep, you know, or getting less sleep, going to sleep later or waking up earlier to grind it out, that’s what has to be done. And it’s the consistent effort on doing that on a regular basis. Then you start getting that momentum. Then that momentum starts rolling forward. I would like to give the listeners an example that I’m dealing with right now. When you franchise a business, you have to do this thing called the franchise disclosure document. And there’s 23 items that are in that document, and each item has to be very detailed, very specific, and there’s a lot of information that goes into it. And so our franchise disclosure document will definitely take me, personally, a hundred hours. Now I have five kids. We do the podcast every day. I have things I’ve already signed up for. And so what I’m doing is I have set it up where on basically on the weekends, like Sunday, from like 3 a.m. until six when we do our podcast, when I record the podcast I’m doing that. I’m doing that between 3 a.m. and six, pretty much every day, just working on the franchise disclosure document in three hour chunks, just knocking it out. And I’m sleeping five, six hours a night, but I’m knocking it out because it needs to be done, but I quote unquote don’t have time. Because I’m already in my day, I already have a fully booked day. And I just, I think about this weekend, the power went out at our downtown store. I didn’t have time to deal with it, but I did. The downtown elephant in the room, the power went out because the power went out in that entire area, and so we had to deal with that. I don’t have time. See, nobody has time to get things done. I mean, Wes, nobody has time to get things done. So I want to start with you, Wes, on this. You’re an attorney. Yes. And you have a full book of business. I mean, you have as many clients as you want, but yet many great people reach out to you all the time. Right. And are interested in becoming a new client. How do you find time to execute the projects for the clients that are currently paying you while still talking to potential clients? How do you find the time, Wes? Well, you just have to make time and I think what you said was great, which is don’t accept your own excuses. It’s easy to say, oh, I’ve got a soccer practice with the kids or, you know, I’m already going to be here till 530. I don’t really want to stay later. I don’t want to get up earlier. You know, maybe I want to watch a movie or play a video game or play a board game or something instead of getting the work done. And I think it’s a lot of just having higher expectations for yourself. And then on the other side of that, sometimes I find myself working super hard but not making the time like you said about working on the business. You can get so wrapped up in doing the business, getting the projects done, the day-to-day grind, that you forget to sit down and take time, schedule time for higher level things for the business. Z, where do you find time to get things done? You’re very busy and you’ve told me this before, you’ve said, Clay, if something needs to be done during a day, I put it on my list, and that’s the one thing that has to get done for the day. You’re very purposeful about going, hey, I’m not going to have a thousand things on my list that have to get done, but the thing that has to get done is the thing that gets done. Can you talk to me about how you find time to get things done when you were starting and then even now as your companies have grown? May I beat up Wes just a little bit? Oh yeah. I mean, Wes, I love you. Oh, wow. Bring it. Here it comes. I’m going to bring it. He is going to endorse opening a business in California. That’s what’s going to happen right now. And New York. And New York. And New York. You go back and forth. Here we go. And I know it’s a term we use a lot, and people listen to it, and they say, what do you mean? And the term is make time. Yes. And I know you said it, and I know what you meant, but contrary to what anybody believes, and as smart as Wes is, as good-looking as he is, you cannot create more time. You can’t. That’s just the army. You’ve got 24 hours. You’re an attacker. I know. I know. We’re cage-fighting right now. I’m in the cage. I’m in the octagon. Make it stop. No, no. Today, it’s tough love. He’s my friend. It’s tough love. And what really has to happen is you have to delay gratification. The other step is taking your time. You have to say no to things? You have to say no to things. The average U.S. citizen right now, and you may be listening to this anywhere in the world, I don’t know what it is in South Korea. If Chup was here, I’d have him Google it. Well, in South Korea, they have it all figured out. Chup, can you Google this for me? Jeff, anywhere in the room? In the U.S., they’re watching 5.2 hours of TV a day. According to Nielsen. According to Nielsen, 5.2 a day. Facebook, interruptions. Oh, it’s terrible. Instagram. My booking. Snap. Grammy. Instagram. Twitter. I’m just reading tweets of other people that are tweeting. My face, right. My face, which is made for radio. Yes, all these things are taking so much of your time. You may be wondering, I don’t have the time. You know what? You have the time. You do have the time. You have to appropriate the time. What that means is delaying gratification on all the stuff you’re doing. You can’t make new time, but you can control the time you have. You have to schedule it. And to answer your question real quick, I’m a night owl. You’re an early, you’re a morning lark. We’ll call you a lark. I’m the night owl. Who, who, who, who’s that in my backyard? I’m going to shoot them. Who? You know that? I’m the night owl. You’re the morning lark. So, who, hey. Right, that’s true. That’s true. Now, Z, what we’re going to do is we’re going to come back from the break. I’m going to interrogate Jared and Jennifer more about how they’ve been able to grow platinum pest and lawn and take it to the next level. But before we do that, during the break, I encourage anybody out there, if you’re looking for a chiropractor, if you are looking for a chiropractor, go to drjohnsibley.com. That’s drjohnsibley.com. He’s a great guy, a great chiropractor. Drjohnsibley.com. Stay tuned. Attend the world’s best business workshop led by America’s number one business coach for free by subscribing on iTunes and leaving us an objective review. Claim your tickets by emailing us proof that you did it and your contact information to info at thrive timeshow.com. All right, Thrive Nation, welcome back to the Thrive Time Show on your radio. We’ve had quite a show today. We’ve had Muggsy Bogues, the NBA legend, the shortest NBA player in the history of the NBA. We had him on the show today. Now we have a… 5 foot 3 inches. 5 foot 3 inches. 5 foot 3. He played 14 years in the NBA. Dude, you’re almost like a foot taller than him. It’s amazing. I mean, he wasn’t a novel… You think he’s like late 40s, you know, and so I’m 37, I think right now I could post him up and then he would steal the ball and I would lose like, I think I could lose, like, he would have 10 points and I would have one point. My favorite question though is when I ask him about the current NBA finals, you know? Right. So if you missed the earlier part, you need to go back and listen to it. You gotta go listen to it. You gotta listen to it. You have no choice. You gotta go. Thrivetimeshow.com. It’s like a tractor beam. But it was funny when I asked, the jury would laugh when I said, okay, in your prime, who would you beat down more, LeBron or Kevin Durant? He started laughing. I don’t know that he could beat either one of them down. I don’t know, he’s quick. LeBron is such a freak. He is. I mean, he’s like 6’9″. I know, and he’s just massive. Just jacked. And then Kevin Durant is like… 7′ long and 3’20”. It just doesn’t make sense. I’m stupid. I think of another guy who’s disproportionately, he uses his physicality to get things done. Wes Carter’s here with Winner’s King. Is he more of a LeBron or a Kevin Durant? Well he’s Tulsa’s number one attorney in my humble opinion. Wes Carter, would you consider yourself to be more of a LeBron or more of a Durant guy? I’d have to go with Durant out of those two. Really? You’re more of a face the basket, step back, hit a three? I mean, finesse. Your game’s finesse? Yeah. You’re not the power forward? I’m going to go with my mind. Jennifer, you are the co-founder of Platinum Pest and Lawn. Do you actually get into basketball? Do you care? I played when I was in third grade, but that was about it. That was about it? Okay. Okay. Not currently. Not currently. You’re kind of neutral. You’re the Switzerland of NBA right now. Yes. I respect that. And we were talking about this earlier, and I want to get back into it. You guys, before reaching out to Thrive, you first heard about us on the podcast, the radio show. Then you guys booked your ticket to the workshop. What was going on in your mind previous to attending the workshop? When your husband said, hey, you know, we should attend a workshop, were you thinking, it’s probably a scam? Because that’s what I think what everybody thinks, because there is so many business scams out there. There are so many business scams. What was your thought going into it? Were you reluctant? Were you going, I don’t have time for this? Were you right away excited about it? I mean, what was your mindset headed into the workshop? I was definitely reluctant. You know, we’re a team in this, and so I trusted his opinion, and so I thought I’d go and give it a shot. Yeah. But I was not super thrilled about doing it. Jennifer, your husband tells earlier that he had listened to some shows. Had you listened to any of the shows? I don’t think I had. So you just went in cold. You just went in cold. Yep. You just said, okay honey, I’m pregnant. Get me a wheelchair, roll me on in there, give me a pad and a pencil, and we’re gonna get this thing done. I mean, so you just went there with no expectations. Yes. What did you think when you went in? I thought it was really different than I expected. I expected more of a business formal situation and it wasn’t. It was a lot more comfortable, a lot more fun, and it kind of threw me off and so I think that was probably a good thing because it sent all my expectations out the window. Just so you know, that’s the entire reason why I do every single thing I do there because when I spoke, my move, when you speak, you wear a suit, a blue suit, you wear a white shirt, you wear a red tie. You go out there and you say things that are politically correct, which means they’re not true. And you speak in circles and you basically talk in vagaries and that’s the key to becoming a successful motivational speaker. What? What? I’m serious. That’s a mockery. Every single talk I did, the event plan, I remember I did an event in Vegas, this is one of the last ones I did, she said, here’s the deal, Whole Foods has recently decided to take a stance about XYZ, so we’re talking about the brands with the highest net promoter score, you can’t reference Whole Foods. Also Starbucks has recently taken a stance on ABC, and that’s kind of offensive to this group so we’d prefer if you wouldn’t talk about that. Now, Walmart really beats up their employees, and so you can’t reference them. And I’m like, so basically you want me to talk about social justice in France. Well, last time I checked, France has not created anything worth talking about in a long time. Okay. Spain. Oh. Spain. Come on, France. Statue of Liberty. France. I mean, just think about it. I mean, Frank went over there and got the queue. Spain. Spain. Nope. As Google? Nope. As Facebook? Nope. As Nike? Nope. As Toyota? Nope. As Ford? Nope. As Southwest Airlines? Nope. But they’ve got great soccer teams. Right. Okay, thank you. Because it’s affordable, everyone can afford it, they’re all hanging out, it’s very affordable. And it’s a beautiful country. Spain? Yeah, Spain. I’m just saying, speaking events want you to speak as though America is currently Spain. That’s what they want you to do. So, at the conferences, we teach the real stuff. So when you hear it, I mean, it’s like real specific actionable stuff. I want to ask you about the stuff that you’ve learned that’s helped you acquire more customers. What kind of stuff have you learned, have you applied with your business coaching experience? Have you learned, whether it be from the conference or your coach, that’s allowed you to get more customers? Having a script is a major thing that we’ve done that we didn’t do before. Whenever customers call in, we always say the same thing. It has all of the right information. We refined that script over time to make it more and more effective, and it’s allowed us to have an average and often more, a higher percentage of 85% close rates. So 85% of the people who call in turn into new customers. Are you recording the calls? Yes. So Wes, I want to ask you this, because you’re an attorney. Talk to me about the legality of call recording, you know, because Elephant in the Room records the calls, Oxifresh records the calls, American Express records the calls, Target records your actual visit to Target on video cameras. Talk to me about the legalities of recording calls and video in a retail environment. Well, with phone calls, you want to disclose that you’re going to record the call, because states have different… Some states are a one-way state where you don’t have to disclose. Yeah, one-party states and two-party states. Two parties just mean both parties to the conversation need to consent. One-party states means as long as one party knows, everybody’s… you know, then it’s legal to record it. So if you’re going to be doing business over state lines, which eventually if you grow enough you will, I just suggest sticking in a little… Also I’d recommend if you’re listening right now and you’re thinking about opening a business in California, I wouldn’t do it. Or New York. I’m being serious though. I wouldn’t do it. Because it’s like, just for oxy-fresh right now, we’re talking on a call with a lawyer today about franchising, and the laws in that state are just like, it is like three times, four times as much bureaucracy to open up a business in California. You just jump through the hoops. Don’t be a Nancy. Call recording is brutal in California. Is it not? You can have a successful business and never record a phone call. Right, you can do it. In theory. Okay, so don’t make me come over there. Go ahead, Wes. Continue. No, I think that pretty much covers it. I think that and then video, you know, you just want to check the laws and the locality where you are because video, you know, depends on whether it’s open and obvious or not. Can you even own a video camera in California, Z? Pardon? I’m just messing with you. I said, can you even own a video camera in California? Dude. OK, I’m on the break. It’s on. On the break, it’s on. As long as you don’t record a cop, it’s OK. Now, we come back. I want to talk more about this. I want to talk about the hardest part about growing a business. We teach you the systems. And it might seem kind of easy to teach the systems. But executing the systems has got to be a little bit tough. And I think Jared and Jennifer are great examples of people that have executed the systems. So we come back, I want Jared to talk about what has been the biggest challenge involved in actually executing the systems. Because Jared’s a grinder, Jennifer’s a grinder, you guys are abnormal in how diligent you are. And I think there’s a lot of people that maybe struggle with things. I know you probably struggle with them too, but what has been the hardest part about executing the proven path with the Thrive Time Show business coaching program. Thrive Nation, welcome back to the Thrive Time Show on your radio, where we’re playing Street Fighter clips and having a good time here talking about how to grow a successful company. And specifically, we’re sharing the platinum pest and lawn story, because these guys are diligent doers that heard of us originally through this podcast and through this radio show, then came out to a workshop, and now your company’s grown by, I think you said 300 percent? 