Get ready to enter the Thrivetime Show! We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom and we’ll show you how to get here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re on the top. Teaching you the systems to get what we got. Cullen Dixon’s on the hooks, I’ve written the books. He’s bringing some wisdom and the good looks. As the father of five, that’s what I’ma dive. So if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi. It’s C and Z up on your radio. And now 3, 2, 1, here we go. We started from the bottom, now we hit it. Started from the bottom, and that’s what you gotta do. Rachel, we are talking today about the art of the thank you and sending five foot blow up alligators. But before we start, I want to thank you for being here, my friend. Thank you. And I want to give the Thrivers out there a little bit of an introduction into you and what you do. If they were to go on to www.handmadecharlotte.com, what kind of awesomeness would they find? Handmade Charlotte is an online family publication that gives creative experience to families every day, all day long. And how many millions of people, I mean are you reaching millions of people a year or thousands? We are reaching tens of millions of people every single month. And your products, if I want to go buy one of your products, if I say I love this lady, I want to go buy her stuff. Where can I find your stuff? and all of the major big box craft retail, AC Moore, and then small boutiques as well. If you live in the continental U.S. and you enjoy this episode. And Canada, and Europe. And Canada, and Europe. If you live on the planet, you need to go in there and just check out some of her products. They are awesome, neat, neat things you can do, a lot of do-it-yourself projects. What makes you so passionate about that, by the way, before we get going? Why are you so passionate about do-it-yourself projects? Well, I started out, I’m an idea generator, Clay. So, and every single idea that came to my head, I couldn’t completely focus on and manufacture that product. So, when I decided that I could give every single one of my ideas for free, away for free through DIY, and taking things and really giving families a hands-on experience with these products that I was creating and just showing them how to make them themselves was a big turning point for us. Now, you have this phrase called, send five-foot blow-up alligators. I’m going to read just one notable quotable to kind of warm us up to the idea. But Stephen Covey, the best-selling author, this guy writes some great stuff, he has some great audio books. He said that, trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships. How does sending a five-foot blow-up alligator help build some trust? Or what are you talking about when you say sending a five-foot alligator? What does that mean? We actually do send up, we send actually five-foot blow-up alligators and killer whales and gigantic beach balls and all of those things. I’m super lucky because I’m a kids brand and we can be as silly as we want. But I am super grateful for the work that comes in and the companies that I get to work with and the individuals that are behind those brands and all the hard work that I know that they’re going through to make sure that we also get these opportunities and time. And so I love to thank people. And so I love to also with that thank you make a big impact. So I will send something insane that they will most likely have never been sent before. And I just feel like it’s one of a key to our successes and I love doing it. They’re silly, I love doing those things. And they definitely work and we definitely get work with them and we get recommendations and we start building this like a relationship. And I think it’s super important to thank people think people that have, you know, given you work, for sure. Or, you know, potential people, but mainly, you know, think people. And it doesn’t have to be a brand that’s, like, given you work, but anybody that has done something for you. Can I ask you this here? I mean, you have this attitude of gratitude where you really do want to thank people and be, but just say that I’m looking at this pragmatically though, and I’m going, well, it’s like $50 to mail the alligator and it’s five feet long, so it’s probably $150 to mail it, and that’s by mail. Does it financially make sense for you to mail these five-foot alligators? It does, and my husband was trying to convince me to deflate the alligator because the shipping would be much cheaper. The box and the shipping, but you cannot deflate. You cannot deflate an alligator. So that, I would say that alligator that I send, so I, you know, obviously those thank yous, that’s budgeted into our budget, and you have to decide what’s right for you and what’s in your budget, but I often see at least 10 times a return on every single one of those alligators. Could you give me a story about one thank you you did that was particularly epic, maybe, where you thought, this is gonna be great, and then you got a reaction that was pretty great. So, I was able to go meet, I had read, actually, Googling yourself is a really good idea. Is it? Yeah, you have just like no idea, especially, you know, a lot of celebrities will say, I never Google myself, but when you’re like absolutely not a celebrity or have not done that much to garner articles constantly. So I Googled myself or Handmade Charlotte or something, maybe Handmade Charlotte, and it popped up that the creative director of J.Crew, Crew Cuts, Jenny Cooper, had said that the starting place for her on the internet was Handmade Charlotte. Whoa. So, so I saw that and I was like, OK, that’s amazing. And she profiled her life and her and it was in another public online publication. And so I, I contacted her and I set up a meeting. So I was in New York and I showed up and I had shipped myself, and my husband was actually with me, a pair of eight foot pencil, number two pencil stilts that I made. They’re eight feet tall, octagon, they’re