Audio Transcription

So many different times in my life, I’ve played with broken or hurt things, broken foot, broken leg, broken hand, broken arm, broken sternum, broken collarbone. I could keep going if I just thought more about bones. Why, man? Because I loved it. I loved playing the game. I was passionate about it. One of the reasons I even get encouraged at seeing all of you here, you know why I get encouraged by that is because you could be anywhere doing a lot of different things, but you chose to be here Some shows don’t need a celebrity narrator to introduce the show But this show does in a world filled with endless opportunities Why would two men who have built 13 multi-million dollar businesses? five hours per day to teach you the best practice business systems and moves that you can use. Because they believe in you and they have a lot of time on their hands. This started from the bottom, now they’re here. It’s the Thrive Time Show starring the former U.S. Small Business Administration’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Clay Clark, and the entrepreneur trapped inside an optometrist’s body. Dr. Robert Zurnack. Two men, eight kids, co-created by two different women. Thirteen multi-million dollar businesses. We started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, and I’ll show you how to get here. Started from the bottom, now we’re here. We started from the bottom, now we’re here to climb Started from the bottom, now we’re at the top Teaching people systems to get what we got Colton Dixon’s on the hoops, I break down the books She’s bringing some wisdom and the good looks As the father of five, that’s why I’m alive So if you see my wife and kids, please tell them hi It’s the C and T up on your radio And now 3, 2, 1, here we go! We started from the bottom, now we’re here to climb Started from the bottom, let me show you how to get this What is web hosting? Why do I need it? Stu, I’m going to get into this real quick. Web hosting is the server technology that allows your website to exist on the web. When a customer visits your website, the web hosting is what delivers your website to the customer’s browser. What are we talking about? Oh man, it’s easy to go full nerd. I’m not going to go full nerd. Please do, full nerd. I’ll just say, it’s a computer. It’s a certain kind of computer that is designed to send that information out to the customer. Okay. Hooked up to the internet in the cloud. It’s a super fast computer. It’s not like the computer you’d have on your desktop. It’s not like this laptop. It’s a specific computer for servers. But it’s a whole set of technologies that you may have heard of PHP, ASP.net. There’s all these nerd acronyms and things. Okay. It might’ve heard of dilithium crystals. That’s a good one. So web hosting is just literally how you get the website on the web. How people can see it. Okay. And I want to make it very practical for Thrivers. When a customer visits your website, the web hosting is what delivers your website pages to the customer’s browser. The browser is what you search with. Exactly. Google, that kind of thing. Now, you can’t have a website without web hosting, is that correct? That is correct. Did something weird just happen over here? That light just moved by itself. That was… Oh! Alright. You got everybody looking over here. Should I pray? No, it was… So next move is how much is hosting? Stewart, so web hosting plans are typically between what, 5 to 25 bucks per month? Right, those are commonly… They’re known as shared hosting is what you’ll… You’ll look for that word shared hosting. 5 to 25 bucks, pretty typical. Now faster and more secure hosting typically starts around 75 bucks a month. Right. And costs several hundred dollars per month depending upon the features involved. Let me get into this real quick here. A lot of thrivers want to know this. I’m just going to try to make sure I’m not jumping ahead in our outline, but I want to get into it. If you go to eitrlounge.com, everybody gets a haircut if they’re a dude. So then when you go here, then you say well, that’s what happened Well, look at the top left if we kind of put the mouse up there on the on the on the very very top left right There yeah, you see that there. That’s our eitr lounge.com Now let’s go ahead and go to thrive 15.com rumor has that sites awesome. Oh, yeah awesome They may be on this site right now The site within the site if you look at the top left though, you see that little green security deal? Yep. And it says HTTPS? Yes. Stuart, what just happened? What is that? Oh, man. That is… So it’s a padlock, right? Okay. Which implies that it is secure. That’s an extra step you can take. It’s an extra expense, but that secures all the information that goes to the server and back. So if you’re typing in credit card numbers and things like that, it’s encrypted, meaning a hacker can’t just grab that information. So let’s review. For like five bucks a month-ish, we go to eitrlounge.com, and that’s going to be unsecured. It’s maybe 10 bucks a month unsecured. You say, well, Clay, why don’t you have it secured? Well, I’ll tell you why. No, it’s been a deal where it hasn’t mattered to us. We’ve been dominant in Google. And I’m trying to make it the money. I don’t try to disobey the things. But anyway, once I get to a certain point where I need to, now Thrive is a worldwide phenomenon. It’s a big thing. So we need to have our site secure because we’re selling a lot of stuff online. Now Elephant in the Room is very, very close to opening up our, we have three locations now. We’re opening up our big online shopping cart soon. Trust me, as soon as that happens, we’ll make it super secure. But I think it’s like it goes the cost goes up for maybe five or ten bucks a