338. Percent in the past 18 months. I mean that’s 12 months. And so I want to really, Z, can I get negative before Jared helps us get positive? You know what, it’s, it’s, it’s, are you playing bad cop and I’m doing good cop? I was going to take it. Jared’s going to do good cop. Jared’s going to be good cop. Okay, you, yes, you have full, full access to your bad cop. Put your bad cop hat on. Your bad cop big boy pants on. Are you wearing pants? I can’t see you. Shorts. Shorts. My wife calls them… What does she call them? Are they denim? Are they like, skorts? No, they’re like really long. They’re Fab Five Michigan shorts. I’ll come up with a name for it in a minute. Fab Five Michigan. You know, they’re getting a little shorter now. I mean, happy days are here again. I mean, come on. I don’t know that we’ll ever go like Larry Bird short again. No, we won’t get there. I’m always getting longer, though. You’re not going to go. What do they call them when they’re like an ankle length? What do they call that, Marshall? There’s a name that my wife… Caprize. You’re not going to go like Caprize on me, are you? They’re closer to Caprize than pants. Dude, you’re not going to go Caprize on me, are you? I have to. Long live the past five. Listen, if you asked me a serious question, if you said, Z, I could walk into the man cave, and I could either have on A, Caprize, or B, Long Live the Past Five. I’m not going to go Caprize on you. I’m not going to go Caprize on you. I’m not going to go Caprize on you. I’m not going to go Capri’s, or B, Larry Bird short shorts. Go Capri’s, bro. I don’t know. If you wore Larry Bird, no one else is coming in the studio with you. You’re a Euro style. You’ll be in that room by yourself. I don’t know, but Capri’s. You’re a culottes, is what it’s called. Culottes. Oh, what the hell. That’s what my wife calls them. Culottes. That’s what I wear. Did you Google that? No, I jumped in here. Jumped on the show. Now, here’s the deal. Here’s the deal. Years ago, I started a company called DJ Connection out of my dorm room at Oral Roberts University, and I was very happy to have success. I grinded. A friend of mine calls me and says, hey, I have a DJ company. How did you do it? I told him specifically the steps to do. I showed him. I wasn’t charging for this. I was just helping him. I’d hop on a call every week with him. And he never implemented anything I taught him, despite the fact that I showed him what to do. And I was doing it for free. I’m taking like every, I mean seriously, it’s probably two nights a week. I’m hopping on the phone, and he’s like, how do you get to the top of Google? I show him. He says, dude, how do you convert more inbound leads? I show him. How do you, and I’m walking him through the steps, but he just refused to do it. Why do you think that is? I believe that in the Bible. Oh gosh. Proverbs 10.4. You’re going biblical on me. Well, no, there’s a part of the Bible that, it’s terrible, but it’s true. It’s Proverbs 14.23. Proverbs 14.23 reads, All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. So I think a lot of folks, a lot of people, not our listeners, and certainly not anybody that we know, but other people, just this former DJ guy I knew, what happens is you believe that if you know everything, that alone will get you to success. Hmm, interesting. Proverbs 10 verse says, lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. So now that we’ve gone negative, I’m going to go positive. Jared over here, we asked you, Jared, to start podcasting as a way to get to the top of Google in an affordable way. Because elephant in the room, I just pay my team to pump out about 200 to 300 articles a month. Now, walk the listeners through why that is. Whoever has the most content on their website that’s original and relevant, hypertext markup language text, whoever has the most text, the most words, basically if you don’t know what I’m talking about, just Google search the word dog. And the reason why Wikipedia comes up top is because they have the most original words. And so if you want to create the most words, you have a fork in the road here. Either A, you write the content yourself, or B, you pay someone to do it. And so Jared and his wife are aware of their budget and aware of where they’re at and aware of what they’re doing. And so he says, and this is, I’m not kidding, out of like a hundred and something clients we might work with at any given time, this is like 1%. He says, I’ll go ahead and write the content. We’re going, you’re going to write the content? It’s almost like we don’t know what to do. Like, you’re going to write the content? He’s going to write the content! He’s going to write the content! Ah! You know, it’s almost like, is this a sign of the end times? I mean, this is like a revelation. Dogs and cats living together. We’re worried. Yeah, we’re worried. You should be. So explain to the listeners out there, when do you write your content and how do you write your content for Platinum Pest? Yeah, so what I do is I do podcasting. So I podcast the shows, and then those are transcribed, and those are put on our website. It really helps our listing there. But when I do it, I’ve set aside time to get it done. But not only that, I bought one of those, actually I think Jennifer bought me one of those recorders that I just carry in my car, carry in my hand. And as I was going to jobs, I would just pull out the recorder and start podcasting time and time and time and time and time again. But the key was really to be diligent on it. When we first started, my goal was to do 75 a month, and I was doing that. I was hitting 75, 75, 75. And then now it’s kind of got to the point where we’re bringing in more revenue, we’re bringing in more income, so I’m able to do that less myself and delegate it out and get that taken care of. Y’all have helped us a lot on that by doing that, but when we were first starting off, it was just that grind, that time and grind. Wait a second. You… Wait, wait, wait. Time out. Pump, pump, pump, pump, pump the brakes. So you’re in a vehicle. You’re driving to your site, your next job, when you could be Facebooking, you could be MySpacing. You could be pontificating about your political opinions, both left or right of the aisle. You could be Snapchatting the entire drive to the 12 people that follow you on Snapchat. You could be posting an Instagram selfie of you in the truck, driving to your next job and showing how good of a driver you are. You could be rummaging through an old TV guide, wondering if anybody else looks through these to figure out when the next episode of The Voice is airing. You could be driving by 18-wheelers, giving the honk sign You can be the casino bringing anything Because I got a few minutes to kill you could buy lottery tickets, but instead you pulled out your recorder, and you were working Yeah, absolutely well We knew that was the only way to get to the top and and and Jennifer was great because it was we recently had it had our had our third child at that time and And so she knew that I had to make sacrifices at that time. And so she knew that I had to make sacrifices, or we both had to make sacrifices, in order to get to the top and do that. So I would pull out my recorder any time I could and do those podcasts. I had my goal for the week, and there were some times I wasn’t able to get to them during the day. And this work, Jen, was absolutely amazing. It was great to have someone on board. We’re both on the same page. So there were times when it was time to put the kids to bed, but I hadn’t got the podcast done. And so she encouraged me to do the podcast and get those done. It’s not normal. Yet again, I’m telling you, this is an awesome relationship. This is so exciting to see this because this is so rare. It’s so easy. I mean, how many times have we, have you met? I don’t know a couple that puts kids to bed. Yeah. Is that what you’re talking about? I’m saying, I know a lot of couples that are married together that try to do a business together, and they just struggle to work together. This is unique. This is a unicorn event. It is a unicorn event, and that’s why Forbes gives us the numbers we hate. Yeah. And that’s why so few businesses make it. Nine out of ten businesses fail. These are the kind of real stuff. If you’re listening out there, listen to this. This is the kind of real stuff you have to do to be successful. People aren’t just going to hand it to you. They don’t just go, hey, that’s a great idea. Here’s a check.” Right. Oh, that’s a super, super, super good thing you want to do. Here’s some money. Now, before you ran into Thrive, you guys were having some issues, like all businesses do, with personnel issues, acquiring new customers, and converting leads to customers. So I’m going to let Jennifer take the mic here. Personnel issues. Can you talk to me about how our systems have helped you fix, once and for all, the personnel issues, recruiting good people. Absolutely. Before we were working with Thrive with you guys, we were kind of held hostage by our employees. We had built our business kind of around the employees that we had and their particular skills. We didn’t have systems in place and so we didn’t want to make our employees mad because they might leave and then we’d be stuck. We couldn’t get rid of employees that really shouldn’t have stayed as long as they did, because if we did, then that would put more work on us, it would put business behind. And so after we started doing the coaching, we started doing group interviews, and that revolutionized everything because we were holding weekly group interviews, and we were able to find awesome people when we weren’t actually looking to hire anyone. And so we have been able to really build a great team of employees who they share the same values that we do. They work hard and so that has really made a big difference in getting quality people. We come back from the break. I want to talk more about the Platinum Pest story. Let Tulsa get to know these wonderful people behind Platinum Pest and Lawn. But before I do that, I want to talk about platinum-pestcontrol.com. Z, have you ever been to platinum-pestcontrol.com? No, but they’ve come to me now. These people. I mean, they’re here. I can reach out and touch them. My wife was attacked by bees, and these guys came out and eradicated the bees. Oh, no. No, they didn’t. That’s good. They eradicated the bees. Yeah, I saw the sting mark. He was not good. I’m not good. She needs to go see a doctor. She’s got to get a little steroid shot or something. Oh, she’ll be fine. It’s kind of swelling up gross, though, bro. It’s kind of looking like end-time, a little bit there. I’ll tell you what. If only we would have called Platinum Pest to eradicate all forms of bees previous to that sting. I’m telling you, if you want to eradicate the bees and remove the snakes by your leg, go to platinum-pestcontrol.com. Stay tuned. My name is Clay Clark. Welcome back to the Thrive Time Show on your radio. And today what we are doing is we have, Z, we have yet another unicorn event. Another. Another unicorn event. How is it possible? How, you know what? What? I think what’s happened is, is that new well water that your wife, your wife went out and drilled a well in your backyard. What’s your well aware of? A well? A well water. I thought you meant whale water. The shortest player in the history of the NBA. He didn’t play as a novelty for one season or two. Couple of days after the well was made. My point. Go continue. That’s unbelievable. Think about this. We had the shortest player in the history of the NBA who had a very long career on our show. That’s pretty cool. 14 years or something like that. Yeah. And now we have members of the Thrive Nation. These guys have started a company like so many people want to do. But despite the odds, I mean, think about this, the Small Business Administration says that 9 out of 10 startups fail. Don’t say it, don’t say it! And 8 out of 10 existing companies fail. But yet these guys are thriving, they’re doing well. I’m excited to have Jared and his incredible wife Jennifer on the show with Platinum Pest. Jared, how are you doing, my man? I’m doing great, thanks for asking. It’s a pleasure to be on the show today. Okay, now let me ask you this here. So Jennifer, how long have you been married to this man over here? Almost 10 years. 