so cool. And you’ll see them in other videos. But so I showed up with those at the headquarters and they wanted me to get there at like, I mean it was like early in the morning and Mixing Mickey Drexler was actually, you know doing his famous over the PA Announcements who’s Mickey Drexler just so we get signed to you. He’s the CEO of J crew. Okay and pioneer of building brands and He went over to gap and then went back over but definitely on Steve Jobs and you know mentor and so incredible guy. And so I don’t know him personally, but I just read a lot about him. So I was sitting in the office and Jenna Lyons, who’s the president, and I’m a huge, incredible fan of Jenna Lyons, as well as Jenny Cooper, and I was in the offices every, all of the staff was coming in and all the employees were coming in and I had these stilts and Jenna lines like, like, what is that? Like, what is going on over there? And I went down into the crew cuts, got escorted down to their offices and presented them to Jenny Cooper. And I can call her anytime she sent me pictures of her kids with them. She asked me not to ever put up a list of those on the internet with these stilts and she said it was the coolest gift she’d ever gotten. And I can email her any time with any question, any time, because she knew that I went out of the way to think about her and knew how valuable her time was to give to me. And I presented her with something so special. Let me ask you, as far as an action step, because you said something a minute ago that was profound to me and you might have not heard yourself talk about this profound stuff, but you were talking about how you budget in for it. You budget for it. Sure. Which means that you planned on doing it, which means you’re intentional about building relationships. You’re actually saying, I am going to budget in these gifts, these thank yous, these items, these, and I love that you’re doing that. For each and every project. So I know that if I create a DIY for French’s mustard, they are going to get either, like right now, I think last week we sent out all of the printables that we created for that, for the marketing, the PR agency that got us that work. Truth cannon real quick. Do you believe that we should all be sending thank you gifts to our clients? Yes. 100%. If we’re not, what are we doing? It’s just a mistake. I think that you’re missing opportunities there and you know I think that people want to work with people that are you know are thankful for all the work they’re doing on there and just because we don’t see them on that side I mean they’re working hard to make your company bigger and better and financially successful. So that’s amazing. Of course you’re going to thank them. I’m not disagreeing with you and so I don’t want you get mad at me. I’m just saying if I’m on the other end of this camera over here and I’m saying well I don’t think I have the budget to send thank-you gifts you would say? I would say that you can probably afford a stamp and you could send, you could cut up a bunch of different color pieces of paper and this is like totally off the cuff and stick it in that paper and say, you know, like, thank you so much. We’re celebrating, you know, so we celebrate this relationship and we hope to party on next time. Like, it’s an incentive. Yeah, but I mean, you’re just gonna be resourceful. It’s not about the resources, it’s about being resourceful. Right, like if you’re not, you know, if you’re not, if you don’t have a wood shop or if you don’t have whatever, you know, these crazy things that we send, they get bigger. But even the small things, like as we know, the small things matter. Gotta say something funny. A lot of the Thrivers I’ve interviewed, a lot of the top entrepreneurs, some of the most wealthy and successful people across the country, they have sent a ton of handwritten notes to the office. And I am blown away that somebody, and I realized, I pulled one of them aside, and I said, you sent me a handwritten note. This will forever be up on my wall. And he says, that’s how you get to the top, is you send handwritten notes. And I just, totally had an idea that you would not send handwritten notes when you get to the top, that’s how you get to the top, and then you keep doing it to stay on top. I just love that whole attitude of gratitude. I love that. Oh, sure. It’s phenomenal. Sure. If you’re watching this, we all have some thank yous to write. We probably should just start writing them right now. We probably need to just get caught up there. We actually scheduled out in our calendar. So I wanted to do every other, every week. And we actually, every single project, because we send out so much, is that we do it every other, every other week. Because that was getting left behind. And so I found a couple of months where we weren’t really sending out packages because we had so much work. And so now it’s actually on the calendar, has a day, like it has a day and a time. And again, what I love about Rachel is that you are energetic, you’re enthusiastic, you’re a creative, but you’re a doer. And these creative ideas that don’t get done aren’t worth anything. Right, yeah, they’re worth nothing. An idea without action is zilcho. Zilcho, we’ll leave you with that. Hey, I appreciate you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Dr. Z. Hey, Clay. Hey, awesome to see you, my friend. Always a pleasure to be around you. I usually enjoy when our encounters involve a candle here and then some large chairs. Yes, yes. There’s a certain glow here’s a rich my other and the it’s it’s incredible I feel like we’re in a castle here so here we go we’re gonna get into we’re talking about the balancing act about faith family finances relationship and a your physical body oh my gosh balance a great success secrets of life so doctors a rumor has it that you own and invest in at least one company is this true that that would be true and I have five startups that I started up that I own and then I Own a piece of or advise or a