month to how much a month to make it secure like that? Security is going to be 80 bucks a year, 100 bucks a year, so it’s not that much. All that money! All he ever wants is taking our money and giving it to GoDaddy. Yeah, so when you talk about hundreds a month, Thrive is a good example of that. I won’t say how much we spend, but we spend a good chunk of money every month. Let’s say when I write the checks for the said server and hosting costs, what I say is to myself, I say Zero! Alright! I cue this song and I’m just writing that big old long check and I’m like Oh yeah! I’m glad this money’s not going to me because I want this money going to you. Just keep writing those zeros. That’s right, okay. Next thing is, the faster, more secure, again, it’s more expensive. So we’re hopping in now to what website, what web hosting do you recommend? Do you? So we recommend that you would use GoDaddy Managed WordPress Hosting. Now, full disclaimer, because I think a lot of people ask us, are you guys part of the Illuminati? Illuminati. People ask, though, they do not usually. Seriously? People on our… Well, no one’s ever asked me, but the thing is, I know you’re thinking it, but you’re going, are you directing everyone to the same company because you’re making a kickback? First off, we’re not making any money on this, okay? We’re just saying this because we have built, and I’m not exaggerating, I have personally been involved with the building of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of websites, and I’ve seen people go, well, I get mine on cheap domain that cam, you know, you’re like, that’s that’s great. I love it I but you know, you probably don’t want to talk like that But you also you know that you wanted your site to work right and what’s it gonna cost you? I mean you’re saving four dollars a month to Have it hosted off of something local and crappy when one of the best solutions in the world Could be available very inexpensively you get what you pay for many times. So we’re pulling this up here. This is the cost structure here. And you’re talking about the ultimate, super duper, awesome plant. It’s like $7.99 a month. Yeah, super cheap. Now you’re saying it uses… Caching? Catching? Oh yeah. Catching? Cat? Catching? Cats are not at all. Pam? Pam? Okay. So it’s… Anyway, you’re saying it’s super fast. Walk me through this. Super fast. So, hmm, caching. So, caching is basically they save a copy of the pages. Boy, this gets nerdy fast. They save a copy of the pages so that they load super fast. Right? Most web hosts don’t do this. This is a special thing you have to order. I see. So you’re saying, just so we’re clear, by paying for the extra fast caching, it saves copies of your site. Essentially, yeah. So it loads faster. So it loads faster. So anybody’s just going, I don’t know what that means. Listen, many times I use my cell phone a day, many times. Often there would be several days in a row I’ll use my cell phone and I don’t know how it works. So it worked for me. But I want to show you an example of what this means. So let’s go to eitrlounge.com. That’s a good illustration, Clay. Well, it’s kind of how my religious view is, too. Even like an ATM machine. We don’t know how it works. We just want the cash, you know? I mean, I don’t know how it works, but I know if you just get in the machine, you break open, and there’s tons of… Put it behind your pickup truck. What a chain! Drivers don’t do this. But if you go to eitrlounge.com, and then what you do is in the top left there’s a little refresh button there. A lot of times we’ll make it update to the site and we tell people they have to refresh their browser. And so by refreshing it they can see the new updates. But if they don’t click the refresh button, why won’t they see the updates too? Because it’s cached. What does that mean? It’s saved. There’s two kinds of cache, but it’s saved so it’s fast. You know what caching is like? You know when you dial a phone number on your phone, it’s that first 10 seconds that it takes to dial and you hear the tones and all that. Caching would be like hitting the phone number for somebody and it dials immediately. Like a speed dial? You don’t have that time period when it dials. Oh, like real time. Caching speeds it up that much. That makes sense, thank you. Here we go. It says it uses an SSD server hard drive. Oh, man. So it’s fast. Now, you said SSD, which is San Diego State Documentary. Documentaries. That’s it. What does SSD stand for? That’s a good guess. SSD, man, what does that stand for? It’s a kind of hard drive. Go to Google Translate. Let me tell you this. Solid state disk. Solid state disk. Let me tell you one thing. A lot of us, we’re running around going, don’t hate by the way, a lot of people are saying, she has a PhD. And then you say, oh really, what’s a PhD? Physical hard drive? So she went to school for that? Yes. So you don’t even know what that means. No. Physical hyper delinquent. What happens is, people, they don’t know, we just say these phrases a lot. So I just want to make sure we’re getting it though. But the idea behind this, Thriver, just so we’re clear, just so it’s all good, okay? It’s fast. It’s fast. Next move. It has a built-in security scanning so it’s more secure. Right. So that’s when you’re web hosting. On the web hosting side. Exactly. This is all properties of the GoDaddy managed WordPress. These are things you get in that. And I’m going to go fast the next couple points. I want to make sure Thrivers are getting this. We have a Thriver. You know who you are. We’ve talked about this. You’re in Montana. We’ve had this discussion. You’re hosting on cheapsites.com or whatever and your site’s always crashing. I’ve talked to you like three times. We’ve had that conversation. We’ve