10 years! So, when did you guys start this platinum pest business together? In 2011, so 7 years ago. So 7 years ago. And what has your growth rate been, let’s say, in the last 18 months? You know, we’ve really hit… we’ve really spiked since starting with Thrive, but before that I was pretty stagnant. So have you increased by 10% or 20% or 30%? Because the average American business grows by 2.9%. Are you growing by 2.9%, Jared? Have you gone backwards? I mean, are you getting further ahead there since you’ve been working with Thrive there? Yeah, absolutely. Before we were pretty much stagnant before we started working with Thrive. For about three years, we really didn’t move up. We really didn’t move down. And so, it was just really in a scary position to be at. But since that time, since working with Thrive, Jennifer, you have those numbers right there where we’ve been the last year. Oh, here we go. She’s a statistician. She is. Uh-oh, uh-oh. I do love numbers. So, in the last year since we started working with Thrive, our number of new customers has increased by 338%. Wow! Z! 338%. Wow! Now, here’s the deal. This for Z and I… I say it backwards. Wow! I see what you did there. That’s impressive. I’ll flip it upside down. Mom! I say that this is for Z and I, this is what we’re all about. We love to help folks like you grow your business. So what I want to do today is I want to dive into first, objectively, from my opinion, from my experience, from my perspective, what you guys are doing well. And then I want to get to know you guys and let all the listeners kind of hear more about your company. But these guys, Jared and Jennifer, when Marshall, their coach, asked them to go out there and gather Google reviews, you really did not have a problem getting positive reviews because you have a lot of customers that like what you do. So I want to start there. Why do you guys show up on time and do what you say you’re going to do? Because I can tell you, I’ve been coaching for almost 13 years, and I would say 9 out of 10 small business owners struggle with that part. But yet you two, I mean, you have kids, right? How many kids do you guys have? We have three. But yet you guys show up, you do what you’re supposed to do. What’s going on? I’m going to start with you, Jared. What motivates you to do what you say you’re going to do? Because that’s a big thing for Platinum Pest. There’s so many pest control companies. But you guys do that, and it’s really, the marketing is helping you get more leads, yeah, but that growth is from that repeat business. What’s going on? What motivates you guys to do the right thing on a daily basis? Character. Character and reputation is a big part of it. And so we want to make sure that we follow through with what we say we’re going to do. That’s really a big part of it. We also know that in order to achieve our goals, we’ve got to make the sacrifices necessary to be able to get there. In order to do that, we have to follow through with our commitments and follow through with our responsibilities there. What is, and Z, I want to get your take on this, Z, because you are a guy who started an optometrist clinic, just like a lot of other optometrists. I’m a dude with the dude about the dude. But what time does it say on your door that your store is going to be open on Monday? Or I’m not going to have an R for random. I’m not trying to paint you into a corner. We’re not sure. What time do you open? 9 a.m. And when I’ve been to your business, I’ve been to your business at 9 because I want to beat the rush before on a Saturday. I’ve been there, I’ve been there at the 9 the time it opens. Yes. I’m just, I’m just saying this having coached companies now for almost 13 years. Sad story. I worked with a deli years ago. It wasn’t even a client yet. She said, I would love if you could coach my business. I said, sure. This is probably 10 years ago. I go out to her business and I said, what time is your deli open? She said, oh, 7am, you know, big traffic in the morning. And then there’s a handwritten sign, like a homeless man would write, that says, sorry, couldn’t be here today. And I’m like, okay, that’s kind of weird. Go back. I was officing downtown at the time, right next to the Mayo Hotel, by the way. I was in that building just right next to the Mayo Hotel. And office in there. And long story short, this was the continuals. If it was six days a week they were open, two of those six days there would be some random experience to keep it from opening. And I see that all the time in small business. So I want to ask you, why are you at your optometry clinic so obsessed with honoring the times that you put on the door. Are you perfect? No. But why can you seem to be open every day and that’s so hard for most aspiring small business owners? You know, there’s a lot of things you can take from people and if you take their time and waste it, they don’t forgive you very easily. So if you say you’re going to be somewhere at some time or your business is going to be open. So my staff, they’re scheduled at 8.30. So even if, you know, and there’s multiple ones that are scheduled at 8.30, so therefore by 9, someone’s there and they open the doors, obviously, right? That is a, that you cannot not be open when you say you’re going to be open for a business. I mean, that is the kiss of death. It’s kind of like in the auto auction business. You bounce one check and your business is dead. I mean, and they’re completely… Because the word’s going to spread. The word spreads and they’re like, oh, you can’t, their money’s no good. You can’t trust them. Don’t do business with them. And I mean, they’ll kill a business, that business particularly. That is the one thing you can’t do. And I think for most, like that deli you’re talking about, you’ve got to be open when you say you’re open. You’ve got to be. On a very fundamental level, though, I look at this because this is so exciting to have you guys on the show because you guys have three kids, you know? And so my wife and I have five kids. And I just want to ask you, as a mom, when… I don’t recall… How old are your kids, by the way? How old is your oldest child? He’s six. Okay, we had five kids under the age of seven at one point, okay? And we had the five kids, like every day someone’s either sick or someone has spilled something or something weird has occurred that could have kept my wife from doing payroll. But my wife would always do it. And so like I could just count on her like a rock. You know I mean she would somehow find a way to be ambidextrous with raising the kids and doing payroll. And it was a deal where I see a lot of other couples where unfortunately when there’s a problem with the kids maybe the the husband won’t do his job or the wife won’t do their job and then payroll gets missed or taxes get missed or critical things get missed. And you guys are kind of a couple that works together here. How did what happens when the kids get sick? Jennifer, what’s your role in that? How do you find a way to get it all done? Because that’s a pretty powerful thing you’re doing. Your consistency is so abnormal. Well, you know, you find a way to make it happen. With our third, I was probably about seven months pregnant and our youngest was sick. And they wanted to snuggle and watch TV on the couch. So with my six-year-old’s help, we kind of rearranged our love seat and our couch Oh, I could sit on the couch have a kid on each side and the computer in my lap So I you know could still get the things that I needed to so I used the carpet slider so I’d like to at some point during one of today’s segments like that Marshall hop on your coach because Marshall has worked with a lot of couples, and I’m just telling you you guys Stand alone or at least in that top 5% of clients we work with where it’s like they’re a husband and wife team and both of them get their job done despite having kids. And I think that’s a huge challenge. I think, Z, I think the home office has killed, the lure of the home office has killed the productivity of a lot of small business owners. It’s like they believe they’re going to put that little, you know how you get a new house today, you get a new home, kind of a McMansion with a wood floor. It’s got the smooth walls. And the distressed cabinetry. The distressed. And it’s like the hand-scraped wood. It’s like they pay guys to come in with chains and just whack the crud out of it. And you walk in to the right, and that’s where that office is, that home office right there. It’s always on the right. And it becomes a catch-all for toys and intentions. Oh yeah. When you have something you want to do, but you’re not going to do it, you put it in that room and it doesn’t get done. I’m just, because this is… The black hole. What you guys are doing is not normal. So I’m going to give you a chance, Mr. Jaren. Can you explain what your wife does that’s so awesome? Because I mean, this is rare. I don’t see this where a husband and wife are flowing together like this. Is it some type of, what is going on? Are you guys on steroids? Are you guys dating all the time? What’s happening? This is impressive. Yes, dating, yes. It happens on a regular basis, of course. But she is, you know, I’ve been doing a lot of podcasts to help our Google rankings, and with those podcasts, I often refer to her as Wonder Woman or Super Woman. Yes. Because somehow she figures… Which one is it? Is it Wonder or Super? Because they’re two different characters. Oh. Two entirely different characters. What is a lasso and an invisible plane? Depends on the day. Oh. Okay. So she’s good to know. Yeah. So she somehow just figures out a way to get it done. I mean, the kids aren’t lacking. They still have their mom, right? She’s able to nurture them. She’s able to do and really fulfill that role as a mother, but not only a mother, but a great mother. But at the same time, she’s still able to help me with the business. She’s a full partner in the business. Not normal. She does so much. This is not normal. Yeah, but she does so much. See, this is not normal. They’re not normal people. This is the kind of people we attract, Clay. Right. This is the kind of people. Do you get that? We have a new normal. This is our new normal. Our normal is not normal. Do you get that? I am asking… We’re not normal. We know that. Yeah, my gourd is larger than the average man. Well, that’s one way. That’s one way. Now, what I want to do, Zee, when we come back from the break, I want for Jared and Jennifer to be able to explain to the listeners all of the services they offer there at Platinum Pest, but also to explain how they arrived at these services. A lot of your running a business is listening to the market and if enough people ask you, hey, could you do this? Could you do that? Could you do that? Pretty soon you might start to say, yeah, we could do that. So I really want to get a deep dive into the services you offer and what makes Platinum Pest and lawn different. But see, before I do that… I want to deep dive. I’m a little teaser for our Thrive Nation out there, too. I want to deep dive in how they got hooked up with us and the process and what it meant to them and just walk and them walking through that. So that’s a couple of segments I know. How they hooked up with us. We got a fun show. The services they offer, it’s too much. My mind cannot handle it. Don’t explain. Now Z, something else my mind can’t handle. Z, have you seen how clean the urinals are on Monday? You know, I am impressed by the look of not only Thrive headquarters, but also my office on Memorial. Z, recently, you know, I’ve decided, you know, a lot of times you look in the mirror, make sure you look good. Bro, you don’t understand this. In my break room, that floor hasn’t been cleaned in forever. I saw my reflection in it the other day. That’s what I’m saying. I’m telling you what, it was scary. You can now look into the floor and see your reflection. Who’s attacking me? If you want your bathroom to become a porcelain palace, if you want your floors to become a mirror, then you’ve got to call our good friends over there at TheClassicClean.com. Imagine what it would be like to be raised in a family where your father goes to prison and your mother raises you as a single mom. Imagine what it would be like to then have the dream to play professional basketball, but to grow to the height, the maximum height as a high school senior of 5’3″. And despite your small stature, you have a massive heart. You’re absolutely committed to your craft. Your mom believes in you. And imagine what it would feel like to then be recruited by Wake Forest, where you play basketball from 1983 to 1987. Imagine what it would feel like to be drafted 12th overall in the NBA draft when you are in fact the shortest player in the history of the National Basketball Association. My friends, if you’ve ever felt like you are fighting against the wind, you’re fighting against the momentum, you feel like the odds are against you, you feel like you’re the underdog, you are absolutely going to love this interview with my friend and our guest Tyrone Curtis Muggsy Bogues. Muggsy Bogues played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He played 10 seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. He also played with the Washington Bullets, the Golden State Warriors, and the Toronto Raptors. I’m just telling you, this guy, after retiring from the NBA, has devoted his entire life to mentoring up people and coaching people who think it’s not possible to do well in the game of life. This interview is filled with a lot of great dialogue, and I just am super excited for you to meet the myth, the legend, the man, the guru, Tyrone Curtis Muggsy Bogues. I am amazed at your career. You played in the NBA for over a decade, and yet you were the shortest man in the NBA with probably the biggest heart. So I want to ask you, did you actually believe that you would play in the NBA when you were playing in high school? Well, it was a dream. I had dreamt of that one day, possibly. But at that time, you were just thinking about getting to the next level. And the next level was college and, you know, proving stages, trying to break down the barriers. But it was always a dream. Well, you know, I’d read, and again, you don’t know how much is true, what you find on the Internet, but I had read that you were raised by a single mom and that she basically had a big impact on your life. Most of my adult life, I’m on my younger life, younger days. I just witnessed her go back to school once my pops got put in prison, having four kids and not wanting to be put on welfare. She felt like when she dropped out of school in 11th grade, she felt the need to go back to get her GED, her diploma, so she can get a job and provide for her family and you know Bob being so young and witness all that and saying how your mother you know was determined to you know to do well I mean to do better for a family it just inspired me to make sure that I did well you know the environment that I came from and you can easily get easily influenced and get caught up and get into some negative things but you know But the positive influence that I’ve witnessed by my mom is just amazing. I’m not even thinking of going that route. Now, I had read that when you played in high school at Dunbar, three of your teammates went on to play in the NBA as well. And I’ve also read that you were kind of known as the leader on a lot of the basketball teams that you played on. Did you believe that three of your teammates would go on to play in the NBA? Were you kind of like the leader of the team in high school as well as the NBA? Well, yeah, we had a great high school crew back then. You know, we all grew up together. We all pretty much grew up in different neighborhoods, but probably a two-mile radius with one another. We competed. Reggie and I grew up in the same project. So David and the other Reggie Laws may rest in peace. That was always someone we always competed against and we were just fortunate and blessed to go to the same high school and created one that, as they say, one of the best high schools that’s ever been assembled. That was orchestrated by Mr. Robert Bob Wade. But it was, you know, we always felt that these guys had big, you know, aspirations, big ambitions of doing something, you know, beyond college and high school. And their dream was to make it to the NBA. And history was made when three of us was able to go in the same draft in 87, which already having, you know, a former teammate that was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, you know, prior to that. So that was just a great, you know, testament of each one of us, our character, our determination to make it through, you know, the adversity that we were faced with growing up. Well, you know, since you’ve retired it seems as though you focused a lot of your attention on mentoring kids and coaching kids and really being the mentor that a lot of people don’t have. Why are you so passionate about coaching and mentoring today? I mean, why is that something you’ve decided to spend so much of your time doing? Well, I think that’s the God gift that he instilled in me, and having that heart and that understanding, you know, how to pass it forward. And being able to do the things that I was able to do throughout my career, and now having these youngsters that’s coming through, that information is always the key. And you know, they’re asking for it. I mean, we just finished up two Game 7s, and we’re getting ready for a finals yet again of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. What did you think of the two series, Muggsy? Oh, I mean, it is a blessing to be watching these two teams continue to