part of about five others So so strong rumor you also have a incredible wife of 30 years who just turned 32 weird deal I do the math. It’s kind of yeah, it is weird. It’s hard to figure that out But you just it’s a 30 years you’ve been married though. Yes, three kids. Yes Okay, so let’s be real. When you started your first business, take us back in time, you’re kind of financially struggling, you’re living below your means. Is there a time that you ever thought you wouldn’t make it? No, you know, I mean, I, there were maybe times that I questioned what I was doing, you know, you know, whenever you know you’re really an entrepreneur at in your heart, you know that that’s your that’s your make and model that your DNA, working for other people can be challenging. Because you know, you’re kind of going, man, I wouldn’t do it this way, or I do it that way, or, or he’s an idiot, or that’s not good, or, you know, as you go through it, so you look at you go this, what am I doing? What am I doing? I remember? Oh, yes, I’m doing this because I have no money, and this is a job, and that’s how you make money. So you get a job, you live below your means. Crazy. You’re basically, but you’re financially in a tough spot. Absolutely. Now Jack Welch. I’m out of college, yeah, no money, grew up poor, so I mean, yeah, I’m sitting there just scratching and clawing. I love that you love Jack Welch, and I’m going to read you one of his quotes. For those of you who don’t know, Jack Welch is one of the top CEOs of all time. This guy took over GE when they were just sort of floundering and then he took it to the next level. Unbelievable. And he says this, there’s no such thing as work-life balance. There are work-life choices and you make them and they have consequences. Absolutely. You agree with that? Yes. Just the other day I had a young couple in here that I’ve been kind of mentoring and coaching on. And we’ve been buying and flipping homes and doing some other stuff. And so he asked me the question that most young or a lot of young men that I mentor ask me, they go, when do you know you’ve worked too much? When do you know that you need to be home? When do you know that it’s not okay to skip a soccer game? When do you know that, fill in the blank. And I looked at him and I said, well, here’s the good thing about it. Since you’re married, you’re gonna have someone called your wife that’s gonna let you know. Because that pendulum will swing over here and you’re gonna work, work, work, work, work. And then all of a sudden you’re gonna hear this little, come home. But it’s usually not that exact tone. Well, true. And then you come home. Do you ever get in the doghouse? Oh yes, of course. But it’s a… the thing about it is it’s that balance. And you’re never down the middle. You know, you’re always just skewed one way or the other it seems like. And, you know, your family is very good about letting you know, hey, Dad, remember us. It’s okay. So here are some just some people watching this are from the Judeo-Christian background Okay, some people would say some guys a Buddhist. I don’t know what the different religions are. Sure But in the Christian Bible, it says God created the earth in six days Monday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He’s off. That was that was the idea to be interested I know a lot of people that say well as a Christian, you know, that’s the work ethic We work six days a week because that’s the name they kind of buy into the six day principle. Other people, I know from different, I know one group of people, they were actually Asian Americans and I talked to them and they work seven days a week. They physically live at the business. No issue with it. That’s just their cultural thing. I know, you know. So in your mind, what is the number? Six days? Well, I think… Five days? How often were you working when you started? Seven days. Seven days? Yeah. What was your wife, what was sweet Carrie saying? Was she saying, hey, you know… Go make it happen, Cap’n. Really? Yeah. She was encouraging you? Absolutely. Awesome. Because here’s the deal, she knew that that me working and me, every day I worked, we were a day closer to our goals. So you both had goals? Absolutely. You guys talked about them? Yes. Okay, so even though you’re working hard, do you take time to take her on dates? Do you take her on dates? Yes, we try to do a date night. We have done habitually a date night, you know, all of our lives. That’s awesome. That’s awesome. Now, so how did you strike a balance ultimately between faith, family, finances, relationships, and your physical fitness? Against faith, family, finances, your relationships, and your physical body. I mean, walk me through a typical day for you. What time, what time, what time old school when you were starting the business, were you waking up? Oh, you know, 637. And what time were you getting home? 6, 637. OK, so you’re gone about 12 hours. Yeah. You come home. I mean, I woke up. I didn’t I didn’t leave immediately. So that’s when you waking up. That’s what you ask. So when I go to the office at nine ish, you know. So when did you schedule time to work out? Just kind of going through the five here, did you work out at all? Yeah, well, I actually played, I played some sporting events, and that to me was my workout. I was never a big, like, go to the gym and plug a James Fonda VCR tape in. Little old school for some of you. But I played soccer, and then my wife got me into a little bit of tennis and that was my I enjoyed it was a release and then it was competitive but yet it also kept me in shape. Did you two play against each other? A tennis? Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah she was good. She took private lessons and she dragged me out there and she just whooped me. That’s kind of a good self-esteem thing for her just beating the heck out of you. It probably was. Okay so you see you scheduled time in that schedule even though you’re working seven days a week you were scheduling time for fitness. Mm-hmm. Were you scheduling time for relationships? I mean were you talking to friends and staying in touch with people? Yeah, as much as you can. I mean, obviously, you know, you have that, whether you draw it out or not, but you have that thing of, you know, okay, this no matter what is going to get taken care of. And then the remaining time left, you’re going to do this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this. And I used to have, back in the day, I would have one night a week that I would call it guys night. And any of the guys that wanted to spend time with me We did it Monday night It kind of started with Monday night football is what it kind of evolved into But Monday night at a core group of guys and we would get together every Monday night and if you didn’t make it You know, we didn’t change it. It was Monday night, you know, dude night dude night. We’d get together and We basically would go someplace and watch the football game We’d go hang out of course when football season wasn’t it wasn’t it you know we would go hang out talk laugh share life you know talk about you know problems and just be buddies you know so you scheduled time for relationships again we have spirit mind body relationships finances so you got the body you got the relationships you got the finances there uh you know what about what about your mind like time to develop ongoing learning did you schedule a time to do reading at that time or to study? I loved to read and I would, you know, in the early days I wasn’t that busy at the office. And so in between patients, I loved to read and I’d always have something there to read and to stimulate my mind. Teasingly would tell my wife, you know, I had a couple of favorite spots in the house and then the spots would be overtaken by my children or somebody in the house, you know, so then I’d have to go to spot B, you know, or maybe spot C, you know, my little spots that I had. So I figured out that I had to have one more spot than I had kids You know because in that way and not everybody could have every one of my spots but I always found one spot that I could go to and And do a little decompression and do a little reading and just relax a little I know that we’re not on the Thrive spirituality channel here But I know that everybody watching this has some views some people are atheists some people are agnostic, some people are Protestant, Christian, Jewish, whatever. But everyone has different views. But I think we have to schedule a time to develop that. You do. And in your own way, whether it’s going into your prayer closet, whether it’s meditating or whatever, however you find that connection that’s really necessary, you have to schedule that into your week and you have to treasure that. And the way you treasure that is you hold fast to that. And those times were very important for me in scheduling that and making sure if it wasn’t a daily occurrence, it was at least every other day or several times a week. Now Albert Einstein, the famous scientist and inventor, he once said, life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. And I found, and I met with a guy, Dr. Z, and you see, we were kind of, we’re entrepreneurs, but my job is being like a business coach. Sometimes you have to deal with, you’re helping people deal with life and their business. And I dealt with a guy who’s unbelievable in business, but he spends no time with family. He’s out of balance. That’s not healthy. That’s not healthy. I mean, that’s…anytime you’re skewed that way, it does implode. It does affect you at some point. Have you ever done that before where you just totally neglected family for a while and then your wife had to put you in like a headlock to get you back? Absolutely. I mean, you get focused, you get driven, you put your blinders on. I mean, you are doing whatever you need to do to make that business successful. And that’s the beautiful thing about having a spouse is that they will eventually say, and if you’re smart, if you’re smart, Clay, you’ll listen to them. And you’ll get back to the house, you’ll make that soccer game that weekend, you’ll do what you need to do right then. But the thing about it is that when people talk about that balance, you talk about those five things, when you said that, I instantly saw a picture of something. I instantly saw five sticks on a stage, each one of them with a plate on it. And you spun them. You’ve seen it, the little trick, you know, and you spin the stick and the little plate spins up there, right? Yeah. And so you have all five of those, right? And so, so many times in life, what you find is, is that you’re sitting there looking at those five areas of your life. And you wake up in the morning, you go, which plate is wobbling the most? And that’s when you run over and you spin. I think this is huge, because I know there’s people watching this who are saying, gosh, I don’t know how to find the time and the day to start my successful business. I want to, but I don’t have the time, because I go to keep my kids hockey or ballet or basketball or soccer, and so it’s hard to do that. Was there ever a time in your career where you had to crack open the early morning or the late night after the kids went to bed or before the kids went to bed to find those extra hours? Yeah, you do. You sleep deprived. You know, it’s funny, but you and my wife and I first met and we were dating. We would stay up till three or four in the morning talking on the phone. We would deprive ourselves of sleep because it was something we truly wanted. We wanted to spend time on the phone with the person you were in love with something, when you really, really want it, you will find the time to make it happen. Gosh, you know, it’s funny, but as we’re working on Thrive, there’s so many awesome people like yourself that we’re interviewing, and I literally have been getting up at like two or three in the morning almost every day, because I want to see my kids, and I see my kids at night, you know? But I have to do the