gone to that place of uncompany. You’ve said, how can you help my business? We’ve talked about your site going down. We’ve talked about GoDaddy. I don’t know what to say other than, you’ve got to change to GoDaddy. Come on. Okay, anyway, so moving on. Alright, so also includes a free SSL certificate for the first year. What’s SSL? It’s Security Socket Layer. Yeah, Secure Socket Layer. That’s that green panel. Wow, you were joking! No! Come on! He’s right on. Unbelievable. Wow, that needed like a horn or something. That was a weak one. I pulled an all-nighter memorizing this stuff. No, but seriously, this is, now the reason why, SSL, what that does for you, is when we talked about the Thrive, it has a little lock on it. Yeah. That’s what that is, is it not? That’s what it is. It’s secure, and Google likes it for SEO, too. So it changes the domain from HTTP to HTTPS, S standing for the secure. Secure. OK, so that’s how it works. So what that does, it’s an extra layer of encryption. Let me walk you through why Google cares real quick. Let’s say I’m Googling, let’s Google, how to optimize my website. OK, let’s say I’m Googling now. I’m just, how to optimize my website. Can I pull it up here? What happens is that HTTPS blog comes up. Why do they come up top? I’ll tell you why. A lot of reasons. They’re following all the Google optimization rules, but also because the site is secure, Google says, listen, we don’t mind putting that top. Now imagine every one of the sites that came up top in Google was not secure and it put a virus on your computer. Then people would quit using it soon, right? Now rumor has it, I’m just telling you this, this is something, I’m just telling you this is something I’m just telling this is freaking me out is freaking me out this is just just happen this week go ahead and Google this real quick put USA Today being usage oh now what’s happening is right now is it being it on Google loses 20% Google that stuff so it’s happened is the good friends now at Bing, there’s people who are starting to use the Google. And people are starting to use the Bing. People are starting to use the Google and the Bing. People are starting to go back and forth. So Google’s going, no, no, no, no, no, get back, over, here, come back, over. Listen, our search is better. So Bing is now knocking on 20%, true story. Wow. Now remember when Bill Gates started building the Xbox and people were like, stupid, I’ve got a Sony PlayStation. Dumb. For me, I was going, I’ve got a Sega Genesis. I’ve got a Nintendo. Super Nintendo. Yeah, my cousins, all the little cousins come over, you know, and I’m like… No, no, I have the Atari. Yeah, Atari. Yeah, Atari. You and I were playing a Galaga, you know, I’m sorry. ColecoVision. But anyway, Xbox, he just started putting cash into the game and eventually dominated. And I’m just telling you, Bing now has 20%, so watch out. GoDaddy support is one of the best in the industry. If you have a problem, and you’re going to have one. This is big. Go for it. This is a big move. I don’t know how many times I’ve called GoDaddy at 10 o’clock at night, 11, midnight. And every time I call, some people complain about support departments, but GoDaddy, they always answer. And there’s always somebody. The janitor doesn’t answer. These are real humans who have real answers. That’s excellent. Typically, when you call GoDaddy, they’ll call him and they’ll say, thank you for calling GoDaddy. And he has a mullet. If you call him at ten o’clock, they’ll keep the romantic music for you. Okay, next thing is, how do I build a website? Well that’s kind of a broad question, but I want to get into some specific answers to help you. What technology do you recommend to build websites? Well, we, as a part of the Illuminati, the company that just constantly is making secret kickbacks for doing speeches in communist countries. No, we recommend WordPress. And the reason why we recommend WordPress is why, Stu? WordPress is super easy. If you know how to follow the steps, and we’re making a training on this, by the way, it’s super easy to set up, super easy to get it installed and running, and you can buy themes, you can buy plugins, you can download free stuff. I mean, it’s one of the easiest ways. Who owns WordPress? Matt Mullenweg is the guy who started the company. Matt who? Matt Mullenweg. Okay, and what happens is with WordPress, people all over the world are making plugins, and a plugin is basically like a tool. So let’s talk about it real quick. So let’s say Jose has built this awesome workshop. You fix the heck out of cars. And what’s the best… you’re from Puerto Rico. What kind of dessert… what’s the best kind of dessert in the world? Flan. You call it flan? Flan. You like dulce de leche. Tres leches. Okay, tres leches. Yeah, remember that cake you got for the birthday? So let’s say that you have a Jiffy Lube, it’s kind of like an auto body shop, and you also serve tres leches. So you serve that stuff. Now let’s say, so you’re known for that. So Stuart and I, we’re mechanics, and we aren’t financially to a place where we could open our own auto body shop. But we start to say, well, hey, can I fix cars at your shop too and then share revenue with you? And you say, okay, cool. I’m going to bring in my own tools. Now I’ve got some sick tools. I’ve been out of business a couple times, but I have some tools I’ve kept from my previous jobs. You have some tools, Stewart. Pretty soon your buddy Carl, Carl’s like, hey, I’ve got some sweet tools too. Pretty soon we’ve got the lift, you know, we’ve got all the the shocks and struts stuff, we got all the diagnostic tools. Pretty soon we’ve brought all of our tools. We’ll call those tools plugins because your Jiffy Lube is like the WordPress and we’re all