go at each other. I mean, no one probably last week believed that any one of them will make it and especially team playing game seven on the road No facing two teams that was playing pretty good, but you know it is you know they’re always the better team prevails and Go listen go to state It’s you know they have four star players and all of them showed up and that’s what? Allowed them to you know get over that hump against Houston and then LeBron was able to do what he does. Which one you beat down more They did both different specialness, you know, it is you got a seven-footer now Instead he played with his back towards the basket facing the basket beyond the three-point line And then you know LeBron case, you know, he’s six nine power forward which back and out Dave was a call Malone size But here he is out there dribbling the basketball hound it just like magic did and with a locomotive We’ll have so much ability to put the ball in the basket as well as make guys run them better It’s great to see these guys doing what they do. Yeah, it really is. It’s fun. It’ll be a fun finals again I’m gonna ask you a quick question here and that is what is the one trait that you saw you around a lot of professional athletes and that’s a, that’s a, you know, there’s a lot of guys that start off that want to be professional athlete, right? I mean, you go to high school, everybody wants to be a professional athlete. You even go to college, you go to even the draft, I mean, guys get drafted and not everybody makes it. What’s the one trait or the most apparent trait that you saw in the men that made it to the NBA that kind of set them apart from the other guys that didn’t make it? Well, it’s the focus. You know, it’s the focus and understanding, you know, what it all… You know, details is the key, you know. Every little detail means just something. And some of the guys don’t, you know… And also, it could be a little luck as well. But situation created itself. And you… And how you deal with that situation also allows that person or that player to separate themselves. Everybody has their skill set. There’s always the mindset that separates you, allows you to overcome the obvious. Now Muggsy, I know we only have you for a few minutes, so I want to ask you this. For all the listeners out there, all the kids out there listening, all the people out there that want to achieve great things with their career, what’s the one bit of advice that you would give to all of our listeners out there who are trying to succeed against all odds? What’s the coaching moment you could give everybody? All hundred thousand people are listening at one time. They’re all downloading this podcast. What would be the encouragement you would give them? Well, for one, you’ve got to believe in yourself. You know, that’s where it starts. You know, if you don’t have the confidence within, you know, it’s very hard to spread and very hard for you to go out there and achieve, you know, the ultimate goal. And that’s for one. And then for two, you can’t be afraid to, you know, to fail. You know, failure is part of success. You know, by going through it, understanding that what it takes to overcome that failure. And you know, and again, you gotta love you. You just, you know, you gotta have that foundation. You know, the foundation, because you gotta have so many people try to discount you or discredit you or just tell you who you ain’t and who you can’t be, you know, and by you having that understanding that I can choose and I can be whatever, and I’m the only one who can control my destiny, you know, I can be whatever I want to be. And basically going out and doing it, you know, and that’s as simple as it is. Because there’s so many people that’s afraid to be successful, I don’t understand it. And it all starts with that belief in yourself. And by having that true mindset, you gotta have that mindset that, put it out in the atmosphere that you can do and be whoever you wanna be. If it wasn’t for that, for me, I wouldn’t be here talking to you today. in the NBA when you are 5’3 and you’re going against guys like Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan and Alonzo Mourning and all these guys you’re playing with and against who are significantly taller than you. And on today’s show, we have a guest, two guests, Jared and Jennifer, that have actually gone through the Thrive Time Show coaching program to grow their business by, what was it we said, 338% in the last 12 months. Is that right? That’s correct, yep. And so I can just say this, and I’m not saying just because you’re here, I talk about this a lot in our coaches meeting, you guys are diligent doers. The Delrick group we work with out of New Orleans, those guys are diligent doers. Diligent doers are people that, diligence means a steady application of effort. So is it easy? No. Are there struggles? Yes. But a diligent doer just applies consistent effort. It can be like chopping down an oak tree with maybe an axe. You just keep hitting it and hitting it and hitting it. It takes a long time, but eventually that thing will fall. And I think that’s a trait you’re going to find. Timber! Oh, you’re going to find that with most successful entrepreneurs, not most, all successful entrepreneurs. I mean, or what are the hardest parts? Yeah. Yeah, well, actually, what I would say is scheduling the time to get it done, right? So when we first started working with Thrive, I was working more in the business. I realized I needed to work more on the business. And so since, as we’ve been having success, I’ve been able to transition to being able to work more on the business. But whenever I was first starting, it was really hard because I still have that mindset of working in the business, of constantly doing work there inside the business. We have an excuse. We have a justification with that. But by not accepting those excuses and just making sure that you’re going to get done really no matter what, right? If it takes going to sleep or getting less sleep, going to sleep later or waking up earlier to grind it out, that’s what has to be done. And it’s the consistent effort on doing that on a regular basis, then you start getting that momentum. Then that momentum starts rolling forward. I would like to give the listeners an example that I’m dealing with right now. When you franchise a business, you have to do this thing called the franchise disclosure document. There’s 23 items that are in that document. Each item has to be very detailed, very specific, and there’s a lot of information that goes into it. Our franchise disclosure document will definitely take me personally 100 hours. Now I have five kids, we do the podcast every day, I have things I’ve already signed up for. And so what I’m doing is I have a set it up where on basically the weekends, like Sunday, from like 3 a.m. until six when we do our podcast, when I record the podcast I’m doing that. I’m doing that between 3 a.m. and six, pretty much every day, just working on the franchise disclosure document in three hour chunks, just knocking it out. I’m sleeping five, six hours a night, but I’m knocking it out because it needs to be done. But I quote, unquote, don’t have time. Because I’m already in my day, I already have a fully booked day. I think about this weekend, the power went out at our downtown store. I didn’t have time to deal with it, but I did. The downtown elephant in the room, the power went out because the power went out in that entire area, and so we had to deal with that. I don’t have time. Nobody has time to get things done. I mean, Wes, nobody has time to get things done. So I want to start with you, Wes, on this. You’re an attorney. Yes. And you have a full book of business. I mean, you have as many clients as you want, but yet many great people reach out to you all the time and are interested in becoming a new client. How do you find time to execute the projects for the clients that are currently paying you while still talking to potential clients. How do you find the time Wes? Well you just have to make time and I think what you said was great which is don’t accept your own excuses. It’s easy to say, oh I’ve got a soccer practice with the kids or you know I’m already going to be here until 5.30. I don’t really want to stay later. I don’t want to get up earlier. You know maybe I want to watch a movie or play a video game or play a board game or something instead of getting the work done. And I think it’s a lot of just having higher expectations for yourself. And then on the other side of that, sometimes I find myself working super hard, but not making the time like you said about working on the business. You can get so wrapped up in doing the business, getting the projects done, the day-to-day grind that you forget to sit down and take time, schedule time for higher level things for the business. Z, where do you find time to get things done? You’re very busy. You’ve told me this before. You’ve said, Clay, if something needs to be done during a day, I put it on my list, and that’s the one thing that has to get done for the day. You’re very purposeful about going, hey, I might have a thousand things on my list that have to get done, but the thing that has to get done is the thing that gets done. Can you talk to me about how you find time to get things done when you were starting and then even now as your companies have grown? May I beat up Wes just a little bit? Oh yeah. I mean, Wes, I love you. Oh wow. Bring it. Here it comes. I’m going to bring it. He is going to endorse opening a business in California. That’s what’s going to happen right now. And New York. And New York. And New York. You go back and forth. Here we go. And I know it’s a term we use a lot and people listen to it and they say, what do you mean? And the term is make time. And I know you said it, and I know what you meant, but contrary to what anybody believes, and as smart as Wes is, as good looking as he is, you cannot create more time. You can’t. That’s just your means. You’re an attacker. You’re an attacker. I know, I know. You attack Wes. We’re cage fighting right now. I’m in the cage. I’m in the octagon. Make it stop. No, no. Today’s good. It’s tough love. He’s my friend. It’s tough love. Okay. And what really has to happen is you have to delay gratification. The other step is taking your time. You want to say no to things? You have to say no to things. The average U.S. citizen right now, and you may be listening to this anywhere in the world, I don’t know what it is in South Korea. If Chup was here, I’d have him Google it. Well, in South Korea, they have it all figured out. Chuck, can you Google this for me? Chuck, anywhere in the room? In the U.S., they’re watching 5.2 hours of TV. According to Nielsen. A day. Yeah. According to Nielsen, 5.2 a day. A day. Facebook. Interruptions. Oh, it’s terrible. Hours a day. Instagram. Hours. My booking. My booking. Snap. Snapface. Gramming. Snap Twitter. Whatever. Instant YouTube. I mean, just reading tweets of other people that are tweeting. My face. Right. My face, which is made for radio. Yes. All these things are taking so much of your time. You may be wondering, I don’t have the time. You know what? You have the time. You do have the time. You have to appropriate the time. What that means is delaying gratification on all the stuff you’re doing. You can’t make new time, but you can control the time you have. You have to schedule it. And to answer your question real quick, mine’s at night. I’m a night owl. You’re at morning lark. We’ll call you a lark. I’m the night owl. Who? Who? Who? Who’s that in my backyard? I’m going to shoot them. You know that? I’m the night owl. You’re the morning lark. So, who? Hey. Right. That’s true. That’s true. Now, Z, what we’re going to do is we’ll come back from the break. I’m going to interrogate Jared and Jennifer more about how they’re able to grow platinum pest and lawn and take it to the next level. But before we do that, during the break, I encourage anybody out there, if you’re looking for a chiropractor, if you are looking for a chiropractor, go to DrJohnSibley.com. That’s DrJohnSibley.com. He’s a great guy, a great chiropractor, Dr. John Sibley.com. Stay tuned. We’ve had quite a show today. We’ve had Muggsy Bogues, the NBA legend, the shortest NBA player in the history of the NBA. We had him on the show today. Now we have a 5 foot 3 inches. 5 foot 3 inches. 5 foot 3. He played 14 years in the NBA. Dude, you’re almost like a foot taller than him. It’s amazing. You think he could take him? You think he could take him? I think right now, because I think he’s like late 40s, you know, and so I’m 37. I think right now I could post him up and then he would steal the ball and I would lose like, I think I could lose like, he would have 10 points and I would have one point. My favorite question though is when I ask him about the current NBA finals, you know? Right. So if you missed the earlier part, you need to go back and listen to it. You have no choice. It’s like a tractor beam. It’s like a tractor beam. But it was funny when I asked, did you ever laugh when I said, in your prime, who would you beat down more, LeBron or Kevin Durant? He started laughing. I don’t know that he could beat either one of them down. I don’t know, he’s quick. LeBron is such a freak. He is. I mean, he’s like 6’9″. I know, and he’s just massive. And then Kevin Durant is like… Seven foot long and three point… It just doesn’t make sense. I’m stupid. I think of another guy who’s just… It’s going to be five finals. It’s going to be five finals. Who’s disproportionately, he uses his physicality to get things done. Wes Carter’s here with Winner’s King. Wes, Wes, Wes Carter. Is he more of a LeBron or a Kevin Durant or a… Well, he’s Tulsa’s number one attorney in my humble opinion. Wes Carter, I mean, would you consider yourself to be more of like a LeBron or more of a Durant guy? I’d have to go with Durant out of those two. Really? You’re more of a face the basket, step back, hit a three? Right. I mean, finesse. Your game’s finesse. Yeah. You’re not the power forward. I’m going to go with my mind. Jennifer, you are the co-founder of Platinum Pest and Lawn. Do you actually get into basketball? Do you care? I played when I was in third grade, but that was about it. That was about it? Okay, okay. Did you have a debate about LeBron? Not currently. Not currently. You’re kind of neutral. You’re the Switzerland of NBA right now. Yes. I respect that. And we were talking about this earlier, and I want to get back into it. You guys, before reaching out to Thrive, you first heard about us on the podcast, the radio show. Then you guys booked your ticket to the workshop. What was going on in your mind previous to attending the workshop? When your husband said, hey, you know, we should attend a workshop, were you thinking, it’s probably a scam? Because that’s what I think everybody thinks because there is so many business scams out there. But I was not super thrilled about doing it. Jennifer, your husband tells earlier that he had listened to some shows. Had you listened to any of the shows? I don’t think I had. So you just went in cold. You just went in cold. Yep. You just said, OK, honey, I’m pregnant. Give me a wheelchair. Roll me on in there. Give me a pad and a pencil. We’re going to get this thing done. I mean, so you just went there with no expectations. Yes. What’d you think when you went in? I