research or respond to the emails or whatever. So these people laugh, these are some of these reporters that we’re talking to, but they’re like, you emailed me at 2.30 a.m. or 3 a.m. or and that’s what I usually typically get my email done, but like you said, if you if you’re something you’re passionate about and something you’re in love with, it’s not that hard. It’s not. I mean, I look back on it and I go, Marsh, it’s crazy, you know, to deprive yourself that much sleep in your college. I mean, I was studying, I had this, I had that going on, and yet it seems so easy to do at the moment. And that’s the way it’s going to be, is that when people really get that passion, when they really know that they’re going to have to do it. Yeah, unfortunately, there’s some trade-offs. Owning a business, there’s trade-offs. Owning a business, when you get the call that something’s wrong and you’ve got to fix it, guess what? Sometimes you miss a little Billy soccer game. Sometimes you miss a hockey game. Sometimes you miss those things in life, but that’s the dedication of that business that you have to have. It’s like a child, too, and you’re the parent. Trade-offs, though. It’s a trade-off. It’s a balance. I mean, you’ve got a balance. And you can’t miss every soccer game, I know, because you’ll get yelled at. But sometimes you do. What if I’m an entrepreneur on the other end of this camera over here, and I am trying to say that I want to be a successful business owner, but I am not willing to make the trade-offs. I want to be at every soccer game. I want to be, I’m saying that with my actions. I want to be at every, you’ve met these people. I want to be at every soccer game. I want to be at every church festival. I want to be at every… I’m going to work out every morning, five, six days a week. I’m going to… I’m going to… I’m going to be at church. I’m going to do all these things. What do you say to that person? Well, you got to decide. Do you want your cake or do you want to eat it? Because you can’t have both. That’s what it is. It’s trade-offs. That’s what it is. Now, as your empire has grown, you say no probably. That’s probably one of your skills that you and your wonderful wife had to learn to do say no No, I don’t say no. No, you don’t just sort of open Your phones or emails or text messages, that’s your no Yes, you have to you have to treasure your time and you have to be jealous of your time You have to understand that the time is one thing that you’re not going to get more of in a day and that so you have to manage it wisely and well and and if you’re doing something you said there said yourself why am I doing this when I should be a Billy soccer game this is not you know those are those moments that you say you know I really need to kind of read vamp this a little bit you ever do this during my life as we’re talking about work-life balance one thing that I did it was just stupid is I volunteered I didn’t mean to okay I’m at the I’m at the homeowners association. I’m 22 I’m the only guy under the age of 23 living in this nice neighborhood and Really only got under 30 living. I was gonna say 23 I mean, there’s probably nobody I nobody that yeah age and they said we need someone to volunteer to be vice president and I remember being like You know because I’m ambitious sure Conquer the world well one neighborhood at a time. Well, I have the DJ vans Where we parked all the you know the all the equipment and there’s these conversion vans that have like a hundred and seventy thousand Miles on them, and I’m parking them strategically behind my house, so you can’t see them I planted a bunch of trees, but it’s in a nice neighborhood so people are starting to complain well the president resigns Hmm so now I’m getting phone calls. I’m answering the phone and yeah, this is Wendy. Okay, yeah, someone is parking their car, their car, their vans, their commercial vehicles, they’re behind their house and it’s just against the ordinances. Could you see what we could report them? And endless calls, you know, Gary’s calling because someone pooped on his lawn and it just, it doesn’t end. And then I volunteered for Junior Achievement. So I’m out there working out Junior Achievement where I’m volunteering to teach entrepreneur education at high schools. Plus, I’m doing the homeowners association. And then I start doing some stuff with church. So now I’m just like all over the place. How’d that work out for you? It ended up being a deal where I was like hell or high water my career is going to take off. But I just didn’t sleep. I irritated my wife. I don’t think we went on a date for like three years. I remember my kid and it was bad. Yeah. That’s unhealthy. Yes, it’s unhealthy. You have to be able to say no. And you have to be jealous of that. You have to treasure the time. Does your wife help you say no? Did she teach you to say no? Or have you just been good at it? I’ve been in the doghouse too much. I’ve got to say no. Okay. You’ve been in the doghouse. Well, the final thing I’d ask you, and for the person who’s watching this and they click there’s they’re saying there’s not enough time. Mm-hmm in my day. Mm-hmm That’s what you hear a lot. I don’t have time to work out. I’m time to start a business, right? Can you maybe talk with them about if they say I don’t have enough time how you would try to balance that all together You need to cut something out Because I promise you this there’s one thing I can promise you is that you’re not going to get more than 24 hours in a day I mean, it’s just math. Let’s just be honest, okay? So you have to write down what your day looks like and be honest about that. Write down from the time you wake up to what you’re doing to the time that you’re done. If you really want to try to capture some time to do something else other than what you’re doing currently, you have to really give that a hard look and say, what needs to go so that I can start my business so that I can grow my business so that I can give more time to my business. And