bringing these plugins and we’re just bringing different tools and pretty soon we say, hey, Jose, you can use our tools to fix the other cars. So now all of a sudden this shop has a ton of tools in the shop that other people have provided to, and your shop will call it WordPress, and I’ve brought tools, we’ll call it plugins, to the shop, and it works. Now, our wives, not being stereotypical, a bunch of dudes start going, I’ll bring by a dessert? That’s very probable. But a bunch of guys, we’re not being stereotypical, a bunch of guys are going, I’ll bring back some flan. So pretty soon we have this huge, because we hear about your legendary desserts, we have this huge freezer of all these different desserts and people all over the city start to go, if you want to get your car repaired and while you’re waiting, you can go in that freezer and there is an unbelievable variety of desserts. That’s kind of what the plug-ins are like, because there’s very functional plug-ins, as an example. The best one right now, the best plugin, very functional, very rugged, like a tool for WordPress for search engine is Yoast. Yoast. Okay, that’s a plugin. So if you Google real quick, Yoast, I want to pull that up real quick. Yoast, and then Yoast is a plugin. You can find it and it tells you about it and you can plug that right into WordPress. Boom. But there’s also some kind of fun dessert items. Really? I would call them WordPress themes. Right? And you can buy some themes. So we type in WordPress themes. It’s kind of some desserts. They look beautiful. Maybe not as functional, but they look good. Stuart, what are some places… What are your favorite places to buy some themes from? My favorite is elegantthemes.com. Okay. That’s one of the best. If we click on that, let’s do it. Sure. It’s a little bit over 341,000 people. These are one of the top providers out there. They have what are called premium themes, which means they cost money. They’re really well developed, but they cost money. How much do these themes cost? On average, between $30, $40, $50, somewhere in that range. Some go up to $200. Who’s making money on these? Themes, they make money making themes all day? They make money. Yeah, there’s hundreds of these guys out there. And all they do all day is make themes and they sell them. Yep. That’s a real thing. That’s what they do. Wow. Amazing. So hopefully that makes sense with that analogy again. It’s WordPress is like this auto body shop. The plug-ins are like the tools we’re all bringing. It’s just how it works. So we highly recommend that you would use WordPress. Okay? Now WordPress is easy to set up and get it running. WordPress has thousands of plugins available and wordpress is very very flexible like a steroid enhanced Soviet Union gymnast I could have been sleeping hanging out my family but I chose to think of that example to explain that for this very moment. And I have built a wall to keep my people in because they love it so much. We salute you, Clay. That’s right. Instead of building a wall and having Mexico pay for it, they built a wall and had their people pay for it. And then you’re stuck in the wall. So what is a theme and why do I need one, Stu? So a theme is kind of a look. It’s the look, yeah. It’s the design of the website. I’d like you to add this to the screen. Okay. If you could Google this real quick, we’re talking about The Look. Can you Google The Look by Roxette? R-O-X-E-T-T-E. That’s a great song. Everyone needs to know that song. And if the video’s inappropriate, I’m sorry. But that’s Roxette from the album Look Sharp. It’s going to change your life. 1988, the best. 1988? Yeah, hot sauce. Anyway, so the theme is the look of a website. It is a set of template files that has been pre-designed and can be installed into WordPress. The theme can be customized to tailor the look. She’s got the look. That’s a no-win. I’ll get into it later. The theme that can be customized to tailor the look of your WordPress site to match your brand and style. Modern themes are mobile-friendly. Modern themes are mobile-friendly. Now, why does it have to be mobile friendly? Super important. Because the majority, officially, the majority have crossed over into the mobile realm. So people are using phones and tablets on the go. Most websites, whether you know it or not, and you need to know it, most websites are visited primarily by mobile devices. It’s huge. Most people are looking at your website through a mobile device. Homies, write that down. The look matters. Now I’m gonna read you some of the lyrics real quick here. She’s got the look. She’s got the look. What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue? Everything I’ll ever do, I do. Anyway, I promise I won’t do that again. La la la la, she’s got the look. That song will change your life. Anyway, so we have to focus on the look. The reason why I’m dwelling on this is because the look of your site does matter. Yes. I’m going to pull up a site where I do this one often and I’m going to have to edit out the audio because I don’t want to be slanderous, but I want to be truthful. This site, it sucks like a Hoover. Let’s go to this and you know what.com. This is a client that I’ve… You’re just full of great illustrations. Well, this is somebody who I years ago knew, and this site, we’re going to black out the domain and black out the words I’m saying, but it is a transcript. Holy crap, you guys got to cut this out of here. But it is a freaking disaster. And the look of it, drag it in so we can see what it looks like in mobile. Kind of bring that in there, kind of shrink it on down. I think you got to click on that top right actions too to kind of minimize that window just a little bit up there. Yeah, oh yeah. Boom. If you just kind of bring it