thought it was really different than I expected. I expected more of a business formal situation, and it wasn’t. It was a lot more comfortable, a lot more fun, and it kind of threw me off, and so I think that was probably a good thing because it sent all my expectations out the window. The number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411 percent over last year we are Jared and Jennifer Johnson We own platinum pest and lawn and are located in a Wausau, Oklahoma And we have been working with thrive for business coaching for almost a year now Yeah, so so what we want to do is we want to share some wins with you guys that we’ve had by working with thrive First of all we’re on the top page of Google now. Okay, I just want to let you know what type of accomplishment this is. Our competition, Orkin, Terminex, they’re both 1.3 billion dollar companies. They both have two to three thousand pages of content attached to their website. So to basically go from virtually non-existent on Google to up on the top page is really saying something. But it’s come by being diligent to the systems that Thrive has. By being consistent and diligent on doing podcasts and staying on top of those podcasts to really help with getting up on what they’re listening and ranking there with Google. And also we’ve been trying to get Google reviews, you know, asking our customers for reviews and now we’re the highest rated and most reviewed Pest and Lawn company in the Tulsa area and that’s really helped with our conversion rate and the number of new customers that we’ve had is up 411% over last year. Wait, say that again. How much are we up? 411%. Okay, so 411% we’re up with our new customers. Amazing. Right. So not only do we have more customers calling in, we’re able to close those deals at a much higher rate than we were before. Right now our closing rate is about 85%, and that’s largely due to, first of all, like our Google reviews that we’ve gotten. People really see that our customers are happy. But also, we have a script that we follow. And so when customers call in, they get all the information that they need. That script has been refined time and time again. It wasn’t a one and done deal. It was a system that we followed with Thrive in the refining process. And that has obviously, the 411% shows that that system works. Yeah, so here’s a big one for you. So last week alone, our booking percentage was 91%. We actually booked more deals, more new customers last year than we did the first five months, or I’m sorry, we booked more deals last week than we did the first five months of last year from before we worked with Thrive. So again, we booked more deals last week than the first five months of last year. It’s incredible, but the reason why we have that success is by implementing the systems that Thrive has taught us and helped us out with. Some of those systems that we’ve implemented are group interviews. That way we’ve really been able to come up with a really great team. We’ve created and implemented checklists. Everything gets done and it gets done right. It creates accountability. We’re able to make sure that everything gets done properly both out in the field and also in our office. And also doing the podcast like Jared had mentioned that has really really contributed to our success but that like is of the diligence and consistency and doing those and that system has really really been a big blessing in our lives and also you know it’s really shown that we’ve gotten a success from following those systems. So before working with Thrive, we were basically stuck. Really no new growth with our business. And we were in a rut. And we didn’t know… The last three years, our customer base had pretty much stayed the same. We weren’t shrinking, but we weren’t really growing either. Yeah, and so we didn’t really know where to go, what to do, how to get out of this rut that we’re in. But Thrive helped us with that. They implemented those systems, they taught us those systems, they taught us the knowledge that we needed in order to succeed. Now it’s been a grind, absolutely it’s been a grind this last year, but we’re getting those fruits from that hard work and the diligent effort that we’re able to put into it. So again, we were in a rut, Thrive helped us get out of that rut, and if you’re thinking about working with Thrive, quit thinking about it and just do it. Do the action and you’ll get the results. It will take hard work and discipline, but that’s what it’s gonna take in order to really succeed. So, we just wanna give a big shout out to Thrive, a big thank you out there to Thrive. We wouldn’t be where we’re at now without their help. Hi, I’m Dr. Mark Moore, I’m a pediatric dentist. Through our new digital marketing plan, we have seen a marked increase in the number of new patients that we’re seeing every month, year over year. One month, for example, we went from 110 new patients the previous year to over 180 new patients in the same month. And overall, our average is running about 40 to 42% increase, month over month, year over year. The group of people required to implement our new digital marketing plan is immense, starting with a business coach, videographers, photographers, web designers. Back when I graduated dental school in 1985, nobody advertised. The only marketing that was ethically allowed in everybody’s eyes was mouth-to-mouth marketing. to use a proof and turnkey marketing and coaching system that will grow your practice and get you the results that you are looking for. I went to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, graduated in 1983, and then I did my pediatric dental residency at Baylor College of Dentistry from 1983 to 1985. Hey guys, Luke Erickson here with the Thrive Time Show. As you can see behind me, we’ve got all kinds of energy going on. People are starting to show up for the conference and it is hot in this place. We’ve got grill guns over here, we’ve got people playing the drums, we’ve got a fire breather, and man, people are so excited as they come in. Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the grill gun. Hi, I’m Bob Healy. I’m the inventor of the grill gun and the civy gun. Tim Tebow is coming to Tulsa, Oklahoma June 27th and 28th. We’ve been doing business conferences here since 2005. I’ve been hosting business conferences since 2005. And a lot of people, you know, have followed Tim Tebow’s football career on the field and off the field, and off the field, the guy’s been just as successful as he has been on the field. Now, the big question is, JT, how does he do it? Well, they’re going to have to come and find out, because I don’t know. Well, I’m just saying, Tim Tebow’s going to teach us how he organizes his day, how he organizes his life, how he’s proactive with his faith, his family, his finances. He’s going to walk us through his mindset that he brings into the gym, into business. It is going to be a blasty blast in Tulsa, Russia. Also, this is the first Thrive Time Show event that we’ve had where we’re going to have a man who has built a hundred million dollar net worth. Wow. Who’ll be presenting. Now, we’ve had a couple presenters that have had a billion dollar net worth in some like a real estate sort of things. Yeah. But this is the first time we’ve had a guy who’s built a service business and he’s built over a $100 million net worth in the service business. It’s the yacht driving, multi-state living guru of franchising. Peter Taunton will be in the house. This is the founder of Snap Fitness, the guy behind nine round boxing. He’s going to be here in Tulsa, Russel, Oklahoma, June 27th and 28th. JT, why should everybody want to hear what Peter Tauten has to say? Oh, because he’s incredible. He’s just a fountain of knowledge. He is awesome. He has inspired me listening to him talk and not only that, he also has, he practices what he teaches, so he’s a real teacher. He’s not a fake teacher like business school teachers, so you got to come learn from him. And now the best-selling author of The Carnivore Diet and the multiple-time Joe Rogan guest, Dr. Sean Baker joins our two day interactive business growth and life optimization workshop. Also let me tell you this folks, I don’t want to get this wrong because if I get it wrong someone’s going to say, you screwed that up buddy. So Michael Levine, this is Michael Levine, he’s going to be coming and he’s going to say, who’s Michael Levine? I don’t want to get this wrong. This is the PR consultant of choice for Michael Jackson, for Prince, for Nike, for Charlton Heston, for Nancy Kerrigan, 34 Grammy Award winners, 43 New York Times best-selling authors he’s represented, including pretty much everybody you know who’s been a super celebrity. This is Michael Levine, a good friend of mine. He’s going to come and talk to you about personal branding and the mindset needed to be super successful. The lineup will continue to grow. We have hit Christian reporting artist Colton Dixon in the house. Now, people say, Colton Dixon’s in the house? Yes, Colton Dixon’s in the house. JT, you’re in the process of building a super successful company. Did you start out with a million dollars in the bank account? No, I did not. Nope, did not get any loans, nothing like that. Did not get an inheritance from parents or anything like that. I had to work for it. And I am super grateful I came to a business conference. That’s actually how I met you, met Peter Taunton. I met all these people. So if you’re out there today and you want to come to our workshop, again, you just got to go to thrivetimeshow.com. You might say, well, when’s it going to be? June 27 and 28. But if you type in Thrive Time Show and Jinx, you can get a sneak peek or a look at our office facility. This is what it looks like. This is where you’re headed. It’s going to be a blasty blast. You can look inside, see the facility. We’re going to have hundreds of entrepreneurs here. It is going to be packed. Now, why would a man living in Hollywood, California in the beautiful sunny weather of LA come to Tulsa because last year I did it and it was damn exciting. Clay Clark has put together an exceptional presentation really life-changing and I’m looking forward to seeing you then. I’m Michael Levine I’ll see you in Tulsa. Thrive Time Show two day interactive business workshops are the world’s highest rated and most reviewed business workshops because we teach you what you need to know to grow. You can learn the proven 13 point business systems that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to fix your conversion rate. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two-day, 15-hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re going to leave energized, motivated, but you’re also going to leave empowered. The reason why I’ve built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur, I always wish that I had this. And because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter bunny, but inside of it, it was a hollow nothingness. And I wanted the knowledge, and they’re like, oh, but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop, we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get-rich-quick, walk-on-hot-coals product. It’s literally, we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. to not believe what I’m saying, and I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say, are they successful because they’re geniuses, or are they successful because they have a proven system? When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s going to be the best business workshop ever. And we’re going to give you your money back if you don’t love it. We’ve built this facility for you, and we’re excited to see it. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person, two-day, interactive, Thrive Time Show business workshop? Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money. So if you’re out there today and you want to attend our in-person two-day interactive business workshop, all you got to do is go to Thrivetimeshow.com to request those tickets. And if you can’t afford $250, we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable for you. I learned at the Academy in Kings Point, New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Harvard Kiyosaki, The Rich Dad Radio Show. Today I’m broadcasting from Phoenix, Arizona, not Scottsdale, Arizona. They’re closed, but they’re completely different worlds. And I have a special guest today. Definition of intelligence is if you agree with me, you’re intelligent. And so this gentleman is very intelligent. I’ve done this show before also, but very seldom do you find somebody who lines up on all counts as Mr. Clay Clark. He’s a friend of a good friend, Eric Trump. But we’re also talking about money, bricks, and how screwed up the world can get in a few and a half hour. So Clay Clark is a very intelligent man and there’s so many ways we could take this thing but I thought since you and Eric are close, Trump, what were you saying about what Trump can’t, what Donald, who’s my age, and I can say or cannot say Well I have to, first of all I have to honor you sir, I want to show you what I did to one of your books here There’s a guy named Jeremy Thorn, who was my boss at the time. I was 19 years old, working at Faith Highway. I had a job at Applebee’s, Target, and DirecTV. He said, have you read this book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad? I said no. My father, may he rest in peace, he didn’t know these financial principles. I started reading all of your books and really devouring your books. I went from being an employee to self-employed, to the business owner, to the investor. I owe a lot of that to you. And I just wanted to take a moment to tell you, thank you so much for allowing me to achieve success. And I’ll tell you all about Eric Trump, but I just want to tell you, thank you, sir, for changing my life. Well, not only that, Clay, you know, thank you, but you’ve become an influencer. You know, more than anything else, you’ve evolved into an influencer where your word has more and more power. So that’s why I congratulate you on becoming. Because as you know, there’s a lot of fake influencers out there too, or bad influencers. Yeah. So anyway, I’m glad you and I agree so much and thanks for reading my books. Yeah. That’s the greatest thrill for me today. Not a thrill, but recognition is when people, young men especially, come up and say, I read your book, changed my life, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, I’m doing this. I learned at the Academy, Kings Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Hey, I’m Ryan Wimpey. I’m originally from Tulsa, born and raised here. I went to a small private liberal arts college and got a degree in business, and I didn’t learn anything like they’re teaching here. I didn’t learn linear workflows. I learned stuff that I’m not using, and I haven’t been using for the last nine years. So what they’re teaching here is actually way better than what I got at business school. And I went what was actually ranked as a very good business school. The linear workflow, the linear workflow for us in getting everything out on paper and documented is really important. We have workflows that are kind of all over the place. So having linear workflow and seeing that mapped out on multiple different boards is pretty awesome. That’s really helpful for me. The atmosphere here is awesome. I definitely just stared at the walls figuring out how to make my facility look like this place. This place rocks. It’s invigorating. The walls are super, it’s just very cool. The atmosphere is cool. The people are nice. It’s a pretty cool place to be. Very good learning atmosphere. I literally want to model it and steal everything that’s here at this facility and basically create it just on our business side. Once I saw what they were doing, I knew I had to get here at the conference. This is probably the best conference or seminar I’ve ever been to in over 30 years of business. You’re not bored. You’re awake, alive the whole time. It’s not pushy. They don’t try to sell you a bunch of things. I was looking to learn how to just get control of my life, my schedule, and just get control of the business. Planning your time, breaking it all down, making time for the F6 in your life, and just really implementing it and sticking with the program. It’s really lively, they’re pretty friendly, helpful, very welcoming. I attended a conference a couple months back, and it was really the best business conference I’ve ever attended. At the workshop, I learned a lot about time management, really prioritizing what’s the most important. Biggest takeaways are you want to take a step-by-step approach to your business, whether it’s marketing, what are those three marketing tools that you want to use, to human resources. Some of the most successful people and successful businesses in this town, their owners were here today because they wanted to know more from Clay and I found that to be kind of fascinating. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned is diligence. That businesses don’t change overnight. It takes time and effort and you’ve got to go through the ups and downs of getting it to where you want to go. He actually gives you the road map out. I was stuck, didn’t know what to do and he gave me the roadmap out step by step. We’ve set up systems in the business that make my life much easier, allow me some time freedom. Here you can ask any question you want, they guarantee it’ll be answered. This conference motivates me and also give me a lot of knowledge and tools. It’s up to you to do it. Everybody can do these things. There’s stuff that everybody knows, but if you don’t do it, nobody else is going to do it for you. I can see the marketing working. It’s just an approach that makes sense. Probably the most notable thing is just the income increase that we’ve had. It’s super fun, it’s super motivating. I’ve been here before, but I’m back again because it motivates me. Your competition is going to come eventually or try to pick up these tag teams. So you better, if you know, somebody else will. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys, we appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. This is where we used to live a few years ago. This is our old neighborhood. See? Nice, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing and this is our old team and by team I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing and this is our new team. We went from four to fourteen and I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome but Ryan is a really great salesman so we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts, and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place, we’ve gone from one to 10 locations in only a year. In October 2016, we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd, we’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month, and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship, and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business That we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you. Thank you. Thank you times a thousand So we really just want to thank you clay and thank you Vanessa for everything. You’ve done everything you’ve helped us with We love you guys If you decide to not attend the ThriveCon workshop, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. The Atmosphere plays office is very lively. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk through the door, and it really got me and my team very excited. If you decide not to come, you’re missing out on an opportunity to grow your business, bottom line. I love the environment. I love the way that Clay presents and teaches. It’s a way that not only allows me to comprehend what’s going on, but he explains it in a way to where it just makes sense. The SEO optimization, branding, marketing, I’ve learned more in the last two days than I have the entire four years of college. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned, marketing is key, marketing is everything. Making sure that you’re branded accurately and clearly. How to grow a business using Google reviews and then just how to optimize our name through our website also. Helpful with a lot of marketing, search engine optimization, helping us really rank high in Google. The biggest thing I needed to learn is how to be a good sales person. I think that’s the most important thing. I think that’s the most important thing. I think that’s the most important thing. optimization, helping us really rank high in Google. The biggest thing I needed to learn was how to build my foundation, how to systemize everything and optimize everything, build my SEO. How to become more organized, more efficient. How to make sure the business is really there to serve me, as opposed to me constantly being there for the business. New ways of advertising my business, as well as Group interviews, number one. Before we felt like we were held hostage by our employees. Group interviews completely eliminates that because you’re able to really find the people that would really be the best fit. Hands on how to hire people, how to deal with human resources, a lot about marketing, and overall just how to structure the business, how it works for me, and also then how that can translate into working better for my clients. The most valuable thing I’ve learned here is time management. I like the one hour of doing your business is real critical if I’m going to grow and change. Play really teaches you how to navigate through those things and not only find freedom, but find your purpose in your business and find the purposes for all those other people that directly affect your business as well. Everybody, everybody, everyone, everyone needs to attend the conference because you get opportunity to see that it’s real. Hey Flyover family, come join us June the 27th and 28th 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We’re gonna be there with Clay Clark, an amazing group of individuals that have made such a difference in so many people’s lives. You want to increase your production in a job? You want to make more sales? You want to own your own business? Do you want to have breakthroughs financially? The key to that is knowledge. Clay Clark is anointed to help people in business. We’ve watched him over the last couple of years and we’ve been blown away. He is part owner of over 160 businesses. 2.4 billion dollars in sales. Before politics and the great reset came into Clay’s life he had the number one rated Apple podcast and he interviewed people like Anthony Robbins, Seth Godin, the top authors, top business minds in the world. At this specific event there was an interesting cast of characters that come from gangs to American Idol. Some of the guests that are going to be there Levine, Colton Dixon, Peter Taunton, John Lee Dumas, Mando De La Viga. And Tim Tebow. They’re there to share what they’ve done and their breakthroughs and what their story is, and then Clay lays his map of business success, calls the path for every person to follow. The conference is kicked off, this house is packed. We’ve got Aaron Antic with Sean Williams up there. We’ve got Steve Murray and Tim Toto with the concepts up there. We’re talking about what is possible when you just implement, when you implement, when you do the program. It’s so exciting. People are going crazy. We just wrapped up day one. It was incredible. We had some remarkable speakers. Michael Levine. We just finished with a lady named Jill Donovan, who owns a company called Rustic Cuff, talking about the power of the Dream 100. I cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds. Hey guys, Luke Erickson with the Thrive Time Show here with you. It is day two and the energy is high. People are so excited to be showing up. The team is ready. Come on, let’s see what it’s like to go on in for day two. Follow me. I’ll tell you what, people are so excited to be here for day two. It is going to be incredible. Cannot wait to see what today has in store. It’s going to be incredible. Cannot wait to see what today has in store. Right now, here at the conference, we’ve broken into groups going over search engine optimization. I know for most of us, myself included, if you hear that term, you go, what is that? What does that mean? That’s too techy for me. Well, our experts are breaking it down for people so that you can clearly understand how to come up top in Google. It’s doable. It’s possible. Now we’re in the middle of a break and what we like to do is we like to give you as much tangible and relevant information from about the start of the hour for 45 minutes. Then we take approximately a 15 minute break to allow people to connect with other entrepreneurs around them. and also use this time to just really digest all of the good information that you’re receiving the whole time. Right behind me we’ve got Bob with his grill gun, melting an ice sculpture. It is awesome. The ice sculpture represents our life, right? It’s here for a time, but we all need to have the sense of urgency to implement the things that we’re learning so that we can make the most of the time that we have. We are outside, you can see a line behind me. What’s going on is that we partner with different companies to help them implement the proven systems over and over and over again. And one of those companies is Master Machine. And so what we like to do is partner with these companies to also help them give samples to other people as they come to the conference and truly get their name out. I just wanted to recap some of the amazing things that have happened today. We’ve had entrepreneurs like Paul Hood with good CPAs. We’ve had Jill Donovan and Michael Levine come up. It just imparts so much wisdom and knowledge. We’ve got an incredible giveaway for one of our teamies. Hey there Thrive Nation. One of the things that we love about Thrive Nation is that we have a lot of people that are really passionate about what we do. We have a lot of people that are really passionate about what we do. We have a lot of people that are really passionate about what we do. We have a lot of people that are really passionate about what we do. Hey there Thrive Nation, one of the things that we love most about our business conferences is that we want every entrepreneur to leave with their questions answered. So what we do is we let them put the questions up on the board here so that they can ask their specific questions and Clay will not end the conference until every question is answered. Behind this, Clay Kilar continues answering all the different questions that entrepreneurs have brought to the conference. Whenever someone comes here and starts to hear this information, especially for the first time, it just brings about so much anticipation of wanting to actually implement the proven systems and processes. And so Clay always wants to make sure that he answers all of the questions so that they’re the most set up for the business to be able to go home and start implementing. Do you have any questions? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them. I’m going to go home and start implementing. If you have any questions, email us at info at thrive timeshare.com. Hello, I’m Wes Carter. I’m one of the shareholders at Winters & King. My favorite thing that Thrive has helped me accomplish here in our firm is thinking a little bit outside the box. They do SEO, they do printing, they help us with a lot of things that as attorneys we probably wouldn’t normally think of that help us market our services to our clients. One of the things I love about working with Thrive is that they make it enjoyable to actually do work with them. It’s not dry, it’s usually fun, but it’s always very enjoyable and practical. They give me things and ideas that I can put into place. It’s not just some theoretical spiel that they give me. We get practical steps that we work on together to do my job better. So me personally, I would easily recommend Thrive 15 services to my friends, my families. I’d recommend them to my clients. I think they do a good job, they’re passionate, they care about their clients and I think it’s actually a valuable service they provide to people that are in the business world. My name is Jeff Thomas. I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia. It’s all about getting to the grindstone. It is about putting the, it’s one thing to have a specific vision or a dream, but knowledge without application isn’t knowledge at all. That’s nothing. It’s really funny. The atmosphere is very lively. Everybody that is working for Clay is very upbeat and not tired, not sluggish, not complaining, not whining. They don’t have anything to do with those types of characteristics. It’s all about getting to the grind and having fun while you do it. I haven’t actually been to any conferences in the past, but what I will say from what I’ve seen on YouTube and what from other friends have told me is this isn’t like a motivational kind of thing, such as hoo-hoo, rah-rah, get you motivated. But it’s like practical steps that if you do take them, which most people aren’t willing to do, then you will grow, and you’ll achieve the specific things that you want. Well, for one thing, I will say that this isn’t necessarily for everyone, so if you’re not willing to work, this isn’t for you. But I will say that if you are willing to work and you know you’re just getting started, but you have actually taken a step in that direction, then this will actually help you grow further exponentially than you could ever imagine. My name is Taylor Hall. I’m the general manager of the Tulsa Oilers professional hockey team. You know, our goal every night here at the BOK Center is to try to fill the seats with lots of people and create an exciting environment so when somebody comes to a game, they want to come back. Working with Clay and the staff at Thrive, they’ve really helped us in many, many ways. Website and graphic design and video production and a lot of things that go along. And a lot of businesses, including ours, doesn’t have a staff or a full-time videographer or graphic designer. But the biggest thing that we noticed was the needle mover. More sales, more attendance, more successes in business. We had a record year last season working with Clay for the first time. Our average attendance is higher than it’s ever been. So there’s a lot of really cool things that we did and they worked. That’s the nice thing about working with Clay and the team over there. It’s just not one person, you get the entire team. If you need video design and editing and production, they’ve got that. If you need graphic design, if you need some coaching, your sales people and call scripts, PR, they offer all that. Clay was instrumental in helping