you have to make choices. Some of them are hard, but you have to do it. My number two rule in business is you have to be the pig at breakfast, not the chicken. The chicken’s just involved. It’s easy to have a business and just be involved a little bit. But if you want it to be successful, you want it to grow, if you want it to become something more than it is today, then you have to be committed to it. And committed to it means that you’re saying no to things that you have been saying yes to. You know, you have to free up that time because it’s that time and energy that you put into it that’s going to help it grow, that’s going to be the jumpstart of it, that’s going to let it develop, that’s going to let it go to the next level. And that’s what we all want, isn’t it? We all want to thrive and we all want our businesses to do well. So take a good hard look, be serious about that, and then look at the things that you need to get rid of, that you need to wipe off your plate, and then do it and stick to it and put that time where it needs to go and that’s into your business, into your ideas, into developing it, into growing it. And I promise you if you do that, your business will thrive. Hey, thank you for your time my friend. Take care. Keep thriving. JT, do you know what time it is? 410. It’s TiVo time in Tulsa, Russia, my baby. Tim TiVo is coming to Tulsa, Oklahoma June 27th and 28th. We’ve been doing business conferences here since 2005. I’ve been hosting business conferences since 2005. What year were you born? 1995. Dude, I’ve been hosting business conferences since you were 10 years old, but I’ve never had the two-time Heisman Award winning Tim Tebow come present. And a lot of people, you know, have followed Tim Tebow’s football career on the field and off the field. And off the field, the guy’s been just as successful as he has been on the field. Now, the big question is, JT, how does he do it? Hmm. Well, they’re going to have to come and find out, because I don’t know. Well, I’m just saying Tim Tebow is going to teach us how he organizes his day, how he organizes his life, how he’s proactive with his faith, his family, his finances. He’s going to walk us through his mindset that he brings into the gym, into business. It is going to be a blasty blast in Tulsa, Russia. Also this is the first Thrive Time Show event that we’ve had where we’re going to have a man who has built a $100 million net worth. Wow. Who will be presenting. Now we’ve had a couple of presenters that have had a billion dollar net worth in some like real estate sort of things. Yeah. But this is the first time we’ve had a guy who’s built a service business, and he’s built over a $100 million net worth in the service business. It’s the yacht-driving, multi-state living guru of franchising. Peter Taunton will be in the house. This is the founder of Snap Fitness, the guy behind 9 Round Boxing. He’s going to be here in Tulsa, Russia, Oklahoma, June 27th and 28th. JT, why should everybody want to hear what Peter Taunton has to say? Oh, because he’s incredible. He’s just a fountain of knowledge. He is awesome. He’s inspired me listening to him talk and not only that, he also has he practices what he teaches, so he’s a real teacher. He’s not a fake teacher like business school teachers. So you gotta come learn from him. Also, let me tell you this, folks. I don’t want to get this wrong because if I get it wrong, someone’s going to say, you screwed that up, buddy. So Michael Levine, this is Michael Levine. He’s going to be coming. You say, who’s Michael Levine? I don’t get this wrong. This is the PR consultant of choice for Michael Jackson, Prince, for Nike, for Charlton Heston, for Nancy Kerrigan, 34 Grammy award winners, 43 New York Times bestselling authors he’s represented, including pretty much everybody you know who’s been a super celebrity. This is Michael Levine, a good friend of mine. He’s going to come and talk to you about personal branding and the mindset needed to be super successful. The lineup will continue to grow. We have hit Christian reporting artist Colton Dixon in the house. Now people say, Colton Dixon’s in the house? Yes, Colton Dixon’s in the house. So if you like top 40 Christian music, Colton Dixon’s going to be in the house performing. The lineup will continue to grow each and every day. We’re going to add more and more speakers to this all-star lineup, but I encourage everybody out there today, get those tickets today. Go to Thrivetimeshow.com. Again, that’s Thrivetimeshow.com. The way I do our conferences is we tell people it’s $250 to get a ticket or whatever price that you can afford. And the reason why I do that is I grew up without money. JT, you’re in the process of building a super successful company. Did you start out with a million dollars in the bank account? No, I did not. Nope, did not get any loans, nothing like that. Did not get an inheritance from parents, anything like that. I had to work for it and I’m super grateful I came to a business conference. That’s actually how I met you, met Peter Tong, and I met all these people. So if you’re out there today and you want to come to our workshop, again, you just got to go to thrivetimeshow.com. You might say, well, when’s it going to be? June 27 and 28. You might say, well, who’s speaking? We already covered that. You might say, where is it going to be? It’s going to be in Tulsa, Russell Oklahoma. It’s Tulsa, Russell. I’m really trying to rebrand Tulsa as Tulsa, Russell. I’m sort of like the Jerusalem of America. But if you type in Thrive Time Show in Jinx, you can get a sneak peek or a look at our office facility. This is what it looks like. This is where you’re headed. It’s going to be a blasty blast. You can look inside, see the facility. We’re going to have hundreds of entrepreneurs here. It is going to be packed. Now for this particular event, folks, the seating is always limited because my facility isn’t a limitless convention center. You’re coming to my actual home office and so it’s going to be