in a mobile, just so people can see that hot sauce. It doesn’t even adjust for mobile. Nice. But it’s actually better because you get to see less of it when you drag it in. So I’m just saying is you’ve got to make sure the look of it is mobile friendly. It has to happen. That’s why the WordPress themes are great. Also, themes are the best way to make a do-it-yourself website. It won’t be as elegant or as customized as a custom site, but it can be a good starting point for budget conscious businesses. Right, this is a big deal. So a lot of people want to do it themselves. They want to build their own site to save the money. Right. But if you do that, you need to know, if you buy a theme, that’s a good way to do it if you’re budget conscious. But your competitor might have that same theme, right? Somebody in your business in the same city, right? That’s the problem with them being popular is your website’s going to look just like the other guy’s website. You need to be careful. Yeah, let me tell you what I call this the super move. You guys ready for the super move? I’m ready. What you do is you buy a theme, and then you hire a good graphic designer to custom tailor your theme. At therive15.com. That’s the move. So let me tell you what that’s like. That’s like buying a suit off the rack and then having somebody tailor it for your body. You know, you want to fit your body. That’s what you’d want. That’s a custom tailored feel there. If you just bought the suit off the rack and didn’t have it custom tailored, it might not look right. If you had somebody just build it from hand, you know, the guy says, I will build you the perfect suit using my hands. I weave each thread. I actually grow the lamb. You make one out of lamb? No, I use, you know, first off, if a guy makes a suit out of lamb, be concerned. But the thing is, is that if a guy weaves it himself, it’s very expensive. Exactly. And there are very, very wealthy people who do pay to have a site made from scratch. Have a suit made from lamb hair. Okay, moving on. So anyway, next thing is, are themes expensive? Well, there are thousands of free themes out there, but you usually get what you pay for. Meaning that they’re not very flexible, they’re very rigid, they have coding issues. A lot of times the coding is just, it doesn’t even work. So you click it and it’s, do do do do, you know that wasn’t my sound again. Do do do do. Yeah, your web users are trying to, I do want to buy that. No, I do want to click about us, I want to learn more about you guys. But it was free and my cousin Barry made it. Barry! So it is making sure, very important Thrivers, that we do need, I recommend you pay for a WordPress theme. You have a graphic designer design it. Okay, there are thousands of premiums themes out there which are typically range from about 50 bucks to 200 bucks. 200 bucks? Yeah. That’s a lot of male deer. So the next part we’re going to talk about is do I need plugins? Maybe I need plugins, maybe I don’t. Well I’m going to say eventually everybody watching is going to need a plugin. Maybe somebody is going, I’m listening, do I need a plugin? Yeah, stop asking that question. Yeah, I think everyone is going to need a plugin eventually for your WordPress site. And Stuart, really the reason why I would say that you need one is because there’s a lot of ones. There’s plugins just for capturing contact information. Right. There’s plugins for what are some basic plugins? What are the kinds of plugins you see all the time, Stu? Just a basic one. Yeah, so you know the big three that we typically recommend are the SEO plugins. Okay, so Yoast. Great plugin for search engine optimization. Right, and if you want someone to be able to submit a contact form on your website, a request to quote or something like that. You’re going to need what’s called a form generator, literally the ability to create a form. People can fill out name, phone number, email, that kind of thing. There are some security plug-ins. This is where it gets a little nerdy, but just to protect your website, there’s some security plug-ins that you can put in there as well. There’s nothing nerdy at all. I love it when we talk about our lithium crystals. Stuart, what are your theories on time travel? No, I’m serious though. But anyway, and just one more shameless… He almost answered that, Clay. I was getting ready. He was ready to answer that. Well, quick shameless plug in. Everyone here needs to listen to OneRepublic’s Wherever I Go. Yes. Knew Ryan back in the day before he was famous, before OneRepublic took off. We sang together at ORU. Did you really? Yes, we did. Was he better than you or were you better than him in your mind? Obviously he is a thousand times better. Well wherever I go, Little Shameless Plugin, check it out wherever I go. That’s the name of the song, Wherever I Go. It’s awesome, good stuff. Alright, other notes here about plugins. A lot of plugins are free, many plugins are free, most plugins are free. There’s some plugins that cost you some money. But also plugins that can help you earn money are going to cost you money typically. There are plugins where it’s like, as an example, one I love, oh I love this one. The plugin by our main man, it’s the podcast one, it’s the Pat Flynn. Yeah. Can we Google Pat Flynn’s blog? Pat Flynn’s podcast plugin. And Clay, as you’re talking about plugins, as he’s searching, this is a question that comes to mind. Sure dude. Real basic. How many plugins can you put on a site? Well, here’s the problem. When the more plugins you put in on a site, the more code that’s on the site. The more code that’s on the site, the slower that a site will become or it slows down. So what is a basic minimum that you recommend or a maximum? When you’re getting over five