guiding us and getting us on the right track so that we could really raise the bar and become ultra successful. So it’s been an amazing experience for us. My name is Kaitlin. I own a tumbling gym called Justice Tumbling Companies. We call them. Working with Clay is so helpful. The diligence and everything and making sure we execute our goals and really make things happen. It’s fun, it’s tight, it really gets you energized and going. It makes you really want to work. To get the momentum going, to really just get that buzz, really give you the energy to get up and make it happen. I’m Bob Healy. I’m in the charcoal grilling industry and the name of my business is Grillblazer. How will I apply what I’ve learned so far into my business? I’m actually a client of the Rite 15 and I learned so much from what I’m learning at this conference and from my regular weekly attendance that it’s helping me establish the business and get it off the ground. Clay’s presentation style is just Clayton disregard for what anybody wants. He just has fun, it’s him, everything that you see is authentically Clay. It’s a great deal of fun, everybody enjoys it. They know when you walk in they think they’re coming into a carnival, and frankly they are, it’s just great fun. There’s not another conference like it. You don’t go to a carnival atmosphere and learn what to do here at the Pride Conference. It’s great. The reason people should attend at least one of these conferences is because it’s common sense. And everybody’s fed an entire line about the way you should run a business, but until you actually experience running a business, which is, candidly, what you learn here, how to run a business, you don’t know what you’re doing. My name is Tyler Hastings and this is my wife, Rachel, and our company is Delricht Research out of New Orleans. During our time working with Thrive, we’ve had numerous successes. When we first started, we were working with one physician, we had one research site, and we were seeing on average, you know, between 10 and 15 patients a week. Since working with Thrive in the last 18 months, we now have four research sites. We work with over five physicians, and on average we’re now seeing over 60 patients per week. Recently we’ve been the top enroller worldwide in seven studies, which is just incredible considering where we were two years ago, 18 months ago. Thrive really differs from the other conferences that we’ve been to and the other kind of programs that we’ve been through because they actually really practice what they preach and they implement the same systems and the processes that they teach you about and they give you real-life examples that it really worked for them and show you with the training how to implement that yourself. For example, Tyler and I actually got the opportunity to come out to Tulsa and we’re fortunate enough that the Thrive team took us out to some of the businesses that they own and we really got to see in real life, real time, some of the systems and processes and it was just incredible. A real life example of some of the businesses and the things that they’re implementing. Having a coach is important to us. They act as not only an accountability factor, but they’re someone we can talk to on a daily basis as we go through the problems of running a business that inevitably come up. They always understand what we’re going through and they’re always there to help us or guide us through the problems that we experience. The best part of our experience working with Thrive has just been seeing our relationship grow. So at each step as our business grows, they have something else to provide us with. They’ve got the resources, whether it be marketing, graphic design, website development, or even in accounting practices, maybe we need a new insurance policy. If they have someone they can connect us with or they have the direct resource we need to speak with for any of the problems we face. If someone is thinking about signing up for the coaching program, I would highly recommend that they call in for a free 30-minute coaching session and see exactly what the team can do for you. Just speak with someone. Let them know what you’re going through. And I think you’ll find that, regardless of what you need, there’s someone there that can help you. Clay’s presentation style, it’s very real and raw. Like it just gets real down to the bone of it and the real purpose of it. There’s no like fluffy vagueness about it, you know. So, he really gets to the point. I’m always reminded about how important it is to be intentional and to really pay attention to how you schedule your time and really honor it. Because whatever gets scheduled gets done. That’s what he said from Lee Copperl. So, just constantly hearing that and getting reminded Helps me to reinforce that in my own life. It always helps to get an outside perspective My name is Nick Guajardo, I heard about the thrive time show workshop through Andy Matherin he is my, Andy Mathren and Larry Montgomery, they’re my bosses at Restore Home Health. So I work with a home health company called Restore Home Health, and my role is pretty much to bring in business. So I was hoping to learn kind of the sales process on top of just kind of the responsibilities and help understand what it looks like on the SEO side and just kind of an all-around what it looks like to own a business because that’s something I want to do in the future for sure. How I would describe the atmosphere here at Thrive is high energy, great professionalism, great people, it’s just it’s a place you definitely want to visit and be at. one of his MDF. Plays delivery style, humorous, professional, hilarious. Just he does it, I haven’t seen someone do it better. So he does a great job. Most valuable thing I’ve learned so far, a lot of it has been extremely valuable. So, but one thing that’s always really stuck out to me is the SEO, learning the SEO stuff. I mean that is I think things things you don’t Really even think about and then you hear it and you think you know it, but you don’t know it So I feel like that was the most valuable. Well, they’re listening on they’re missing out on Just what comes down to just bait basic applications to be a business owner I mean, I feel like it’s like an absolute necessity, you know to come here and learn The the ins and outs and maybe come here once or twice if they take good notes, that kind of thing. Why? So just, it’s the experience here and what you can learn, like absolutely. So marketing and SEO seemed like something that would be very scary, but then in the way that Clay and his team described it, it became very clear and concise and something that’s very accessible to any business owner. I’ve learned a lot about marketing at this conference, and a lot about business management and HR. Really everything, the key components of anybody’s business, they’re going to give you the best tools to be successful at it. So most workshops or conferences can be really boring, really one note, or they just seem so theatrical that it’s a joke, and it’s not even giving you the tools that you need, or that you came there for. But here, it’s still high energy, it’s still fun, everything’s to the point, but it’s very professional. And yeah, you’re missing out on easy steps to use in your business that are very accessible and very clear. My name is Abigail McCarter. The best thing I’ve learned so far is definitely organization, schedule-wise, always keeping a to-do list, keeping your calendar organized. I’m kind of all over the place so that’s always good to know. So, Clay’s presentation style and the atmosphere is electric. It’s so energetic, it’s so fun, Clay’s hilarious, but also knows a ton, so it’s just really great all around. This conference is much different than any other conference I’ve gone to. Again, because it’s fun. Like a lot of other conferences, it’s like really quiet, really cold, and you just kind of get bored. But this one, you’re like always engaged, you’re always learning something, and the staff is amazing. They’re always super helpful, so it’s just been really great. My name’s Clint Howell. We’re a personal training and fitness training facility. Oh wow, I’m learning a ton. Like this morning so far has been search engine optimization. So really just the importance of being at the top of Google, how Google works, and why it’s so important to go out and get video reviews and testimonials and getting Google reviews. And so all those things we can take back and really apply that immediately. So it’s really cool to see not only how to do it, but really the relevance and importance of it in the long-term strategy. It’s amazing, actually, the way in this morning and yesterday, I was videoing as I was walking in the front entrance. And actually, me, I go to a lot of seminars, I go to a lot of conferences, massive ones. I’ve been doing that since I was like 22 years old, so gosh, almost 20 years now. And this is by far the most entertaining, not only the content, the content is amazing, but Clay and you guys do a great job. It makes it a lot more fun to watch. I mean, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m not going to lie, I’m Not only the content, the content is amazing, but Clay and you guys do a great job mixing in entertainment where it’s fun, it’s fresh, it’s lively, you never get bored. I heard a study one time that the reason that children learn so much quicker is because it’s fun, learning is fun. So I would say Clay is nailed that, where it’s very fun to be here and keeps you awake, keeps you energized, so I’m having a blast. Yeah, I think any business owner or someone that wants to own a business or considering owning and starting a business should definitely come. I know that I was referred here by friends of mine and clients of mine and I’ve referred other people. Again, just to understand what it takes to make a business successful, to have a good time, obviously, like I was just saying, have fun, and network. There’s a lot of people here you can learn from and there’s a lot of breaks you can talk to other people. So I think this is a must-attend treaty by the whole business for the ones that are starting this. My name is Jamie Fagel, I’m with Jameson Fine Cabinetry. I heard about the conference through Andrew, he’s the coach that I deal with here at Thrive. The most valuable piece I found even working with Andrew, but it’s been solidified when it came here, was you’ve got to actually do the things that they’re telling you. With no action, you’re not going to get anything from it. I would highly recommend this to almost anybody in business today. I have recommended to some of my other business partners. It’s phenomenal. It’s really something that if you want to start a business the old way of doing things is gone. This is what you got to do. It’s the only way it’ll work. Hey this is Charles and Amber Kola. We’re the owners of Kola Fitness. The way we’re able to do that is working with Clay for the last three years he has really readjusted our thinking and taught us that our business is here to serve us and by doing that we’re able to live the lifestyle we want and take off on a random vacation last minute. We had totally planned on being at the conference so wish we could be there and meet all of you. We know you’re having a great time. Yes, Clay in the last three years has helped us build all the necessary systems, checklists, workflows, task lists, time blocks, audits that are always running and the right capable lieutenants to keep track of all that so that you too can get time freedom, financial freedom and that’s what we have done and Clay has helped us do. We’ve got multiple companies in multiple states and they’re all doing very well, getting ready to go to more locations in this next year and Kola Fitness has a really big future. We’re teaming up with a couple other groups and we should scale the company here shortly. Hopefully we’ll open like 50 locations in the next 10 years. So, but yeah, we’re on the way. We’re going to probably more than double our company, maybe triple our company in the next eight to nine months. And it’s just awesome. God is working in our business and we’re making Jesus and changing lives. We’re a strong Christian company that focuses on making Jesus famous and changing lives in the fitness field. And this is Charles and Amber Koloff. Thank you Thrive. Hit your action items. We love you guys. We wish you were there. You guys have a wonderful day. Bye bye. My name is Jennifer Johnson. I’m in the pest control industry and also weed control fertilization and my business is Platinum Pest and Lawn. Some of the things that, I’ll be able to apply a lot of the things that I’ve learned in our business because this is not my first conference and so a lot of the things that we learned in our business is not going to be applied to our business. So I’m going to be able to apply a lot of the things that I’ve learned in our business because this is not my first conference and so a lot of the things that we learned in our business is not going to be applied to our business. So I’m going to be able to apply a lot of the things that I’ve learned in our business because this is not my first conference and so a lot of the things that we learned in our business is not going to be applied to our business. And so a lot of the things that we learned we’ve put into place and now we’re doing the next level of refining the processes for just a different concept. And so it’s getting better and better. Things that were just big processes before, we have the foundation laid and now we’re able to make it better and better. And I’m hearing different things now that we’ve implemented things and so we can just make it even better implementations in our own business. Clay’s presentation and the atmosphere is very exciting and fun. It keeps you awake. It makes it interesting. You have a lot of information, but if it’s not going to be entertaining, your brain is going to tune it out. But Clay makes it just entertaining enough that you retain what you learn. Lots of writing and catchy things so that you remember stuff. What makes it different? Something that makes this conference different than other workshops or conferences that I’ve been to is that there’s a lot of people here in my same situation. We’re all, most of us are pretty small businesses wanting to improve, and we want real life information and something that will work and that’s attainable and not just some crazy magic formula but actual action items that we can implement in our business and actually see a difference. Everyone should attend a DriveType business conference whether you’re a business owner or not. A, if you’re a business owner, it has practical applications that you can apply to so many different parts of your business and then you need to come back for more so that you can keep doing more of the wonderful things that you learn. But secondly, I am also a mom of three kids and a lot of the concepts can actually be applied to home, like getting routines and getting, setting systems at home has just seriously made a huge difference in my life at home. And so that’s why everyone should come, no matter what your station is in life. My name is Nolan Q. I’m originally from San Francisco, California. The industry that I’m in is financial services. I’ve learned a ton so far, but what I can best apply from this conference is the