packed. You can learn the proven 13 point business system that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two day, 15 hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re going to leave energized, motivated, but you’re also going to leave empowered. The reason why I built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur, I always wish that I had this. And because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter bunny but inside of it it was a hollow nothingness and I wanted the knowledge. They’re like oh but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get-rich-quick walk on hot coals product. It’s literally we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. I encourage you to not believe what I’m saying and I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say are they successful because they’re geniuses or are they successful because they have a proven system. When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s going to be the best business workshop ever and we’re going to give you your money back if you don’t love it. We’ve built this facility for you and we’re excited to see it. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person, two-day interactive Thrive Time Show business workshop? Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money, so if you’re out there today and you want to attend our in-person, two-day interactive business workshop, all you got to do is go to thrivetimeshow.com to request those tickets. And if you can’t afford $250, we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable for you. I learned at the Academy at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Harvard Kiyosaki, the Rich Dad Radio Show. Today I’m broadcasting from Phoenix, Arizona, not Scottsdale, Arizona. They’re close, but they’re completely different worlds. And we have a special guest today. Definition of intelligence is if you agree with me, you’re intelligent. And so this gentleman is very intelligent. I’ve done his show before also, but very seldom do you find somebody who lines up on all counts. And so Mr. Clay Clark is a friend of a good friend, Eric Trump, but we’re also talking about money, bricks, and how screwed up the world can get in a few and a half hour. So Clay Clark is a very intelligent man, and there’s so many ways we could take this thing. But I thought, since you and Eric are close, Trump, what were you saying about what Trump can’t, what Donald, who’s my age, and I can say or cannot say? Well, I have to, first of all, I have to honor you, sir. I want to show you what I did to one of your books here. There’s a guy named Jeremy Thorne, who was my boss at the time. I was 19 years old, working at Faith Highway. I had a job at Applebee’s, Target, and DirecTV, and he said, have you read this book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad? And I said, no. And my father, may he rest in peace, he didn’t know these financial principles. So I started reading all of your books and really devouring your books. And I went from being an employee to self-employed, to the business owner, to the investor. And I owe a lot of that to you. And I just want to take a moment to tell you, thank you so much for allowing me to achieve success. And I’ll tell you all about Eric Trump. I just want to tell you, thank you, sir, for changing my life. Well, not only that, Clay, you know, thank you, but you’ve become an influencer. You know, more than anything else, you’ve evolved into an influencer where your word has more and more power. So that’s why I congratulate you on becoming. Because as you know, there’s a lot of fake influencers out there too, or bad influencers. Yeah. Anyway, I’m glad you and I agree so much and thanks for reading my books. Yeah. That’s the greatest thrill for me today. Not a thrill, but recognition is when people, young men especially, come up and say, I read your book, changed my life, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, I’m doing this. I learned at the Academy at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Hey, I’m Ryan Wimpey. I’m originally from Tulsa, born and raised here. I went to a small private liberal arts college and got a degree in business and I didn’t learn anything like they’re teaching here. I didn’t learn linear workflows. I learned stuff that I’m not using and I haven’t been using for the last nine years. So what they’re teaching here is actually way better than what I got at business school and I went what was actually ranked as a very good business school. The linear workflow, the linear workflow for us in getting everything out on paper and documented is really important. We have workflows that are kind of all over the place, so having linear workflow and seeing that mapped out on multiple different boards is pretty awesome. That’s really helpful for me. The atmosphere here is awesome. I definitely just stared at the walls figuring out how to make my facility look like this place. This place rocks. It’s invigorating. The walls are super. It’s just very cool. The atmosphere is cool. The people are nice. It’s a pretty cool place to be. Very good learning atmosphere. I literally want to model it and steal everything that’s here at this facility and basically create it just on our business side. Once I saw what they were doing, I knew I had to get here at the conference. This is probably the best conference or seminar I’ve ever been to. I’m going to be here for a couple of days. I’m going to be here for a couple of days. I’m going to be here for a couple of days. Once I saw what they were doing, I knew I had to get here at the conference. This is probably the best conference or seminar I’ve ever been to in over 30 years of business. You’re not bored. You’re awake and alive the whole time. It’s not pushy. They don’t try to sell you a bunch of things. I was looking to learn how to just get control of my life, my schedule, and just get control of business. Planning your time, breaking it all down, making time for the F6 in