to six plugins, you need to be very careful. Let me show you an example. If you go to podcast.thrive15.com, we have a lot of Thrivers who’ve asked us to create a podcast and so we’re adding new videos all the time. Well, Pat Flynn has developed, he probably worked with a team of coders to do this, but this is our podcast.thrive15.com page. And on there we have a podcast and that podcast player is the Pat Flynn on a monthly basis. And I think the cost of it is approximately, what is it, like maybe 15 bucks a month or something? Actually don’t know, but it is a great, it is awesome. It’s awesome. Oh man. Pat Flynn, we love your, we love your plugin, Pat, Pat. Anyway, so moving on here, okay? Stu, can you think of a membership plugin off the top of your head? I hate to put you on the spot, but is there one in particular that you can use for, if you want to charge a customer’s credit card $5.99 a month or whatever. Is there plugins you’d recommend for that? Sure, there’s Paid Memberships Pro is one that’s really good. Wishlist Member is another one. Can we do Wishlist Member? We searched for it real quick. Wishlist Member. Wishlist Member. Okay, and then right there, you can find one. And then these things, I mean, some of these are like $100 a month. Yeah, this one, for example, is $197 a year. What’s that? Basically $200 a year. $197. That’s pretty reasonable. And just pricing, why do a lot of people choose the number 7? I’ll tell you why. Quick rabbit trail. Many people believe that number is the perfect number and science has shown that people are going, is this a biblical lesson? Could be. But people will price things at $197, that kind of thing. But anyway, this is a very good program. We highly recommend it. Other items here. There are also paid restricted access plugins. Right. Similar to membership, but they’re not recurring. It’s a one-time charge to access something. Right. That sounds a lot like a membership, but the distinction is if you have like an e-book, you know, if you have a, I don’t know, there’s all kinds of products you might sell one time, right? Yep. And you want to sell access to that. A list, maybe, there’s different things you can do. So it’s not a membership, it doesn’t recur monthly or annually, it’s just you pay for access just that one time. Does that make sense? I can think of an example of one that you could do this for. Let’s say that you were doing a broadcast, a podcast, a live training where you have Dr. Such and Such and he’s on tonight to teach you the secrets to revolutionizing your health. And you say, for one time you can you can watch tonight for $7.99 Tune in or tonight. We’re having an MMA fight or a Mixed mixed martial arts fight or a boxing match and you want to pay showtime one time $8.99 to watch the fight. Mm-hmm. That’s the kind of stuff where it’s a one-time charge a little different Okay, preview pay per view pay per view now Now the third is the shopping carts. These allow customers to buy products or services on your website. And again, somebody says, I want to make my own custom shopping cart. That’s cool. And for like half a million dollars, you can do that. I’m not exaggerating. No joke. I’m not exaggerating. You know, buildingthrive15.com, some people say, why would you do that? It doesn’t make any sense. You spend a lot of money. I don’t get it. Well, it has to be a mission. It has to be something where you feel strongly about it. And we wanted to build a custom experience for you, so we kind of built like a Maserati of websites for you. And that’s why it costs so much money. But you can go out there and build a shopping cart today using some plugins that are available. Stu, would you recommend Shopify? Well, if you’re going to stick with the WordPress platform, there is one called WooCommerce. Woo. www.commerce.com Can you search that real quick. Now when you say Woo commas, are you getting a little woo woo stuff? I’m trying to, but I might. Guys, I’m going to tell you something. This is a fun, fun story. A lot of times you get here early in the morning. Here we go. They’ll be like hot rocks and Stuart will only be wearing a robe. Yes. And He’ll walk in and he’ll just go, he’s going, Wow, wow, hello my brothers. Yeah, hello my brothers. I’ve been expecting thee. I didn’t know you would be here now. It’s a little bit early. I’ve made you some fun. And I say, Wow. And I say, Stuart, are you okay? And then I realize I’m in a dream state. It didn’t actually happen. He was building a shopping cart all night. That’s what I mean by woo-woo. Okay, but anyway, WooThemes. How much does WooThemes cost? This one’s free. Whoa. Did I just say that? Wow. But there’s some… Is that coffee they’re selling on the bottom? Maybe. Looks like it. Free. So WooCommerce, let me unpack it this way. WooCommerce is free. The main shopping cart functionality is free, but there are plug-ins you have to buy, like if you want to hook it up to a credit card. Oh, now they’re going to get you. It’s always about the money. That’s where they go. All they care about is making a profit. And are those pretty pricey? $79, $129, somewhere in that range. Per? Per. So it gets a little pricey. Oh, wow. If you’re going to go WooCommerce, expect to spend $300 to $500. But is this your favorite? Sorry. He’s part of the Illuminati. Illuminati. He’s always trying to push these products on us. This is too many to buy. Maybe true, maybe not. So how much is it again? Expect to pay for plug-ins somewhere between $300 to $500 if you’re going to add inventory tracking and things like that. Just put this mark on your arm. Don’t worry about it. Just don’t worry. Under your skin. Are you the anti-Christ? No, I’m just saying. I just use this site. I just feel like he’s always trying to push his little