opportunity, that hunger to go out there and make a big difference in my industry. Clay’s presentation style is amazing. You’ve got an endless amount of energy. It’s contagious. And by being here, I really do want to go back and be able to face all the adversity that the industry has. Yeah, this conference, the thing that makes it different is that it’s special because it has a unique set of individuals that all share that same energy. I think he picked it as dragon energy, but yeah, that’s the case. Everyone should come to multiple, but their first would be very special. Yeah, you’re welcome with a lot of enthusiasm. That’ll last for a long time. My name is Gabriela Cruz. Our business is PCS Electric. My husband’s the owner, but I’m involved with that, and so we’re a electric company. Well, here at the conference, they talk a lot about consistency, and so just staying consistent with different things in the business. I feel like applying that to our business model will really help us grow. The atmosphere is very positive, uplifting, and then it’s very fun and energetic. And so it gets you pumped and it gets you excited and it encourages you to do big things. I probably how real they are. They tell you up front what you need to do and what’s like a no-go and some conferences are they kind of sugarcoat things so I like how real they are here. I think it’ll definitely if you want your business to grow I think this would be a great a great experience and then not only that it’ll encourage you and inform you on so many things you don’t think about on a daily basis. Hey I’m Ryan Wimpey I’m originally from Tulsa, born and raised here. I’ve definitely learned a lot about life design and making sure the business serves you. The linear workflow, the linear workflow for us in getting everything out on paper and documented is really important. We have workflows that are kind of all over the place, so having linear workflow and seeing that mapped out on multiple different boards is pretty awesome. Play is hilarious. I literally laughed so hard that I started having tears yesterday. And we’ve been learning a lot, which, you know, we’ve been sitting here, we’ve been learning a lot, and so the humor definitely helps. It breaks it up. But the content is awesome, off the charts, and it’s very interactive. You can raise your hand. It’s not like you’re just listening to the professor speak, you know. The wizard teaches, but the wizard interacts and he takes questions, so that’s awesome. If you’re not attending the conference, you’re missing about three quarters to half of your life. You’re definitely, it’s probably worth a couple thousand dollars. So you’re missing the thought process of someone that’s already started like nine profitable businesses. So not only is it a lot of good information, but just getting in the thought process of Clay Clark or Dr. Zellner or any of the other coaches, getting in the thought process of how they’re starting all these businesses, to me just that is priceless. That’s money. Well we’re definitely not getting upsold here. My wife and I have attended conferences where they upsold us great information and then they upsold us like half the conference. Now I don’t want to like bang my head into a wall and she’s like banging her head into the chair in front of her like it’s good information but we’re like oh my gosh I want to strangle you shut up and go with the presentation that we paid for and that’s not here there’s no upsells or anything so that’s awesome I hate that that makes me angry so glad that’s not happening so the cost of this conference is quite a bit cheaper than business college I went to a small private liberal arts college and got a degree in business and I didn’t learn anything Like they’re teaching here. I didn’t learn linear workflows I learned stuff that I’m not using and I haven’t been using for the last nine years So what they’re teaching here is actually way Better than what I got at business school and I went what was actually ranked as a very good business school I would definitely recommend that people check out the Thrive 15 conference. The information that you’re going to get is just very, very beneficial and the mindset that you’re going to get, that you’re going to leave with is just absolutely worth the price of a little bit of money and a few days worth of your time. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9 and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys. We appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. Right? This is where we used to live. Here you go. This is our old neighborhood. See? It’s nice, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing and this is our old team. And by team, I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing, and this is our new team. We went from four to fourteen, and I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome but Ryan is a really great salesman so we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place we’ve gone from one to ten locations in only a year. In October 2016 we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd. We’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business that we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you, thank you, thank you, times a thousand. So we really just want to thank you, Clay, and thank you, Vanessa, for everything you’ve done, everything you’ve helped us with. We love you guys. Hello, my name is Charles Colaw with Colaw Fitness. Today I want to tell you a little bit about Clay Clark and how I know Clay Clark. Clay Clark has been my business coach since 2017. He’s helped us grow from two locations to now six locations. We’re planning to do seven locations in seven years and then franchise. And Clay’s done a great job of helping us navigate anything that has to do with running the business, building the systems, the checklists, the workflows, the audits, how to navigate lease agreements, how to buy property, how to work with brokers and builders. This guy is just amazing. This kind of guy has worked in every single industry. He’s written books with Lee Crockrell, head of Disney with the 40,000 cast members. He’s friends with Mike Lindell. He does Reawaken America tours where he does these tours all across the country where 10,000 or more people show up to some of these tours on the day-to-day. He does anywhere from about 160 companies. He’s at the top. He has a team of business coaches, videographers, and graphic designers, and web developers, and they run 160 companies every single week. So think of this guy with a team of business coaches running 160 companies. So in the weekly, he’s running 160 companies. Every six to eight weeks, he’s doing Reawaken America tours. Every six to eight weeks, he’s also doing business conferences where 200 people show up and he teaches people a 13-step proven system that he’s done and worked with billionaires helping them grow their companies. So I’ve seen guys from startups go from startup to being multi-millionaires, teaching people how to get time freedom and financial freedom through the system. Critical thinking, document creation, making it, putting it into, organizing everything in their head to building it into a franchisable, scalable business. One of his businesses has like 500 franchises. That’s just one of the companies or brands that he works with. Amazing guy, Elon Musk, kind of like smart guy. He kind of comes off sometimes as socially awkward, but he’s so brilliant and he’s taught me so much. When I say that, Clay is like, he doesn’t care what people think when you’re talking to him. He cares about where you’re going in your life and where he can get you to go. And that’s what I like him most about him. He’s like a good coach. A coach isn’t just making you feel good all the time. A coach is actually helping you get to the best you. And Clay has been an amazing business coach. Through the course of that we became friends. I was really most impressed with him is when I was shadowing him one time. We went into a business deal and listened to it. I got to shadow and listen to it and when we walked out I knew that he could make millions on the deal and they were super excited about working with him. He told me he’s like, I’m not going to touch it, I’m going to turn it down because he knew it was going to harm the common good of people in the long run. The guy’s integrity just really wowed me. It brought tears to my eyes to see that this guy, his highest desire was to do what’s right. Anyways, just an amazing man. Anyways, impacted me a lot. He’s helped navigate. Anytime I’ve gotten nervous or worried about how to run the company or navigating competition and an economy that’s like I remember we got closed down for three months. He helped us navigate on how to stay open, how to how to get back open, how to just survive through all the COVID shutdowns, lockdowns because our clubs were all closed for three months and you have $350,000 of bills you’ve got to pay and we have no accounts receivable. He helped us navigate that and of course we were conservative enough that we could afford to take that on for a period of time. But he was a great man. I’m very impressed with him. So Clay, thank you for everything you’re doing and I encourage you if you haven’t ever worked with Clay, work with Clay. He’s going to help magnify you and there’s nobody I have ever met that has the ability to work as hard as he does. He probably sleeps for maybe six hours a day and literally the rest of time he’s working and he can outwork everybody in the room every single day and and he loves it. So anyways this is Charles Kola with Kola Fitness. Thank you Clay and anybody out there that’s wanting to work with Clay it’s a great great opportunity to ever work with him. So you guys have a blessed one. This is Charles Kola. We’ll see you guys. Bye bye. Hi I’m Aaron Antus with Shaw Homes. I first heard about Clay through a mortgage lender here in town who had told me what a great job he had been doing for them and I actually noticed he was driving a Lamborghini all of a sudden so I was willing to listen. In my career I’ve sold a little over 800 million dollars in real estate. So honestly I thought I kind of knew and Holmes, and then I met Clay, and my perception of what I knew and what I could do definitely changed. After doing $800 million in sales over a 15-year career, I really thought I knew what I was doing. I’ve been managing a large team of salespeople for the last 10 years here with Shaw Holmes, and we’ve been a company that’s been in business for 35 years. We’ve become one of the largest builders in the Tulsa area, and that was without Clay. So when I came to know Clay, I really thought, man, there’s not much more I need to know, but I’m willing to listen. The interesting thing is our internet leads from our website has actually in a four-month period of time has gone from somewhere around 10 to 15 leads in a month to 180 internet leads in a month. Just from the few things that he’s shown us how to implement that I honestly probably never would have come up with on my own. So I got a lot of good things to say about the system that Clay put in place with us and it’s just been an incredible experience. I am very glad that we met and had the opportunity to work with Clay. So the interaction with the team and with Clay on a weekly basis is honestly very enlightening. One of the things that I love about Clay’s perspective on things is that he doesn’t come from my industry. He’s not somebody who’s in the home building industry. I’ve listened to all the experts in my field. Our company has paid for me to go to seminars, international builder shows, all kinds of places where I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the experts in my industry. But the thing that I found working with Clay is that he comes from such a broad spectrum of working with so many different types of businesses that he has a perspective that’s difficult for me to gain because I get so entrenched in what I do, I’m not paying attention to what other leading industry experts are doing. And Clay really brings that perspective for me. It is very valuable time every week when I get that hour with him. From my perspective, the reason that any business owner who’s thinking about hooking up with Thrive needs to definitely consider it is because the results that we’ve gotten in a very short period of time are honestly monumental. It has really exceeded my wildest expectation of what he might be able to do. I came in skeptical because I’m very pragmatic and as I’ve gone through the process over just a few months, I’ve realized it’s probably one of the best moves we’ve ever made. I think a lot of people probably feel like they don’t need a business or marketing consultant because they maybe are a little bit prideful and like to think they know everything. I know that’s how I felt coming in. I mean, we’re a big company that’s definitely one of the largest in town. And so we kind of felt like we knew what we were doing. And I think for a lot of people they let their ego get in the way of listening to somebody that might have a better or different perspective than theirs. I would just really encourage you if you’re thinking about working with Clay, I mean the thing is it’s month to month. Go give it a try and see what happens. I think in the 35-year history of Shaw Homes this is probably the best thing that’s happened to us And I know if you give them a shot, I think you’ll feel the same way I know for me the thing I would have missed out on if I didn’t work with clay is I would have missed out on literally an 1800 percent increase in our internet leads going from 10 a month to 180 a month, that would have been a huge financial decision to just decide not to give it a shot. I would absolutely recommend Clay Clark to anybody who’s thinking about working with somebody in marketing. I would skip over anybody else you were thinking about and I would go straight to Clay and his team. I guarantee you’re not going to regret it because we sure haven’t. My name is Danielle Sprick and I am the founder of D. Sprick Realty Group here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After being a stay-at-home mom for 12 years and my three kids started school and they were in school full-time, I was at a crossroads and trying to decide what do I want to do? My degree and my background is in education, but after being a mom and staying home and all of that, I just didn’t have a passion for it like I once did. My husband suggested real estate. He’s a home builder, so real estate and home building go hand in hand, and we just rolled with it. I love the building relationships. But one thing that was really difficult for me was the business side of things. The processes and the advertising and marketing. I knew that I did not have what I needed to make that what it should be. So I reached out to Clay at that time. He and his team have been extremely instrumental in helping us build our brand, help market our business, our agents, the homes that we represent. Everything that we do is a direct line from Clay and his team and all that they’ve done for us. We launched our brokerage, our real estate brokerage, eight months ago. In that time, we’ve gone from myself and one other agent to just this week we signed on In that time, we’ve gone from myself and one other agent to just this week we signed on our 16th agent.