your life and just really implementing it and sticking with the program. It’s really lively. They’re pretty friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. I attended a conference a couple months back, and it was really the best business conference I’ve ever attended. At the workshop, I learned a lot about time management, really prioritizing what’s the most important. Biggest takeaways are you want to take a step-by-step approach to your business whether it’s marketing you know what are those three marketing tools that you want to use to human resources some of the most successful people and successful businesses in this town their owners were here today because they wanted to know more from clay and I found that to be kind of fascinating the most valuable thing that I’ve learned is diligence that businesses don’t change overnight it takes time and effort and you got to go through the ups and downs of getting it to where you want to go. He actually gives you the road map out. I was stuck, didn’t know what to do and he gave me the road map out step by step. We’ve set up systems in the business that make my life much easier, allow me some time freedom. Here you can ask any question you want, they guarantee it will be answered. This conference motivates me and also gives me a lot of knowledge and tools. It’s up to you to do this. Everybody can do these things. There’s stuff that everybody knows, but if you don’t do it, nobody else is going to do it for you. I can see the marketing working. It’s just an approach that makes sense. Probably the most notable thing is just the income increase that we’ve had. Everyone’s super fun and super motivating. I’ve been here before, but I’m back again because it motivated me. Your competition’s going to come eventually or try to pick up these tactics, so you better use it. If you don’t, somebody else will. I’m Rachel with Tip Top K9, and we just want to give a huge thank you to Clay and Vanessa Clark. Hey guys, I’m Ryan with Tip Top K9. Just want to say a big thank you to Thrive 15. Thank you to Make Your Life Epic. We love you guys. We appreciate you and really just appreciate how far you’ve taken us. This is our old house. This is where we used to live a few years ago. This is our old neighborhood. This is the city. This is life, right? So this is my old van and our old school marketing. And this is our old team. And by team I mean it’s me and another guy. This is our new house with our new neighborhood. This is our new van with our new marketing. And this is our new team. We went from four to fourteen, and I took this beautiful photo. We worked with several different business coaches in the past, and they were all about helping Ryan sell better and just teaching sales, which is awesome, but Ryan is a really great salesman, so we didn’t need that. We needed somebody to help us get everything that was in his head out into systems, into manuals and scripts, and actually build a team. So now that we have systems in place, we’ve gone from one to 10 locations in only a year. In October 2016, we grossed 13 grand for the whole month. Right now it’s 2018, the month of October. It’s only the 22nd, we’ve already grossed a little over 50 grand for the whole month, and we still have time to go. We’re just thankful for you, thankful for Thrive and your mentorship, and we’re really thankful that you guys have helped us to grow a business that we run now instead of the business running us. Just thank you, thank you, thank you, times a thousand. So we really just wanna thank you, Clay, and thank you, Vanessa, for everything you’ve done, everything you’ve helped us with. We love you guys. If you decide to not attend the ThriveCon workshop, you’re missing out on a great opportunity. The Atmosphere Place office is very lively. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk through the door. And it really got me and my team very excited. If you decide not to come, you’re missing out on an opportunity to grow your business, bottom line. Love the environment. I love the way that Clay presents and teaches. It’s a way that not only allows me to comprehend what’s going on, but he explains it in a way to where it just makes sense. The SEO optimization, branding, marketing, I’ve learned more in the last two days than I have the entire four years of college. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned, marketing is key, marketing is everything. Making sure that you’re branded accurately and clearly. How to grow a business using Google reviews and it’s just how to optimize our name through our website also. Helpful with a lot of marketing, search engine optimization, helping us really rank high in Google. The biggest thing I needed to learn was how to build my foundation, how to systemize everything and optimize everything, build my SEO. How to become more organized, more efficient. How to make sure the business is really there to serve me, as opposed to me constantly being there for the business. New ways of advertising my business, as well as recruiting new employees. Group interviews, number one. Before we felt like we were held hostage by our employees. Group interviews has completely eliminated that, because you’re able to really find the people that would really be the best fit. Hands on how to hire people, how to deal with human resources, a lot about marketing and overall just how to structure the business, how it works for me and also then how that can translate into working better for my clients. The most valuable thing I’ve learned here is time management. I like the one hour of doing your business is real critical if I’m going to grow and change. Play really teaches you how to navigate through those things and not only find freedom, but find your purpose in your business and find the purposes for all those other people that directly affect your business as well. Everybody. Everybody. Everybody. Everyone. Everyone. Everyone needs to attend the conference because you get an opportunity to see that it’s real.