secret. It’s the site’s free. Just give me your credit card. Okay, now advertising. You want to sell advertising on your website. What is that tool? So if your game, if your plan is to get a lot of traffic and then capitalize on that traffic, monetize that traffic through advertising, there are plugins that allow you to do that. Got it. Right? So those are kind of the four big ways to make money on a website. There are some others, you know, like affiliates and things like that, but those are kind of off. But these are the main four that you want to look at, and there are plugins that support those efforts. Okay, so now let’s talk about what plugins do I need. The big ones, okay? And we talked about it a little bit, but I want to get back into it just a little bit here. What plugins do I need? Somebody say it with me now. What plugins do I need? I know we have Thrivers ask us every day, hundreds of them. What plugins do I need? I’m going to get into it. One, you need a search engine optimization plugin. You need an SEO plugin. It’s huge. Yes. This is going to allow you to manage and make changes to your SEO. Right. SEO? No, search engine optimization. Okay. So we recommend Yoast. Yeah. Now, again, people say, is that because they’re paying you to recommend? You know, I don’t necessarily, they’re not paying us. But Stuart, can you kind of explain real quick why we recommend Yoast? Yoast, the guy who developed that is super intelligent and he stays on top of the Google algorithms and the changes and the penguin and all these different changes that come up. The what? Oh, did I open that door? Google is constantly making updates and they tend to name them after animals. There’s the penguin, there’s the Panda update. Point is, Yoast is staying on top of the search engine game. Just get it. Just get it. Just let them do the work, and you just put it in. Exactly. You gain the benefit of all that work. So you can, I want to unpack that, where we said you can manage and make changes to your SEO. Yeah. Clay, so over time, how many strategy changes do you make on SEO? I mean, it happens every few months, right? You pivot. I would say this, and I want Thrivers to freak out on this, but this is what happens. We have specific trainings that will get into this. You basically have three moves that Google’s never changed from, and there are scammers who are trying to, this is a move I did, okay? To get to the top of Google, it’s always been these three. It’s whoever has the most content, plus whoever has the most backlinks, plus whoever follows the site design look of Google. That’s always been the case. If you follow the site design look, you’ll get the most original content, the most backlinks. You’re good. Well, I, as a 22-year-old, a very aggressive man, I thought, I know what I’m going to do. I’m going to get the most content in the world. So I’m just going to copy all of the content, literally every single word from my competition and paste it on my site. And I’m going to take the content from everybody’s site and put it all on. If I take all of the content and put it on my site, I’ll be top. And for a minute I was. I don’t think you got reported. Well, and the thing was, it wasn’t against the law because it wasn’t considered copy written stuff. Well, Google’s like, look buddy, we know what you’re up to. So they change the algorithm. They make updates. So you can’t do that. So then the only big, big, big strategy changes is that Google keeps keeping you from scamming. So if you’re a non-scammer, mixed scammer, mixed scammerson, then you’re not going to have to do too many strategy updates. But if you are scamming, mixed scammerson, you’re going to have to do a lot of updates. Now the thing about it is Yoast stays on top of the ones for non-scammers. If you’re following the rules and then Google makes an update. So recently Google said, hey, local reviews, you have to have a site that’s mobile compliant, because now people are on smartphones. So now you need this. Now there’s four things you’ve got to think of. Most content, most backlinks, Google compliance, and mobile friendly and reviews. So now, but Yoast stays on top of that. So that’s why we recommend Yoast, okay? It’s absolutely huge, okay? Other things I want to bring up about the Yoast. You can manage your SEO. You can do it on kind of a site-wide or page-by-page. Very easy to do that. Also, you can create this thing called the.xml sitemap. We have specific trainings on that, but Yoast allows you to, a sitemap tells Google, hey Google, this is where I am, and this is all the stuff. It’s like a table of contents for your site. So you open up the book and it says, here’s what’s inside it, that’s what a XML sitemap is. And if you read some of more academic books, at the end of it, it’ll have an index of where they got everything from, where it’s cited. It’s like a cited page, where the information came from. And that’s what a.xml sitemap is. JT, do you know what time it is? 410. It’s TiVo time in Tulsa, Roseland, baby. Hello, I’m Michael Levine, and I’m talking to you right now from the center of Hollywood, I have represented over the last 35 years, 58 Academy Award winners, 34 Grammy Award winners, 43 New York Times bestsellers. I’ve represented a lot of major stars and I’ve worked with a lot of major companies. And I think I’ve learned a few things about what makes them work and what makes them not work. Now, why would a man living in Hollywood, California, in the beautiful, sunny weather of LA, come to Tulsa? Because last year I did it, and it was damn exciting. Clay Clark has put together an exceptional presentation, really life-changing, and I’m looking forward to seeing you then. I’m Michael Levine. I’ll see you in Tulsa. The Thrive Time Show two-day interactive business workshops are the world’s highest rated and most reviewed business workshops because we teach you what you need to know to grow. You can learn the proven 13-point business system that Dr. Zellner and I have used over and over to start and grow successful companies. We get into the specifics, the specific steps on what you need to do to optimize your website. We’re going to teach you how to fix your conversion rate. We’re going to teach you how to do a social media marketing campaign that works. How do you raise capital? How do you get a small business loan? We teach you everything you need to know here during a two-day, 15-hour workshop. It’s all here for you. You work every day in your business, but for two days you can escape and work on your business and build these proven systems so now you can have a successful company that will produce both the time freedom and the financial freedom that you deserve. You’re going to leave energized, motivated, but you’re also going to leave empowered. The reason why I built these workshops is because as an entrepreneur, I always wish that I had this. And because there wasn’t anything like this, I would go to these motivational seminars, no money down, real estate, Ponzi scheme, get motivated seminars, and they would never teach me anything. It was like you went there and you paid for the big chocolate Easter Bunny, but inside of it it was a hollow nothingness. And I wanted the knowledge, and they’re like, oh but we’ll teach you the knowledge after our next workshop. And the great thing is we have nothing to upsell. At every workshop we teach you what you need to know. There’s no one in the back of the room trying to sell you some next big get-rich-quick, walk on hot coals product. It’s literally we teach you the brass tacks, the specific stuff that you need to know to learn how to start and grow a business. I encourage you to not believe what I’m saying, but I want you to Google the Z66 auto auction. I want you to Google elephant in the room. Look at Robert Zellner and Associates. Look them up and say, are they successful because they’re geniuses or are they successful because they have a proven system? When you do that research, you will discover that the same systems that we use in our own business can be used in your business. Come to Tulsa, book a ticket, and I guarantee you it’s going to be the best business workshop ever. We’re going to give you your money back if you don’t love it. We’ve built this facility for you, and we’re excited to see you. And now you may be thinking, what does it actually cost to attend an in-person two-day interactive Thrive Time Show business workshop. Well, good news, the tickets are $250 or whatever price that you can afford. What? Yes, they’re $250 or whatever price you can afford. I grew up without money and I know what it’s like to live without money. So if you’re out there today and you want to attend our in-person, two-day interactive business workshop, all you got to do is go to ThriveTimeShow.com to request those tickets. And if you can’t afford $250, we have scholarship pricing available to make it affordable for you. I learned at the Academy at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba. Watch what a person does, not what they say. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Harvard Keosak University Radio Show. Today I’m broadcasting from Phoenix, Arizona, not Scottsdale, Arizona. They’re closed, but they’re completely different worlds. And I have a special guest today. Definition of intelligence is if you agree with me, you’re intelligent. And so this gentleman is very intelligent. I’ve done this show before also, but very seldom do you find somebody who lines up on all counts. And so Mr. Clay Clark is a friend of a good friend, Eric, Eric Trump, but we’re also talking about money, bricks, and how screwed up the world can get in a few and a half hour. So, Clay Clark is a very intelligent man, and there’s so many ways we could take this thing, but I thought, since you and Eric are close, Trump, what were you saying about what Trump can’t, what Donald, who’s my age, and I can say or cannot say. Well, first of all, I have to honor you, sir. I want to show you what I did to one of your books here. There’s a guy named Jeremy Thorne, who was my boss at the time. I was 19 years old working at Faith Highway. I had a job at Applebee’s, Target, and DirecTV. And he said, have you read this book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad? And I said, no. And my father, may he rest in peace, he didn’t know these financial principles. So I started reading all of your books and really devouring your books and I went from being an employee to self-employed to the business owner to the investor and I owe a lot of that to you and I just want to take a Moment to tell you thank you so much for allowing me to achieve success and I’ll tell you all about Eric Trump I just want to tell you thank you sir for changing my life. Well, don’t let that play, you know Thank you, but you’ve become an influencer You know more than anything else you’ve evolved into an influencer where your word has more and more power. So that’s why I congratulate you on becoming. Because as you know, there’s a lot of fake influencers out there too, or bad influencers. Yeah. So anyway, I’m glad you and I agree so much and thanks for reading my books. Yeah. That’s the greatest thrill for me today. Not a thrill, but recognition is when people, young men especially, come up and say, I read your book, changed my life, I’m doing this, I’m doing this, I’m doing this. I learned at the Academy, at King’s Point in New York, acta non verba, watch what a person does, acta non verba, watch what a person does, not what they say.
